does anyone know how thick you need aluminium to stop a crusher/axes as I've bought a 5mm thick piece as my top plate and i'm hoping it will do

                  Re: scruffy

if its a non spinner 5mm should be fine.
maybe too thick cos that.will hold back a few spinners.

                    Re: scruffy

on laser 2 we have 3mm thick ali checkerplate. it is very good as a lid, it survived getting puunded by battleaxe, so I would say it would stand up to all fw hitters, not so sure on crushers as we havent faced any of them.

                          Re: scruffy

ok so far with all main components bar a few bolts the robot weighs 11.55kg and i still need to attach some spikes to the back and a scoop at the front but if my calculations are correct it should come in just under weight, ill hopefully have some pics and a vid up soon maybe of the 2 battling as the is a basketball court near by that ill be great for testing

gonna make 2 more of the bolt on scoops 1 for either side, dunno weather to make them slightly shorter or not though and also intending to to make a few other interchangeable bits for the front just gotta think of something lol .............. any ideas ????????/

oh also done a bit of a test drive on a naff drill pack but waiting on battery's from china for a proper test

                              cool man.
if its that wide it would be good to have a scoop along the width
                              is that 5mm-that looks indestructible!

the sides are 8mm mild steel, the base is 3mm steel and the top is 5mm aluminium so should be able to take a good beating
