    Re: scruffy

That looks amazing (Jealous), Lovely paint job (Very Jealous), and the LED's to, reminds me of K9 off Doctor Who

You said you were worried about spinners. What is the armour? 5mm Steel all the way round?

Cos of the angles at the back you wont have any catch points for horizontals like NST. The front corners could be beveled away to remove those 90 DGR corners.

Verticals like myself will struggle to get at the front cos of the angle but will probably get good hits at the back. All the more reason to practice driving

Cant wait to meet it in battle!

      Re: scruffy

lol my girlfriend thought it looked a bit like K9 and the armour is 5mm steel front back and sides, 2mm steel base, 4mm aluminium top and the top of the lifting arm is 3mm but the scoop if 5mm ...... so i think it might be ok against spinners but i think so have gone through hardox at about that thickness

        Re: scruffy

Inertia XL has gone through Hardox 5mm and 3mm Ti,

Same with NST but for some reason NST causes more damage, well you end up in more bits...

          Re: scruffy

The back of LF3 for the champs was Aluminium because it was overweight with the new flipper system. Inertia has made dents in 4mm hardox but not gone throught that I know of.

              Re: scruffy

Very nice looking robot that- good job!

Inertia did get through the 4mm Hardox on Tiny Toon and the 3.2mm Hardox on Explosion but I reckon you will be fairly safe with 5mm steel

Look forward to seeing it in the arena

I've just realised your robot is called Scruffy and your avatar is Scruffy from Futurama!

                      Re: scruffy

next 2 robots i'm aiming to build are a 4x4 invert-able ram bot (tornado shape ish ) hopefully should be able to use 8mm thick steel for front back and sides with a 3mm steel base and 5mm aluminum top ......the other is a flipper that will look like the last robot i built just 50mm longer and with a chassis instead of solid steel monocoque structure

                                Re: scruffy

OK so I've scraped the first plastic scruffy and used the bit to build scruffy 4X4 so far it has a 3mm thick base and 8mm thick sides, at the moment cant decide what to do with the front i was originally going to weld a bit of 8mm across the front and put some spikes and attachable bits to allow it to get under opponents a bit but i could weld 2 bit of 30x3 flat bar across the front(to reinforce it and have something to boy to) and make interchangeable front ends eg wedge, scoop ......

so if anyone's got any ideas
