        The K-TOAD tournament

I wonder which would win, Counter vs. Boxy.

Counter is alright, as the deadly acid weapon wont play a part as its not allowed. Curse my laziness in checking robots

          The K-TOAD tournament

Mmm...recalculated Tira IIIs kJ properly...so Im gonna give proper tactics, and predictions too.

          Acronyms vs. Hypertension Mk 3

I think Matty could swing this one. An OOTA might do it. Acronyms IIRC is the one with the gimble-system jaw weapon, and it looks NASTY, but I think Hypertension can get around it and go for an OOTA. If not, lord help him.

          Baldur vs. Tira III

Okay. Baldur is quite tough, but if Tira can get some good hits on the 5mm hardox sides and rear she can probably tear off a panel or two thanks to the 98.5kJ she dishes out in every hit. Dont aim for the front at all, as its gonna be hard too damage. Chances are hell get in there a lot anyway, but hell get flipped over every time by the disc, allowing Tira to attack the rear. If Im lucky hopefully Baldurs scoops mechanism will break after enough hits. Tiras side plows should stop him from getting at her own sides and rear, and throw him into the disc. This battle doesnt look so bad after a while.

          Orka MK4 vs. Avarice (4)

This, however, does. Orka is quite a tough machine, and has more than enough power to boss Avarice around the arena. Im not sure what Avarice can do to Orka, to be honest, but hopefully my newly reinforced axe will stay on after it hits a few times. Anyway my main tactics for Avarice are to try to get under him. It doesnt matter where, just get under him. When Avarice does, ram him into a wall and whack him with that axe. If he doesnt, give him a whack and retreat, then try again. Right whenver I get flipped. Occasionally drive circles around him to confuse him.

Metal Sonic Spin Dash vs. Axe To Fall

Both good machines, but MSSD I think has the advantage due to a weapon that can actually damage vulnerable parts. I think he will get under Axe to Fall more often than vice-versa, and then saw the tires. Steve for the win, I think.

          Wedgas Revenge vs. GBOD

Im liking GBOD, but this aint his match. Its a good spinner, but I think Wedga will edge him out here.

Flick of the Wrist vs. Forklift 2 (3)

Flick of the Wrist, fast drive, powerful lifting spikes, but he presents lots of areas for Forklift to attack, while Forklift doesnt. That flipper of Forklifts will certainly get under the 1st series champ and toss him around quite a bit. This is Martyns match, sorry Martijn.

          Tenderizers Revenge 2 vs. Resonance

Resonance looks devastating. If Tenderizer can get in and stop that drum from reaching full speed, then he has a shot, but its not looking good from my point of view.

          Disco-Tech 2 vs. BIACS-LE

If this goes to a JD, Id vote Disco-Tech 2 for cosmetic damage, but I think BIACS-LE can produce a KO here before that happens.

          Drilla Killa 7 vs. D-J

Tim actually has a half-near realistic vapourbot here. Not that it makes any difference. Drilla Killa to pit him instantly.

          Nitro-Gene 2 (2) vs. Die-Ceratops Re-Invertus

Not looking good for Paul. Then again, Chaos 2 had a lot of GC and Wheely Big Cheese couldnt get squat done. In a battle of two good flippers...I think I will side with Nitro-Gene 2 as he has a better rate of attack then Die-Ceratops, but if Die-Ceratops gets one flip in, itll likely be the end for Nitro-Gene.

          Flyte vs. Autosim

Flyte to toss Pauls bot OOTA.

          Turbo Tails vs. Counter

          Turbo Tails for the KO.

Shiny Happy People vs. The May Tracks Have You (1)

I think I will take May Tracks here for the KO.

          Eternia vs. Dante

40mm HDPE armour is VERY good for standing up to a mean disc like Dantes. Plus Dante has to self-right every time he gets flipped, and Eternia can just keep charging in every time. Leo will take this one.

          Death Threat 0.1 vs. Boxy

          Death Threat.

SOR Hex vs. Cat With Wheels

Cat With Wheels looks like a good vapourbot . Unfortunately, I think SoR Hex can outdo it here due to that rear horizontal bar. Cat With Wheels to get the skirts torn off, and then some nice flips at the sides will leave it outside the arena.

          Thus, predictions and improved tactics.

People who call other people freaks/idiots are automatically freaks/idiots themselves. YOU do the maths.

We DO want fair fights. What youre clearly doing with Counter is not giving us fair fights. Youre the one to blame, not us.

                The K-TOAD tournament

Ah for some strange reason this reminds me of the time I came up with a robot with a gallium cored cooled spike - gallium being a metal that melts at room temperature. Essentially when it pierced a robot the core would melt due to the temperature in the other bot, drip out and short circuit everything inside the other robots. Its so unbelievably illegal though, lol

                  The K-TOAD tournament

This is shaping up to be a great tournament!

                  «Wedga€™s Revenge vs. GBOD»

I am actually quite happy with this draw. GBOD is a very good shell spinner but Wedga€™s Revenge is designed to beat it in almost every possible way. First of all I need to use my front scoop to drive into GBOD and stall the shell. Being rounded and only having a Bosch drive it really isn€™t suited to pushing so from there I should find it easy to push it against the wall. From there I can slide under that 10mm ground clearance and throw it over. Up against the wall I have a good chance of throwing it clean OOTA. If not then just put it on its back - those vertical self righting bars never work, so I€™ll just watch it bounce helplessly around the ring like a mad spinning top. If I repeat this process throughout the match it should be fairly simple.

«SOR Hex vs. Cat With Wheels»

Cat With Wheels is a pretty solid vapourbot, but the difference between the two bots in this fight is that I also have the destructibility factor. I€™ll be using the horizontal bar in this fight. Basically I€™ll be aiming to spin up and try and take out those side skirts. If I can get a couple of decent hits on them they should eventually come off. Then that allows me to exploit that high ground clearance with my flipper and flip it around a bit. Basically I€™ll be nagging away at the side panels and skirts in this match with the spinner, and just using a couple of flips now and then so I can conserve my flipper for self-righting. As I am skirted, invertible and can self-right it isn€™t really going to pose much of a problem.

My predictions for the winners of the other fights are: Acronyms, Baldur, Avarice, Axe to Fall, Flick of the Wrist, Resonance, BIACS-LE, Drilla Killa 7, Die-Ceratops Re-Invertus, Flyte, Turbo Tails, The May Tracks Have You, Eternia and Death Threat 0.1

Tim: The draw has already been made€¦ I doubt you can pull out now. It€™s no good calling us freaks because you made a robot that is clearly illegal. Chris pretty much said it perfectly, you€™re design would be a disadvantage to us, not to you. So why is it us that do not want fair fights? This is by far the best tournament format that has been around for a long time - so don€™t ruin it for us! :P

                            The K-TOAD tournament

                            The Killer Toad Tournament.

                            Round 1, Fight 1.

Right, allow me to press the button on the randomiser to see which of the 16 round 1 fights will come up first.

*flashing lights, funny noises, more lights, as list of fights roll around on a massive screen for no propose other than to look classy*

And the first fight will be:
Metal Sonic Spin Dash vs. Axe to Fall

The first machine into the arena today is Metal Sonic Spin Dash, from Steve, it is a 6 wheel drive machine, where all the wheels are inside the robot, protected by some lovely Hardox, powered by some lovely Lem motors giving 18 or so horsepower, the bite comes from the front mounted vertical spinning saw blade mounted in the wedge, ready to slice and dice other machines into showing the white flag.

The second machine into the arena today is the Ref, sporting a lovely counter in which to count out machines, he is in the arena for the first time this series, ready to catch out any naughty behaviour.

The third and hopefully final machine into the arena today is Axe to Fall, which is rolling in now, sporting that lovely big axe, which is lovely, hopefully Martijn€™s machine will do better in series 3 then it did last series, where it was out-controlled by Forklift and sent over the fence, nothing has been changed, so it still has the Lem drive over 4 wheels, powered at a potential difference to 48 volts compared to the earth€™s surface. Will the axe, axe into other machines?

The fences are up, as all the robots are positioned into the correct starting positions, the Ref is standing in between both machines, ready to allow the battle to begin, but before the battle starts, allow me to introduce you to the judge, whom if both robots are still moving after 5 minutes will be bought in to judge on the battle, and award points in 3 areas. Aggression is how aggressive the machine has been, has it been on the attack or in defence? Damage Caused is the damaged caused to the other robot, not to the arena, however if you self-harm yourself, it won€™t look good in the Control area, on how controlled you have been, each area is ranked out of 10 points spilt between the 2 machines, so a max of 30 points. It might not be the most stylist of systems, but as I can€™t find a 4th area is in which I€™m happy enough to award points in, the 3 will have to do. The judge reserves the right to come out and to inspect the machines for damage, if he wants to.

Right, I think that€™s all the introduction rubbish out of the way, as the announcer of the arena beings to announce to the world:
                            Roboteers stand by

                            3
                            2
                            1
                            Activate

And the green light appears on the Ref, as he reverses back out of the way, as Axe to Fall comes out straight onto the attack, to get the axe blow onto Spin Dash before the saw blade is up to speed, there is hardly anything between the 2 machines in terms of speed, where the Scottish Spin Dash has a 0.44 metres per second advantage, but having skirts and 6 wheels, Axe to Fall has the better manoeuvrability in theory, but what€™s theory in practise, as Spin Dash dodges the first attack by Axe to Fall, as Martijn turns his machine to counter-act the attack by Spin Dash to try and get underneath the side and attack the polycarbonate to start scoring points.

Martijn turns Axe to Fall again, so the front scoop is facing the front end of Spin Dash, as Steve puts on full power to try and get underneath Axe to Fall, as at the last moment, Spin Dash spins around to get to the side of Axe to Fall, the Dutch machine spins around, so both front ends meet up, the axe fires for the first time, as Spin Dash gets underneath the front scoop of Axe to Fall and causes some lovely sparks, as the axe comes down onto the Hardox top of Spin Dash, it comes away, leaving a smallish dent in the top of Spin Dash, as Steve puts on full power, as he begins to push Axe to Fall across the arena, Martijn trying to get away, but the front wheels are off the ground, as the axe fires another couple times, landing similar blows into the top of Spin Dash, each time making a small dent into the top, nothing major though.

Spin Dash slams Axe to Fall into the arena wall, as Axe to Fall jumps onto the top of Spin Dash, so the front saw of Spin Dash is showing, as Spin Dash reverses to keep Axe to Fall on top, and away from that axe, Martijn spins Axe to Fall off the top of Spin Dash and firing the axe as he gets away, and Spin Dash spins around, the axe hitting the gap between the side skirt and the side of the machine, causing the gap to get bigger, as Martijn puts on full power and gets underneath the side of Spin Dash, firing the axe again into the lid of Spin Dash, as Axe to Fall slams Spin Dash into the arena wall pit release button.

2 minutes remain, as Axe to Fall releases Spin Dash, as both machines go away from each other to get another attack, as both are coming together, at the last moment, Spin Dash dodges the attack and pulls a bluff onto Axe to Fall, as Martijn spins the wrong way, as Spin Dash comes into the side armour, tearing the polycarbonate up, as the front end of Spin Dash disappears underneath the side of Axe to Fall, as Martijn pulls on the controls and tries to break free from Spin Dash, whose is making some lovely holes in the base plate of Axe to Fall, as Axe to Fall spins away from Spin Dash, the axe fires and lands into the gap at the front of Spin Dash, as the saw is stopped, but the axe blade of Axe to Fall when it redraws is still stuck in Spin Dash, as both machines come head-on for only the 3rd time of the battle, as both machines hit, causing a dead-lock, the wheels are spinning as Spin Dash is being forced backwards, the extra voltage from Axe to Fall is doing the trick, as Spin Dash is forced into the wall, suddenly Axe to Fall shoots forward as Spin Dash shoots up the front end of Martijn€™s machine, Steve is shocked, as he has no traction on the cylinder, as the axe fires, trapping Spin Dash onto the front.

Axe to Fall turns and drives, bringing Spin Dash towards the opened pit, as the distance between pit and robots decreases, smoke is coming from Spin Dash, as all 6 wheels are trying to get grip and to escape, but Axe to Fall raises the axe and breaks, sending Spin Dash down the hole.

                            Cease

A long battle, which saw damage to both machines, Martijn hasn€™t got a clue at what damage awaits him on the base of the machine, but Super Sonic Spin Dash goes out.

As he will face the winner of Orka vs. Avarice.

                            The next battle will be

*presses the button on the randomiser to see which of the 15 round 1 fights will come up next.

And the second fight will be:

                                The Killer Toad Tournament

SOR Hex vs. Cat with Wheels

And so it comes around to the 2nd fight in round 1.

The first robot into the arena today is SOR Hex, from Andy J, it is a box wedge with skirts around the sides, and a front nose with the flipper, at the rear Andy has picked to fit the spinning bar to cause destruction, the armour comes from everybody€™s favourite source, at 4mm Hardox.

The second robot into the arena today is €œIf Cats Had Wheels, We Could Have Cat Races, How Cool Would That Be€, also known as Cat With Wheels, which is what I shall be calling it because €œIf Cats Had Wheels, We Could Have Cat Races, How Cool Would That Be€ is a long name, and could have easily come from the stables of Frank, but it isn€™t, instead it comes from Danny B. The main weapon comes from a front hinged flipper, and the armour is titanium.

Both machines are in the arena, and without further delay

                                3
                                2
                                1
                                Activate

SOR Hex spins around on the spot straight away to get the rear end into play, to attack Cat with Wheels, Danny meanwhile has launched into an attack, trying to get to the skirted sides of SOR Hex, as both machines close together, Danny making a quick turn to try to get to the sides, as front end of Cat with Wheels meets side skirt of SOR Hex, and the front end of Cat with Wheels goes up the side skirts, Andy spins around in the hope of introducing the rear spinning bar onto Cat with Wheels.

Danny, who I keep thinking is Paul, makes a getaway before the spinning bar can attack, spinning around to re-think his tactics of trying to get underneath the side of SOR Hex, as he has an idea and reverses to hit the pit release button, meanwhile SOR Hex is crossing the arena, again in reverse to try to bring the spinning bar into play, Cat with Wheels once again drives away from SOR Hex, but turns and puts on full power, slamming right into the rear spinning blade of SOR Hex, sparks fly as the bar hits the armour, making a lovely cut, but Cat with Wheels is underneath SOR Hex, as the flipper fires, sending SOR Hex over onto it€™s back, as Andy drives away keeping the rear end facing Cat With Wheels, as Danny gives chase, in the hope of not giving Andy enough freedom to fire the flipper to send SOR Hex back onto it€™s back.

SOR Hex turns and tries to shock attack Cat with Wheels, but Danny quickly dodges the attack, but fails to get underneath the side, as SOR Hex spins around to dodge the attack, as the rear spinning bar hits the side skirts of Cat with Wheels, which start to peel away from the rear of the armour as a side-effect of trying to get rid of the kinetic energy, as Cat with Wheels comes in with another attack, with another attempt of getting to the side to get underneath to force SOR Hex into the pit, as Danny is all over Andy now, SOR Hex spins around once more to avoid Cat with Wheels from getting underneath the sides, as the spinning bar hits the front wedge of Cat with Wheels, as Danny ploughs in underneath SOR Hex again, CO2 is pouring out of Cat with Wheels, the bar must have hit a vital point in the flipper system, as Danny has a look of panic on his face.

However, he remains in control as SOR Hex is slowly getting pushed towards the pit, Andy fires the flipper, a few feet away from the pit, as SOR Hex self-rights, but Cat with Wheels suddenly flies forward, with the sudden removal of 100 or so kilos of robot, Danny spins, narrowly avoiding the pit, as SOR Hex spins around, and attacks Cat with Wheels front end first, Cat with Wheels€™ flipper is out of action, which is worrying for Danny as that flipper is his self-righting device, as he dodges the attack from SOR Hex, as Andy launches another attack, as Cat with Wheels runs away, of which the judge writes down the details. A minute remains, as Danny knows if it goes to a decision, his damage would cost him, as SOR Hex comes at Cat with Wheels once more with the aim of a quick flip.

Danny dodges the attack and puts all his power into slamming into the rear end of SOR Hex, the spinning bar making some more damage to the front flipper, as Cat with Wheels gets underneath SOR Hex, the wheels are spinning as the grip is reduced down to near nothing, the spinning bar is spinning at nothing, as Cat with Wheels is pushing SOR Hex towards the pit of doom, as SOR Hex tries to get away, but this time Andy€™s machine is flipper side up, so he can€™t use the same trick twice to get away from Cat with Wheels, as Cat with Wheels slams into reverse to stop, sending SOR Hex forward, off the wedge and down the pit. Cat with Wheels tries to move, but there is noise coming from the machine, but no movement from the wheels.

                                Cease

Danny should be celebrating, but he has a look of worry on his face about the drive system of Cat with Wheels, not to mention the slightly damaged front flipper system, and I use the word slightly in the lightest sense, the word I should be using can€™t be said on this forum, but it has 6 letters, begins with the letter F, ends with ked and has a UC in it between the F and the Ked, and that€™s not to mention the damage to the right hand side skirt, but at least Cat with Wheels is thought into round 2, to face either Boxy or Death Threat 0.1.
