    The K-TOAD tournament

How did Boxy lose that one? Amazing!

GBOD, drive slow, keep the revs of the shell up and go in full speed into the opponent when it gets near 50 cms of me. I will not allow Wedgas Revenge to nudge me.

Why do people always steal my usb key?

I was going to drop a lot of stats and details onto a word document, take it to work tomorrow, and when I have a quiet 2 hours (which is possible, as nearly everybody will be on a course tomorrow, golf course that is), I could try and hammer out some fights.

And alas, someone has stolen my usb stick

I am planning something rather special for the next 4 games.

All I can tell you is that Woody, everybodys favorite comedy wooden robot returns, to replace the re-drawn Counter

              The K-TOAD tournament

So it is time for the next few matches, written at work when the Mess has been quiet due to it being a Wednesday €˜sports€™ afternoon, so let€™s see if I can crack on with doing the 4 matches I have the details for

I€™m going to try and do something rather different, which I don€™t think has been tried before,

              Round 1, Fights 7 & 8

In arena 1: Wedgas Revenge vs. GBOD
In arena 2: Tenderizers Revenge 2 vs. Resonance

The first machine into the first arena for this special duel-battle, where both battles are to be decided side-to-side, is Wedga€™s Revenge. This machine was entered by Andy J, Wedga is a cut-off wedge with a front scoop, powering the 4 wheels by 2 LEM 130 motors. The weapon is a nitrogen powered flipping arm, which rests inside the front scoop, away from danger, the armour is some tasty Hardox, however it has limited flips, and due to the nature of nitrogen, after a while, each flip gets less and less powerful.

The first machine into the second arena is Tenderizer€™s revenge 2, which will be known as TR2. TR2 is an invertible box, with front & rear wedges, with some handy skirts on the sides which can move up or down, but not left or right or into another universe, depending on whenever Richard wants to go on the defence and be a damn hard object to get underneath raising to skirts off the ground so he can drive the machine around and attack. The main weapon is an arm, which can swing around 360 degree, though a special gap in the machine, I would imagine, so it can be used when upside down or when reversing into attack.

The 2nd machine into the first arena today is the Giant Ball of *checks stats* Death, more commonly known as GBOD. The machine is a full-bodied spinner, need I say more? Yes I do, it has 4 wheels (I think), powered by 2 Bosch motors, the weapon is powered by a Plettenberg Predator Brushless motor, the ground clearance is 1CM all around, which could be a problem if it comes up against a brick which can stall the spinning body and flip, as the self-righting method has proven unreliable in the past, but GBOD has caused quite a lot of damage in the past, will it continue it€™s run?

The final machine into the 2nd arena today is Resonance, entered by Aaron, it€™s is a drum with wheel pods on either side of the drum, the drum has some nasty cutting bits on it and is powered by a single motor inside one of the wheel pods. The drum doesn€™t spin that fast, but it spins which quite a lot of torque to damage and lift other machines away. However, I would imagine it doesn€™t turn as quickly as other machines as the machine is quite wide, but Aaron is one of the best drivers around.

All 4 machines are ready in their respective arenas,

              3
              2
              1
              Activate

And both refs show the green cards, as all 4 machines get on their way, Resonance and GBOD have started to spin their weapons to get them up-to speed, as GBOD dodges Wedga€™s initial starting surge trying to catch GBOD before it could spin up-to speed. Meanwhile in the other arena, Tenderizer€™s revenge has started to drive towards Resonance, as Richard tries to think up with a game plan in order to take advantage of Resonance, and starts to circle Aaron€™s machine, as Aaron keeps the front end pointing towards Tenderizer€™s revenge at all times to avoid a surprise attack. Wedga has launched another attack towards GBOD, as Leo flicks the controllers of Gbod to avoid the front end of Wedga, as Leo flicks once more, as first contact is made, as the spinning body of Gbod hits the skirted side of Wedga.

Sparks fly from the skirt, as it reflects the blades by bending with the energy, as Wedga reverses away from danger as Gbod is up-to speed, once more. Resonance has launched into attack mode, and drives towards Tenderizer€™s revenge, Richard turns to try and launch an attack of his own, trying to clam the triangular ends of the drum, as Aaron makes a mild adjustment, as the drum slams into the front corner of Tenderizer€™s revenge, as Andy launches Wedga into the 4th attack, driving straight into Gbod, guessing Leo€™s dodge and acting to dodge the dodge, as the front wedge hits into the spinning blades of Gbod, the force sends Gbod spinning away, as a large scar is in the front wedge of Wedga, not that deep though, as the blades of Resonance rip into the polycarbonate protection of Tenderizer€™s revenge, as Aaron continues, ripping into the moveable skirt, trying to damage it by the weakness that is the hinge, which is the same weakness of Wedga€™s skirts, as Gbod comes back onto attack, getting a decent hit, ripping the skirt off the body, as Wedga turns, getting underneath Gbod when it€™s not up-to speed as Andy rams it.

Which is what Resonance is doing to Tenderizer€™s revenge, not ramming it, but as the spinning drum catches Tenderizer€™s revenge on something solid, flipping Richard€™s machine onto it€™s back, as Tenderizer€™s revenge using the few seconds before Resonance is back onto attack to run away, the skirt slightly damaged in the way that the rear moves, but the front doesn€™t, as the skirt at an angle. In the other arena Wedga presses the flipper button, as Gbod is flipped, bouncing against the arena wall, coming away from the wall, as Tenderizer€™s revenge 2 drives straight towards Resonance, as Aaron holds the good ship steady in the stormy seas, as Tenderizer€™s revenge slams straight into the frontal drum, as the rear wedge gets underneath, as the arm comes up, as Gbod lands on it€™s wheels, as Leo drives away from danger, to spin up to speed, as Resonance hits into the arm, forcing it backwards, and off the gears which power the arm, as Resonance hits into the exposed skirt, ripping it away from the body, as Gbod comes back onto the attack, driving towards the skirt-less side of Wedga, in the attempt of causing some internal damage to Wedga, as Resonance drives into Tenderizer€™s revenge, the arm stuck up, as the spinning drum slams into the side, sending TR2 over, so it is resting on the arm itself, as Gbod slams into Wedga, spinning Wedga away, leaving some minor damage to the outside of the Hardox shell, but that energy must have gone somewhere, as Tenderizer€™s revenge is stuck again, freeing it from the position, but at the cost of the other skirt, as Wedga turns, and launches into an attack onto Gbod.

Tenderizer€™s revenge looks a mess, no weapons, no skirts, as Resonance slams into the right hand side, causing some lovely damage to the titanium shell, as Wedga hits into Gbod head-on, causing Gbod to spin away, as Andy keeps on top, and slams into Gbod again, flipping it away landing Gbod onto it€™s back. Leo spins the weapon around which frees Gbod away and back onto the wheels, as Tenderizer€™s revenge is down and looks like it is out for the count, as the ref starts to count it down, Richard€™s machine comes back to life, catching Resonance off guard, slamming into the side wheel pod, pushing Resonance sideways, before Aaron can free his machine, as Gbod gets slammed into once more by Wedga, as Andy fires the flipper again, sending Gbod onto it€™s back, as Wedga moves forward, a loud bang is heard, as Resonance hits into Tenderizer€™s revenge at full speed, sending Richard€™s machine into a roll, as it lands, side armour laying all over the shop, rear wedge holding onto the robot just, as Resonance slams into Tenderizer€™s revenge once more, as the wedge departs from Tenderizer€™s revenge, as Wedga moves forward, slowly, as Gbod is spinning around, trying to free itself, as Wedga slams into Gbod once more, stopping the spinning top. 20 seconds remain in both battles, as Tenderizer€™s revenge is driven away from Resonance, circling it, trying to avoid any more damage, as the flipper fires on Wedga sending Gbod over the arena wall, as the time is slowly ticking down for the 2nd battle. Wedga turns but stops, Andy tries to move, but there is a worried look on his face, as the flipper fires to show there is life, as Resonance moves into a final attack before the time ends, slamming into the rear end of Tenderizer€™s revenge, flipping it over once more.

              Cease

Wedga€™s Revenge has flipped Gbod over the arena wall, and is though to round 2, but with some serious damage, as Resonance€™s battle against Tenderizer€™s revenge has got to go to a judge€™s decision, as Aaron thinks he has the victory on damage alone.

Wedga is removed from the arena, as Andy breaks open the body shell to find some rather shocking news, the motors have physically broken loose of the chassis, due to the shocks shearing the bolts holding the motors down, causing some nasty damage to the drive reduction system, but it is repairable. As the judges have finished inspecting both machines to take into effect the damage caused to Tenderizer€™s revenge, as all the broken pieces are picked up and placed into a carrier bag, Richard looks like he has lost, as the scores come in.

Damage Caused - 10 points to Resonance, 0 Points to Tenderizer€™s revenge, as Tenderizer€™s revenge caused no damage to Resonance which is notable
Aggression - 7 points to Resonance, 3 points to Tenderizer€™s revenge.
Control - 8 points to Resonance, 2 points to Tenderizer€™s revenge, Aaron only allowed himself to get attacked twice, where Richard got a bit beaten up by side-attacks

              Total: Resonance 25, Tenderizer€™s revenge 5.

Resonance moves onto round 2 with a 25-5 decision over Tenderizer€™s revenge 2, as Andy has a couple hard nights with some spanners, and that is before he gets to work on fixing Wedga to face the pit-ball terrier of Flick of the Wrist, as half of the round 1 matches have been competed, so I ask you€¦

              €¦did I confuse you?

Match 9 will be Turbo Tails against a very special guest replacing Counter.

                The K-TOAD tournament

                Round 1, Fight 9

Half-way though the round, 8 machines are into the 2nd round and another 8 machines have been sent home.

                Turbo Tails vs. Counter

The first machine into the arena today is Turbo Tails, which is a short low box, with front wedge and rear spinning bar mounted on the top of the machine. This spinning bar spins at around 2 and a half thousand rpm. The power for the drive comes from 4 wheels and the armour is Hardox, with a layer of fur on top of the armour. The self-righter is a front hinged flipper, at the front.

The 2nd machine into the area today is Counter, but due to Counter being stupid, and driving into the swimming pool on the way to the warehouse today, it has been replaced by everybody€™s favourite machine, yes people it is the return of Woody, the wooden robot, but due to damage against Drilla Killa, it has only got rear-wheel drive, with the front wheels being there to hold up the front.

                3
                2
                1
                Activate

Turbo Tails spins up it€™s spinning bar, as Woody doesn€™t move, the driver of Woody, a mysterious man all in black, and wearing sunglasses, is trying to get the comedy robot to move, as Turbo Tails slams into the side with the bar, ripping though the wooden armour like it was made of wood, as Woody jumps forward, before stopping dead. Another slam from Turbo Tails, this time from the front, flipping Woody onto it€™s side, before spinning around and destroying Woody.

20 seconds later, Turbo Tails comes back, with Woody in a pile of firewood, wheelchair bent and destroyed.

                Cease

Turbo Tails destroys Woody and moves into the 2nd round.

The next battle will see the return of the champion, as Shiny Happy People takes on The May Tracks Has You.

                  The K-TOAD tournament

                  Round 1, Fight 10
Shiny Happy People vs. The May Tracks Has You (1)

The first robot into the arena today is Shiny Happy People, looking shiny, with thanks to Robbie Williams making his last album completely rubbish, the CDs are attached to some lovely cardboard, attached to a wooden chassis, with the front wedge which doesn€™t actually go anywhere near the ground, the power comes from some old VW group windscreen wiper motors, so the top speed is limited to 4 mph, with hardly any power to push other machines backwards.

The 2nd robot into the arena today is the robot everybody wants to beat, it is May Tracks has You. Frank€™s tracked machine is unchanged from the last series where it beat everything, with it€™s Hardox shell, flipper, spikes at the front of the wedge to trap other machines to rip their wheels. The ground clearance is covered by skirts, however the skirts are only 3mm titanium, so if Frank isn€™t careful and gets hit by a spinner, the skirts could say goodbye, but Frank is a very good driver, being able to control the tracked machine to keep the front end pointing at other machines.

But both machines are in the arena, as the clock is ticking down, slowly to midnight, tick tock, tick tock, until a deal is stuck at the 59th minute of the 11th hour, so the nuclear war is put on hold, which is good, which allows us to:

                  3
                  2
                  1
                  Activate

The May Tracks Has You launches forward, driving straight towards Shiny Happy People, as the driver of Shiny Happy People drives towards May Tracks, as Frank gets underneath the front ground clearance of Shiny Happy People, pushing it towards the arena wall, without any restriction from Shiny Happy People as the flipper fires sending the wooden machine over the fence, crashing down onto the camera tracks.

                  Cease

Shiny Happy People didn€™t have a chance, as May Tracks moves onto round 2, as all 3 comedy machines are out, as 6 matches remain, as Flyte vs. Autosim is next up.

Hehe! Thats a very good idea Dave, and I enjoyed it alot. I also thought the idea of ending both matches at once was very clever. Although it got very confusing, I think if you did the two battles in different colours that concept would be pretty good. Very original concept anyway, good stuff!

OK. My go with Autoism, and the first EVER fight for either of Autoism and Flyte, so it should be quite interesting. Ive already read the prediction and tactics for Flyte and it seems he wants me to attack him first so Aaron can use the power drive tactic to lower his front down and get under me. Go ahead - hell stop and Ill just drive straight into the sides of Flyte!

He has Titanium skirts, so lower my Hardox pliars down so I can grip onto them. Then slam him into the walls with my Storm 2 like power (By the way, Autoism is more powerful than Flyte, so I can break the skirts) and then ram him into the walls and attempt o rip the skirts OFF! If hew gets under, no problem - I can drive inverted, and given that his flipper produces 600kg at the tips, Ive got little to fear, in that he wont (in most cases) get me OOTA in 1 flip. So basically, drive in, grab the skirts, and drag him to the pit release button and then shove him down.

I might do it again, but Im already getting plans for series 4.

                            Autoism VS Flyte

Flyte hasnt got the statistical advantage, but its a hell of a lot smaller then Autoism (Making it hard for him to catch and attack) and its going to be a heap more controllable with 15MPH compared to his 23MPH speed. HP means nothing really if you cant get it to the floor, Storm 2 has been out pushed by Tornado... Ill also remove the skirts from Flyte for this battle.

Because of his speed, his skirts are going to bounce along the floor, regardless of them being tensions down with springs (Unless they were tensiond so much that they start lifting the bot up..) so as hes flying around the arena in an uncontrolled manor, Ill take a shot from the side, push him to the wall and flip him over or stack him against the wall.

Flyte to manuver, dodge and evade all Autoisms attacks and strike when he makes a mistake.

                                Aaron, some questions about Flyte.

1 - How many wheels does it have?
2 - What shape is it?
