Hows this for the new Easter Bunny Tribute Championships arena?
The Burrow (Geddit?)
A 50x50m2 square with red, blue, green, yellow, purple and orange starting circles, each surrounded by a small transparent macrolon wall that retracts into the floor on the word Activate!. Two CBPZs (corner bunny patrol zones, specially for the new house robots), diagonally opposite each other are painted the usual yellow and black stripes.
The pit takes up 5x5m2 of the arena, and opens after 2min 30sec of a 3min bout has passed.
In the other two corners there are killsaws like on battlebots, that comes up out of the ground and can throw robots as well as damage weak base plates.
And last but not least in the middle there is the drop zone, from which will fall a 1 tonne easter egg filled with caramel..mmmmmmmm...
Well it depends of course. If you make an arena that large spinners will have an advantage because there is no way another robot will be close to them in the time it takes to spin up, and spinners have less chance of being thrown oota if they stay in the middle.
Smaller arenas favor flippers more, because you are always closer to a wall.
In the end there is no real size that is totally optimal for all, although personally i felt the original Robotwars arena at approx. 15x10 meters was a very nice size arena. Id say 20x15 or 20x20 meters would be plenty.
Your arena would be favoring spinners and rambots (large area, long run-up time, more energy).
Flippers would have to aim their weapon first before they can use them, in other words, manouvre the robot in postition before they have a chance of winning. Hoping for shockdamage with current robots is not really an option anymore.
In my opinion an arena should give all types of robots as much as possible an equal opportunity to win, spinner, flipper, rambot, crusher or whatever weapon idea you can come up with. Its the diversity that makes this sport so great.
The Flipper Arena has 4 starting squares: 1 in the middle of each wall. The arena is 20m x 20m. The walls are 25m high, so it is impossible to flip another out of the arena.
This is where the hazards come in. The floor is covered with 9 floor flippers: one in the center of the arena, one in front of each starting square, and 1 in each corner. If you try and flee to the starting squares to prevent getting flipped from the flippers, youll be crushed by a huge 300kg hammer hidden behind each starting square.
Any weaponry that isnt powered seperately from the drive...wedges, spikes, torque reaction weapons (Stingers tail) all count as passive, although I think if you had a melty-brain translational spinner (MDU whatever it is now), it wouldnt be counted as passive even though it technically is.

Turning Circle: 0mm
Locomotion: 4 internally mounted fully rubber wheels.
Power: 4x Astroflight 900 motors powered by 3x NiCad Battlepacks.
Armour: 5mm Hardox
Weapon: The front wedge.
Srimech: An electric lifting arm built into the back of the robot, powered by a 24v S28-400 Magmotor.
Notes: Components are shock-mounted to reduce damage on impact. First time Ive used Astroflights.
Armory
Shape: Big box
Dimensions: 90cm x 45cm x 30cm
Weight: 100kg
Speed: 20mph
Ground Clearance: 0mm at front due to wedge, 4mm at sides and back.
Turning Circle: 0mm
Locomotion: 2 externally mounted Hardox wheels with rubber tires at the back, and a caster at the front.
Power: 2 C40-300 Magmotors powering the wheels powered by 6x NiCad Battlepacks.
Armour: 6mm Titanium
Weapon: A 20kg Supernova-shaped disc powered by a LEM200.
Srimech: See Corsairs Srimech.
Notes: Good weapon. Has appeared once before. Components are shock-mounted to reduce shock damage.
Tenderizer
Shape: Imagine Hells Teeth with Thors Hammer.
Dimensions: 100cm x 50cm x 24cm
Weight: 100kg
Speed: 19mph
Ground Clearance: Due to the shape, it has 0mm ground clearance all around, but can push easily.
Turning Circle: 0mm
Locomotion: 2 solid rubber wheels in the front, and a caster at the back.
Power: 2x S28-400 Magmotors, powered by 5x NiCad battlepacks.
Armour: 7mm Titanium
Weapon: A Thor-like Rack and Pinion hammer with a Meat Tenderizer for a hammer head, powered by a 2kg Co2 tank. It can come down with over 1.25 tonnes of force, and can easily pierce 6mm titanium.
Srimech: The axe can easily self-right the robot, although it probably wont get flipped.
Notes: Tested. Should work.
Trojan/Virus/Worm (TVW for short)
Shape: Biohazard
Dimensions: 95cm x 65cm x 25cm
Weight: 100kg
Speed: 20mph
Ground Clearance: 0mm all around due to skirts, and 5mm without.
Colour: Black.
Turning Circle: 0mm
Locomotion: 4 solid rubber wheels mounted internally.
Power: 4x S28-400 Magmotors, powered by 6x NiCad Battlepacks.
Armour: The skirts are 3.5mm Hardox, while the body armour is 7mm titanium.
Weapon: A Hydra-shaped axe, powerec by 2x 2kg Co2 tanks. It has the ability to peirce 3mm titanium, and actually scratch 5mm titanium.
Srimech: Due to the power of the axe, the robot can easily self-right.
Notes: Has lots of shockproofing to prevent shock damage.
Extra things for Tenderizer: The wheels are mounted internally, and the robot has shockproofing to prevent shock damage.
