  • The Crash & Burn Tournament 3

I guess we dont need many tactics to send two more robots to Davey Jones locker room. Lets do just that!

    Round 2, Battle 1
Baldur Gamma (21) vs. Paralyzation 2

    Roboteers, stand by...

House robots...Matilda, with the tusks and ultra-powerful flywheel, on-par or more powerful than our competitors spinning weapons, and we have Damocles as well, the seemingly unbeatable 4-way drummer. Seemingly? You try him!

And quick off the mark is Baldur Gamma, proud in its indestructible design, or so Alex feels, as it canters across the arena towards its opponent. Paralyzation 2 has its drum going already, and isnt too keen on a frontal hit, due to that scoop. It thus wheels around for the side of the machine, but Baldur is already there and gives the newbie what for with a great push towards the side, lifting it up and slamming it onto its back, before another slam sees it smacked and pinned against the arena wall! Paralyzation cant elude the force of Baldur, and try as it might, is unable to get away. So the Watcher comes in break things up, as Baldur gets the message and moves away, and finally Samuel is able to get his robot away, his plans of never letting an attack in going up in a puff of smoke, but he heads for the pit release button. Baldur is after him immediately, and before Paralyzation can turn to object to this, he gets under the drummers rear and throws its weapon into the ground! The drum hits the floor and sends Paralyzation right into the pit release, before going haywire, coming to rest right side up again! Baldur presses its attack, not wanting Paralyzation to take advantage of an opening pit, and catches up to the drumming robot again. This time, however, Samuel is able to turn around in time, and a quick spin knocks his front side into Baldurs, turning the armoured tank aside, and Samuel drives in towards the side of Baldur!

    CRASH!

Alex smirks, as that attack hardly even scratched Baldur, but it did send him into the air and has done some major flippage to him, a nice 270 before landing on its back. It is invertible, of course, but it just lost some points on aggression and damage, so it will have to make up for that. Paralyzation isnt fond of him doing that, however, and continues its assault. Baldur turns a little too late to ward off the next blow, and the drum smacks the corner of the scoop! No CRASH needed; it sends Baldur up onto the rear corner, and Samuel takes the opportunity straight off, diving under the lifting scoop and underneath Baldur itself, pushing it across the arena and straight into...Damocles!

    CRASH!!!

Ouch! That was a deadly blow if I ever saw one; the domed side took the blow and sent Baldur flying over top of Paralyzation and landing right behind it, scoop facing away! Has the scoop been affected? Both robots turn, but its Baldur whos fastest and slams into the side of Paralyzation, pushing him into the same drum of Damocles this time...which is only at 1/4th of its speed! Of course, thats nothing to be shrugged at, but the lifter of Baldur does indeed seem to be working as it lifts Paralyzation as he hits the drum, but guided by the scoop lands on top of Damocles instead. Matilda surges out to have her fun as Baldur backs off, waiting for its opponent to escape if it can. And it does! Driving straight off, that is! With a clatter, it bounds off that same drum and, spinning up its own drum, goes after Baldur! Baldur meets him head-on; a little manoeuvre by Samuel does nothing as Baldur turns and simply gets at the side, but Paralyzation drives away quickly before the scoop can lift. Baldur comes after him again, intent on sticking that there scoop where that there sun dont shine. Paralyzation turns, Samuel nervous now, as Baldur catches up, but again Paralyzation suddenly gets the better of Baldur as both front sides meet and Baldur is spun aside once more, the power thrown astray, and that 19kg drum slams into Baldurs side!

    CRASH!

Its Baldur who takes the blow, spinning into the air with a slight dent now, and its Paralyzation who advances, pushing Baldur into an empty CPZ before it can recover! Matilda is out again immediately, as is the mighty Damocles, as Paralyzation keeps him there, but hes in danger off being spitted himself, as the house robots close in. Suddenly Baldur breaks free of Paralyzations grip, only to slam into Matildas flywheel!

    CRASH!!!

Paralyzation gets the hell out of there as Baldur Gamma is thrown against the arena wall, the 21st seed in major peril as the house robots close the CPZ in. Damocles now takes control.

    CRASH!!!

And thats it. Baldur Gamma has been thrown straight over the arena wall, and a lucky push into a CPZ has won it for Paralyzation 2. Samuel prances around crazily while Alex shakes head, though slightly comforted at the fact at least one of his robots has made it past Round 1.

    CEASE!

Baldur Gamma crashes and burns! Perhaps it is time for the 21st seed to adjourn and move to step Delta?
Paralyzation 2 advances to the Heat C Final!!

    Round 2, Battle 2
    Gravity vs. *69

    Roboteers, stand by...

House robots, yes. Growler patrols a CPZ, as does Triple Whamlet, tri-axes signalled for carnage...

And look at the fast start of Gravity! Obviously it wants to get to *69 before the shell spins up, but *69 is no slouch either and easily wheels away before Gravity is there, the shell getting to maximum fierceness, and Gravity, knowing no other plan, goes for that pit release button, moving into it and opening the pit. *69 is simply waiting at the middle of the arena, of course by the saws and not on top of them. Gravity goes for the gusto and rockets into the spinner!

    CRASH!!!

It was the wrong angle, Im afraid! Oh my - look at that, almost the entire side armour has been ripped up, flapping about! That is some serious power, but whats it done to *69? There doesnt seem to be any inside protection...but no, *69 is okay. Theyre moving away, spinning up, ah, but heres Gravity! Theyve caught up to their opponent and not been lying idle! Under the shell! And away it goes! *69 is tossed onto the flame pit, flames greedily licking the underside of *69 as Martyn hurries to get away from there and spin up! Problem is, thats hard to do when Gravitys after you! Incredible as well that Gravity is able to keep moving at this pace despite taking major damage from the first blow as it wins the chase, slips under *69 again and gives it an almighty toss across the arena! OH, IT NEARLY WENT IN THE PIT! What a shock that would have been! Just missing the edge! Martyn is both relieved and petrified, hes still near the pit though, and Gravity is coming at him with reckless abandon! He just cant get away now that hes not spinning, and Gravity wedges him again...but no flippage this time! Gravity is taking him back towards the pit! And theres no escape, hes already on the edge, and *69 hits the bottom of the pit after a brilliant beginning that quickly turned sour and quickly ended!

    CEASE!

Therell be no starry nights for *69, as the spinner is flipped about like a hotcake!

      HEAT C - SO FAR...

      Round 1
Gravity & Paralyzation 2 won their battle after 5th seed Axeon 2.0 was tossed over the fence, but then Trax was flipped over after their flipper broke down.
Baldur Gamma (21) & *69 won their battle after Noo Monsoon was pitted by Baldur, and then *69 was pitted...on top of Return of Feedback!

      Round 2
Paralyzation 2 was able to push Baldur Gamma into a CPZ where the house robots took it from there.
Gravity flipped *69 all over the arena and eventually into the pit after taking a heavy blow to the side.

      Round 3

I HAVE 6 tactics. Is that okay?

          1. *SHARPENS UP THE DRUM*
          2. Go straight for the back ground clearence, and never allow a chance to attack!
          3. AVOID THE FRONT LIKE THE PLAGUE, AS USUAL.
          4. Stay in the middle of the arena ALWAYS AT ALL COSTS, even if someone points a gun at my head!! (Like, as if someone would ever do that )
          5. BOX RUSH TO ONE OF THE CPZs.
          6. Let the house robots do their thing.

My robot is a nightmare to stack against the wall. But even if it isnt I am confident enough to RIP AND SHRED GRAVITY!! Paralyzation will keep barging in on Gravitys rear end, and be all over it like a pack of termites.

                  REVISED TACTIX

FIRST AND FOREMOST, STAY IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ARENA! DO NOT GO ANYWHERE NEAR THE ARENA WALL! Paralyzation has a pretty low ground clearence compared to other drum-robots, so... spin up ASAP, first thing. When Gravity comes in, go straight behind it, and never back up, just go straight in, and never allow any (and I MEAN ANY) chances to attack. Just attack every part of the rear, and NEVER DO ANYTHING STUPID like driving onto Gravitys flipper or something like that. JUST NEVER ALLOW ANYONE TO GET UNDER ME. AND THEN, PUSH TO THE NEAREST CPZ. ALSO, WHO HAS GOT THE BETTER PUSHING POWER?

Not to interfere, but does Gravity really need to stack robots against the wall?

Sam, could you possibly tone down the excitedness of your tactics ever so slightly? :P

                      Nonetheless, Paralyzation ftw.

I think gravity might win in a pushing match because he can get under Paralyzation 2 and then Paralyzation 2 wouldnt be able to get traction, but in a head-to head pushing match Paralyzation would win

Is it ok if I put just one more tactic?

GO FOR A HEAD-TO-HEAD PUSHING ON GRAVITYS REAR END.

One more tactic: if he gets at my back end spin round and slide the flipper underneath him
