  • Awesome! I did something almost identical with my real robots motors and gearboxes years ago.

    • Thanks! The motors themselves are surprisingly good in all honesty, can't see them being a permanent solution (plastic gears and all), but it's free so why not? Easy to mount as well, quite a handy bit of kit! Might be able to find a use for those LEDs that it had too...
I've got a ludicrously oversized but light motor (for this application, anyway) for a drum spinner on the front too, just need to make a decent drum first!

        • Got some parts for my beetle now, and I must say they are looking rather swish

          • Harry, that looks immense! But at the same time, it also looks massive
I know that's probably due in part to it being in the same picture as an AW, but still looks waaay bigger than either of my part-built beetles. What are its dimensions?

            • It is massive, yeah. More fun that way :P
              75mm by 180mm and 17mm thick

                    • Harry has started an interesting rebuild diary here http://www.bigconkers.com/forum/rpm-rebuild hope its helpful to builders to get an idea on how things are mounted and the workings of a battling 1.5kg machine

                      • A quick video of the drive that I'm planning to use in my beetle. Has 4 Pololu motors on 60mm wheels and a 3s Lipo. Currently uses a Sabretooth but I'm planning to swap it for a pair of botbitz or something similar.

Won't be using this design as this was used for my uni project last year but the drive seems perfect for the job.

Swanny are you still upholding the active weapon rule?

                              • Brilliant!

Active weapons are heavily encouraged but not mandatory.
