  • Mechanical Noise - Series 1

30mph is the top speed, most control sticks are analogue, though hey, bit late to be throwing that out now, so writers discretion there, dont want any arguements

I do need to find a way around that plough, if he is that good at controling it, thats going to be a problem, might well call for those analogue control sticks to keep me at a decent speed, again, writers discretion, i typed nada about that in the stats and its not like winning this fight will do anything for me in the real world. Otherwise, if it doesnt look like i can strand him on the wall, i guess ill just have to look for one chance to ram and maybe pincer him.

        P.S

By the way, one little pet peve (or however its spelled) is my last name. MacWilliams =P You see, about a century ago or so McWilliams would have been correct, but ever since the Irish started to come into America it was changed to MacWilliams. A tiny thing, but it sorta irks me. Especially when those teachers do it.

Another thing, I just wanted to point out that its going to be extremely hard for me to be stranded against the arena wall since my body shape pretty much assures at least one wheel is on the ground. And even then, my body can changed shape at a press of a button; the pincers button! =P

Chris: you€™ll have an analogue controller indeed, but with the max speed at 30 mph, it will be hard as hell to dose your speed.

Love Bite V 2.0 vs Flank Attack

                  3€¦ 2€¦ 1€¦ Activate!

The fight begins, and the two robots are speeding away from their starting positions! Straight from the start it becomes clear what both machines are aiming for: the pit release button! The faster Love Bite is the first one to reach it, when his pincers collide with the green cylinder and a loud siren can be heard. However, pressing the button isn€™t enough for Chris, which becomes clear when the audiences sees how his pincers close down with the button between them! Alex is watching the scene with a satisfied grin on his face, not even preparing an attack on his opponent yet. Chris€™ machine is put in full reverse, and his pincers are pulling the button backwards, backwards€¦ and loose! Seemingly both contenders agreed to make some fun before actually battling each other! Chris now loosens his grip on the giant button and faces his pincers towards his opponent, while Alex does exactly the same thing. It is Love Bite who moves first, as Chris accelerates his machine in order to attack, but Flank Attack easily outmanoeuvres his opponent, who still manages to reach the end of one of Flank Attack€™s pincers. The vertical pincers close their grip on Flank Attack€™s pincer now. Chris stays on moving forward and slams his opponent against the wall. This might score high when it comes on aggression, but because of the impact Love Bite€™s grip on Flank Attack slips loose, and Flank Attack is a free bot once more! Flank Attack now gradually manoeuvres around the side of his opponent and eventually reaches his back. With Love Bite stuck between Flank Attack and the arena wall, Flank Attack can slide his plow underneath Love Bite€™s back, and Alex pushes the giant pincers button on his controller. Flank Attack€™s pincers are clamping down on Love Bite€™s sides, and although Love Bite€™s armour is very decent, it seems to be slightly crushed now. Flank Attack is put in reverse now, and moves his front towards the open pit. Flank Attack€™s grip is powerful enough to make sure Love Bite can€™t do anything to free himself, nor does he have the traction to do something against Alex€™ evil plans. Flank Attack drives his nemesis towards the pit. When he reaches the edge, he breaks down. Chris is praying for a miracle, but none comes. Flank Attack withdraws his pincers, and starts pushing Love Bites forwards, forwards€¦ and in the pit!

                  Fight 2

                  SOR 5.0 vs Tengu VII

                  3€¦ 2€¦ 1€¦ Activate!

Tengu does what it does best, spin up ASAP. Andy isn€™t planning to wait for Tengu to make its move though, and SOR drives straight towards the full body spinner! Now it€™s Alex how starts driving, as he doesn€™t want SOR to stall his disc. Tengu drives a full circle around the arena, giving him enough time to spin up to full speed. SOR gives chase, very carefully though, as Andy is fully aware of the destructibility Tengu has once spun up. Tengu now makes a U-turn and both machines are facing each other now. Andy knows he can€™t avoid his opponent€™s disc forever. Slowly Andy uses his controller to move his flipper forwards, towards Alex€™ mad machine. When wedge meets blade, Andy€™s Hardox vapour is heavily scratched and dented, and goes slightly off course. However, his broad front still faces Tengu, and when Andy comes in once more, he pushes the flipper button. Andy€™s flipper moves up and hits one of Tengu€™s blades. On impact, Andy€™s flipper becomes heavily buckled, and Tengu is tipped upwards, and onto its back. As Alex starts using his srimech, SOR comes in again for another flip, but while doing so, Andy comes to the shocking discovery his flipper stays in upwards position! It seems like the collision with Tengu has bend it so badly that it can€™t come down anymore. In the meantime, Tengu manages to get back on it€™s wheels, and it drives away from SOR to fully spin up again. SOR turns around, aiming its spinning blade towards Tengu, almost as a last resort since its main weapon seems to be immobilised. Alex smells victory and now drives in at SOR, to meet disc-to-disc. However, Andy decides to change course and drives his wedge into the pit release button. While the pit is still being lowered, Tengu comes in to test Andy€™s blade. The collision is horrifying, with Tengu€™s spinning body ripping away some Hardox splinters, and SOR being knocked towards the arena corner. Tengu goes in reverse now, and a carefully watching spectator might see some scratches on Tengu€™s anti-spinner ring, caused by SOR€™s blade. Andy drives his machine towards the other side of the arena now to recover from Tengu€™s assault. Alex smells victory and heads towards that same side. SOR turns around, and drives in at Tengy, wedge first. Alex can€™t escape, and even though SOR is slammed slightly off course and has lost its front plate since its flipper is facing up, it€™s able to drive against Alex weirdly hinged skirts and push it in a straight line towards the arena wall. Tengu is slammed against it, and flies away from SOR because of the impact with the wall. Alex is rather shaken by this sudden assault from Andy, and takes on a more careful approach. Same goes for Andy who now sees how much his armour has been battered throughout the fight. The result is two machines carefully driving around each other, a result that doesn€™t seem to please the audience. It seems ages before Alex moves first, and deals a direct hit against SOR€™s side, hoping for a direct kill. Although the hit seems to have dealt a serious amount of damage, Alex can€™t finish it off, as time seems to be running out. The clock is started and eventually reaches 0.

                  CEASE

Both machines were unable to immobilise the other, the judges have to decide.

Damage: SOR ((3 out of 10)*2=6)
                  Tengu ((8 out of 10)*2=16)
Aggression: SOR ((7 out of 10)*1.5=10.5)
                  Tengu ((7 out of 10)*1.5=10.5)
Control: SOR ((6 out of 10)*1=6)
                  Tengu ((7 out of 10)*1=7)
Style: SOR ((6 out of 10)*0.5=3)
                  Tengu ((6 out of 10)*0.5=3)

                  SOR: 6+10.5+6+3=25.5
                  Tengu: 16+10.5+7+3=36.5

SOR 5.0 couldn€™t impress the judges

I find it really amazing that so much dread eminates from a single of my bots, even if its track record does good reason for that, lol. Its not even one of my more ingenious creations - though the spinner rign definatly makes thigns difficult...

Anyways dodge until up to speed then hit, as per usual.

Okay this is actually my pretty idea opponent for a number of reasons.

                          1. Its a full body spinner. This is dangerous, but my machine is designed for FBSs. My main armor is a whole 1cm of titanium. My claws are 1.2cm of titanium. This should be enough to withstand a lot of hits. My claws are even coated in 1mm of a transparent rubber which is designed to take the shock from spinners and slow them down.

                          2. FBSs are circular... Them being circular means theyll fit perfectly in my claws. Not only that, but the shape of my claws help me slow his spinner down even more. On Alex Holts Ramthrax II, he uses a curved plow since it was specifically designed to be able to counter full body spinnes using its curved thick armoured front which means that any kind of horizontal spinning weapon will slow as it is dragged across the whole surface instead of just a single hit. In other words, his spinner will drag across the entire length of my claws, instead of just having one hit. Slowing it down as it goes along. This, combined with the fact that I have 1.2mm Titanium on my claws, plus the 1mm of rubber to slow it down, means that he might do a little bit of tearing the rubber off, but not much else besides that. And besides, the rubber is transparent anyways so the judges wont notice.

Okay, using my superior speed, Ill controllingly (A new word that I made up), but extremely fast, box rush across the arena. I want him to have hardly any time to spin up. The less time he has to spin up, the less the imapct hes going to give on me. This lessened impact will, of course, be lessend by my armor and the shape of my claws, hopefully doing less than a normal hit would do to anyone. And after the box rush? I want to just get him in my jaws as fast as possible and go for the pit. Being an FBS, hell have notoriously bad torque so he wont be able to push against me.

=) Sorry for long post, but hey! I love this tourny!

Just for reference, tengu generates approximatly 40 times the energy of a bullet according to estimations, therefore even if you are not pierced you still get heavy imoact damage. I think I will user my wedge blades, Ive never actually got to try them out and then should have no problem gettign beneath the claws (incidentally they give impacts as well as upturning)

If Tengu generates approximatly 40 times the energy of a bullet, than if it hits something than it will have approximatly 40 times the energy of a bullet going into the other object, and a force forcing in the insides which could destroy electronics, assuming that all the energy from the spinning shell is taken out at that instant, without wastage due to friction/sound.

So the moral of my story is...

                                ...Go Flank Attack
