lol Clive, MD doesnt quite make the FW weight limit. Dave got it, checker or tread plate. I just cut up 5 2500x2000 of 7.5mm last week.

As much as it pains me to say it.. I have to agree with Kody on this one!
You are being offered advice by some of the best brains in the business here, which you seem to choose to disregard.
These people give their time and advice freely for the benefit of our sport/hobby, and the only thing they ask in return is a little respect.
If I may make a sugestion, ask one question at a time, if you dont fully understand the answer, dont be ashamed to ask for clarifacation.
Then go and act on that advice, be that either by building something or incorperating that advice into your plans for future machines.
Once you are happy that you fully understand that paticular point, please feel free to ask your next question.

Please dont think Im getting at you personaly (one or two people on this forum have had the same lecture off me from time to time!)
Im only trying to point out that we are all here to help each other out with any problems or questions and on the whole it works very well, BUT carrying on the way you have been in this thread will not score you many points on the how to win friends and influence people scale.

So please remember, a little thought before posting and a little respect goes a long way!

(P.S Building a reliable six wheel drive feather isnt as easy as you may think... Trust me, I know, P.I.T.As gearbox and transmission set up took me nearly 3 months to finaly get right!!:sad: )

Hold it, Geoff, I want to answer this one. :P

Ben, yes you DO mean to argue there, because you blatantly threw my own project in my face. :P Do realize that most pneumatic systems are easier than hydraulics systems, which is what you seem to be after. Also, not to brag, but I do declare I know more about the internals of a robot than you do (given by the questions you are asking), so I am more ready to take on the epic quest of building a combat robot. Gathered, no, Altitude is not simple at all, in fact no robot is, but its one of the easier ones to do. I myself would not undertake the task of making a robot like Razer or Tiberius because I do not have a thorough, or even basic understanding of hydraulics, and you definitely seem not to.

In short: dont argue, and PLEASE. TAKE. ADVICE.

Thanks Leo. That setup is just a work of art! It is probably too complicated to work in the lightweight I am designing, but its given me another idea; would I be right in saying that in a planetary gearbox, any two of the elements are rotating and the 3rd is fixed? Im thinking of converting an existing 4:1 gearbox to have fixed planetary gears and a rotating ring gear.

Speed 900 with a 8/1 gearing and 120mm wheels are a good drive, on 12V, if you can achive 4wd, youll have a very good pusher.


Unfortunatly, I dont have a picture of Presser atm.
