FRA UK Featherweight Championship 2014 hosted by RoboChallenge
Its made of spit and kleenex with a small amount of polycarbonate The top is definitely the weakest part.
To be honest with you, I think that's the same with most machines, mine is definitely the same. 6/7ishmm hardox round the sides, 2.5mm stainless on the top, with some 3mm hdpe in choice places! The power of the spinners means that side armour definitely gets prioritised I think...
Mr Mangle still only has a 3mm polycarb top; I am hoping those roll-over hoops will act as extra axe protection from front & back attacks. Look at it this way - you have extremely thick armour and Mr Mangle is definitely not a NST, Binky or 720
Even thicker now , in all seriousness i think our fight could potentially be very good, my axe could easily get through your top panel but your beater could chuck me around quite a bit and Loki despite it's thin armour is built quite strongly and looks like it might be a tenacious little thing. I'm very much looking forward to it (at least more than i'm looking forward to having 2 fights with Binky).
Perhaps its because I never have much luck with vertical disks, but Binky is my 'most feared' UK bot.
Why, any particular reason? She only got 1 or 2 good hits in last year. 720 could send Mr Mangle back to Aus for free if it gets a good hit and NST could flat pack it for you if you would prefer to take it on as hand luggage.
NST probably won't do much to mr mangle. Maybe sheer a couple of bolts...that frame is mega strong... And against 720 it would just be a flipping match. Be good to see the brushless drive running.
That's right Dave, having run an under-cutter for years, I know what it take to make a bot proof against horizontal spinners - the front corners are 17.71mm thick and the back corners are 8mm with large gusset plates. In the worst case of losing the weapon against a horizontal spinner, I can just drive backwards and let the other bot throw itself in the pit or over the wall.
With vertical disks, Mr Mangle will usually get flipped and if its near a wall, then its game over. I think the hoops will surprise everyone but they are not perfect if flipped into a corner or the pit etc.
