  • The Norman Sheppard Tribute Tournament

33 MPH for Love Bite isnt totally impossible, but itd probably have a slower acceleration and not as much torque.

I cant really damage him, so Ill push him over the spike to flip him over then try to pit him while hes self righting.

Spin and smash into it to do as much damage as possible, err... and try to avoid the weapon

Giga-Byte (15) vs. Archangel of the abyss

Perfect! Drive in, grab the claws around it (the armouring is designed to take the hardest of spinners) and dump it into the pit. This is the kind of robot GigaByte was designed to kill.

Ill be trying to get to Franks side, with a zero degree turning circle, i can at least keep my front to him if he tries anything, if my wedge gets under him, i can flip him then get the pincers at the rear into play. Ill be using the hazards at any oppertunity.

I said they will be up before the weekend ends

            quote:

            Fight 1

Giga-Byte (15) vs. Archangel of the abyss

In round 1, Giga-Byte had a bye, whereas Archangel of the abyss had to fight past 13 Black. I think this is the first time these two robots have met.

Both robots are in the starting squares

The smell in the afternoon is nice, as Giga-Byte sets off with it€™s claws open. Archangel of the abyss has started to spin both of it€™s spinners up to speed, as Giga-Byte turns around to give chase to Archangel of the abyss, as Alex is trying to get away enough to get the bottom flywheel up to speed. Giga-Byte rams straight into Archangel of the abyss, and co2 is released from the claws, as the flywheel is stopped suddenly.

Andy is not wasting time; he has smelt the coffee being made by the machine, as he drives Giga-Byte, with the storm 2 drive, at the pit release button. Alex can not do anything, as the legs are not getting any traction, and both spinners have been clamped by the claws, as the pit opens. This is the style of attack, which made the FRW Byte the series 7 champion, doggy attacking, as Archangel of the abyss is taken over towards the pit edge, as Andy lines up with a lovely attack, the weight of Archangel of the abyss pulls itself down, as Andy releases the jaws.

Smoke is rising from the pit, as Giga-Byte spins; a strange piece of armour comes off the inside of the jaws, the only damage from Archangel of the abyss.

            Cease

Giga-Byte (15) wins over Archangel of the abyss via TKO in 0:24, in the most controlled fight since Behemoth€™s 2nd round attack.

            Fight 2

The Crashing Bore (1 vs. Love Bite V2.0

I€™m older than I used to be; now it€™s time to party in the first Frank vs. Chris Cooper battle, ever.

Both robots are in the arena, both drivers are in the control pods.

Blink and die, is what Love Bite V2.0 has done, as it has come away from the starting square with no wheel spin, as The Crashing Bore gives chase, but Chris has the speed, as he turns around to drive back towards The Crashing Bore, as Frank dodges the attack with expert driving, as Love Bite V2.0 turns around, the grip holding out from the speedy machine. Chris Cooper is one of the kings of driving around, and with a lovely chassis from Love Bite V2.0, it can handle the speed. The Crashing Bore on the other hand, is the same, as Frank makes another correction, as Love Bite V2.0 tries to aim for the side of The Crashing Bore.

Frank turns The Crashing Bore around quickly, forcing Love Bite V2.0 to go around again, but still Chris isn€™t going near The Crashing Bore to draw first blood, as it finally breaks free from the dance to slam into the sides. The front wedge rides the skirts, as it hits onto the side armour, as Love Bite V2.0 starts to push The Crashing Bore sideways, but Frank puts on full power and drives away from Love Bite V2.0, as he turns to get the front wedge underneath the side of Love Bite V2.0, and quick as hell, the trap fires, locking Love Bite V2.0 in tight with the trap.

Frank knows that he has 30 seconds to make his move, as he drives towards the arena pit release button, opening up the corner pit, where so many dreams have been broken. Chris is trying to get away, but with only half of his wheels on the ground, he is going nowhere very fast, except going sideways. Frank thinks, as the clock goes boom, as Love Bite V2.0 is taken over towards the arena spike. The arena spike fires, sending Love Bite V2.0 onto it€™s back. Chris fires the firestorm style flipper to self-right in a flash of colour, as The Crashing Bore rams into Love Bite V2.0, as it self-rights, getting a lovely shot underneath Love Bite V2.0, as Frank is looking at the pit.

The ground between Love Bite V2.0 and pit is covered very quickly, as the front wedge of The Crashing Bore has lined up with the pit edge, and the guillotine fires, pushing Love Bite V2.0 off in a spin, down 6 feet, into the pit, where all the ghosts live, playing old songs.

            Cease

The Crashing Bore wins over Love Bite V2.0 via TKO in 3:49. Frank goes off to have a cup of coffee, as The Crashing Bore gets ready for the heat final. An all-seeded heat final, the first since Heat E, and 2nd in the contest. How rare.

Get under it, use the trap to stop it slipping away and pit it. 3500 Kgs of force at the ram will probably translate to much less force at the tips meaning he cant damage me.

                  Giga-Byte (15) vs. The Crashing Bore (1

Very tough... horizontal clamper against vertical clamper. Ill try and use the same tactics again here; drive in, get a good hold and drag/push it around hopefully down the pit. Frank may well be right about the lack of damage at the tip of the claws, but thats not what it is designed to do in the first place.

Just for the record, the drill is gonna do didly squat and the gillotine very little to Gigas armouring too.

                      Heat N final

                      The Crashing Bore (1 vs. Giga-Byte (15)

The 2nd all seeded fight so far this season, proves that most of the seeds have fallen down before the heat final, but how did the 2 wonder seeds get to the heat N final?

In round 1, The Crashing Bore took damage from 13 Black, but held it tight when Archangel of the abyss took of the wheel for the knockout. In round 2, it managed to survive against Love Bite 2, when it clamped, and straight to the pit. On the other hand, Giga-Byte had an easy round 1, where it claimed a bye, before pitting Archangel of the abyss within 30 seconds, after ram, clamp, and pit.

Who will win in a battle of the pit?

Let€™s find out, as both Andy and Frank are in the control booths, with a mug of fresh coffee for the winner and a cup of mud for the loser.

                      3
                      2
                      1

In this close battle, Giga-Byte gets the head start from the starting square, as the 18 horsepower is placed down onto the wheels well, as Andy€™s machine pulls away up to it€™s top speed of 20 mph. The Crashing Bore has wheeled itself forward to get away from the starting block, as Giga-Byte has opened the pit release button to open the pit. One of these two robots are going to end up 6 feet under, but the question is which one?

The Crashing Bore has turned to face the onslaught from Giga-Byte, as Andy is being careful to avoid the front wedge of The Crashing Bore, as Frank is waiting for Andy to make that mistake. Giga-Byte using it€™s extra speed tries to break around the rear end of The Crashing Bore, to attack those rear spikes. Frank isn€™t going to let Andy get away so easily, as he turns to dodge the attack. Giga-Byte slams into the side, and fires the claws, but they close on an empty catch. Andy slams in reverse and drives away quickly.

Giga-Byte starts to circle The Crashing Bore, as Frank has driven out of the edge and into the centre of the arena, to keep spinning around to defend itself against Giga-Byte, which is trying to dodge and double dodge, avoiding the arena spike, as Andy knows if he gets lifted up, it€™s all over. The Crashing Bore starts to drive towards Giga-Byte, as Andy dodges the attack from The Crashing Bore. Frank tries to catch up with Giga-Byte, but the speed difference is too much for the old war-horse, the concept unchanged from before the dawn of time, as we all know Frank is Jesus in disguise. Giga-Byte turns and runs at The Crashing Bore, as Frank turns The Crashing Bore to drive towards Giga-Byte.

Andy breaks one side and goes into a crab movement sideways, as The Crashing Bore does the same to keep in contest with Giga-Byte, as both robots finally meet proper contact, and first blood is drawn, as The Crashing Bore€™s front wedge is underneath the right hand claw, lifting up the front right hand wheel. Andy fires the claws, and comes away from The Crashing Bore, as Frank fires the guillotine and misses the target, as Giga-Byte aims for the side and clamps down, onto the front corner piece of the wedge, with not the world€™s best grip, as the right hand side claw comes away from the wedge and Giga-Byte losses grip and comes away. Andy wastes no time and runs away from The Crashing Bore, as Frank tries to get underneath Giga-Byte with it€™s front wedge.

Giga-Byte turns around and comes back towards The Crashing Bore, as Frank turns The Crashing Bore around to defend himself against the oncoming Giga-Byte. Andy dodges The Crashing Bore, as the arena spike fires, lifting Giga-Byte into the air; Andy can not believe his luck, as Giga-Byte lands. The Crashing Bore comes forward, and fires the guillotine, but Giga-Byte has reversed at full power away from The Crashing Bore, as it slams into the arena wall. Frank is annoyed at himself for not taking advantage of Giga-Byte€™s flip by the tri-spike system; the patent is pending in 15 countries. Ref has started to wonder when the main action will start and starts to roll forward to stop the wheels jamming up.

The Crashing Bore drives forward at full power towards Giga-Byte, as Andy puts on full power and gets away from The Crashing Bore for the time being, to allow himself time to reline an attack. The top 2 seeds from last season start to dance again, as Giga-Byte is on the inside, and The Crashing Bore is on the outside, but something looks like to be wrong on Giga-Byte, but suddenly it€™s okay, as Giga-Byte starts to drive towards The Crashing Bore. Frank dodges, but doesn€™t look where he is dodging, as Giga-Byte is coming closer by the second, and the arena spike fires for a 2nd time this fight, as The Crashing Bore is on it€™s side, as Giga-Byte, wasting no time, slams into The Crashing Bore, as it self-rights, straight into Giga-Byte€™s evil claws.

Giga-Byte puts on full power and quickly drives The Crashing Bore towards the open pit, as Ref starts to count down the 10 seconds towards the end of the battle. The Crashing Bore€™s rear wheels are spinning, trying to put down the power to stop Giga-Byte€™s march to victory, but it isn€™t working, as Giga-Byte opens up it€™s claws over the pit, and The Crashing Bore drops down 6 feet, into the carpeted pit with a large sponge at the bottom.

The smoke has started to rise from the pit, as Giga-Byte starts to spin around in celebration, as Shovearound 2 comes blown into the arena by Mr friendly air cannon and rams straight into Giga-Byte, as Andy clamps down and pits the 3rd robot in this melee, and claims the €œI Pit Shovearound 2€ Medal for himself.

                      Cease

ffffff>Giga-Byte claims the 14th spot in the semi finals, via TKO over The Crashing Bore in 4:58. Andy gets the limited edition mug of coffee and Frank gets the smashed tea-pot after The Crashing Bore destroyed it

Flipping Hell (10) vs. GeForce vs. Ze Newie

I think I out torque both these robots, which should go in my favour. Ill spend the first minute or so just using the wedge to ram the other two around. Then Ill start using the flipper hopefully meaning I have more gas to last out the fight and send them flying.

The main tactic will be to flip Flipping Hell over. I think Im right in saying that its flipper does not work because CO2 doesnt go 1000psi. Correct me if Im wrong.
