    Re: Pit Rules

Im not to familiar with the set ups most EO`s have, only been to one non - RR event so far. However after activate, surly the computer could make a red light come over the pit after two minutes. No need for a timekeeper in this case, as if your in the pit when the light comes on, your out, and the judges would be well aware of that. So maybe a flashing yellow light for when theres a countdown, and a perminant red light for once the pit becomes the instant kill. Again though, i have RR events in mind here, im not to sure on others set ups.

Thing is with the insta kill, it keeps the conservatives happy, as it evens up the fight, without detracting from the audience, which keeps the EO`s happy. Its a fair compromise.

      Re: Pit Rules

Just a thought as an anti pit device. Our pit is on dmx, if I install a wireless dmx unit in my machine I could potentially just bring the pit back up lol is that against any rules?

Garfie489... that is a great idea! I have never been to a RR event (Thought I have tried!) but I can see having that second phase of insta-kill cranking up the tension. It also gives the machines like Seraphim (Spelling Is wrong I think) to use their special abilities but means that its not all free reign for the flippers; everyone has to be careful!

            Re: Pit Rules

            Just a random aside here:

If the 10 sec rule is implemented (or it stays at 30 sec) I think when robots are in the pit and being counted out, it needs to be a count-UP rather than a count-down. I think it was the first fight of the FW champs this year, someone went down the pit and couldn't get out. As the 30 seconds drew to a close, the traditional count-down was done (3-2-1 etc) to indicate that the robot in the pit had been eliminated, but then the majority of people watching the fight assumed that the count-down was for the end of the battle, including the other two roboteers, who stopped fighting each other. The situation then had to be clarified and the battle re-started for the remainder of the time.

Long story short, regardless of whether the limit is 10 secs or 30 secs, I think it would be less confusing if the robots were counted out up the way (e.g. 1-10), otherwise it's too similar to the 3-2-1 used to call time on the battle.

Agreed, like the refbot of old.
