Hello Hello, I€™m looking for a place called €œThe Pie Shop€ anyone seen it?

NSTT, Heat 16!
Round 1
Only 6 robots remain in the heats, with 15 packed up ready for round 4, 5 more will each take home a copy of the French translation of the world famous book €œHow to speak French€Â, yep, it€™s that pointless.
Melee 1
ForcePower Turbo (21) vs. Tails vs. El Persistance
From England, the 21st seed, ForcePower Turbo. This version of Andy€™s power horse has 64 horsepower and is the most powerful robot the entire tournament; however his wheels will be under a lot of pressure to put down all that power. In addition, it doesn€™t work upside down at all well due to the front wedge being fixed, but if it gets you on it€™s wedge, than you will feel the force.
In Far 8: (as ForcePower 3) beat El Persistance and Dodge-This before being lifted OOTA by Panic 3 GTI in the heat final.
From Sunny Scotland, Tails. Entered by that very nice Steven who€™s main aim in life is to destroy all coffee shops and replace them with Tea-Houses. Tails has a front flipper *points to flipper* and a rear angled spinning head spinner to damage other robots. The spinner is very damaging if it hits you, and the front flipper can flip 200 kg with ease, but with 2 wheels at the rear of the machine, and with a lot of weight over those two wheels, the front can lift up, and the ride-height around the sides and rear is slightly high.
In Far 8: Tails was only a wee baby then and didn€™t enter.
From England, El Persistance. Entered by Matt R, this 20 horsepower box with lifter hopes to slam, lift, and pit those other evil robots. However the skirts can harm it€™s freedom of movement around the arena and there is only 1 motor, so control can be a tad of a handful.
In Far 8: Lost to ForcePower 3 in round 1
Only Steve is in the control booths, as an unknown member of the general Woot Company is driving for ForcePower because Andy is away and Matt€™s friend Bob is driving for El Persistance.
The boxes have been locked, the melee arena is ready.

ForcePower Turbo has put down all the power in a controlled manner and accelerates to 15 mph without no problem, as the speed limiter kicks in. Tails also is away from the yellow square, rear spinner up to speed, as ForcePower meets El Persistance head on, as the sheer force from ForcePower€™s drive means that El Persistance is underneath ForcePower and is slammed straight into the rear wall. Tails slips in to the side of ForcePower and gives the invertible El Persistance a good kicking with the rear spinner, ripping off the skirt without any trouble what-so-ever, in revenge for Spin Dash. ForcePower is away to open the pit release button.
Tails gives El Persistance another taste of it€™s rear spinner, not allowing Matt€™s pusher to get away from it€™s rear end. ForcePower has opened the pit release and before you can say ForcePower, it has rammed straight into El Persistance, slamming El Persistance straight into the arena back-wall, as Tails reverses to get away, as Force Power scopes up El Persistance on it€™s front wedge and before you can blink, it is across the medium sized arena, and slams straight into the opposite arena wall. El Persistance exits the arena, and manages to give the arena camera a good hitting on the way past, as the metal camera looks like it€™s got hit by a random crane.
Cease
ForcePower Turbo (21) and Tails wins over El Persistance via TKO in 1:10.
Melee 2
Firestorm 5 (12) vs. Going Crunch vs. Hell€™s Teeth
From England, and 12th seed, Firestorm 5. Entered by Frank as his realie, Firestorm 5 is one amazing machine, front flipper, 2WD, and an active rear diff to give it excellent control, and a front which only the almighty Razor has gotten underneath. However it has been beaten by faster flippers and rammers in the past, so will it be able to get past this heat?
In Far 8: Beat Newton X, then Launch Pad, then Wedge Devolution, before being placed out of the arena by Mr Gravity.
From Birmingham, Going Crunch. A rare machine, it is a clusterbot, but with both parts different, 45% is a flipper, 55% is a spinner, and 100% is Chris€™s driving. Both parts are fast and the spinner is powerful, but both parts are light and so can be pushed around by rammers, could this be the problem for Going Crunch?
In Far 8: Didn€™t enter
From Oxford, Hell€™s Teeth. Entered by Dave Weston as his realie, this realie which made it€™s only television appearance in the extreme 2 new blood, so from what I can remember it€™s a 2 wheeled wedge, with a rear spinner at the rear and a front wedge at the front (wow, that was a shocker). However, the ground clearance is high and the spinner is a tad underpowered for life in the vapourbot world.
All 4 drivers are in the control booths, Frank, Chris 1, Chris 2 and Dave, as the countdown starts for my last ever heavyweight melee

Chaos and confusion in the arena, as all 4 robots are away from the multi coloured squares, as Firestorm 5 is looking for Hell€™s teeth, which Frank has decided is the weakest of the robots in the melee, as Going and Crunch are trying to get around to attack Firestorm, but Frank has driven the front end of Firestorm underneath the front wedge of Hell€™s Teeth, in a head-on battle of blood, as Frank presses the large button on Firestorm to drive it forward, as Going slams into the side, and makes a lovely scar in the armour, as Crunch gets underneath the two rear wheels, as both flippers fire, as Hell€™s Teeth lands on it€™s back, firestorm self-rights before Crunch can attack it once more.
Going slams into the side of Firestorm once more, as Frank gets underneath the 55 kg spinner and pushes it towards the arena wall, and puts it over the fence, but the damage can be seen, as Hell€™s Teeth tries to damage Firestorm 5 from the rear, are Crunch tries to beat the front flipper, but Frank dodges the attack, and slams into Hell€™s Teeth, as he pushes the realie towards the arena wall, before flipping it over the fence to join Going on the dark side of the fence.
Cease
Crunch slams into Firestorm 5 and flips it over the fence to reply for Going€™s wicket.
Cease once more
Going over the fence, Firestorm over the fence, Hell€™s teeth over the fence, Crunch is sitting happy in the arena, as Hell€™s Teeth is out.
Round 2 Draw
ForcePower Turbo (21) vs. Going Crunch
Firestorm 5 (12) vs. Tails
If I end up winning this Heat, I will laugh so hard.
HEAT P
ROUND 2
1) ForcePower Turbo (21) VS Going Crunch
Ive got a feeling Chris will be feeling the Force in this bout
2) Firestorm 5 (12) VS Tails
Two very similar machines here, but I have one big advantage - the spinny bar. IIRC, Firestorm is still aluminium, meaning a nice meal for Tailsy here. The main aim here is to get one good flip in to invert it and then try ripping it up with the blade while it rights. Basically, just batter it at any good oppertunity and pray.
...Crunch is only spinner, theres no flipper there unless you count the SRIMECH However it happened, GC keeps its record of surviving the first elimination
Tactics.
Split from the start and pincer. Forcepower can be flipped into the spinner or i can use my usual tactic of beeching the opponent on Crunch after a flip.
I dont know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everybody. (Bill Cosby)
These fights are brought to you with the background music of the Road to Rouen Promo, by Supergrass, one of the most underrated artists of all time.
NSTT, Heat 16, Round 2
4 robots remain for the last remaining spot in the semi finals, both seeds have made it into round 2, but who will be the golden 2 making it into the last heat final?
ForcePower Turbo (21) vs. Going Crunch
The 64 horsepower monster of a machine against those two little clusters, one with a spinner and the other with a flipper, all three machines are in the arena, for the 78th fight of NSTT, so without further delay

ForcePower Turbo accelerates away from the starting square, like it€™s powered by a formula 1 engine, but with a 640 horsepower per tonne, it is more powerful than the new Aston Martin, as Going Crunch spilt up, to move to pincer ForcePower Turbo. Andy turns, after opening the pit release, by ripping off the pit release button, as he spins around to slam into some other robots.
Chris and Chris 2 dodge the attacks well, by dodging to the left and to the right, as ForcePower Turbo come charging at then. Going (the flipper) aims for a side shot on ForcePower Turbo, as Crunch (the spinner) aims for another shot on the sides. ForcePower Turbo turns to meet the front end of Crunch; Andy puts on full power, as ForcePower Turbo accelerates straight into the front, where the spinner does no damage to the solid front, as Crunch is pushed backwards, straight into the arena wall. It bounces away and carries around running.
Going comes up behind ForcePower Turbo and gets the flipper underneath the rear, and flips ForcePower Turbo over, could this be the turning part of the battle? ForcePower Turbo turns and annoyed slams into Going at full power, knocking the little bugger into the air, and onto it€™s back. Going quickly self-rights as Crunch comes up behind ForcePower Turbo, but Andy slams in reverse and slams Crunch backwards, as the spinner hits into the rear plate, and making lovely sparks. Going makes his way towards ForcePower Turbo, being faster than it by a little amount, but it€™s acceleration is good as well, as Crunch is slammed into the arena wall for a 2nd time, as Going gets underneath the front end of ForcePower Turbo, as the wheels have been lifted off the ground.
Crunch comes into play now, as it manages to get ForcePower Turbo away from the arena wall, still on the front wedge, but as soon as it€™s free, the wheels have managed to contact with the wedge and ForcePower Turbo spins away, but Going flips it at the last moment, sending ForcePower Turbo upwards, as the initial power is wasted, as ForcePower Turbo comes down, still inverted, as Crunch slams straight into the side, spinner going strong, as ForcePower Turbo is lifted up once more, as the first sign of damage to the thick titanium is seen. 2 minutes are left on the clock, as ForcePower Turbo finally gets away from Going and drives over the arena spike.
The spike rights ForcePower Turbo as it goes wedge side down, and it turns to box-rush straight into the front end of Going. The impact sends the little 45 kg part of Going Crunch away, as ForcePower Turbo keeps on the doggy aggression and slams into it the front wall, with so much force that it goes flying over the arena wall and onto the camera tracks. Crunch slams into the rear end of ForcePower Turbo with the spinner and lifts up the rear end of ForcePower Turbo, put it is pushed backwards, as ForcePower Turbo slams Crunch into the rear wall, as it takes to the skies.
1 minute is remaining, as Crunch spins up once more and dodges the attack from ForcePower Turbo, which spins off into the wall, as Crunch turns and slams into the side once more, lifting up ForcePower Turbo a tad, but causing more damage. Andy turns ForcePower Turbo around on the spot and slams it straight into the front end of Crunch and carries it across the arena on the front wedge and straight into the arena wall, where a repeat of Going€™s demise is seen, as Crunch joins Going on the dark side of the wall.
Cease
ForcePower Turbo (21) wins over Going Crunch via TKO in 4:57.
Fight 2
Firestorm 5(12) vs. Tails
Both similar machines, both with forward hinged flippers, both with 2 wheels, but firestorm has the power in the flipper and Tails has it in it€™s spinner.
Both robots are in the arena, both control booths are locked

Both robots hurry out of the starting squares, like their tails are on fire, as the Scottish flag flying Tails gets it€™s evil rear spinner up to speed to attack the sides of Firestorm, but Frank, who has a cup of coffee in his control booth for that added extra boast, as Firestorm comes storming into play.
There is a frontal collision, as Firestorm, proving once more that it has the 2nd lowest wedge in UK robot wars, slides underneath Tail€™s own front, and flips it at once. The rear flywheel hits the ground first, as Tails spins on the spot, as it self-rights. Frank driving Firestorm rams into Tails once more and flips it once more. However this flip puts Tails in a good position to come around the side of Firestorm quickly and is it on it€™s wedge.
Tails flips Firestorm against the wall, as Frank presses the self-right button, Tails rams Firestorm around, so that Firestorm self-rights, so that it€™s wheels are facing into the middle of the arena. Tails comes in with a tail hit by the spinner and makes a lovely cut in the underbelly, as Firestorm is freed from the wall and at once Frank slams underneath the rear end of Tails and flips it against the wall, before going off to open the pit.
Once more Tails self-rights, and gets away from Firestorm, which has opened the pit. Frank and Steve circle each other, as the old-school firm, think about attacking, as Tails breaks free from the spin and slams into Firestorm. Frank dodges at the last moment, but Steve knowing Frank€™s dodging strategy uses an anti-dodge to get around the sides of Firestorm, as Firestorm is on the wedge of doom and fur, but it isn€™t up far enough to do a good flip.
The pit is looking very comfy, as Tails is moving at head-speed towards it, Frank is trying to get Firestorm off Tail€™s front wedge, but he is finding it hard to, as Tails flicks the 12th seed down the hole with a mole, Steve gets a huge smile across his face as he works out he has won.
It is by universal misunderstanding that all agree. For if, by ill luck, people understood each other, they would never agree. (Charles Baudelaire)
17 robots remain, 16 places are in round 4, 15 robots have claimed their right to those places, 2 robots are left, ForcePower Turbo, the 21st seed or will be the un-seeded Tails, who wins, the arena decides. Who will become the 80th robot to be knocked out of NSTT?
Heat 16 Final
ForcePower Turbo (21) vs. Tails
Today€™s unofficial soundtrack is the promo of Franz Ferdinand 2, but to keep several people happy called Scott, it€™s really Simon Fowler & Oscar Harrison€™s excellent live album, live on the riverboat.
In round 1, these two robots met, as Tails and ForcePower Turbo torn, flip, rammed, poor old El Persistance. In round 2, ForcePower Turbo had a hard time in getting rid of Going Crunch, after it ganged up and flipped ForcePower over. Tails on the other hand had a tough battle against 12th seeds and heat favourites, Firestorm 5, but after a quick dodge to the side, Tails pitted the 3 times Robot Wars bronze medallist. Now these two meet up for the 2nd time, they will meet once more in AI: NAD, as Tails takes on MiniForce in the Middleweight€™s Winner Bracket Semi Finals (good, got that plug out of the way)
Both robots are in the arena, for the final fight in the heats, Steve and Andy are in the control booths, the England St. George flag is behind Andy and his team mates, whereas the Scottish St. Andrews flag is behind Steve, who is wearing a red €˜n€™ Black striped shirt and a coat.
Neither has strangely posted tactics, how rare is that indeed?

For the third time, ForcePower accelerates from the starting square in an uniform way putting down more and more of it€™s available power to get up to speed. All this happens within a second, as punch it is at you. Tails meanwhile is waiting in the wings, waiting for ForcePower€™s attack. Andy turns around, keeping as much speed as he can going around the corner and bang.
Steve has no time to blink before Tails moves to dodge the attacking ram from ForcePower Turbo, with no brakes on board to slow ForcePower down enough to control the ram, ForcePower rams straight into the arena wall. Steve quickly dives around the side, as the sliding door slides open to open up the entire arena for robotic playtime. Tails is underneath ForcePower€™s sides and flips the uber rammer over onto it€™s top with a flip from that flipper.
Tails moves to get away and runs towards the pit release button. ForcePower Turbo turns to drive over to cut the gap between Tails and the pit release, but Andy is too late, as Tails has depressed the pit release button, as the pit has opened. ForcePower rams straight into the side of Tails, and pushes it towards the back wall. Tails is slammed into the back-wall sideways, as ForcePower jumps up onto the side of Tails, but reverses back down. Tails looks like to be damaged, that side slam has done no good to the electronics inside Tails€™ wing, as it turns around, ForcePower rams at it€™s sides once more, but Steve dodges, by spinning the left wheel around so fast that Tails spins around, as ForcePower is brushed by the rear disc from Mr. Tails, but no damage is done, except for lots of pretty sparks.
ForcePower Turbo turns around to face Tails, as Steve turns Tails around; the pit is behind Tails, but a good 20 metres away, as both robots. Andy presses the launch control on ForcePower Turbo, but the wheels lose traction, as they smoke as 64 horsepower is put though then, as the steel arena floor is becoming shiny in several places. Tails comes at ForcePower Turbo, but Andy regains control and manages to dodge Tails€™ tail attack, and turns to attack the sides of ForcePower Turbo, as Tails turns around, you can see the damage caused by that ram, as the entire left hand side is bent inwards, almost jamming the flipper closed. Andy has seen this and has changed tactics to flip Tails over where hopefully it can€™t self-right. Steve meanwhile, whistling to the latest Franz Ferdinand tune turns Tails around to meet the front end of ForcePower Turbo.
Half-way though the battle, as it could still go either way, the tension is so thick you can play a game of football on it. The clock stuck 15 hours ago, the man is wasting by the wall, ForcePower Turbo turns and unleashes all the power in a controlled launch control manner, as Tails once more dodges the attack, but still manages to turn the rear end around to cause some more damage to the side plate of ForcePower Turbo, as it has sliced though the titanium like cheese though a mouse€™s stomach. ForcePower Turbo turns and puts on power once more, but slams in reverse as Tails dodges, Andy slams the motors into full forward drive and slams into the side of Tails, as Steve€™s lovable creature is slammed into the side wall once more, this time on the other side. Tails bounces away from ForcePower Turbo.
Steve turns the screw and slams straight into the side of ForcePower Turbo with that rear disc, causing more damage to the armour of ForcePower Turbo, but still nothing has broken though the tank. ForcePower Turbo turns around to try to get to the side of Tails, where it can only push from, because Andy doesn€™t want to risk losing the front wedge to that weapon, which has claimed the life of many of a lost soul. ForcePower Turbo slams into the side of Tails, but Steve flicks Tail€™s rear around, and the rear disc has found it€™s target and rips a part of the front wedge away, as Tails is slammed straight into the side wall, with ForcePower Turbo going up onto the rear end, as the front wedge extender of Tails takes all the damage and when Steve reverses Tails, the wedge extender is bent upwards. Steve is heard to be saying €œbrilliant€ in the control booth microphone.
Andy spins ForcePower Turbo away and quickly attacks once more, slamming Tails into the end wall at full speed, the front wedge on both robots are now seriously damaged, but ForcePower Turbo can not do anything else to Tails, as it stays rooted to the ground, that low centre of gravity is helping, as Steve did some tuning to the insides and put the weapon motor slightly lower, for this version of Tails. ForcePower Turbo is looking damaged, as it once more slams into Tails, but Steve dodges, as ForcePower Turbo meets it€™s maker of the side fence, and hits back and jumps back sideways. Andy puts on full power, with less than a minute remaining, neither robot has taken the advantage, as Tails dodges ForcePower Turbo attack once more, but Andy slams into reverse at full revs, something inside didn€™t like that, as Tails slams into ForcePower Turbo from the front, as ForcePower Turbo tries to put down the power in forward, the wheels are spinning, trying to gain traction, as the pit is coming up, behind ForcePower Turbo, where so many of ForcePower Turbo€™s victims have ended up. Tails does a little flip, using the flipper, as ForcePower Turbo tumbles and falls 6 feet below. The flipper closes on tails, but it doesn€™t close properly.
Cease
On closer inspection, the sudden reversal of torque ripped a part of the gearing clean away from the drive system, preventing power being used, ForcePower Turbo was just too powerful for it€™s own good, as it still ended up 6 feet under.
And so, nobody though this would happen but Tails wins over ForcePower Turbo (21) via KO in 4:41, and so claims the 16th and final place in the semi finals.
Next post will have details of the other weight draw and the all important final 16 draw.
16 robots have made it to the final 16, fighting though the heats, 7 are seeds, 9 are not seeds, but who are the famous 16, how did they get here and who do they face to become the final 8?

Tactics, Predictions, how were the heats?
But First:
The NSTT Other Weight Qualifiers:
Featherweight Melees (One goes out)
Hells Angel vs. Conundrum vs. Ram-Raider
Storm Vortex vs. Kinetic Energy vs. OverDrive (1)
Lightweight Melee (One goes out)
Hell Hound vs. Typhoon Thunder vs. Toe Crusher vs. Little Big Bot vs. MiniForce
Middleweight Melee (One goes out)
Hell Fire (1) vs. Typhoon vs. Knee Breaker vs. Tom vs. The Steel Sandwich
Message to Tony:
Looking on €œCool Robots€Â, it says there is no such robot called Toe Crusher and Knee Breaker, can you find stats and a picture otherwise these two won€™t be allowed in the melee
Message to Chris M:
Ram-Raider is 6kg over the Featherweight Walker Limit (24 kg) whereas RR is 30 kg. Please can you swap robots with either another FW (CFL or Realie) or Ram-Raider will be kicked out.
Tanto 3 vs. Storm 2 - Seeing we still have no clue what Tanto 3s weapons are like, I refuse to call it.
Tsunami 2 (4) vs. Automatic Schmuck - If Tsunami can take a hit or three and get some flips in, it could be Germany 1 - Australia 0
Clawdius Decimus Murderous (1) vs. Son of Ripper 4 (2) I dont think the champ will lose its crown just yet.
Panic Attack vs. Drilla Killa 7 - Drilla Killa 7 to go forward
Take Me Out vs. Achilles (23) - Hopefully Achilles will go through here. Whoever entered Behemoth was robbed
Tails vs. Ringwraith - Tails.
And now tactics.
The Disc 5 vs. Hell Machine (17) - Dave might have the most powerful axe in the wars, but Ive got possibly the hardest to axe shape in existence Go for side attacks and knock it around til it dont move no more.
NSBFR-X (24) vs. Giga-Byte (15)
Lifter wedge I think, and re-enact Storm 2 vs Tough as Nails.
The heats have been well written, Dave, and hopefully the next fights will be as good!
Against Panic Attack, Drilla Killa 7 will just attack the sides and rear (dont want to risk the forks), try and get past the skirts and drill the underbelly, or at least shove it around.
Ringwraith will keep to Tails side and try to cause damage with the spinner. Hopefully the spinner wont get too much fur caught in it - if it does affect the spinner, Ill just ram and be aggressive, still keeping to the side.
Hells Angel vs. Conundrum vs. Ram-Raider
Storm Vortex vs. Kinetic Energy vs. OverDrive
Erm... I guess Ill go after Ram-Raider and try and pit it or push it into the spinners. :P Its an annihilator so you cant really give tactics - its gonna be chaos!
Hell Hound vs. Typhoon Thunder vs. Toe Crusher vs. Little Big Bot vs. MiniForce
Stay well clear of Hell Hound, that thing looks nasty! If Im going to concentrate on a certain bot it would be Typhoon Thunder, just try to keep the shell speed low and push it around.
Hell Fire vs. Typhoon vs. Knee Breaker vs. Tom vs. The Steel Sandwich
Its designed to go after the spinners, so Typhoon or Knee Breaker will do.
Enjoyed the heats Dave, keep up the good work! Ill post my semi final tactics and predictions when the other weight qualifiers have finished.
Andy, the Featherweights is like a heat, 2 round 1 melees, where one robot falls from each, then a knockout to get the champion, no 6-way annihilator in view.
