I agree - Kody, you should have utilised a much fairer means of elimination, like thermite or something...
That was my reaction as well

It's okay. No matter how lazy Kody is when it comes to cheaply knocking me out of a tournament, he knows when I'm gonna go after him, and when I'll back down. This is a case in which I'll back down as long as he or someone else doesn't throw me a shry remark.

There is only one person uncivil at the moment. If it is me, please do explain.

EDIT: Explained by Joey over MSN. Meh, whatever. I would like some tactics from Steve and Dan before I write the next fight.

Many a robot has lost due to the house robots. isnt that what they are there for. And indeed a good hit would put a robot oota. Remember exterminator.

I know, house robots nowadays are a rather cheap excuse to take the good robot out of the competition by blatantly exiting their CPZs and attacking the winning robot. An example would be Killertron vs Splinter vs Aggrobot, in which Killalot blatantly left his CPZ, picked up Killertron, and pitted it.

But then again, Shane, you are seeing more success then you saw in Robot Wars, and you essentially beat Tornado on steroids...

I'm sorry, Kody. Did you want something? :P

Mornington Crescent has beaten Monsoon Season before, but it wasn't easy. The best thing I can do is to stay mobile, avoid that nasty flipper and do my best to outmanouevre it while I get both rings spun out. Wheels beat tracks there, after all. With luck I'll be able to land a few good blows on the sides and rear (maybe even the flipper itself if it's misfired or I feel particularly foolish) and recreate Hypno Disc's fight with Atomic - i.e. tear Monsoon a new one.

I did indeed. :P But that you have cured, Steve. And so has Daniel via MSN. Epic fight time! :P

                      Fight 3
                      Mornington Crescent vs. Monsoon Season

                      Roboteers, stand by...

                      House robots: Hexadecimal, Asterix Anarchius

                      ACTIVATE!

And out comes Monsoon Season being the first to react, charging towards his opponent, guns a'blazin'! Mornington Crescent is quick to avoid it though and scoots out of the way, sending the Monsoon careening almost into the arena wall. However, Steve's not fully spun Mornington Crescent's rings up yet, so...he's in trouble. Monsoon Season turns about swiftly and charges again, and this time just manages to clip the bottom ring of Mornington Crescent. The blow is mediocre in terms of quality, though, but nonetheless it turns Monsoon Season aside a bit and gives Mornington Crescent another chance to spin up. That he does, and is now at full speed...but with Monsoon Season's overall slanted shape, I'm afraid that the top spinning ring is about as useful as Darke Destroyer's chisel-like blades. Daniel turns his machine about again and tries to stick his robot's ramming plate in, but that damned ring spinner of Steve's is just too swift to catch; thus, Monsoon Season ends up completely blowing by Mornington Crescent again in a Welsh blur! The Scotsman moves in to make a blur of his own!

                      CRASH!!!

It's not so much a blur as it is a bestiaI scarring, but there's absolutely no denying it's a mark of war, and the force of the attack smashes Monsoon Season across the arena and nearly into the arena wall, having a huge rip in its rear panel! The grip of its tracks manages to keep it steady, but so great was the shock of that blow that Monsoon Season is momentarily stunned! Mornington Crescent however has taken some recoil as well as it's sitting near the floor flipper now instead of the middle of the arena, but by the time Monsoon Season's able to get its positioning back, Mornington Crescent's off and spinning again. Furious, Monsoon Season shoots across the arena in a black/green jet of colour, barely avoiding the arena saws, but again Mornington Crescent's superior manoeuvrability and almost equal speed to his opponent's, gets the better of Monsoon Season, which results in Mornington Crescent scooting around the rampage fast as his 4WD can propel him, and Monsoon Season nearly driving into the wall once more! Before Daniel can rectify his mistake, Steve makes a trip to Monsoon Season's other side!

                      CRASH!!!

Well, you can't break HDPE, but you can certainly scar it up even with a thickness that vast, as Mornington Crescent has just proved! However the force of the blows has again sent BOTH robots flying, Mornington Crescent farther, across the arena, and that's against a slanted side...such power in a 100cm x 20cm package...shocking, innit? Anyway, there's a massive gash down the side of Monsoon Season, to rival that of the one on his rear, but Mornington Crescent isn't able to fully cut through the armour, it being absurdly thick, so Daniel's much in the game still. He directs his robot across the arena, and it zooms over and smacks Mornington Crescent, hard, with the wedge. Steve was unable to get away that time and the resulting blow on Monsoon Season's ramming plate is wholly deflected away, sending the ring spinner flying across the arena in a flash of white! Thirsty for blood, the Welsh flipper pursues. Steve moves to evade again but forgets the arena saws are in the way and accidentally drives right over them...BZZT! Sparks litter the arena. Steve doesn't have time to recollect his wits before 110kg of massive black and green box wedge catapults into his precious ring spinner a second time, driving it fully onto the wedge, and takes it all the way to the arena wall! And hey! Would you look at that, the upper ring of Mornington Crescent is still spinning aimlessly! Just before Monsoon Season reaches the wall, the flipper activates, tossing Mornington Crescent up, up, and...AND IT'S OVER! Mornington Crescent is out of the arena and HEY! Well...it flew out of the arena still spinning its upper ring, which immediately took out the polycarb wall beyond, on contact! You bet your arse that Steve'll be payin' for that later! Oh what an insult to injury! The house bots look on, forlorn. Such a shame, eh?

                      CEASE!

Mornington Crescent...take a detour, if you please. :O
Monsoon Season advances to Round 3!

Right, I'm not wasting any time here, let's keep pushing forward!

                        Fight 4
                        Apocalypse II vs. Under Pressure

                        Roboteers, stand by...

                        1...
                        ACTIVATE!

Quite a start from both bots as they come flying straight at each other! The competitors' odds are even...quite the contradiction, no? But it's Liam who strikes first, avoiding the claws, striking the middle of Under Pressure and tossing it! Unfortunately, it just sends the crusher flying, not quite flipping it. Under Pressure lands with a clatter but Apocalypse is back in its face, and takes it to the arena wall, pinning it on the wedge. Strangely stuck in a downward angle, Under Pressure tries closing the claws but they're not flush with the ground now and they merely go over Apocalypse's sides. Liam decides this is a perfect opportunity to strike and fires the flipper again; Martijn's bot flies almost terminal, ungraciously crashes onto the arena barrier and falls back in, only on top of Apocalypse! Well...not quite. One of the wheels is stuck on the barbs on the right side of Apocalypse, but the other is stuck in the air, the proportioned claw hugging the floor and keeping the wheel hovering. Under Pressure tries to get off the barbs, but it's way too late for that; Apocalypse turns and attacks, and is finally, finally able to get the right leverage to slide just under the crusher's front and send Under Pressure onto its back! With its weaponry largely nullified, Under Pressure plays the brave soldier and goes after Apocalypse, who returns the favour by smashing into him again, and starts pushing him towards the arena wall. But before Apocalypse can do this, he stops. ...aha! Under Pressure's claws have got him! But how? Well the finely pointed tips have slid under Apocalypse, trapping him! The tide seems to have turned! Liam never expected this, but tries to use the barbs-on-lifters to get away, but no go, I'm afraid! Martijn, wanting to get this over with quickly as possible, goes straight for the pit release button, and slams into it. With the pit opened, Liam panics a bit and fires the flipper...well hey, what do you know, he's free! The flipper was against the main body and pushing the flipper against it sent Apocalypse through the claws and back into play!

Martijn isn't too happy about this and opens the claws in a heartbeat, but Apocalypse is already gunning around the uber-crusher and trying to find an opening! Under Pressure spins about, trying to keep its claws facing its enemy but its manoeuvrability is inferior to that of Apocalypse, who eventually manages to sneak under the side of one of the claws and drive it into King Leer's CPZ. The blades of the vile house robot slam down, hardly doing any damage, but it's scored points for Liam should a judges decision await. Martijn doesn't intend it to go to a judges decision and gets away from the house robot, but only for Liam to slam him back in there! And this time, King Leer pins Under Pressure against the wall and hammers him! Well it doesn't do too much to 3.5mm Hardox, but it's aggravating at the very least! Apocalypse simply watches from outside of the CPZ as Under Pressure gets pounded and pounded, until finally the big king lets the crusher go...and Apocalypse shoves him right...oho! Not this time, Liam! Under Pressure was able to turn just in time to catch Apocalypse as it gunned towards the Dutch robot's side, and now the lower claws have gotten underneath Apocalypse and lifted him up again! And this time, Apocalypse's flipper isn't against the body of Under Pressure, so he can't throw himself out of the clutches! The barbs try to lift away but no good either, and so Under Pressure carries Apocalypse over to the pit...abandoning all pretence Liam fires the flipper again and manages to free himself, but far too late, he's halfway over the pit by now and Under Pressure's continued momentum is enough to get Liam's robot and all his hopes down into the pit.

                        CEASE!

Apocalypse? Maybe in another 2 years, Liam.

I cant really see any difficulty here. it is a very nice robot indeed BUT it reminds me of fighting kan opener. which i always seem to beat. anyway my front end should slice between them pincers and straight under for maximun flippage. i will play with this robot as i am feeling cocky. no ootas just many flips. if its stacked i will leave it. but to pit it would be nice to take the P.

Well what I wish to do is take control of Envy, the nature of the claws is so that once I got him, his wheels are off the ground, start off aggressive and quick because I dont want him to turn on the aggression. Get in the position where my claws surround him, close them in, pit him

                              success shane!

And now it's on! The first semi-final! Envy's blown across the arena in an instant, hoping to get between and past the claws before Under Pressure can close them, and Martijn has barely started to move his own robot yet. And there it is, the collision..oh no! Under Pressure closed its claws too early! What does this mean? It means that Envy has flown under the lower claws and completely under Under Pressure, and Martijn's alarmed at this, yes indeed! There's no escape as Envy hurtles Under Pressure across the arena and activates its famed front-hinged flipper, throwing the horizontal crusher onto its back in an instant, and it's now against the wall with its claws! Definitely not a good start for Martijn, but it gets worse! Envy is trying to get Under Pressure over the fence, or at least stack it! He's not having much luck though; every time the flipper pops open, Under Pressure bobs up, and then comes down on the flipper. Shane is enjoying this very much, making a chuckle of amusement whenever Under Pressure is popped. It happens again, but during this particular pop-up, Under Pressure lands in between the wedge and flipper before the flipper could close! Waving this aside, Shane figures he's got Martijn right where he wants him and heads for the pit release button. Futilely, Under Pressure tries to close its claws and the lower ones grasp around the flipper panel, but are unable to squeeze it. He does, however, get the pit release button, as he's pushed into it by Envy! Even those wedgy bits of Under Pressure's are penetrating the 'armour' of the button! And...haha! Under Pressure's, well...torn off the pit release button, to put it as blunt as a dull axeblade. Envy reverses away from the pit and wheels about; the pit opens. Envy goes over to the pit, still carrying Under Pressure in that same sort of Heimlich manoeuvre, and...oh dear. Oh dear. Oh dear oh...dear? Wha...correct me if I'm wrong, but...I don't see how Envy is going to get Under Pressure into the pit here. And nor does Shane! Envy's got his scoop over the edge of the pit, but he can't do anything as Under Pressure is stuck on the open flipper! Under Pressure's claws open...oh you wee git you. :P Under Pressure dropped the pit release button into the pit. Insult our arena, will you?! Well...we'll settle that one later. Anyway, The Watcher seems to be necessitating on whether to free them. Apparently he's made his decision, because he's coming over swiftly. However, Envy doesn't want the ref's help; turning away from the pit, he drives Under Pressure in a beeline straight towards the wall! With a dull crash, Under Pressure's claws connect with the wall and send him backwards over Envy, free at last! Envy, having also driven into the wall, backs away and spins around very quicky, to ward off any opportunities, but there's a problem! And a big one it is, too! Envy's flipper is still stuck, even without the weight of Under Pressure stuck on top of him! Shane taps the flipper switch on his controls a few times fiercely, but there's no response!

With his opponent's weaponry seemingly incapacitated, Martijn decides to implement his plan of going on the offense, and now charges Envy full blast, who reacts instinctively and meets him head-on! Who'll prevail here? ...looks like Martijn! The claws of Under Pressure have now succeeded! They've snuck under the sides of Envy like a cockroach infestation in your kitchen walls! And that's no good thing, by any means! Envy tries to get away but the percent of wheelage on the ground in Envy's favour is an absolute zero, meaning there's not a chance in hell you're getting out of this one, Mr. Swan! And now the upper claws come and sink in...OOH...now that's damage! They've surely suck in and...are going in far...that can't be a good thing either. Under Pressure, seeing Count Bleck nearby and forgetting about the pit, moves in to deliver Envy to the house robot.

                                CRASH!!!

And hoo boy, Envy gets delivered, all right! As in: delivered a huge blow to the rear, scarring it up bad! Y'see, folks, Hardox isn't quite as invincible as you'd think. The force also has spun the two bots around right quick, but no internal damage seems to have been done to Under Pressure, as far as we know. Seeing the great gash in Envy's rear from his control booth, Martijn now abandons his plan of pitting Envy for the moment, having remembered it seconds before, and plans to cause Envy as much damage as possible! He spins Under Pressure (and Envy) back around to face Count Bleck, and waits for the Count to spin up again; the said Count emits a long blast of flame which sweeps over Envy's rear, reflecting off the black and silver paintwork, and quite possibly into Envy through that gash. Now Martijn moves in on the house robot again.

                                CRASH!!!

Again the two competitors are spun right around in a tango, Under Pressure facing away from the house robot! The gash in the rear of Envy has widened considerably, but the blow's definitely not loosened the monstrous grip Under Pressure still has on Envy, so Shane is out of luck! The fan favourite looks about to be defeated here, as Martijn spins his robot back around...but then decides to go back to his original plan, he doesn't want to be too bad of a sport. So Under Pressure spins back around again and carries Envy towards the pit. Envy does not appear to be moving, at all, no matter how much Shane works the controls: obviously the claws or house robot attacks have done something to the internals. The bottom of the tires are visible to the arena cameras, and they do not appear to be rotating (the tires). Martijn doesn't notice this; one great shove and Envy is dangling over the pit. Martijn goes to retract the claws...but can't! The claws aren't responding! The only viable alternative to Martijn is to...BOOM! Martijn flings Under Pressure down the pit, still grappling Envy in front. Shane smirks wryly at this outcome.

                                CEASE!

Envy-ous of your opponent's performance, Shane? Take two and call your doctor in the morning.
Under Pressure advances to the Final!
