GeForce 4.0 vs Kali vs Panicking

GeForce 4.0: A sleek, sloped and skirted wedge, with a good amount of traction and, most important, a seriously powerful rear hinged flipper.

Kali: A six-wheeled box, much like Storm 2 actually, with lotsa traction, speed and a Biohazard style flipper, much like Storm 2 really (except this one is pnuematic ).

Panicking: Yet another six-wheeled invertible box with good traction, only this one is equipped with a pair of skirts and a nice pair of lifting forks.

        3€¦ 2€¦ 1€¦ Activate!

Our two box-shaped robots have a rather quick start and already enter the arena-centre while Andy€™s still looking where he left his controller. A reckless Kali collides head-on with Panicking in his first assault. The angle of collision isn€™t exactly in Alex€™ favour though, and Martyn€™s machine slides off the front of Kali before Alex can get any advantage of his position. In the meanwhile, Andy managed to locate his might controller again the relatively slow GeForce comes in to join the fray. Andy goes straight for Kali, who just saw his own attack fail, and rams his wedge underneath the rambot€™s back. Well underneath his opponent, Andy sees it€™s time to show what his vapourbot is capable of and fires his mighty flipper! The results are impressive and Alex€™ creation is flung into the air! The recently recovered Panicking is out for vengeance and sets course towards the spot where Kali€™s gonna land. When said thing happens, Alex finds his machine on it€™s back and under attack by Panicking. A mighty crash is heard when Martyn€™s rambot comes smashing into and underneath Kali€™s side. To gain better control over its opponent, Panicking€™s forks are raised and Kali is lifted. At this moment, Alex decides it€™s time to activate his own flipping weapon. Escaping CO2 is heard and the silver box called Kali turns 180 degrees through the air before landing on its six wheels again. Panicking is on a warpath though and sets course for GeForce, closely followed by Kali who can€™t stay behind. Panicking and GeForce show some driving-skills by impressively manoeuvring around each other, both wanting to drive their weapons straight underneath each other. It€™s Panicking who comes out the fray as the least fortunate, when Kali comes driving in from the fork-armed vapour is rammed straight on top of Andy€™s wedge, and now finds itself stuck on two vapours! A smile appears on the faces of both Andy and Alex when they fire their flippers simultaneously. If you thought the previous flip of GeForce was impressive, you should definitely see this! Panicking is flipped meters into the air, moving straight up since the force in forward direction produced by GeForce€™s flipper gets undone by Kali€™s, and vice versa [/physics]. Andy doesn€™t have the patience to wait for Pannicking to come down though, and with one vicious sweep at the control-button GeForce moves forwards, towards Kali who€™s still standing in front of him. Alex is unable to dodge an attack from this close and can do nothing when Andy€™s brutal flipper wedges the Stormish vapour. With Panicking falling on the ground right behind him, Andy shoves Kali towards the nearest arena-wall, Kali finding itself unable to do anything about it! The wedge-bot fires its flipper, and Kali flies into the air, straight over the wall!

I had a horrible fealing i would be facing CDM if i made it through to the second round. Panicking has met CDM before but i have improved my robot since then, CDM hasnt been improved. Time for tactics. I will go side on to CDM and try and push it into arena hazards and into the pit.

Marty has the better speed, but he also has the poorer control as a result. Keep to the sides wherever possible and slip under the skirts (a bit easier, seeing as theyre hinged). Clamp onto the shell (or get the claw in one of the wheel housings if Im lucky) and drag it round to as many obstacles as I can find before pitting.

Good to see the Noise hasnt died down just yet, Marti.

              Great battles as ever!

Unsurprising tactics for me, just slide under wherever possible and use my extra power to drive it to the wall and fire it out. It would be nice to stay away from the spinner but I think my armour can take it anyway.

For the other fight Ill pick CDM to go through.

                GeForce 4.0 vs The Windmill

                3€¦ 2€¦ 1€¦ Activate!

The battle kicks off, and Alex starts with€¦ driving his machine backwards? That€™s right, The Windmill reverses to buy his spinning bar some time to spin up to its impressive 3000 rpm. GeForce responds by going straight forward towards his nemesis, who is still spinning up and wisely dodges GeForce initial assault by steering away. Now The Windmill is on the attacking end and drives straight to one side of GeForce! The flipper can€™t seem to dodge this attack and the potent blade mounted on The Windmill crashes into the monocoque Hardox! Andy€™s sloped wedge seems to be able to deal with this though, and apart from a very ugly dent, and what seems to be some very nasty clobbering, GeForce seems to be able to fight another day. Correction: he seems to be able to fight this very day! Andy, out for a vengeance, turns GeForce around and aims for The Windmill€™s side now. The Dutch spinner shows some skilful steering again, and so does Andy now! A lot of dodges and dances around each other follow each other up, until this beautiful dance of vapours is interrupted by a loud clang, a sound of a metal spinning bar hitting a big Hardox flipper! The Windmill drew blood again, but Andy responds quickly and fires his flipper. Alex cannot avoid being tosses into the air, and when the flipper goes up, his machine is send flying! With a giant crash, the orange robot hits the ground, and finds GeForce close at its tail already! In an overwhelming performance, GeForce is capable of wedging The Windmill for a second time in a row! Giving his opponent no time to breathe, the flipper is fired again, and The Windmill is catching another ride through the air! This time, however, the invertible robot is thrown anxiously close to the arena wall, and Alex looks on in awe as his creation is thrown towards the borders of the arena. The good news: The Windmill does safely land, within the save borders of the arena-floor. The bad news: GeForce has turned on the aggressive, again. Overwhelmingly Andy€™s flipper rams into the still shaken Windmill, and fires its flipper, for the third time in a row. This time however, will be the last time it flips, since this particular flip happens to be the one that sends The Windmill flying into the air, and over the arena wall.

                Clawdius Decimus Murderous vs Panicking

                3€¦ 2€¦ 1€¦ Activate!

Green light is given, and Clawdius steadily moves away from its starting square. At the other side of the arena, Panicking shows the spectators what true speed is and faces Steve€™s crusher before he can say Clawdius Decimus Murderous. Afraid of that mighty beak facing him, Panicking turns around Clawdius at high velocity. The crusher shows some fancy skid steering now to keep the fast rambot away from its side and/or back, and does a very good job at this. Clawdius can€™t keep turning forever though, and Steve€™s crushing machine goes in reverse, only to be chased by Panicking. Right before Panicking is about to reach Clawdius€™ body, Steve makes a lovely turn again, and this time he does reach Panicking€™s side! The sharp wedge scrapes its way underneath the box€™ hinged skirts, and with Panicking€™s wheels seemingly off the ground, Clawdius€™ giant claw begins to descend! Pop goes Panicking, as the diamond-tipped beak pierces straight through the polycarbonate top of Panicking. Martyn looks on in total awe, but doesn€™t give up just yet. In a desperate attempt to free himself from Clawdius€™ clutches, he tries every button his controller has to offer. Suddenly, Clawdius starts spinning around as if it was a turn mill. The crowd goes wild because of this flashing action by the Scottish crusher, but the driver of it, Steve McGregor, looks rather puzzled. Heck, the spinning isn€™t caused by the quick hands of the Scotsman, but by Panicking, who seemingly DOES have one wheel in contact with the ground after all. Not happy being out of control, Steve retreats his beak, making the famous Razer-move in the process, by lifting Panicking into the air. Steve reverses towards the arena wall, but the sudden acceleration seems a little too much for his grip on his opponent, and Panicking falls down. Free once more, Panicking sets direction€¦ in a straight line towards the pit release button! The slower crusher gives chase to the quick invertible box, which just made the pit descend. With Clawdius still chasin€™, Panicking is already on its way back to give his opponent a good clobberin€™. The robots now both engage in a dance of dodging and circling, since none of them want to become the others€™ victim. In the end, the two machines face each other head-on. When both machines accelerate, Clawdius€™ sharp wedge-extender meets Panicking€™s lifting forks! The wedge-extender is called wedge-extender for a reason, and wins the struggle, sliding underneath the lifting forks like a knife through butter. Talking €˜bout a knife through butter, when Panicking is fully wedged by Clawdius, the mighty claw starts descending€¦ again . Another big hole is created on top of the box, and this time, there seems to be no escaping for Panicking! All six wheels are spinning rapidly, but to no avail, as they€™re all spinning in the air. Steve decides not to waste any time this time, and turns straight towards the lowered pit. Firmly in Clawdius€™ clutches, Martyn can do nothing when he is taken to the open pit. Arrived, Clawdius raises his beak, and Panicking is moving freely again. Moving into the pit, that is.

                      3€¦ 2€¦ 1€¦ Activate!

And hereby we see the kick off of what might be one of the biggest battles so far in this tournament. This vapourbot-equivalent of Gravity vs Razer starts off with GeForge charging towards the arena centre, only to meet head-to-head with Clawdius mere seconds later. It€™s a painful collision when the two robots ram each other€™s corner, but with both wedges having a good amount of wedge-protection (namely skirts), none of the two machines seems to be able to create any kind of advantage, and they back off again. However, the two wedges also have their anti-skirt measures, as the powerful GeForce ever so kindly demonstrates when he drives around the side of Clawdius and rams his LEM-powered front underneath Clawdius€™ side. Steve tries to drive off the wedge before GeForce can get underneath even further, but finds his attempt in vain when GeForce fires that ferocious flipper! Clawdius is hurled several feet into the air before crashing onto the ground, and on its back. Steve immediately fires his self-righting arms before the rushing GeForge can get another flip in, and finds itself back onto his wheels right before Andy€™s flipper comes in for a second attack. As a response, Clawdius swiftly rushes backwards, not only to avoid Andy€™s wrath, but also mainly to ram his machine into that big green pit release button! With the siren shouting throughout the arena, GeForge is still giving chase to Clawdius. The latter now decides it€™s his turn to show off his anti-skirting skills. After dodging GeForge€™s initial onslaught Clawdius manoeuvres its way towards the side of GeForge and scrapes its carefully designed spears underneath it. With a diabolical grin on his face Steve now lowers his lethal claw. The result however, gives Andy a big grin on his face! Clawdius is merely creating a scratch on the sloped, Hardox armour of GeForge, and as if that wasn€™t enough, the claw is slipping off the armour altogether! That is, until it reaches the titanium skirt, which starts to crumble under Clawdius€™ force, until it snaps in two, nullifying Clawdius grip on GeForge altogether! GeForge darts away again fresh and clean, ignoring that ugly scratch and broken skirt of course. GeForge is taking the initiative again and turns around for another assault. Clawdius bravely searches the confrontation too, resulting in a head-on collision! Upon colliding, GeForges torque proves deciding when his front-blade finds his way underneath Clawdius€™ front-spears. Again, before Steve can react, the flipper is fired. Clawdius moves up again and this time actually makes a 360-degree somersault in mid-air! The audience goes wild, but Andy doesn€™t seem to like it when Clawdius lands on its 4 wheels. Steve wants to make most of the situation and swerves towards his nemesis. After a brief waltz between the two machines, Clawdius actually does manage to reach the damaged side skirt of GeForge, and literally spears it with ease, wedging GeForge completely! Down comes the claw, once again only leaving a mere dent, but it doesn€™t really matter this time since GeForge is fully wedged this time therefor making the claw€™s grip a lot better. Steve wastes no time and turns towards the pit before it€™s too late! Andy desperately, fires his powrfull flipper, making Steve€™s claw move up a bit. It doesn€™t seem to matter though, since the to struggling vapourbots find themselves at the edge of the pit already! Andy is still desperately using his flipper as a last resort, while all Steve does is a little nudge forwards. The flippin€™ machine slides off the wedge of Clawdius, and finds himself tumbling into the abyss.

Wedge setup here, just flip them as much as possible really, try to prop them up against the sides, avoiding getting damaged myself, the wedge is pretty sturdy, so go for whichever is slower.

Cyberdemon vs Psyclonised vs Slammer V

Cyberdemon: This Turtle Road Kill-shaped robot equipped with many, many sharp claws and a dangerous Y-Drive. This, in combination with a 35 mph top speed, makes for a highly destructive, but also rather reckless robot.

Psyclonised: Yet another full body spinner, with some clear differences from Cyberdemon though. This time, only an outer ring spins, and it happens to be shaped like Son of Whyachi€™s infamous spinning cage. Also, the machine is invertible .

Slammer V: It€™s Alex€™ infamous self-flipping axlebot with interchangeable weaponry Today Slammer V is equipped with a front wedge, kinda turning Slammer V in a WBC look-a-like, well, without the overkill that is

                              3€¦ 2€¦ 1€¦ Activate!

And we€™re off! The first robot to make its move is Cyberdemon, who€™s 3 motors start spinning around its 3 wheels that, in turn, start spinning around that dangerous body. Elsewhere, both Slammer and Psyclonised start spinning their engines too. Whereas Psyclonised does this in reverse, buying himself time for his spinning ring to get up to speed, Slammer goes driving headlong towards the centre of the arena, preparing his assault on the slowest of his two opponents, Psyclonised. Andy then shows he isn€™t in the arena to avoid any confrontations and with a fully spun up vapourbot he now starts driving towards Slammer as well. Now it€™s time for Alex to show some tactical skills, and when Psycloned€™s mighty hammers get near the wedge, just a little bit of acceleration is enough for Slammer reach the bottom of the spinning cage and activate the bottom flipping plate€¦ CLANG! And while the noise is as big as you might expect when a powerful flipper hits a powerful spinner, the result is not. What the audience sees is Slammer standing upright, with its wedge stuck between the stalled outer cage of Psyclonised, who€™s pretty much standing upright as well, its wheels spinning in the air. Slammer tries to struggle himself out of its harsh position, but doesn€™t expect to receive any help from CYBERDEMON while doing this! In comes Anthony€™s vicious spinning device, and with a loud bang, out goes Alex stranded flipping device! Slammer and Psyclonised are, quite literally, slammed away from each other, and moving freely again, the crowd now clearly sees what damage the interchangeable machine sustained. The front frame seems to be bend quite a bit, and some nasty dents are craved in its back. No vital parts are damaged though, it seems. In the meantime, Cyberdemon now stands in front of Psyclonised, who€™s trying to spin up its not-so-stalled-anymore outer ring. Anthony doesn€™t want to wait for this to happen though, and drives towards Psyclonised. Andy does a brave effort in dodging this attack, but can€™t help his cage being hit by one of Cyberdemon€™s claws. Slammer is out on revenge on Cyberdemon, and when he drives into the fray, Cyberdemon€™s flaw starts playing him false. Anthony can€™t dodge the incoming and well-controlled axlebot owned by Alex, who takes a hit, fires its flipper, and€¦ CLANG! Again, a nasty sound is heard, and a rare sight is seen. While Cyberdemon is now standing against the arena-wall, we also see how Slammer€™s bottom (now top) flipping plate just broke off! After its initial collision with Psyclonised, Slammer€™s plate has been damaged so badly that lifting the combined weight of both Slammer and Cyberdemon was enough to break it. Cyberdemon now starts self-righting, but not before Psyclonised has joined the fray again, dealing a direct hit to both Slammer AND Cyberdemon. Right now, all three bots are back on their wheels again, in the mood for a nice bashing. However, time starts running out! 10€¦ 9€¦ 8€¦ Slammer comes in for another flip 7€¦ 6€¦ 5€¦ Cyberdemon carefully backs off 4€¦ 3€¦ 2€¦ 1€¦
