    Re: Spiderbot

I have been doing a bit more on the Spiderbot, most of the initial leg restoration is finished. And the aluminium chassis is fitted in place. the legs do seem to be a little bit stiffer in the horizontal plane, so it may turn a little better than before.
There is always lots to do on this type of robot, and like Pilgrim I do get the feeling they are never complete, just a continual work in progress, but the fun is in the build.

Talking of building, I am putting together some ideas for the replacement Saint. So far I have the MAG motors some A123 batteries and some hubs and sprockets for the transmission.
It will probably be another thwack bot as everyone seems to like the crazy way that robot dose things.
Any Ideas for the new Saint post them here
I would like to make a robot that actually dose some damage, but I just don't have the heart.
Still this is all for another thread.

      Re: Spiderbot

With mag motors and an axe head in place of the sword it may well do some damage, if it doesnt, would look and sound great

              Re: Spiderbot

Was it at Burgess Hill last week end? I think I saw it. I don't know what I would do with the old Saint probably scrap it after the new one is sorted.

                      Re: Spiderbot

We took the Spiderbot to Aylesbury on Sunday, It seemed to be well received by the public.

As always with a first outing after some major renovations, you wonder if the thing is ever going to work right, but to it's credit it did!

Some small problems came to my attention.

Firstly the battery tray was marked from the batteries bouncing about even with the clamp tight, so I have put some padding on the tray to reduce vibration through the robot to the batteries this should help to increase the life expectancy of the batteries.

And secondly on the lower leg swivel pin the retaining clips slipped this is due to the sideways forces on them when you turn the robot round, so I am sorting out another method for retaining the bushes in position.

If anyone took some videos of the Spiderbot please post them here.
