Velociraptors Fanfic Tournament - Series 6!

i will enter the anhiolater with panic 3 gti 2 and forklifts revenge who i would lift to replace sb iv with as it is rushed and not good thanks in advanced

    Name-Forklift€™s revenge
SHAPE- Low box with rear anti self flipping wedge
    COLOUR- Yellowy orange
    WEIGHT- 100kg
    SPEED- 18mph
    TURNING CIRCLE- 0m
GROUND CLEARANCE- 0mm at front due to flipper, 0mm at sides due to skirts 7mm with out, 0mm at rear due to wedge. The skirts are held down by torsion springs
    ARMOUR- 3mm hardox
WHEELS- has 6 inner storm 2 style wheels
    POWER- 2 x S28 Magmotors on 24v.
WEAPONS- it now uses a flipping arm that works much like the matadors or Toro€™s the flipper is powered by co2 on a 120mm pneumatic ram, working at 145psi, the flipper front is pretty unique as its front is like that of a fork lift (it has 2 flat bits of metal) this is welded onto the flipper, the arm can toss robots very high and if possible out of the arena. The prongs of the forklift weapon are used to get under the corners or gaps of skirts
SRIMECH- the flipper self rights the robot but because of the rear wedge thing it self rights like firestorm does i.e. the front wheels will go down first
NOTES- this is a modified version of my robot from the panic attack forum.
    STRENGTHS- Power full weapon
    WEAKNESSES- limited co2

i will also enter happy birthday party pooper for the chalange belt

Velociraptors Fanfic Tournament - Series 6!

Rich, can I enter a robot for the challenge belt, not in for the main heavyweight contest:

            Ground Control to Major Tom:
            Dave€™s Robots for VFT 6

            Unless otherwise stated -
We are Team Hampshire Hogs in a New Age.
The driver is Emma, on weapons is Dave and the on-team engineer is Steve

            Football -
            4-Wheel-Steering

Shape - Front scoop, designed to take spinners, curved sides to act like a roll-cage.
Chassis - Simple box chassis, allowing the wheels full movement with protection. Should provide protection, with the side plates at 2mm Landrover grade Aluminium. Very strong, but light, and because there is a lot of Landrover around, it is very easy to come by. The top armour is the same 2mm, but this time it can be removed for access to mend the robot. The base plate is the same, so is the rear and front wedge. Over the wheels on the top is another layer of 2mm aluminium.
Weapon - Electric lifting arm to self-right, designed to lift the robot over only. This is the self-righter.
Motor - B42-500 MagMotor at 60 volts, run straight into a high-low transfer box. This will be able to get 2 shafts come out of the box, 1 going to the front, and 1 going to the rear. The shafts lock into non-locking diffs. Shafts come from these and connect via a joint (allowing full movements).
Locking System - All 4 drive shafts have a locking feature, which locks the wheel. This allows the robot to turn on the spot and get out of very sticky areas.
Steering - All 4 wheels can move 35 degree either way, all impendent. This once more adds to the Stick it where you want feature of 4WS. The steering is all powered by low pressure hydraulics.
Processor - An on-board processor controls all the steering and locking. The speed is 100 time per second, allowing for near instant sticking where it€™s got to go. The controller on the control is a wheel to steer and a level to add power. Another button allows reverse to be selected, where the gearbox connected to the motor before the transfer box (simple forward/reverse method) can spin the output shafts to make the robot go in reverse.
            Wheels - 4 go-kart solid tyres.
Ground Clearance - Front end because of the scoop it€™s 1mm, otherwise it€™s 1cm for turning.
            Mass - 100 kg
Velocity and Acceleration - 20 ms-1, getting to it within 2 metres on high-range. 10 ms-1, getting to it within 2 metres on low-range.
            Strengths - Control, turning, speed.
Weaknesses - no damaging weapons, high ground clearance.

            Main Contest -

            1 - Real robot - Disconstructor (2003 version), website - http://www.Disconstructor.comwww.Disconstructor.com
            2 - Flipping Mad TU
            3 - Black Chalkie Beard
            4 - Wedgie 5
            5 - Push-Ish
            6 - NSA
            7 - Cuffy
            8 - Seggy the Third

            ----------------------------

            Flipping Mad TU (The Unknown)

Robot Concept - Box, flipper, does it need to be explained in simpler details?
            Mass - 99 kg
Weapons - The weapon has been updated from the older days, this version has the flipping arm, but this time it is spilt in two. The rear half for self-righting and the front half for flipping. The self-righting flipper is explain in a later section. The main weapon is powered from 4 kg of co2, and 2, 80mm rams. There is a 3.5 litre buffer tank, and the co2 is pressured at around 500 psi, depending on air temperature. The weapon has a flipper extension plate, that runs parallel to the ground; there is a titanium strip at the bottom to aid getting underneath robots.
The second weapon is used on floors, 4 NSA-Vacuums which suck the robot to the ground.
Can it self-right - The rear Srimech flipper self-rights the robot over the back end. The flipper is powered with it€™s own 1.1 kg bottle and is low pressure, running at 125 psi. This is enough to right the robot. The arm itself has a fixed ski fitted to aid self-righting, BUT IT CAN SELF-RIGHT WITHOUT THE SKI.
            Velocity - 3 Ms-1
Acceleration - 6 Ms-2 (turns and bang, up to speed at once)
Turning Circle - 0, skid steer
Ground clearance - At rear, it€™s a massive 1 cm, the sides are 5mm, the front is hopefully something like 1*10-5 metres.
Skirts - The skirts can be fitted, and are simple skirts to stop low spinners.
Wheel Type - 4 wheel drive, light weight go-kart wheels.
Motors - 2 €œWould-Field€ Motors from DC Motors Inc. Rated at 24 horsepower, giving ~ 1.5 horsepower from each. This robot isn€™t designed to be a pusher.
Drive Chain - Rear-drive live axle, with a reduction of 17.5:1 in a double reduction gearbox. Front limiting-slip axle with a reduction of 17.5:1 in a double reduction gearbox enclosed within the shafts. The wheels themselves are within a frame designed to restand direct hits.
Body Shape - Box, curved rear, wedged front.
Armour - 2 panels of 2mm RSP-707 TG, with a 5mm layer of Dyneema UD-HB sandwiched between the panels. The sides have redundant side pieces to stop spinners removing the entire panel, which is bolted at the ends and twice along the sides. Flipper arm is steel €œI€ bars. The top armour is the same, but with 10mm of Dyneema UD-HB, to stop axes.
            Colour - Blue
Summary - Flipping Mad is back, with a minor update.

Strengths - Flipper, Getting to Speed
Weaknesses - Alex€™s annoying hit and run tactics.
            ----------------------------------

            Black Chalkie Beard

Part names - Part 1 will be known as Black, part 2 will be known as Beard
Type - 2-way clusterbot, both parts are the same except for the colour and the linking method.

Team - Emma is the driver of part 1, Dave is the driver of part 2, and Steve is the weapons on part 1, and John the 4th member is on the weapons on part 2.

Mass - 100 kg. Black is 49.3 kg, and Beard is 49.7 kg.
Dimensions - Height - The chassis is 7 Cms high, the wheels are another half CM to each end to make this an 8cm robot. Length - 40 Cms, width - 30 Cms
Wheels - It uses 4, 80mm diameter sure grip breeze wheels, used on skateboards. There are holes in the top and bottom armour of area 0.0112 cm2; this allows the wheels to turn with ease, and to reduce the chance of an axe/crusher or forks getting between the wheel and the chassis. We replace the wheels after every fight, when we are checking the insides for wear and tear. Weight on wheels - 0.91 kg
Batteries - 20 BMC-3 NiMh 900 mAh batteries. Each is at 3.6 volts, so all together it gives 72 volts. However the motors are running at 48 volts, so we have some battery spare for those long fights. Total weight = 2.66 kg.
Motors - 4 Astro-Flight Cobalt 60 Robot Planetary Motor each running at 48 volts, and each giving a Maximum Continuous Power of 1200 watts, which in total is 4800 watts, in old terms, a pretty cool 6.4 horsepower. Which in my view is enough for a robot like this. These motors have a diameter of ~ 5.3 cm. Total weight ~ 4.1 Kg
Gearing - As well as the motors gearing, we are using a simple 2:1 shaft to reduce the speed of the motor to a good level. Total weight spend on gearing ~ 2 kg
Weapon - The only weapon is a set of front swords, which are 2mm thick at the rear and are a tad under 0.5mm at the tip. These swords are lifted and dropped by the use of 4 rodded linear actuators. The arm itself can change in length for the battle; can be 10 cm to 50 cm. The arm can be lifted and dropped with ease, so it doesnt matter if Black Beard gets flipped. The good thing about this weapon is that, you can€™t flip the robot by them. If a wedge gets underneath and flips the swords, the swords will lift and fire. Total weight on weapon ~ 6.75 kg. The cool thing about these swords is that as they lay flat or at an angle, depending on which way the robot is facing, they can flip full bodied spinners because of the lack of a wedge. The swords can lift 250 kg up to 60 degree. Therefore we can self-flip the robots over.
Armour/Chassis - Hardox 600. 4mm on top and bottom to stop axes and crushers. The sides of the chassis is 15mm. Total weight spend on armour, taking density to be 8000 kgm-3. There is 5 kg of steel bars used to strengthen up the chassis. The front and bottom plates can be removed for ease of repairs. The top and bottom sit into a groove in the robot, so that they can not be ripped away by a well aimed spinner. The chassis is the side armour, so it cant be ripped away when hit by a spinner. The front armour and rear armour are 20mm Hardox 600. Total weight on armour -
            Top & Bottom - 6.96 kg
            Sides - 6.72 kg
            Back & Front - 6.72 kg
            Strength Bars - 5 kg
Speed Controllers - This robot uses a Victor 885 speed controller. We use the power at 30 volts. A mixer is used with a gyro to help with the control. Therefore in theory, Black Beard can turn on the spot and we can stick it where we wish to. Total weight on speed controllers€™ etc ~ 1 kg
Colour - Beard is lightly sprayed blue, total weight on paint = 0.42 kg. Black is painted black.
Skirts - 2mm titanium skirts run the length of the sides, designed to fold over when invertible. The hinge is mounted in the dead centre line of the side, and the skirts are a bit longer than the height (4.5 cm) to allow then to rest at an angle. The convex sides should prevent the skirts from resting flat. Total weight = 1.26 kg.
Power-link - A panel in the top and the bottom slides across, opening up a secure location, where you have to turn a pole 90 degree to access the link, by pulling it out sideways. This method is the best for robots, as it can be accessed from the top or bottom. As a power-link doesn€™t come into the weight, no weight is spend. The saved weight goes onto the arm.
Shape - Invertible box, slightly convex sides, and rear to stop landing onto sides/rear.
Velocity - Doing a quick calculation using the linear speed of the wheels give the top speed to be around 12 mph. This is assuming that the coefficient of friction of the arena floor is 1. The acceleration due to friction is pretty fast, compared to most vapourbots. It gets from 0 to 12 mph in a tad under 1.5 metres.
Suspension - To stop being damaged when hit by a spinner or rammer, everything is designed to move in it€™s own free will. The wires are able to do this. In addition, there is an inner sub-frame of the chassis which is built for strength. Total weight spend - 5 kg.
Ground Clearance - 5mm all over without skirts. At the front the swords make it zero, but no scoop to save weight. The swords are mounted at the bottom of the robot, but when flipped the swords rest at an angle to act more like a wedge. Side skirts reduce the risk of flipping, but nothing will stop those powerful flippers.
Turning Circle - Something really low, like 0.1 μM. As this is a tiny displacement, we shall assume it€™s zero.
Linking Method - Due to the new NBSFL rules about clusterbot, Black has a loop and Beard has the actual method, which is like Gemini (a sprung loaded gate). Total weight on both robots - 1 kg
Summary - Thanks for Steve for the two parts names. Black Chalkie Beard is a 2 way clusterbot, which is low to the ground, and tough armour. Enjoy.
Strength - The centre of mass of the robot is in the centre of the robot, meaning perfect handing. Armour, clusterbot, hard to get underneath and flip.
Weaknesses - The torque disadvantage from the small wheels, meaning it€™s going to be out-pushed. Non damaging weapon. Clusterbot rules. Swords aren€™t going to get robots out of the arena.

            --------------------------

            Wedgie 5

            Mass - 100 kg
Armour/chassis - The main different with this version is that the chassis is no longer Hardox, but now it is a 6mm Titanium monocoque, so crusher resistance. The chassis is enforced with 18mm steel triangles giving a very tough little robot. Other the titanium is a thin layer of Dyneema UD-HB (2mm) with a 1mm layer of polycarbonate on top of that. Carbon tipped spinners, eat your way though that lot .
Weapon 1 - A backward hinged LP flipper running at 145 psi (10 bars) using an 80mm ram giving about 40 big flips per fight, then it will run on for a long time for self-righting reasons. There is a 3L buffer tank, so it can fire once or twice without the buffer being needed to be fast fed (it will work faster!). These buffer tanks are right at the front of the wedge to stop the front lifting when moving. The flipper is hinged right at the top of the wedge to self-right the robot. At the front of the wedge, the flipper plate widens and runs along the ground, this piece is 2mm steel and is pointed at the front, and it is designed to get underneath full bodied spinners and skirts. However this may get damaged during the fight. The flipper is made from 18mm steel bar, reinforced with triangles and covered in a 4mm sheet of Aluminium on the top only. The steel is welded together and the cover is bolted onto the steel frame. The hinges are underneath the flipper and to stop pesky axes, the protection is a lump of 5mm steel covering the heavy duty hinge. The ram is covered by a secured net which rises with the flipper. This net can be removed if the rules state that it€™s illegal. There is a flipper extension plate, now shorten than the original, but still is a good 7 CM away from the robot. This is designed to flip 200 kg without bending.
Weapon two - A 3mm Hardox front scoop, this has 2 purposes, to hold the front down and to protect the buffer tanks from axes and spinners.
Shape - Low Wedge, rounded back to self-right the robot. Rollover bars on the sides to stop it landing on its side.
Power-link position - I though I better put this in, the power-link is underneath a 5mm titanium door on the wedge located left to the flipper.
Wheel type - 2-wheel drive, using C40-500 MagMotor, on 36 volts with a 17.8:1 double stage, gearing system, the wheels are 200mm and made out of Volcalone rubber, giving grip. There is a small ball bearing at the front, which makes the front move.
Batteries - The robot is run by 4 packs of 3000mAh NiCDs @ 36 volts. This gives 12 Amps to get though the full 7 minutes of a fight.
Safety - The Co2 tank is located behind the wheels, and is easy to reach, the dump value is located near the bottom and the co2 is dumped out of the back at an angle which will not do any damage. The value is heavy duty and to reach it, you need to remove the power link to put your arm to turn it. On the other hand the value will automatic come if the pressure inside the tank gets above 1000 psi. There are failsafe lights located on the side of the machine in view of everyone, which tell the ground staff if the robot is active (all 5 lights are on). Inside the robot there is a plug and computer software tells the engineer if there is something wrong with the electrics.
Ground Clearance- At front zero, its 1 cm at the rear, and 5mm at the sides to allow for fast turning and with this in mind€¦
Turning Circle - Because of the ground clearance at the back, and the 2 wheel drive chassis this robot can turn on the spot. This could be a weapon against pushers, once spinning the front will lift because of the gyroscopic forces and it will become a full bodied spinner.
Speed - This version is slow compared to the 3rd version, having a maximum velocity of 9 ms-1 (~20 mph), but the cool thing is that the robot can accelerate at just under 1 g (9.6 ms-2, where g is 9.81 ms-2). So it turns and when Emma puts on the power it gets up to speed really quickly.
Colour - It is blue, the paint is about 2mm thick and has thin threads in the paint to stop some spinners ripping the pieces off.
Summary - Thanks to Aaron for the flipper and drive set-up (it hasn€™t changed from version 3). This is the 4th version of Wedgie, but I though I call it version 5. Tech sheet for Dyneema UD-HB http://www.dsm.com/en_US/html/hpf/dozens_of_reasons.htmhttp://www.dsm.com/en_US/html/hpf/dozens_of_reasons.htm

            ------------------------------

            Push-Ish

Mass - 100.2 kg at the end of the fight, 103.2 Kg at the start of the fight (3 kg worth of petrol on board)
Weapons - This version has a little drum fitted, the motor is a simple 9.6 volt drill motor, with it€™s own battery supply, of 3000mAh NiCad€™s, resulting in a 3amp battery, giving enough power for the fight. The drum weighs 1.3 kg, and is designed for damage with it€™s teeth. No more losing Judge€™s Decisions on Damage Caused because of the flail.
Can it self-right: The robot is invertible, it can not land on it€™s rear, if it does the mass of the engine will tip it back onto the wheels.
Speed ~ Due to the gearing in first gear the speed is 6 mph, in second gear the speed is 14 mph, but it gets there within half a metre of moving and in third gear it is a cool 40 mph, but we only take it up to a maximum of about 20 mph in third gear if it changes. It does 14 mph in reverse . Acceleration in second gear is pretty good, getting to its speed within 2 metres of movement.
Turning - To turn this wedge, a brake is applied to one of the drive axles, as they share a common axle, spilt with a limited slip differential. This allows a turning circle of 29mm, which isn€™t the end of the world, as we can turn quickly. This system is based on a 360 degree 2-wheeled off-road thing.
Ground clearance - At the front it is dead zero, the sides and rear it ranges from 1mm to 2 cm. However there is now skirts, which are used for fights with flippers. The side skirts are normal skirts which when invertible are useless, and so fall away into the side armour. The rear skirt lifts when going up ramps, allowing for the wheels to stay on the ground
Wheel Type - 4 wheel drive, these wheels are go-kart wheels, solid. There are 2 wheels on each half of the axle, cylinder length 97 mm, connected together with a 3mm plate, giving 197mm. These give excellent traction on all surfaces. Basically a 2 wheel drive machine, but with twin wheels on either side of the axle.
Drive Motors - The motor is a simple 7 kg super-charged custom-built rotary engine (160cc). The engine has 3 gears and changes though them automatically, the first gear is a large ratio (30:1) this is used to push things with and not in the main driving. The second gear is the starting off gear and gets to the top speed quickly because of the 17.2:1 gear ratio. The top gear is used when cruising; it has little pushing ability as the ratio is something like 2:1. The gearbox is connected directly to the rotor shaft, and the gearbox is connected direct to a limited slip differential to give the power to both wheels. The engine is at the front to stop wheelies, the fuel tanks are in an easy to reach place, on the front, the engine is mounted sideways so it doesnt matter which was the robot is facing. To stop the fuel draining out, the racing style fuel-tanks are designed to be tipped at all angles. The super charger feeding fuel and air into the single cylinder with the rotor, there is a 1 horsepower starter motor to starts the engine up if it stops, inside the engine is 2 spark plugs. To reverse, the gearbox has a reserve gear which turns eventually (0.4 seconds) turns the drive shaft in reverse with a ratio of 5:1. The exhaust system has been redesigned to give the extra power wanted, it€™s a performance exhaust system, which controls the air flow out.
The main drive chain is from a 160cc go-kart, being run in this season, where I work at weekends. (Marshal). The shafts have been shorten to prevent them being bent. Other than that, the engine is enclosed into a cylinder to protect it from the combustions in that third. The length of the main engine without gearbox is 334 mm; the diameter of the cylinder is 312 mm. The main rotor shaft outtake has a diameter of 60mm. The gearbox is a box, and is the standard gearbox, length 200mm, width and height both 100 mm. The main shaft from the gearbox is the same diameter as the main rotor shaft, and plugs into the differential, with a length of 34 mm. The engine runs along the bottom of the robot. The engine is mounted onto a special sprung cage to absorb most of the turning force. The entire drive chain can safety move back and forward 60mm. In this version, the cage has been made stronger, allowing for better €œrotor washers€ within the rotor. The supercharger has changed, from a plain simple off-the-shelf to an off-the-shelf performance supercharger to stick the fuel and air mixture in very quickly. The power now generated from the engine at it€™s maximum is 120 N/M of torque (in first gear) and 65 horsepower. Nothing currently can match the torque, but it puts Push-Ish into the league of horsepower.
Fuel - The robot carries 3 kg of fuel, which will last about 15 minutes of fighting, once the fuel has run out, we cam use the starter motor to get the power down.
Body Shape: Invertible wedge with a scoped rear.
Armour - Front wedge is solid 4mm Hardox, everywhere else is 8mm RSP-707 TG. On the sides are redundant attachments to protect the wheels to protect them from the ever-growing number of spinners. These attachments are designed to be ripped off without damaging the drive chain. Around the corners, where the armour is bolted to the steel chassis, these are covered in a 1mm layer of aluminium, brushed, and held on by screws. This will stop spinners ripping off the entire panel. Using the theory that however good the armour plate is, it€™s the bolts that are the weakness.
Colour: The robot is lightly sprayed blue.
Batteries - The go-karts use a 6 volt sealed lead battery with low initial resistance, as the starter motor has 3 second blasts in spinning the rotor, in trying to get it to self-turn with the momentum. To recharge it, a belt is run from the gearbox to a generator.
Safety Features - Ok, with the fuel I am not saying it is legal in robot wars (stupid 150 ml fuel rule) but the power-link is located underneath a sliding door in the back, the door is designed to take hits and adds another 6mm of RSP-707 TG for a spinner to get rid off. The fuel tanks are easy to get out of the robot, and in like I said before are racing spec, so that they are very hard to rip open. Other safety features is that in the pits, there is a cradle to store the robot on to turn the wheels, the drum is covered with a piece of 10mm aluminium bolted onto the front, removed before the fights.
Summary - A basic pushy robot. Thanks to Nick for helping me with designing this robot. The armour RSP-707 TG, is the same density of aluminium, but as tough as titanium, but is bloody expensive. Details see here - http://www.rsp-products.nl/pdf/sheet1.pdfhttp://www.rsp-products.nl/pdf/sheet1.pdf , I don€™t think I could get any more power out of that engine without boring it out (i.e. make it bigger)
Strengths - Can last until it runs out of fuel (15 minutes), lovely low front wedge, torque in first gear
            Weaknesses - Arena walls

            ----------------------------

            National Speed Limit Applies

            Shorten Name - NSA
            Mass - 100 kg
Weapons - The main weapon is a guillotine, this is powered by two ex-hydraulic 80mm rams on nitrogen gas, via a rack and pin system. The gas enters at 1000 psi, which gives this weapon some kick. To protect itself on the way back, some of the gas that was used to fire the weapon is sorted into a buffer tank, which when it is used to redraw the guillotine (gets about 50 psi max). To stop the robot from hopping around, a series of electromagnets are used to attach the robot to the floor when firing the weapon. If a wooden floor is used, the electromagnets are replaced by a heavy-duty vacuum cleaner, which sucks the robot to the floor with about 2.5 Mega Newtons of force. The blade itself can be replaced for two axe heads, which fire both at the same time.
The blade is a simple, straight, but thin (less than 1mm), which could in theory hit other robots at a velocity close to 100 mph, which should cut into armour. On the other hand a secondary blade can be used, which has a diamond coated edge. Used against titanium robots. The third blade is not a blade at all, but a flipper style piece of steel, which comes over the rear. See the picture as it is hard to explain. (Ask for picture if you need it)
The entire weapon system is designed to move within it€™s own free will. To stop it taking off, thick rubber blocks are used around all contact points to stop damage via shaking. In total, we have a finite number of fights, but with 4kg of nitrogen, it is around 50-60 fires, enough to destroy the toughest arena wall.
Srimech - It uses a simple arm to self-right it other the left-hand side. The arm is electric powered
Drive - Four Bosch 750€™s, each at 36 volts, each with a variable gearing system. 1:1, 8:1 or 17.5:1. The drive itself is belt. The front two wheels and rear two wheels are joined by a €œsecondary drive shaft€ which means if one of the motors fail, the power from the opposite motor can be used to turn the shaft, meaning that it will still be 4 wheel drives.
Velocity - 10 mph, 24 mph. We normally use the 24 mph for fights, and 10 mph for pushing. The 1:1 gearing is only used to run away from areas, as it reaches the speed limit of 60 mph, but it is very hard to control, and normally it means ramming into the wall to stop. It has no torque at 1:1.
Acceleration - The 10 mph is within 1 metre of moment, the 24 mph is within 3 metres of moment. The 60 mph is within 5 metres, but we don€™t use this much.
            Turning Circle - Dead Zero
Ground clearance - Zero at front, with lifting scoop. 1 cm around sides and rear, enough to stop low spinners getting underneath.
Wheel Type - 4, simple aluminium wheels with dry go-kart tyre nailed onto the aluminium. Solid and light.
Body Shape - Low Wedge, curved sides, and rear.
Armour - Rubbish in comparison, 3mm sides, with 5mm top and bottom. The armour itself, RSP-707 TG off course . The front scoop is 7mm RSP-707 TG, and can lift up to aid moments.
Colour - Unpainted for the light-weight look.
Summary - Low wedge, damaging weapon, cool name, good driver, good turner. Hopefully it will do well. The weapon is designed to eat into arena walls and floors.
Strengths - Control at low speeds, unflappable when held down with electromagnets or vacuum.
Weaknesses - Control at high speeds, has a habit of jumping around when weapon fires if not held down.

            ------------------------------

            Cuffy

Mass of the robot - 103 kg at start (3 kg of fuel); therefore mass when being weighed up is 100 kg.
Top Speed - As it is the same drive as on Wedgie 5, it still is 9 ms-1, with 9.6 ms-2 of acceleration.
Turning Circle - It uses a simple skid-steer system with the two wheels giving a near zero turning circle. This is assuming that everything is perfect, but as nothing can ever be perfect the turning circle is about 0.02 Metres, taking in account of friction and wheel movements.
Ground Clearance: Front is zero because of the scoop, the rear is 1 Cm, the sides are variable, from 1 cm without skirts, to 1mm with skirts.
Skirts - Skirts can be fitted if a flipper robot is fighting it, on the other hand there will be fitted against any low spinner, as I like my wheels.
Armour/chassis - The main chassis is 20mm steel bars, with triangles to hold the forces from the engine, the disc, and driving. Pieces of rubber at points prevent the robot shaking and breaking things when hit by robots called Tempest Eviloution. The main armour other the main important items (batteries, power link, motors etc) is 5mm titanium plating, with a layer of Dyneema UD-HB on top. Other the Dyneema UD-HB is a piece of axe proof polycarbonate. The rest of the robot has 4mm RSP-707 TG. The main robot is compact itself. The front scoop is 2mm Hardox, the rear has a block of rubber fitted so that spinners will eat into it and die of rubber poisoning.
Weapons - The main weapon is a vertical disc that weighs 10 kg and can run either way. The motor is a simple 7 kg super-charged custom-built rotary engine (150cc). The engine has 3 gears, the first is at the start and turns the flywheel from rest to 1000 rpm, the second gear gets the flywheel from 600 rpm to 3000 rpm, and the third gear gets the flywheel turning at 5000 rpm. The engine at this time is turning at 8000 rpm (out of 12000 rpm). To get the weapon up-to speeds it takes 2.23 seconds to swap into top gear, and a further 1.43 seconds to reach it€™s maximum speed, the super charger feeding fuel and air into the single cylinder with the rotor. The connection between the engine and the flywheel is by the 3 kg heavy-duty rotor shaft leading to a gearbox, which via another 3 kg shaft to the weapon. There is a 1 horsepower starter motor to starts the engine up if it stops, inside the engine is 2 spark plugs and the exhaust is at the top of the robot, which is just an exhaust. It spins in reverse. The entire disc unit can be taken out and a ramming spike can be used.
Srimech - This is the cool part, the robot is invertible, but if we want to tip it over, there is a simple electric window motor and arm setup, both parts work at the same time. The arm itself pushes the robot against the floor, in front of the wheels you see, and by putting the power down, the centre of mass has changed and so the robot will wheelie itself over. To stop it landing on the sides, the convex sides will prevent it landing.
Body - It€™s a reversed wedge, but the rear end doesn€™t go into a wedge, it ends about half way, where the rubber block is. Think the original Raging Reality for the shape.
Wheel motor type - - 2-wheel drive, using C40-500 MagMotor, on 36 volts with a 17.8:1 double stage, gearing system, the wheels are 200mm and made out of Volcalone rubber, giving grip. The wheels are mounted in the centre of the robot, because doing some tests using Lego says that the best place is the middle. The wheels has a bias towards the rear
Batteries - The robot is run by 4 packs of 3000mAh NiCad€™s @ 36 volts. This gives 12 Amps to get though the full 7 minutes of a fight. The engine€™s restart motor has it€™s own battery, a racing spec sealed battery.
Colour - It is unpainted to save weight.
            Summary - Compact, lethal, fast.

            Strengths - Compact, lethal, fast
Weaknesses - Rear is open to attack.

            Seggy the third

Mass - The chassis itself with no weapons fitted weighs in at 73 kg (give or take 0.5 kg). The heaviest weapon setup tips the scales at 100 kg.
This version of Seggy will have 9 interchangeable weapon options, these are
Weapon 1a - An invertible lifting arm, this arm is designed to work both ways around and is not designed to lift above 30 degree in either direction, as the stroke of the double ended custom piston is only 30 Cms, but with Co2, at 750 psi on the twin pistons should send a robot into the air. This system is the hardest to change, and takes about 30 minutes in real time. The co2 bottle is stored in a space in the chassis; it is removed if co2 is not needed, but not the pipe work. There is a chance that the pipe could break, however it is an ex-hydraulic ram pipes and can restand the pressure.
Weapon 1b - The original SEGv vertical drum weapon, the drum weighs 12.1 kg, and is tri belt driven using a simple ratio from a MagMotor at 36 volts. The speed at which the drum does its famous flipping routine is about 1251 rpm, so we run it at about 1250 rpm. Used mainly against skirted machines.
Weapon 1c - A horizontal spinning bar, weighing 10 kg, the motor is the same motor from the drum, but connected to the bar using 4 chains on a shaft. Runs about 2000 rpm. Used mainly against machines with exposed frame and weapons.
Weapon 1d - This weapon is a four tooth blade, running at 2000 rpm, the good thing of this blade is that it can be adjusted heights, so one fight it could be at ground level for wheels and the next fight if fixed it can be at the right height to hit something else. The system for spin is the same setup as the bar.
Weapon 1e - This is a 12 tooth blade, the same as the 4 tooth blade, but larger (5kg) compared to the four tooth€™s 4 kg. It is run via the same system.
Weapon 1f - A spike, this is run at 1000 psi co2 and fires about 150 mph. The spike can fire about 20 times per fight, so it should be used wisely.
Weapon 1g - This is a passive scoop, used for 80 kg competitions. It is simple but efficient.
Weapon 1h - This is a passive scoop, used for 100 kg competitions. The scoop itself weighs 24 kg of solid steel, which will be enough to stop about 50% of spinners. The cool thing is a little flail, such as on Hurricane 2, is on the wedge to make it active. The scoop has an invertible tip on the top to make it work upside down.
Weapon 1i - This is an €˜active€™ anti spinner scoop. It is designed to flex backwards with the forces from the spinner. The twin shocks are designed to be adjusted to allow for mega energy levels, at its maximum tightness the scoop can re-stand a massive 1 MJ of kinetic energy. The normal running tightness can re-stand 100 kJ, because of the smooth, oiled piston in which the main spring is stored it creates a virtually zero friction levels. Then the fun can begin, as the energy is released in what Andy said, one massive amount, pushing the spinner anti-clockwise, which in some cases will destroy the shaft. This bias to the left can be changed to the right. The centre pole is held within an oiled shaft which makes damage zero. To protect the back of the scoop and the front of the robot, there is a piece of 1cm rubber either side of the shock zone. For protection, there are torsion spring loaded side panels, which protect the inners of the scoop and flex outwards when the scoop is loaded.
Weapon 2 - 4 rear spikes, each one weighing 100 grams and are fixed. These give protection from ramming and spinners.
Weapon 3 - Wheel shields to protect the wheels from axes, these are weighed so that once flipped the shields cover the other wheels.
Can it self-right - It is fully invertible, and the wheel shields on top make hitting the wheels hard. To stop the robot ending up on it€™s back and sides, a little roll-over cage is fitted.
Velocity - This version is slower than the original to aid control, the cruising velocity is 18 mph. This velocity is reached within 2 metres so this robot packs a punch.
Turning Circle - The 4 wheels use a skid-steer method. This gives a turning circle of zero mm.
Ground clearance - The ground clearance all over the machine is 20mm, this giving aid to turning, the front has an optioned wedge, which is fixed with some weapons without a scoop (drum, spinners). The skirts reduce the ground clearance to zero

Skirts - This version, I have finally got some skirts to fit against flippers and wedges. These are normal skirts, which when inverted fold back on themselves, when the electromagnet is released. The skirts hold down with a force about 2000 Newtons, meaning that I don€™t normally like them, because of the added resistance and the lack of moments.
Wheel Type - This is new, 2 LEM 130€™s at 36 volts, though a double chain reduction gearbox, giving overall 17.5:1 reduction. The chains themselves are protected by axes and crushers by the use of a steel protection bar. The 4 wheels are lovely go-kart wheels, solid, with added grip pads.
Body Shape: Semi-invertible box with rear spikes and side roll-over bars.
Safety - The front weapon is connected via some bolts, about 100 bolts are used to hold the front part in, and this gives strength from rammers. The power link is located at the rear between the two spikes, there is a 6mm steel sliding door covering it. The aerial is connected at the rear as well and you can pick the robot up by it. Every system is protected by fail safes.
Chassis - The robot is a 6mm steel monocoque. The chassis is enforced with 18mm steel triangles giving a very tough little robot. The first weapon will fit within a large cut-out in the robot. See the picture of the chassis without weapons.
Colour: - it is a shade of yellow, with metallic threads within the paint, sprayed on to give it about 2mm of paint. When the scoops are fitted, the cut-out is covered with 5mm of knitted nylon.
Batteries - The robot is run by 3 packs of 3000mAh NiCDs @ 36 volts. This gives 9 Amps to get though the full 5 minutes of a fight. There is a simple recharging battery to recharge the batteries throughout the fight to keep it going.
Summary - The third version. Hopefully it should have gotten rid of the poor drive-chain and the high ground clearance of the 2nd version. Most of the robot is the second version, but with new electrics, and drive chain.

Ill do that, Dave, so theres 3 places left to fill!

Velociraptors Fanfic Tournament - Series 6!

One more thing, Dave - Im not sure NSA should replace WOSS in the seeding, as its not much like WOSS. Flipping Mad TU and Push-Ish are fine replacing TSC and David Sheppard though.
