      Re: Spiderbot

Just a few pictures of Spiderbot. I thought people would like to see this one as walkers are quite rare and it may inspire others to make and run walker robots.

I have removed the top covers and am re-mounting the motors, the idea is they should have some movement allowed. So I am making some rubber washers to help loads of spring washers and Nyloc nuts.

      The old system

The new system with rubber mounting washers

Some other images of the walker

And finally the double crank that operates four legs on one side.

Hope you enjoyed looking at the Spiderbot

            Re: Spiderbot

Seen that video before I don't know who the robot belongs too or if it still exists in that form but it would be nice to see it at one of the shows.

I have re fitted the other motor so they are both done, and designed a new floor and electronics tray for the robot hope to get that finished this week. I took the eyes off the robot and are going to re do them so they move with the steering using a servo to move them, I am looking for lights for the eyes anyone got any ideas for that?

                Re: Spiderbot

I tried a quick forum search but it proved fruitless, would anyone know of a site/place that had the schematics for this type of system. I would like to scale it down into an antweight.

Hi the best start would be this site If you go to the concept page info can be found there.

                  http://www.mechanicalspider.com/index.html

Dose anyone recognise this lamp holder? As I would like to replace them thanks

                      Re: Spiderbot

They look like a standard MR16 GX5.3 spot light fittings although depending on their actual size they could be MR11 with a GU4 base.

I wouldn't recommend fitting a Halogen bulb as they are pressurized with halogen gas, reach very high temperatures and are actually quite prone to contamination from grease and finger prints reducing the bulbs life. If you are looking for a replacement you could get LED ones which are alot safer, last longer and run alot cooler.

                        http://www.energylightbulbs.co.uk/produ ... -Connector

Yes thanks they do look like these I was thinking of using the LED type as I don't like the Halogen lamp in my house let alone in a robot!

Also if anyone dose 3D print some leg mechanisms for an ant robot I would like some too It would be nice to make a miniature version of Spiderbot

                          Some pictures showing some progress

First a picture of the leg linkage nothing too complex there.

The Sidewinder now has the cables and plugs attached

There are two large steel box sections running across the robot not doing much these will be replaced with Aluminium channel to save weight.
