I thought I'd made my point as politely as possible

Personally, I see that as our colour scheme. These are used so that the crowd can recognise robots from certain teams. By having two teams use one scheme the whole purpose is completely redundant!

There are many other colour schemes that you could use

This size isn't final, I'm trying to find any way of reducing it. The width includes wheel guards, width at the moment without wheel guards is about 32cm.

geting rid of the rubbishy 12 sla and getting a 18v nimh pack is probably a good idea
