  • How Could I Improve...

It is of course possible, but i fail to see any real advantage.

The disc would work as a high torque motor which means you would need a serious clutch, differential and gearing for it, and as soon as you hit something you stop yourself as well. plus any energy you take away from the disc for drive is not transferred into the opponent, making the disc less effective.

Setting up the weapon and drive on the same system is not beneficial, but if your able to transfer power from one to the other effectively, you can get some temporary gain. Weve all seen the monumental flips produced by Warrior SKF, flips that rival those of the big CO2 flippers like Gravity, plus it still has an effect spinning rim as a weapon...

To me, its like two weapons for the cost of 1.5

        Cobalt

Shape - Mostly a shallow wedge with a small box section at the rear.

        Speed - 16 MPH

        Dimensions(lwh): 70CM X 45 CM X 20 CM

Armour - 4 mm Hardox for the top, 5 mm for the sides and 5 mm Grade 5 Ti for the base.

GC - 3 CMs at the very rear, going down to 0 at the front, assisted by a sharpened wedge extender allowing it to slide under the lowest ground clearance.

        Weapon 1 - The wedge.

Weapon 2 - A flat disc of doom style flywheel on the front wedge. Robots get thrown off after having their bases and wheels shredded. The disc is run on a Lem-130 on 24 volts and spins at 500 RPM.

Drive - Two wheel drive, with the wheels positioned at the very rear of the machine and castors around the middle to provide stability. This is powered by two S28-400 Magmotors on 24 volts.

Srimech - A lifting bar/plate made of 5 MM Grade 5 Ti/V. This not only self rights the robot, but also gives the disc some protection from axe attacks. The base bar is curved so it avoids hitting the disc. This is powered by a LEM-130 on 24 volts.

Ill assume the disc has teeth and blades of some sort on it?

hi, what is the RPM of a perm 132 spinning a 15kg weapon

Depends on the voltage and the gearing. I dont know the top speed of a Perm, but whatever that is, thats the highest speed youll get. More gears in the gearbox = less speed.

Having the weapon driven as fast as is possible isnt necessarily the best solution though. The faster it is, the longer it takes to get to a level where it can do any damage, and the weaker it will be at lower speeds.

Also, that motor will require at least its weight in batteries to last a full match.

Simply, you need to spin it at as fast a speed as possible, but what needs to be remembered is that if you geared your weapon to a very high ratio (IE: 1:3 (every 1 turn of the motor is 3 of the weapon), then it will take a lot of torque and a long time to get it going. My recommendation is you gear it down, it may be slightly slower but its easier to get spinning in the first place.

After a little research, a Perm 132 on 48v gives you 2300RPM, and since Perms are quite torquey, that will need little gearing, perhaps a 2:1 ratio. The actual KJ output, Id need to know the dimensions of the weapon (IE: what shape it is, how much of that 15kg is on the outside of the weapon.

If you can give me that info ben I can work out your weapons KJ output for you

4 arms that are 55 cm long leading to a 2.5 kg hammer on each arm

Ben, it is really unlikely you would get a system like that in 15kg. the hammers alone would take up 10kg, so you would only have 5kg left for the arms and pivot point. And you would need to brace the arms as well or they would just bend at impact.

Locomotion: 2 aluminium wheels with vulkalon treads, 5CM in diameter and 3CM in width, with 2 front casters, all wheels are partially inside the body
Ground Clearance: 2MM without skirts, 0MM with skirts, 0mm at front and sides of wedge
Turning Circle: Zero thanks to 2 front casters
Size: Bodys diameter is 45CM, main part of wedge is 20CM wide and 40Cm long, side parts of wedge are 10CM wide at widest point
Weaponry: 4 55cm arms of which 5 cm just before the hammer is angled at 30 degrees leading to a 3KG hammer on each arm powered by 2 LEM 130s, plus a complicated gray fur-covered wedge to scoop up opponents, the fur is to hopefully either trap the opponent or provide a spectacular fire show
Srimech: May self-right when it spins upside down
Strengths: Will do damage to anything it touches, strong armour
Weaknesses: May not self-right, battery life may be short
