Weight- 100.3kg (WDOR)
Dimensions- H- 65cm, L- 65cm, W- 75cm
Speed- 11mph, 5.1 m/s
Shape- Somewhere between S6 Sabretooth and Atilla the Drum.
Locomotion- 2x Motorbike wheels with screws embedded. These are bigger diameter than the robot itself.
Ground Clearance- Massive
Turning Circle- 0
Armour- A cage made from a 3mm titanium mesh with moulded 8mm fibre glass armour over that.
Power- 2x S28-400€™s at 24V giving 9BHp. These are powered by some TMC batteries at 24V.
Removable link position- Inside the left wheel, as far in as possible whilst keeping it accessible.
Weapon- As before, the weapon is a 300mm 18kg vertical disc on an arm, which can swing right through the whole arc of the robot, and is capable of coming down with a thump. The blades are mounted diagonally, which means that they are capable of both flipping and ripping. The cage can also swing over the top, protecting the axle and wheels from the side that is unprotected by the disc. This means that other than the cage, nothing can be damaged apart from the disc. It should produce about 62Kj. It€™s powered by another S28-400 on 24V and has a spin-up time of 4.7 seconds.
Srimech- Invertible
Strengths- Powerful weaponry. Manouvreable, Strong
Weaknesses- Low traction, slow acceleration.
NAME; Octopush 2
WEIGHT; 150 Kilos
SHAPE; Chassis is like New Cruelty, basic shape is like Octopush from FMC.
SPEED; 18mph
TC;0mm
GC; about 3mm
ARMOUR; 7mm steel.
POWER; Similar to what New Cruelty has.
WEAPONS; A giant Axe device. Instead of an axe head, however, is a vertical spinning drum, spinning at about 1000rpm and coming down, on the hammer arm, at 60mph.
SRIMECH; The robot, if flipped over, can right itself using the arm. The top is curved so it can also roll over. It cannot be side or back stranded.
WHEELS; 8 inner (of course)
INSPIRATION: Tom Brisbourne gave Octopush to me. I made a few modifications.
STRENGTHS: Fairly strong.
WEAKNESSESS: Untested in the field of battle
OTHER NOTES: The drum is powered by its own motor which is attached to the underside of the axe arm (sort of like Sumpthing, only less far to go). 500 holes are also drilled into the robot to keep its weight down.
Weight- 100kg
Dimensions- H- 27cm W-75cm L-95cm
Speed- 26mph
Shape- Same as before (See profile pic of Windy-er Killer)
Ground Clearance- 0 all round thanks to hinged skirts rear and sides and the front scoop. 3mm under skirts
Turning Circle- 0
Armour- 6mm Titanium in 4 1.5mm layers hopefully weighing in a around 20kg. The skirts are made of 3mm titanium and are sprung.
Locomotion- 4 wet go-karting tyres with added traction belts.
Power- 4 LEM-170-D127€™s running at 48v providing 32BHp and running at just over 3200rpm powered by APC Back-Up batteries
Failsafe Position- On top of the robot under a 3mm sliding panel of titanium. It€™s about 5cm down, meaning most weapons shouldn€™t be able to hit it.
Paint Scheme- Navy Blue
Weapons- After learning with the previous 2 machines, we have decided to limit the number of interchangeable weapons to one of every type of weaponry which are: Pincers, Crushers, Axe, Vertical Spinners, Horizontal spinners, lifters, spikes and scoops. Some of these weapons are in combination, so these are the weapons.
Weapon 1- A front 5mm Lithium Carbide scoop on which all other weapons are mounted.
Weapon 2- Interchangeable weapon bay
Setup 1- A pair of horizontal Hardox crushing claws with a force of 5 tonnes.
Setup 2- A General Carnage style lifting claw. It crushes with a force of 2.5 tonnes.
Setup 3- A 7kg spinning axe-head with 2 blades on the end. It€™s powered by a 4:3 running Bosch at 3000rpm. Using the Kinetic Energy Generator Program, we€™ve worked out that it gives around 2Kj of energy.
Setup 4- A 10 inch horizontal carbon blade with 4 2-inch blades around the edge, with a 1/2-inch thickness. It weighs 8kg and delivers 10Kj of energy
Setup 5- A small Hardox spike that when at full speed, hit€™s with an 8 tonne force on the tip.
Srimech- Invertible
Strong Against- Non-Pushers, Flippers, Axes
Weak Against- Crushers, Discs on Arms
Robot most compared to- Storm 2 with Tornado€™s weapons
House robot most feared- Matilda
Strengths- Fast, Strong, Versatile
Weaknesses- Anyone stronger
Weight- 100.6kg
Dimensions- L-75cm W-54cm H- 36.5cm
Speed- 8.5mph/ 3.8 m/s. This however still gives excellent acceleration and the speed of the hits will help us do the Tornado thing
Shape- Normal Wedge, with rollbars on the back panel made from welded 1cm titanium.
Locomotion- 2 x 270mm diameter wheels with custom cut treads from an old adapted Go-Kart
Ground Clearance- 0 at front, 0 underneath hinged skirts at sides, 4mm underneath skirts and at back.
Turning Circle-0
Power- 2 x 36V Dustin Motors running off 3 x 24V TMC batteries weighing a total of 9kg for the batteries plus 2.6kg for the motors (Lightweight or what). It gives a total (Presuming efficiency is at maximum) of 4.42BHp. Not the best shover, but with the wedge shaped, the idea will be that before pushing you scoop the wheels off the ground.
Armour- 7mm Titanium/Vanadium Alloy all around weighing a total of 28.4940747kg for the whole body. The titanium bars on the back weigh a total of about 8.4kg.
Chassis- The chassis is made of 1cm aluminium bars, and weighs around 12kg.
Weapon 1- The weapon is a Helium powered flipper, with 2 x 3kg helium rams, capable of firing about 40 times within the course of a fight, and despite running off just 400psi, is easily capable of flipping 250kg. The rams in total, plus gas, and bottles etc. weighs around 16kg and the actual flipper is made out of 4mm Titanium/Vanadium alloy and is around two-thirds the width of the body and goes up the whole wedge. It weighs 5.022kg.
Weapon 2- the bottom of the front wedge is an entirely detachable wedge made of 1cm aluminium. It€™s been designed to be heavy enough to prevent the front wheelying when driving, and therefore means that it should be simple to flip any robots over. It covers about 10cm of the wedge, and is more than capable of resisting attacks. It€™s been designed well and uses the force of gravity and balance to keep it down, whilst only weighing 3.288384kg in total.
Removable Link Position- In a hole with a swinging flap about 10cm into the back panel, but you have to get past the rollbars to get to it.
Srimech- The flipper acts as a self-righter, and will always land on his wheels thanks to the rollbars on the back, once we self-right. The only time this won€™t work is if we can€™t get enough pressure in the ram to fire us over.
Strengths- Powerful, long-lasting weaponry. Manouvreable. Flipper should never fail to slide underneath.
Weaknesses- Not the best pusher in a straight shoving battle.
Smash-Up At The Bar - (replacing an unfinished Riptile 2 in my line-up)
Weight- 98.8kg (As ever, weight distribution available on request)
Dimensions- H- 35cm, L+W- 65cm
Speed- 9.6mph
Shape- Low Square Cuboid
Ground Clearance- 7mm chassis, dead zero everywhere else
Turning Circle- 0
Armour- 4mm RSP-707 TG top, 6mm Hardox on sides, 5mm polycarbonate base
Locomotion- 4 240mm foam filled wheels
Power- 4 x S28-150 Magmotors, producing 11.72BHp
Removable Link Position- Underneath rear skirt about 10cm back.
Weapon 2- On top of the machine is an 18kg spinning bar powered by a single LEM 130 off 48V. it spins at 2600rpm and produces a nasty 94Kj of energy, which we predict should be able to nicely cut through up to a cm of titanium. There are no 2x2kg hammer ends, angled down over the edge of the box, on the end, which should mean that we can now hit machines, even when they are lower than us. These means there are now no need for the skirts.
Srimech- Another incredible part of the machine. When we are flipped, the bar naturally slows down. When the speed reduces to a speed of around 60rpm, at which point such action will not damage the mechanism, 2 latches will automatically stop the blade from spinning. This will enable us to fire 2 low-pressure arms, each with around 14 fires before the pressure drops. This should be enough per fight
Strengths- Good all-round machine
Weaknesses- Can be beaten by a strong, fast, powerful flipper as well as a couple of single machines that shan€™t be named. Very little will beat this one as it is designed along the same line as Spinverter, in the sense that it€™s the best of everything in a small package.
Motivation: 4 x Omni wheels
Speed: 10MPH
Weight: 155kg
Height: 320mm
Length: 500mm
Width: 1500mm
Weapon: The weapon is the focus on the robots upgrade. The 45kg spinner bar/hoop combo is powered by two Honda CR125 Motorbike motors. The CR125 motor produces 42.3BHP @ 11500rpm, and only weights 14.8kg each. The motors have a pair of electric starts mounted on them. The weapon rotates at a crazy 4500rpm, via a variable belt drive that changes ratios from 10:1 through to the final 2.5:1 ratio. The variable belt drive works by the expansion of one pullie (Motor end) and the contraction of the other (Weapon end) This is done via torque springs mounted on the adjustable pullies and forces them to change size when the load changes. Commonly found on 6WD amphibious ATV€™s.
Drive: 4 x LEM 130€™s on 24v geared 10:1
Batteries:
Armour: Can you say 15mm Poly-Propylene?
Notes: The weapon is devastating. The power is phenomenal. The noise is incredible! The bot is not invertible€¦ Flip and gone€¦€¦ But you have got to get close to it to flip it!
I made a slight mistake in those stats. I forgot to mention the bar/hoop spinning blade is an under cutter weapon. It sits 15mm from the floor and is mounted under the motors on a rather large shaft.
Shape: Invertible wedge (a-la Voltarc) with rounded rear, and spheres on side to stop it resting there.
Speed: 18 MPH.
Weapon: Entire front plate is a rear hinged hydraulic lifter which can work either way up, running on 3000 PSI. No idea how much it can lift, but it should be in the tonnage area so I€™m safe on that score
Armour: 4 mm hardox all round. Sides front and rear are solid, but base and top plate have weight reducing holes everywhere but at the bottom area, so no spinner can catch hold of these. The chassis is 5 MM Ti. It has some 5 MM Ti skirts for the sides and rear, although these can be removed for spinners.
Motivation: Sort of six wheel drive, although it only runs on four at a time. The rear has two sets of two wheels, one above the other. These are powered by two Eteks on 48 volts. The wheels are indoor go-kart wheels. Nice and sturdy with plenty of grip.
Ground clearance: 1.5 CM€™s at sides, 2 CMs at rear, 0 MM at front.
Srimech: Invertible. Lifter can be used to free it from walls.
Strengths: Shouldn€™t go wrong because there€™s not much to go wrong.
Weaknesses: Pretty basic. Could struggle with more advanced machines.
So I couldnt think up anything more imaginative. So sue me
OK, chaps. Some of you already know the score. Im away to France tomorrow for me holidays and wont be back til the 22nd. Either then or the day after, the fifth PTT will finally commence. You unlucky people.
Until then, I have for you some stuff that may interest you
