    • The Fighting Vapourbots Association League!

      BWAHAHAHAHA

The truth is, I had a huge urge to write a battle. Yes. TODAY. And I have. Hopefully it is w00ty enough for your eyes.

      Presenting...the next battle!

      Battle 2
Wedge Devolution vs. BIACS-LE vs. Death Threat 0.2 vs. Topsy Turvy

*Im Gonna Be (500 Miles) by the Proclaimers*
      From Glasgow, Scotland...Wedge Devolution.

Quickest in this melee at 16mph, a very potent flipper we have here, a pair of 80mm pneumatic rams at 250psi allowing this popular machine to leisurely toss a tonne or more, and 4mm Hardox armour is indeed a plus. The flipper might run out of power but the drivetrain will keep going with dual Lynch motor drive that should shove quite a few bots out of the way, and though control might be another problem, the skirts will see that hardly any other wedges or low weapons can get a foothold under. Its the Wedge to end all Wedges!

      *some song* :P
      From somewhere in England...BIACS-LE.

Thats Bull In A China Shop to you...china shop man! It might be the slowest at 11mph, but its invertibility will help it fight flippers. Its cage armour of 3mm titanium mesh and 8mm fibre glass is mostly sacrificial, with the main weapon jutting through. This main weapon is none other than a 62kJ producing vertical disc! Its got a S28-400 powering it, but the teeth are aligned diagonally so opponents can get flipped in a different way. More S28-400s power the drive...but its slow to accelerate, and with low traction, its not pushing anyone around.

      *some song* :P
      From Bedford...Death Threat 0.2.

Threatening the other competitors today is a grey tracked box with a rounded rear...doesnt sound scary at first, right? Well take a look at the 5mm Hardox armour, front crushing claws which have about 6.25 tonnes of crushing power, and the LEM power, and your thoughts will turn sour quite fast! Add to the fact that wedgebots are probably screwed due to the skirts around the 10mm ground clearance, and invertibility...and now youd be quite scared. Its definitely not as manoeuvrable as wheeled bots, though, but side spikes which stop it from getting stuck on its sides complete the reason for it to give death threats.

      *Mad World theme*
      From Cardiff, Wales...Topsy-Turvy.

Our first full-bodied spinner could definitely give its opponents a whirl. Dishing out over 100kJ are the tungsten-tipped axeheads attached to blades that run down the 4mm Hardox sides of this mad cylinder. The top and bottom armour are decently armoured as well with 5mm titanium. Its S28-400 so although it doesnt have the greatest push, it can move quite quickly at an average 15mph. Also...there are skirts! Yes, skirts on this FBS, north, east, south, west, and each is 5mm titanium as well. It has a self-righting piston on top...but could Topsy-Turvy go twisty-twirly out of the arena or in the pit before long?

      Roboteers, stand by...

Booth #1: Steven McGregor, Matthew Fowler
Booth #2: Daniel Bailey, Liam Eliot

Stepping in for our house robots today is Golden Lotus, the 500kg flower spinner that makes Sakura look like a teabag. 18mm hardox scalemail and rhombus-shaped petal blades spell doom whenever victims cruise into this Typhoon-shaped house robots path. . ...and then theres Panda-Mick, who makes Infusion look like a...barbequed shrimp. Its...house robot weight (500kg ), whatever that means...wait, forget what I just said. A front forklift will lift robots, and a rear spinning disc will destroy them. Quite simple, innit. Oh, and lets not forget our lovely arena.

      3...
      2...
      1...
      Activate!

The second battle begins, and the seconds tick away as Wedge Devolution is the first to react, sprinting straight towards the quickly spinning Topsy Turvy, whose plans of teaming up with his now current assailant have come to nothing and Liam moves to attack BIACS-LE instead. It seems Dan and Matt dont really have any specific tactics for this fight and decide to attack each other. And luck it seems is in Death Threats favour as BIACS-LE swings the disc over top onto Death Threat, but missing completely as Dan rams the claws straight under BIACS-LE and out away from it, Matt cursing his luck...Topsy Turvy moves away to avoid Death Threat but that gives Steve the moment he needed, and Wedge Devo catches the speedy spinner.

      CRASH!

Its only a deflecting blow, and Topsy Turvy buckles backwards slightly before being given an enormous flip by Wedge Devo, flung straight into the air before coming flat down onto its wheels again. Death Threat decides to play the lets pick on Topsy Turvy game and crashes into Liams FBS from the other side, trying to get the claws into the armour, but only getting a hold around a quarter of the body, which is definitely not enough and Topsy Turvy is pushed back...into Wedge Devo! Liam tries to move his spinner away, but Steve gives it the inevitable FLIP, sending Topsy Turvy flying into the air...and onto BIACS-LEs disc!

      CRASH!!!

Its not a deflecting blow this time, and Topsy Turvy is sent toppling onto its back at an awkward angle, as BIACS-LE moves back to spin up its disc again. Death Threat and Wedge Devo now are battling each other, and Wedge Devo again is grappling the upper hand, or rather, sneaking the flipper under one of Death Threats hands, and letting it rip, sending Death Threat over onto its back quite quickly. Before Death Threat can react, its wedged and tossed again by Steves wedge, and straight onto Topsy Turvy, whos managed to self-right but not able to spin up at all, really. BIACS-LE is back in and looking to cause some trouble, but Steve eyes Mattys machine with a wicked stare, and Wedge Devo moves to attack it. BIACS-LE turns around to point the disc at Wedge Devo, but a nifty reverse manoeuvre from Steve sees the Devo at BIACS-LEs side. Matt isnt given the opportunity to move, as Steve moves under, and surprisingly, Death Threat, having apparently abandoned Topsy Turvy, has manoeuvred to Wedge Devos rear and started pushing it! Wedge Devo tosses Matts machine into Panda-Micks CPZ, but cant turn around as Death Threat has control of it, and now the claws find the back of the Devos sides and squeeze! Panda-Mick lifts up BIACS-LE and turning around places it against the wall corner on its side. Topsy Turvy is back in and spinning, as Death Threat pushes Wedge Devo towards Panda-Micks rear end and that dangerous spinning disc! Panda-Mick bites and backs into Wedge Devo...but no! Wedge Devos flipper has slid under Panda-Micks rear end...and thus Golden Lotus snaps out of its reverie and advances, whirling like a maddened weathervane! Now Panda-Mick is turned turtle, but the forklift lifter activates and tilts it onto its side, and ultimately back on its wheels, but Death Threat has pushed Wedge Devo further into the CPZ...and BIACS-LEs disc!

      CRASH!!!

Matt had his machine righted off the wall and right in position, and Wedge Devos flipper takes a mashing as the wielder of the flipper gets launched backwards on an angle, and falls onto his back, Death Threat nearly taken for the same ride. BIACS-LE is moving out of the way quickly...only to get blocked by Wedge Devo, whos righting himself and proving his flipper is still functional, and Topsy Turvy...and Golden Lotus! He decides to attack Wedge Devo again, and unfortunately it proves disastrous for him, as before he can swing the disc down, Wedge Devo down and under the ground clearance of the cagey caged spinner and throws it into the 500kg house robot that is Golden Lotus!

      CRASH!!!!

Robot Wars: Extreme Destructions name is dishonoured, as THIS is extreme destruction. The entire cage is almost completely pulled away as BIACS-LE is flung across the arena, the armour flailing and hanging on in only a few places. Topsy Turvy sees its chance to attack and screams after the amazingly but still largely functional BIACS-LE, who barrels out of the way...of course that doesnt stop its CAGE from getting hit, but instead of a huge CRASH, bits of fibreglass are strewn across the arena! Death Threat has ignored that for now and is persistently on Wedge Devos case, again a rear attack proving near-fatal for Wedge Devo, but it gets away before the claws can close down. Its prey on the run, Death Threat abandons it for now and turns to see BIACS-LE, rather armourless, hurtling towards him. Topsy Turvy tackles him from the behind and stops the disc...which doesnt appear to be spinning...and Wedge Devo bursts in, tossing Death Threat over onto BIACS-LE. That front plate of Wedge Devos flipper is really helping against these skirts. Topsy Turvy appears to be trying to push BIACS-LE onto Wedge Devos flipper...and Death Threat falls off completely. Seeing danger near, Wedge Devo turns its attentions to Death Threat who charges in at the wrong time, and gets wedged...and drives over Wedge Devo. However its now beached on Wedge Devos rear, and a grinning Steve reverses his machine into...the Disc of Death!

      CRASH!!!

The new angle grinders work wonders, dont they Death Threats top armour takes a pounding, thankfully the tracks were missed but the 5mm Hardox top is dented quite a bit. Wedge Devo turns slightly, and Death Threat falls off the wedge, as Topsy Turvy shunts BIACS-LE right into him. Its not for certain whether Mattys machine is mobile or not, but hes pegged in there so its hard to tell. Wedge Devo backs into Death Threat and starts to push Death Threat, BIACS-LE, AND Topsy Turvy all towards one of the empty CPZs, but one of the kill saws decides to intervene! BZZT! Its Wedge Devo, actually, who takes the hit and sends the McGregor machine flying backwards. This allows Topsy Turvy to break away and finally get up to spinning speed, and BIACS-LE...is still mobile. In fact very much, though the cage is now completely gone, and the chassis horribly exposed. Death Threat turns, shuinting BIACS-LE in front of him, and starts pushing it across the arena. And...uh oh! The middle of the floor is opening, and that means...its Death Egg time! The gigantic spinning hazard rises from the floor, spinning wildly already and narrowly slashing Wedge Devo as it moves around the dome. BIACS-LE meanwhile is being pushed around the Egg itself and finally back into Panda-Micks CPZ. However Topsy Turvy had been following the pair and as Wedge Devo himself catches up to him, smashes Death Threat across the back!

      CRASH!!!

Death Threats rear Hardox panel takes the worst of it, but puts up like the best of them as theres no damage done externally! Wedge Devo crashes the party and...finally is defeated by Topsy Turvys skirts. That doesnt mean he cant push, though, and thats exactly what Steve is doing, pushing all three robots, again, straight into Panda-Mick, who lifts BIACS-LE once more...but it proves futile to strand the awkward spinner as it falls to the side of the house robot...and remains motionless. Is this the end of BIACS-LE? Golden Lotus seems to think so, as its moving back across the arena again! Wedge Devo pushes Topsy Turvy further into the CPZ, shunting Death Threat aside as it does so, and finally breaches the skirts of the FBS, flipping Liams FBS up and on top of Panda-Mick...and out! Take a look at this! Flipped straight onto Panda-Mick...and the house robots spikes guided Topsy Turvy along the wall, over it, and down onto the camera track! So...thats one robot out! And I thin were going to see another one out, as BIACS-LE is going nowhere fast, but Wedge Devo it seems isnt content with merely a count-out! It shunts past Panda-Mick, who tries to flick in the forklifter but fails, shoots under BIACS-LE and tosses it, but BIACS-LE is guided across the railing and back into the arena. Wedge Devo backs up, and Death Threat it seems to determined to remain where it is now and let the wedge handle things. Wedge Devo makes the final vault into BIACS-LE and this time gets his stroke, and BIACS-LE is flipped straight over the wall, and out of the tournament.

      CEASE!

Topsy Turvy twirls down the drain, and BIACS-LE is unable to make more noise than a mouse in a crowded street!
Wedge Devolution and Death Threat 0.2 advance to Round 2!

I actually thought this would be the heat final :P but two good robots here...I think Salamander will at some point get the disc in under Wedges flipper, so Alex to go through.

Death Threat 0.2 vs. Do Or Die
Death Threat to grapple and pit here.

And yes, it was an extremely w00ty fight for someone who was burnt out a week ago.

Problem is, when I burn out, its usually for a very short period of time, or so I found out today.

            And thank ye.

LOL Joey, indeed this is the best fight from a burnt out person I ever saw

I think Wedge Devo shall win as well as Do Or Die!

um.. sorry, but I do have a slight complaint about this. I dont mind losing, but Topsy Turvy isnt an FBS, its a cylinder with a Tornado Mer style blade on top. It is pretty clear in the stats

Is this worthy of a rewrite?

Woo, victory without too much damage!
Awesome fight, Kody, but of course we all knew it would be.

                  TACTICS:
Meh, there isnt much more I can do than grapple and push it into the hazards or the pit. Good luck to Chezza.

                      Salamander III VS WEDGE DEVOLUTION
Most axlebots have an awkward shape, but Salamander should be just right for me. Avoid the disc, ideally aim for the rear, shove it to the nearest wall and watch it fly.

Death Threat 0.1 VS Do or Die
Hmm, toughie. I might go with Death Threat to win on a judges decision.

Sorry Liam. I apologize for misreading the stats, but this time I cant be arsed to do a complete rewrite...especially of that.

I swear this wont happen again (to any of your bots in especial), mkay?
