      Re: Team Corsair Presents: ACTILWI

...thanks to Nick I have found myself entering

      1: Nidus:

      WEIGHT: 100kgs
      DIMENSIONS: 110 x 75 x 45 cm
SHAPE: A bit odd, the front is wedge shaped and it resembles Razer, and there's a scoop at the rear, with an upwards extension in the middle for the weapon support, but other than that it looks like it's been compacted around the locations of its components - triangular panels ahoy!
COLOUR: Unpainted, so black and silver
DRIVE: 2 S28-150 Magmotors run at an average voltage of 24v, giving about 6hp of drive power; this is supplied by a bioengineered set of side and top panels that contain chloroplasts impregnated into the fabric of the carbon fibre, which allow the robot to photosynthesize and thus generate its own electricity following a complex process involving the sugar from the photosynthesis and then several Sabatier reactions contained in a carbon cell.
      SPEED: 20mph
GROUND CLEARANCE: The front is 0 due to the front wedge, the rear is 0 as the scoop is sprung loosely to the floor, the sides are 6mm
ARMOUR: Stainless steel base (5-10mm) and weaponry subframe (3mm wall 25mm box section with 2mm sheet on front wedge), the rest is 4mm carbon fibre panels
WEAPONS: A pneumatically actuated arm constructed of stainless steel and carbon fibre; pivoted towards the rear of the machine, the front end goes horizontally and then comes down in a high carbon steel sharpened point, at the rear it widens out into a full width scoop. Basically, in a similar manner to Cronos this is a pneumatic crusher and flipper, but unlike Cronos it is run from full pressure CO2 in a single 2kg cylinder and two large buffertanks feeding four inlet valves into a 300mm bore/140mm stroke 7075 aluminium full pressure ram, which is connected to the weapon behind its pivot and delivers somewhere in the region of 30 tonnes of force at the ram, levered down to 15-18 tonnes at the tip of the crusher and a similar amount of force on the flipper...the caveat of course being that since this is pneumatic it acts extremely fast. The arm is retracted using elastic rather than using more gas; this makes the gas supply last longer than it would otherwise.
Basically, if you get caught by the front end, unless your armour is well braced fairly thick (5mm+) Hardox or titanium/vanadium alloy, you're getting crushed. Lesser armours (polycarb, thin ti, aluminium) may as well not be there with the force generated and concentrated into the tip. If you escape the front but get caught by the rear, you will get flipped...hmm...30 tonnes of force at the ram, fair amount of lift on the scoop...how high are the arena ceilings?
SRIMECH: Hidden inside the main weapon arm is a stainless steel srimech arm, that moves the opposite direction to the rest of the weapon when activated. This is actuated by cables and the pivots are arranged such that it will still have most of its movement when the gas supply is running low (after 4-6 uses) so it can still selfright when the weapon's flagging.
NOTES: Probably the most powerful crusher or flipper ever devised in fanfic, definitely the most overkill.
STRENGTHS: If it catches you, you are dead
      WEAKNESSES: Lack of sunlight

      2: Tears For Fears

3: Haardvark (Robot Wars, series 2)
