    Venus Fly Trap (11) vs. *69

    From Glasgow, Scotland, seeded number 11...Venus Fly Trap!
    A rather vengeful 11th seed comes through our tournament's looking glass...

    Melissa: So what are you planning to do with the opponent out there?
    Steve: Clamp, lift, pit. Easy as one, two, three.
    Melissa: Well with that kind of a plan, you can't fail.
    Steve: Now now, don't give me undeserved confidence. I am always supposed to win when I believe that I won't.
    Melissa: So you're a bit of a fake pessimist? :P
    Steve: Pretty much. :P
    Melissa: Blimey...

    Sigh...it's a Hardox-armoured wedge with prongs and a lifting plate powered by an S28-400 MagMotor, designed to grapple opponents and bring them wherever it pleases...versatile, somewhat powerful, and nippy, but the weapon is rather exposed and so is the ground clearance...could we have a withered 11th seed on the horizon?

    C&B1: Didn't compete.
    C&B2: Didn't compete.
    C&B3: Went down the pit in its Heat Final thanks to current champ Disco 5.

    The phone's ringing...and somebody's answering with a vicious tendency!

    Melissa: How's *69 doing?
    Martyn: A little peeved since Gravity defeated him last series.
    Melissa: And what's your plan here?
    Martyn: Spin up...and hit things. That's basically all it does. :P
    Melissa: Well then I will basically say...good luck to you.
    Martyn: And I'll say...thanks, I guess.

    It's a ring spinner shaped like a star...dear me. A LEM200 Lynch motor powers the ring where it reaches horrifying speeds, two LEM130s take the drive and Hardox armour covers the rest! Unfortunately it seems rather ill-adapted for pushing despite its power...could the stormy skies return to cloud this star's shine?

    C&B1: Didn't compete.
    C&B2: Smashed apart by Tengu VII in Round 2.
    C&B3: Collapsed again in Round 2 when Gravity flipped it into the pit.

    Roboteers, stand by...

    And immediately!...the shell of *69 is up to speed! So Steve's hopes are misplaced because it IS quite dangerous right now! What a blur! In comes...Venus Fly Trap, but looking rather pensive, not wanting to risk damage...unfortunately that's what it seems to be in for! And now Martyn pours on the aggression, *69 is in pursuit and the seed backs off...but finds his predator faster than he is! Terrified, Venus Fly Trap heads for the middle of the arena, but gets hit by the arena saws! BZZT! Ah, but they throw him out of the path of *69, who has to stop and re-orient itself. That gives Steve enough time to head over to the pit release and slam it, opening the pit and whoooa-hey, watch out for that pit, Martyn! *69 skitters away from it, still on its spinning blowhard and Venus Fly Trap sees no other alternative; gathering courage, it plunges into the star's depths!

    CRASH!!!

    Whether it was bravery or just plain foolishness, it only looks to be foolishness at this point; one of the prongs is gone! Dislodged and lying bent ten feet behind its owner, it'll be of no use to Steve now! But it doesn't seem *69 is spinning...ah. There we are. It seems to take *69 a bit to time to recover, but Steve hasn't had time to react and now *69's got its weapon spinning and immediately back to full smashing power! Its weaponry diluted in usefulness somewhat, the 11th seed tries to take a defensive approach to this; dodging around the spinner, it heads to the middle of the arena, hiding behind the arena saws that it tripped over in the beginning of the fight. Martyn knows Steve's strategy but is unsure now if he can take it out like that. *69, after a moment's pause, cautiously moves around the saws to avoid them popping up and accidentally being struck, but Venus Fly Trap moves around again to put the saws between it and its fearsome opponent! Martyn curses, and so becomes a bit reckless; *69 charges over the saws!

    CRASH!!!

    And it seemed the right thing to do, as Venus Fly Trap's lifting plate is now warped much too out of shape to properly use now! *69 however isn't spinning again, and Venus Fly Trap moves in to try and get that plate under *69...but it's too bent to even slide under *69 now. What's more, *69 seems to be pushing back, and winning! Steve tries to gain some ground in the pusher contest, but finally concedes it when *69 slams it into the arena wall and holds it there for a few brief seconds...before Venus Fly Trap actually gets the plate under *69! Up it...goes? Up Venus Fly Trap goes! The left-side pivot is gone, of course, so that means Venus Fly Trap has lifted *69...and then itself, sideways! Realizing this isn't going to work at all, Steve lets *69 go, but flies after it. It's too bad however; *69 is again spinning back up, and is at full speed when Steve finally catches up to it...but that's because *69 stops retreating and starts aggressing!

    CRASH!!!

    And starts ripping panels off of Venus Fly Trap! The plate is gone! The supports are there but they're bent into pieces and the lifting plate's been decked into the side wall! With only one situated prong on the side of his wedge to help him, Steve is really fearing for his robot's safety now, as *69 begins spinning again! Venus Fly Trap is in there again, but again *69 is just too quick at escaping and then spinning up! With another brutal onslaught, *69 meets its wedgy opponent!

    CRASH!!!

    It meets the side of Venus Fly Trap's wedge and bends it inwards, sending itself flying across the arena in the process! Ahh...dear. Steve moves in again, but *69 has cornered itself in an empty CPZ where it landed, and it can't get way in time before the wounded seed wedges it and slams it into the wall! It's all Steve can do now however, as *69 has utterly demolished its weaponry! Renegade is nearing the patrol zone, and Venus Fly Trap quickly exits it before the house robot does appear! *69 tries to follow but finds its progress blocked as 215kg of mean, green Darkzlayerz squishes it against the arena wall, clamps in, and starts hammering on it! Venus Fly Trap waits outside the CPZ patiently, but it's only a couple of seconds before Renegade releases the star, which pushes past the wedge before it can attack and tries to get some room to start spinning. Venus Fly Trap isn't hearing any of it and pursues it, but *69, deftly evades another charge and finally gets to spinning up again! Steve is frantic and does a 180 almost instantly, but *69 is spinning way too fast to be stopped!

    CRASH!!!

    And it tears into the wedge itself this time, bending and carving it up! Both bots are flung across the grounds again, and the seed really looks beaten up here! *69 isn't spinning again, though, so Steve is after it! What a tenacious little robot! Martyn has his robot evade the charge...but where's the spinning action? A quizzical expression passes Martyn's face and we definitely know something's wrong here! *69 cannot spin up again, it looks like! Has it dished out its last meal of pain? Has it short-circuited? Whatever the case, his victory is slipping and Venus Fly Trap sees new life given to it! It flies into the baffled ring spinner and stuffs it into the wall, unable to get it towards the pit. *69 is stuck against the wedge and on the wall and the seed futilely tries to push it towards Count Bleck's CPZ, but desists after a few seconds.*69 gets away again, and Venus Fly Trap iss a bit too slow to catch it, but *69 still cannot spin up! Martyn is really feeling nervous now, he wants to avoid that pit as much as possible, but Venus Fly Trap looks to be all over it now! It isn't long before *69 is cornered again and Venus Fly Trap has it on the wedge! This time, Venus Fly Trap takes it into the Disc of Death nearby!

    CRASH!!!

    Some sparks, but the hit is largely ineffective, and sadly it's dislodged *69 from Venus Fly Trap's grip! Not that it really matters much, *69's weaponry looks to be disabled and it's having a real hard time fighting now! Venus Fly Trap is in its face again, *69 avoids it again but can't avoid the turnaround charge and is wedged again, this time balanced on Venus Fly Trap's remaining prong! With a now secure grip on its opponent, Venus Fly Trap finally turns to the pit and flings itself across the arena as desperately as it can! Martyn's agonized look tells the tale here as the battle turns completely on its head and the impressive-looking *69 eats pit bottom!

    CEASE!

    The weatherman's called for a 100% chance of some heavy showers, Martyn. Your *69 is extinguished.

    Bloody Frigid vs. LowDown

    From Patricia, Canada...Bloody Frigid!
    A blood-chilling tale to be sure for this newcomer.

    Melissa: And welcome back to the pits! You've got a robot in the Semis already! Going for another?
    Tracy: You bet! And I'm thrilled.
    Melissa: Great! What's your game plan here?
    Tracy: Nothing special, to be frank. Just grab the bugger and pit it.
    Melissa: And it'll be enough to grant you a second robot in our Semis?
    Tracy: I'd like to think so.
    Melissa: *aside* A little happy today, I think...

    Remember Razer? Well this seems to be inspired by it. Low wedge design with a crushing beak that can exert 15 tonnes of force at the ram. It has a thick Titanium monocoque and has a powerful drive system to outpace most robots. It also can right itself, but it's slow to work, and the ground clearance is a bit yawning for me.

    Ironically went down to Razer itself last wars...

    Melissa: So I take it you're not pleased about going up against another crusher?
    Daniel: Not really. Razer got us pretty good in the last wars. So I hope to change that but I'm not...really confident, haha.
    Melissa: Haha, well how are you going to prevent the same loss this time?
    Daniel: Well hopefully we're going to dodge the crusher, get to its sides and try to flip it over somehow, then push it into the pit. Or pit it right-side-up if I can.
    Melissa: Seems like a good enough plan to me! Good luck!
    Daniel: Thanks. We'll probably need it.

    An invertible Hardox brick with a pointed rear and bolted sides to stop stranding. It has decent power with 2 S28-400 MagMotors on its 6WD, and ha two potent lifting spikes that can work either way up. Unfortunately it has a high ground clearance and that made it susceptible last time around. Will we see it go down even lower this time?

    And off we go again! Here's Bloody Frigid on the attack STRAIGHT AWAY! Well we knew LowDown had a high ground clearance but this is ridiculous! They've already gotten around to LowDown's side, they're taken advantage of the sketchy 6WD, and they've clamped it! Now where do Team Britespark go from here? There's no escape, the beak weaponry is puncturing that 4mm Hardox already, oohh! Look at that! A great breach in the top armourment! And Tracy isn't merely content with damaging it, she wants to win! Oh ho, there's the pit release button! Will LowDown suffer the same fate as last wars? A great display from the newcomer! Poor old LowDown, it's driven into the button...ah, pit pit pit, cry the crowd. LowDown's doom is niiiigh...and it crashes out! Down into the pit, Team Alt have a second robot through to a Heat Final! Unlucky Daniel Stickler is appalled, and you would be, wouldn't you?

    CEASE!

    Danny gave us the LowDown...but the pit wasn't impressed!

      And within hours (:P), two more battles I give to ye. Let's give the antweights some more fun before our Heat Finalists duke it out, shall we?

      Razzler vs. Katjuscha vs. Wedge 3mm vs. Bobcat

      From Bournemouth in Dorset...Razzler!
      The Razer pull-back toy! Well-armoured and well weaponed for one, too! Unfortunately it won't be too much use here...

      From Holland...Katjuscha!
      An S3-shaped machine with Titanium scoop and carbon-fibre armour...and a nasty vertical cutting blade too...but it will fly...

      From Glasgow, Scotland...Wedge 3mm!
      A polycarbonate box wedge with a rounded rear and a powerful (by antweight standards) rear-hinged pneumatic flipper. Won't get stuck on its side but it'll be hard to control.

      From Pontefract...Bobcat!
      It's another crusher, armoured with polypropylene and titanium crushing beak. Wedge shaped and able to self-right, it seems a bit tricky to control as well.

      And back to the little antweight arena we go, complete with drop-off zone and all.

      Hahahahaha! Well that's a VERY fast start, I daresay! Bobcat and Wedge 3mm are flying all over the place, hardly even hitting anything, while Katjuscha and Razzler are moving pretty slowly themselves. Eventually Katjuscha pours on the power and moves a bit quicker, but is suddenly caught by Bobcat from the rear and the beak comes down on...nothing? Nope! Katjuscha twisted out of its grasp! AND HITS IT!!! AND HAHAHAHA...Katjuscha is out! The spinner was sent flying backwards under the force of its own power, bounced off the polycarb wall, and into the drop-off area! Well THAT'S one worry out of the...way? Bobcat isn't...able to self-right from that position? Well what a one-hit decider we have here. But wait...Wedge 3mm is trying to attack Razzler...however, neither are having such luck and - oh. Wedge 3mm has finally found Razzler, and it's flipped Razzler...into the drop-off zone! Bobcat is saved as Wedge 3mm rights it. That was quick, but...with a hit like that, what do you expect?

      CEASE!

      Katjuscha sent packing back to from whence it came, and Razzler was dazed by its competition!

      Melissa: Oh dear, that looks a mess...
      Steve: *sigh* Indeed it does. *69 made a good mess of it and we're trying to piece it back together.
      Melissa: Will it be ready for the Heat Final?
      Steve: I hope so. I'd really be gutted if we went out at this stage. Oh, and I'll make sure to stay away from the crushing beak if we do make it.
      Melissa: All right...and over to the Alt table...any repairs that need to be done?
      Tracy: Not here.
      Melissa: You seem better prepared than Steve does...
      Steve: Anybody would if their opponent just got ripped into shreds but survived on a limb, m'dear. :P
      Tracy: Well I'll have to make sure your limb gets ripped to shreds too. :twisted:
      Melissa: More fighting words...please take it to the arena!

      And off the mark we have two mighty machines here, Venus Fly Trap seemingly the hardier due to surviving all that punishment from *69 last round, look, see those scratches on the wedge? That's all that's left of the assault, it's repaired now as is the weaponry, and it's in there now, trying to...find Bloody Frigid in its clutches! Tracy doesn't want that to happen and tries to use its superior manoeuvrability to get to Venus Fly Trap's side, but the seeded machine can turn faster than Bloody Frigid can go around! Eventually Venus Fly Trap wins out and starts to get under Bloody Frigid, but it drives off, over the prong and away before the - ahh...you shouldn't lift your weapon up that early, Venus Fly Trap. But it seems that Bloody Frigid can't get in there before the weaponry's back down - no, Venus Fly Trap's back in action. They're trying to...feel each other out, trying to find a sort of...weakness, of sorts. Bloody Frigid seems to like that high ground clearance of Venus Fly Trap's and is trying so hard to get to them, but can't quite catch it and ends up putting itself side-on to the seeded machine's weaponry again! Steve moves forward again with every intention of trapping that grappler on the plate for good, but Bloody Frigid is by far the nippier machine and scoots out of danger quickly. Tracy has her work cut out for her here. How can she get her robot in to those sides of Venus Fly Trap's...Steve is defending them, he knows they're vulnerable, he's doing a bloody good job of it too, but Steve cannot bring his own weaponry into play either, the crusher is surprisingly the quicker of the two. Another weave...oh! A traction error! Venus Fly Trap's oversteered and left itself open! And Bloody Frigid is moving in! Oh yes! The seed is in trouble! Bloody Frigid is under the side! The crusher is down, and uh...it's puncturing. Steve isn't happy about this, not one bit! What...what's this? Venus Fly Trap is pushing its lifting plate against the arena floor! And it's lifted Bloody Frigid's wheels off the ground as well its own! So now we have a deadlock! And who will break it I wonder? Ooh. The Watcher comes in and has a look...Tracy doesn't want to let go of Steven's machine, but it seems she has no choice! But before she can, The Watcher pushes into them, thinking they're stuck together! And pushes them over an arena spike! Which subsequently pops Bloody Frigid onto its side and releasing Venus Fly Trap! But unfortunately, Venus Fly Trap has to raise its own weaponry to get its wheels back on the ground, and as it does just that, Bloody Frigid has almost righted itself. Its speed enables it to hurtle away from danger as the 11th seed moves in again to take advantage with its plate, and we have a fight again!

      So it's a dogged chase on each end; and Bloody Frigid is the faster but isn't fast enough to go around the seed before the seed faces it back. Steve plays another turmp card, and spins the other way. As Tracy moves in for an attack, Steve thwacks the prong against the side of Bloody Frigid and turns it away, exposing the side again, but once more the agility of Bloody Frigid kicks in and Steve is left in the dust. He dogs Bloody Frigid around the arena but slips up again and turns around just too much and Tracy is left with another golden opportunity! Instead she moves to the rear and tries to crush, but cannot gain enough purchase there and has to back off as Venus Fly Trap turns about and goes after Bloody Frigid. Then Tracy turns on the aggression, hurtling her bloodied robot towards the giant lifter of Venus Fly Trap! Before she can swerve around it, as she intended, she is caught by the plate...but gets under it anyway! Her shock is so great that she forgets her advantage and Steve is able to get away! Cursing she goes forwards but Venus Fly Trap has put enough distance between it and itself to regroup. Another charge from Tracy results in Steve swinging his robot around again, and again catches the side of Bloody Frigid, turning it aside and exposing the side, but is greatly irritated as AGAIN Bloody Frigid manages to escape it! Bloody Frigid decides that it's had enough and gets after the pit release, slamming into it and sending the pit fallen into its hole, but it's a near thing, and Venus Fly Trap crashes into Bloody Frigid as Tracy's bot turns around...neither can get under the other! Unfortunately for Steve, Bloody Frigid's power is all in its wheels and it manages to push the 4WD machine backwards...only for a moment, however, as Venus Fly Trap backs away, putting a bit of space between it and its attacker again, and spins about again as Bloody Frigid passes it...this time, it strikes gold! Tracy turns too late, and is caught on the plate completely, unable to escape! Jubiliant, Steve activates the lifter and Bloody Frigid is soon as helpless as a toy in a crane machine! It turns to the pit Bloody Frigid just opened, and although Tracy tries to fight the lifter, it's completely futile, and Venus Fly Trap racks up another pitting as Bloody Frigid's valiant efforts are silenced!

      CEASE!

      Bloody Frigid ain't so cool anymore after that heated battle.
      Venus Fly Trap (11) advances to the Series Semi-Finals!

      13th seed, The May Tracks Has You, will try to make Blast see that...it is inevitable!

        The May Tracks Has You (13) vs. Blast

        From Gainsborough, seeded number 13...The May Tracks Has You!
        13, unlucky for some. Unlucky the last few seasons too.

        Melissa: So what improvements have you made to the May Tracks since last wars?
        Frank: None. We got pitted in a tough fight, nothing some better driving can't cure.
        Melissa: And your experience will prove telling, you think?
        Frank: If it doesn't, I'll be quite shocked. The barbs are still here, the flipper's still functional, just need to get the opponent on them.
        Melissa: Seems a plan. Good luck with that.
        Frank: Luck? ...it is inevitable.
        Melissa: *sighs inwardly*

        A thin, tracked Hardox box wedge with barbs on the wedge to keep them there...until the full-pressure flipper launches them! It's got decent LEM drive that's undervolted for more control, but it might lose in a pushing match. It also has a strip of metal on the top to stop robots going right over it. Going for a fourth season, could it go all the way here?

        C&B1: (as Enter the May Tracks) Reached the Series Final, but was disposed of in the quarter-finals into the pit by Clawdius Decimus Murderous.
        C&B2: (as Enter the May Tracks, seeded 7th) Suffered a similar fate at the disc of BIACS-LE in its heat final.
        C&B3: (seeded 25th) Launched into the pit by Nitro-Gene 5.0, again in the heat final.

        From Orpington in Kent...Blast!
        Blast it! Blast it all to hell!

        Melissa: And we have another box flipper here, capable of...?
        Paul: Throwing other robots 5 feet upwards, and 6 feet across.
        Melissa: Do you think that will be enough to take out May Tracks?
        Paul: May Tracks? Well if we can get him close enough to the arena wall, then yes.
        Melissa: And what happens if you can't?
        Paul: Then...not sure. Flip him around a lot, I reckon. :P
        Melissa: Always good to have a back-up plan.

        Similar to previous machines Nitro-Gene 5.0 and Harraz who both failed earlier in the competition...a box with angled sides and rear, and scoopy front which is part of a full-pressure flipping mechanism similar to T-Minus and Toro. Pretty fast, but it expends a lot of energy using the flipper so it's very limited. Is this newcomer ready to 'blast off again?'

        House robots? Seriously? Okay. Matilda! Growler! Front and center!

        And pop goes the...match, I guess! Blast is off to the faster start here, and immediately smashes into the front of May Tracks here...and gets under it! It's at an angle though, so Blast pops it over quickly. However, May Tracks rights itself instantly, so perhaps that was a waste of CO2 by Blast there...not wise. Blast is after it though and getting under the...rear of the side pushes it towards the arena wall...but doesn't flip, and is in the right for it as it would have flipped air...but May Tracks fell off the wedge a second before Blast hit the wall, and is now in a great position to get it out! It gets under skirts and ultimately the entire side of Blast, but is at a bad angle for doing so, so Frank merely tosses it over in the blink of an eye! Blast fires the flipper...which sends it into a full 360! May Tracks immediately capitalizes on this and flips it, but mistimes it and sends Blast into the wall...along into the Disc of Death!

        CRASH!!!

        It tears into Blast's armour and sends it skidding across the floor, the side skirt almost completely ripped off its hinges, held on by only a few bolts! It's also made getting under the side of Blast a breeze, as May Tracks so proves! As Frank gets under, he flips Blast over onto its back again, and Blast has to try and self-right again...and again sends itself into the 360! May Tracks waits, then pushes it into Growler's CPZ! The pooch lies waiting for the petrified inverted flipper to be pushed in and immediately clamps the barely-skirted side of it, crushing it off instantly and loosening its own immediate grip, allowing Blast to self-right...and it does this time, its power weakened enough to skip the 360 and move to 180! However May Tracks is right there to flip it right back over...on top of Growler! Growler exits the CPZ to allow Blast to fall flat onto the floor, and Blast self-rights again, but Frank is just too quick for Paul and May Tracks rams into Blast again, getting under again and flipping it...off the barrier and into the waiting jaws of Growler! The pooch hadn't lain idle and had spun around as Blast became inverted and was sent hurtling its way, and now has a proper hold on it! Growler turns about and runs across the arena into the empty CPZ opposite! Oh dear, this won't be pretty...WHAM!!! Growler collides with the wall at 23mph, Blast caught in front and taking the worst of it! Growler releases Blast after this, and Blast trundles away...only to be flipped over again by May Tracks after a surprise side assault! Blast tries to self-right properly again and does so...only directly on top of May Tracks! And this time, it's caught on the barbs so there's no way out! May Tracks, however, isn't too sure of its OOTAing capabilites after its recent failed attempts at them recently, so it heads over to Matilda's CPZ! Matilda is happy to deliver the damage and turns about; Paul dreads the inevitable as the flywheel comes into play, and he fires the flipper in alarm...that throws him off the barbs, but directly in front of Matilda's flywheel, which May Tracks pushes him into!

        CRASH!!!

        And Blast is definitely blasted...sent flying overtop of May Tracks and lies flat behind it! May Tracks wasn't expecting this and is caught from the rear, but Blast is definitely slower than before; nonetheless it manages to flip May Tracks over... barely. There is barely enough pressure left in Blast's flipper to render an opponent inverted. May Tracks self-rights quickly and evades Blast's weakened charge, getting to the sides and flipping it over again! Blast self-rights, again only utilizing its remiaing power, but May Tracks is back under it and tossing it back over. It seems May Tracks held more flips than its opponent did, and Blast self-rights, just barely again. But Frank is having none of this game; May Tracks outpaces Blast once more and fully wedges it; Frank decides it's best if he has one more shot and lines Blast up with the pit release button. Racing towards it, May Tracks fires the flipper...and Blast again fails to clear the barrier, bouncing off the button and landing near Matilda's CPZ again. Matilda nudges it with the tusks to see if it's still mobile...it is, but barely. May Tracks is after it for the umpteenth time this match though, and manages to flip it over again, now its own flipper supply is running low, possibly. However that seems to have gotten Blast's number; it's trying to self-right, but the pressure's gone down too far! Blast is unable to self-right; Paul knows it, the crowd knows it, Frank definitely knows it, and backs off to let The Watcher count them out!

        And that's the end of Blast! Paul's 3rd robot is denied entry into the semi-finals, and now the house robots can have their playtime! Matilda...oooh, this simply cannot end well...

        The skirtless side of Blast takes the blow like a pro, hardly a scratch, and it's been flipped back over, allowing Blast to move! Paul, instead of wanting to deal with a bloodthirsty Growler and equally chaotic Matilda, tries to make a go for the pit. This it achieves...and Growler just manages to hit the back of it...then does collapses onto it as it follows Blast! That's not your kennel, my friend.

        Samuel: If their isn't bigger than mine, I feel slightly more confident.
        Melissa: *aside* Boys and their toys...
        Samuel: What was that?
        Melissa: Erm, nothing...

        I'll tell you what's 'nothing'...you, after meeting this thing! 32kg...is the weight of its massive spinning ring made of 11mm Titanium and Hardox teeth, and its max RPM of 2000 can lay the hurt on opponents right swift. It's also a good pusher and fast with LEM130 drive...but is it really adapted for pushing? And its wheels, with all invertibile bots, are prone to damage from overhead attacks...

        Invertible, box-shaped, 26kg undercutting disc, scoopy side blades. That seems to fit the bill. It's not a slouch with Bosch motors, and it has thick polypropylene armour, but it's rather tricky at turning with the 75cm width and big disc...

        And so our two spinners travel up to speed...wait a moment...is that...is MacBeth's blade too high to hit Blue Hurricane?! It looks like it is! There's no way for MacBeth to get its blade in!Can Daniel see it yet from his control booth? I don't believe he can - ooh, yes he can! MacBeth's backing away! A look of complete disbelief is evident on Daniel's face! He's noticed, we've noticed, and Samuel has more noticably noticed, and Blue Hurricane looks mightily more formidable now! The height of Blue Hurricane is too low for MacBeth's inverted blade to hit! What can Daniel do here? Ahh...turn around and attack Sir Killalot?! What are you doing?!

        CRASH!!!

        That rebellious shrimp! MacBeth's attacked the mighty Sir Killalot! And ripped the breastplate straight off, enting another part of the 280kg machine! Samuel sees this and holds off attacking MacBeth...and Sir Killalot's...not moving?! What have you done, Daniel Stickler?! You've just immobilized our knight of the realm! In one shot! How could this happen? And dear me, Mr. Psycho is aaaaangry! Here he comes! Blue Hurricane is away! So is MacBeth! He can't hit Blue Hurricane at this height, but, uh...heh, he can hit just everything else, can't he? Haha. Uh oh, Mr. Psycho's moving in, watch yourself! And a smile appears on Samuel's face! What could this mean?!

        CRASH!!!

        It means Blue Hurricane is attacking, and just has attacked Mr. Psycho from behind, and the sparks fly! You young whippersnappers, you! These competitors are really getting quite rebellious this series! But Blue Hurricane's done hardly anything to Mr. Psycho, other than making him change targets, as the ring spinner's sent flying back into the wall! But before Mr. Psycho can move forward to bring the hammer and claw into play, ah...you've got MacBeth to worry about, sir; Daniel smells the sudden teamwork here from a distance! He moves MacBeth forward as the disc spins wildly!

        CRASH!!!

        And that's torn quite a few pieces off of Mr. Psycho this time! It hit high enough to actually do some good damage! Now that's power, and lots of it! Mr. Psycho spins around again, but Blue Hurricane's not spinning at the moment, so uh...what'chu gonna do, when Psycho Mania runs wild on you?! Run away, that's what! and MacBeth is certainly doing just that, the disc's spinning back up though, and now so is Blue Hurricane! Now...come on, then, Psycho! Get him! ...oh no! Mr. Psycho's speed and manoeuvrability, or lack thereof, is really hindering him here; he can't catch MacBeth and attack! All of a sudden...

        CRASH!!!

        Blue Hurricane catches the rear of Mr. Psycho, again not doing much damage but deflecting himself away! And Psycho isn't bothering with him now, the house roboteer has seen the lack of damage Blue Hurricane is achieving and Mr. Psycho's eyes are on the discbot ahead! But MacBeth is still proving to be faster, and decides that enough is enough and confronts the house robot with a mighty -

        CRASH!!!

        Yes, that. And Mr. Psycho has remained steady while MacBeth's flung itself across the arena...and...oh you have got to be kidding me. Mr. Psycho has just stopped moving entirely! It seems the power of MacBeth's disc has...somehow, rendered Mr. Psycho immobile! Daniel waves to the crowd, having just taken out BOTH of the mighty house robots! But now the real battle continues, as MacBeth and Blue Hurricane spot each other...again, how can MacBeth take on Blue Hurricane with that blade so high? Daniel sees the answer; the arena spike! Disc unspinning, he heads towards it, but is cut-off by a very menacing Blue Hurricane!

        CRASH!!!

        And the front polypropylene takes a hit and...seems to be bent inwards a bit! Both bots are about 5 feet separated from their collision spot, and MacBeth makes for the arena spike...getting to it before Blue Hurricane can charge him! It pops him up...and over! And now MacBeth is an undercutter once more! And...well come on, then, spin up the blade! Daniel isn't looking very happy...Blue Hurricane is spinning back up to full speed here...come on, MacBeth, spin us all up a blur, do! Something smells rotten in the Britespark camp here...no that isn't burning rubber, I'm afraid.

        CRASH!!!

        It's the sound of MacBeth's hopes being drained! The side panel's been torn off completely in one hit! Must not have been bolted on very well, then! And I think we're watching the life pour out of MacBeth, here! It's smoking - all that house robot attacking must have done something to it, Daniel knew he wasn't going to come out well here when he saw that the blade was too high, and now...well, he's done a good job destroying the house robots, though, so that counts for something. Blue Hurricane spins down and backs off as The Watcher moves in to count out a now house robot-fearing Britespark machine!

          From Cardiff in Wales...Small System Shock!
          A very wide and invertible featherweight box with immense pushing power, Hardox armour and a static wedge in front like Tornado to push other robots around. Its length is questionable, however...

          From Patricia, Canada...Innis!
          This rounded box has a vicious spinning disc on its rather pointed front end with two tool steel teeth. Mildly nippy, aluminium armoured, and invertible, it'll rip you to shreds, but its turning power may prove weak.

          From Geddinton...Sith!
          It can get under you competely...small spatulas help this wedge with slanted sides do just that. Approach it from the side and you're still likely to end up on its actuated flipping arm. Kevlar body armour and windscreen wiper motors for drivetrain tell the rest of this feather's tale.

          From Pontefract...Redemption!
          This steel, titanium, and polycarbonate parallelogram wedge has two vertical grinding blades to grind you, and two Bosch motors to push you around all day. Very fast for a featherweight and invertible, it's here to redeem...itself?

          Roboteers, stand by...

          Back to the Battlegrounds we go, then...more middleweight house robot fun too, as Perseus and Cassandra who is part of the Alexandra Sisters: Retribution clusterbot, take their places.

          Let the feathers fly! It's Redemption who's off to the quickest start, and Sith is right up with it! Small System Shock joins in as well as Innis, and we've got a fight here already! In comes Sith with the flip on Redemption, but it doesn't matter much as Redemption is invertible, however System Shock charges under Sith and carries it across the arena, slamming it hard against the arena wall and knocking Sith several feet away! Blimey, that was an impact! Sith, looking for revenge, is cut from the path when Innis move in from the side!

          CRASH!

          The kevlar doesn't hold up well at all, a great tear is made down the side as Sith is sent flying back! Redemption...doesn't take Innis onto its wedge...oh ho ho ho, we've got another team-up again! Liam and Alex know it now too; they turn, nod to each other, and suddenly it's become a tag-team terror! Sith comes back on the attack, trying to overturn Innis and does so, but Redemption wedges it from the rear and carries it across the arena for a ram...when suddenly System Shock catches up from behind and slams them all into the wall! Sith goes flying but Redemption remains trapped on System Shock's wedge! Innis spins its blade back up to speed, but System Shock turns its attention to it now! It leaves Redemption there and bores full in on the spinner! Tracy tries to avoid the assault...and does so! Well that charge wasn't very accurate, Liam. And to make things worse, Redemption's back and looking to defend Innis from a brutal ram! Sith however makes that a bit harder, catching the rear of Redemption and flipping it over...but that leaves it wide open for another Innis-ing!

          CRASH!!

          Innis delivers a huge hit, and the impact sends both bots flying! Sith goes flying further and now both its sides are beaten, broken, and scarred! Redemption meanwhile has rammed System Shock but has failed to get under it and is now being taken to the arena wall and OH! That's wretched! Right into the CPZ where Perseus is! And Perseus' brings down his hammer...AND HITS SYSTEM SHOCK!? Oh dear, what on earth?! System Shock went too far into the danger arena, sending Redemption off a bit and leaving it in clear hammering position! Can System Shock...yes, he's away. Dear me, what an impact and what a sturdy robot to have survived such a blow, Small System Shock. Redemption however has left the CPZ and is back in Sith;s face as Sith tries to take advantage of Innis' recovery time...uh oh! Small System Shock's spotted Innis and is hurtling towards it! Innis is now spinning! Innis is now at full speed! System Shock is driving at full speed! And the collision must be intense!

          CRASH!!!

          The wedge takes a massive blow, but is only slightly dented and Innis is spun away like a dog chasing its tail! Liam is back in to take advantage, and scoops his robot under Tracy's, sending it...INTO THE WALL! Another devastating ram! There's no stopping the System Shock today, gentlemen! He's rammed them all! Redemption is stopping Sith's assault though, and promptly delivers Sith to Cassandra in her temporary CPZ. The Greek flipper only catches the edge of Sith with her flipper, but it's enough to send Sith flying, and spinning! Spinning into a 1080 to be precise!! Oh what gymnastics! But Sith doesn't have a chance to enjoy its state of being left alone; Redemption's back under it again and taking it towards System Shock who's pinned Innis against the wall! With a bit of a THUNK, Redemption delivers Sith onto System Shock and actually manages to get underneath System Shock, Sith falling off the other side! Innis finally manages to get away and Tracy smiles as the disc is getting back up to dangerous speeds! Sith gets around System Shock, but misses both it and Redemption as they take a trip into an empty CPZ, System Shock itself now slammed and pinned against the arena corner! Uh oh...the guest house robots are closing in...and so are Sith and Innis! But Tracy, her smile widening and taking a deep turn for the evil side, takes a turn into Sith's side, instead!

          CRASH!!

          And manages to tear open Sith's side even more, sending Sith off of Cassandra and across the flame pit! And...is there life left in Sith? I don't think there is - OHH!!! Sith is on fire!!! You can see through that massive gash left in the side! The electronics and all that - they're aflame! Alex shakes his fist at Tracy, but there's naught he can do now; The Watcher has come over to deliver his eulogy!

          And so we go to 3! Redemption has to let go of Small System Shock as the house robots turn for Sith's carcass instead, and Liam exits the CPZ, targets Tracy, and smacks into her...but the slam is far too powerful this time and Innis flies overtop of System Shock! Redemption is after System Shock, and almost catches it, but it manages to get to Redemption's side and slam it heavily into the arena side wall again! Innis' disc is whirling madly again, and Tracy targets Liam's machine in return. System Shock notices and turns to face Innis, but Innis is way too close for System Shock to get any sort of momentum going!

          CRASH!

          It's only a series of deflecting blows, though, but they do make some lovely sparks and that'll count towards Tracy should this go to the judges' decision, don't forget. However Joey isn't keen on letting this slip that far; Redemption is back on System Shock's case and gets it from the side - oohey, Innis almost caught Redemption there with its disc! Watch out there! And Redemption imitates its wedged opponent slamming it into the arena wall with equal force! Tracy is after System Shock as it falls, Innis' disc smacking against System Shock's side!

          CRASH!!

          But the Hardox really is standing up well, and System Shock remains stationary...it's remaining stationary because I believe that's it! It's not moving and something appears to have happened inside! Redemption...pushes it onto the...pit, or it would have but it overshot the mark and now it's on the - INNIS HAS OPENED THE PIT, GET OFF THERE REDEMPTION! Ooh...just away! Joey's heart was pounding like a piston there, but it seems that System Shock is about to be a goner, and not Redemption! Liam hangs his head as Redemption goes around the pit, and pushes System Shock in to end the fight!

          CEASE!

          Sith gets smitten by the Force, while Small System Shock is shocked by his opponents' systemical teamwork!
          Innis and Redemption advance to Round 2!

            Melissa: How are you going to deail with that ring spinner?

            Melissa: *travelling over to the Coldstorm bench* Your opponent seems confident.
            Samuel: He won't be once I'm done tearing him to shreds!
            Melissa: And how fast do you think it'll take you to rip him to shreds, as you say?
            Samuel: Not long.

            House robots...Dead Metal...and why not? We'll throw in our very own King Leer for the heck of it.

            So, to take the seventh spot, who will it be? Will it be the 13th seed, with those fearsome barbs and even more feared flipper, or Blue Hurricane with that horrible spinning ring already looking mightily deadly; May Tracks looks pensive, it hasn't gotten all the way over to Blue Hurricane in time! Are they perhaps worried about the weaponry, the 32kg spinning ring, spinning at 2000 RPMs looking to munch, crunch, crumple anything it touches? Oh, Blue Hurricane doesn't show any signs of aggressiveness either, it's not moving...but we know it can't be immobilized already. Both are simply waiting for something to happen...then Blue Hurricane makes a move! May Tracks turns to try and ward it away, but Samuel presses into the wedge! And the attack shaves off quite a few of the wedge spikes before burrowing into the main flipper itself!

            CRASH!

            But despite all that spike shaving, the main wedge has taken no damage at all! And now we're on to something as May Tracks pushes Blue Hurricane all the way across the arena like a mad bulldozer scooping mangled metal and dirt, finally finding its way into Dead Metal's CPZ and dumps Blue Hurricane there! The silver scorpion grapples hold of the slippery spinner and sticks its slick sawblade onto the rim of Blue Hurricane - ooooohhhhh! Look at all those sparks. That's Dead Metal's specialty, he loves to show off the sparks made by his cutting blade. But despite that, the sawblade hasn't done really any damage to the Titanium rim! It's about as effective as Blue Hurricane's own hit on May Tracks' flipper! And speaking of which, May Tracks barges in underneath Blue Hurricane, wrenching it somewhat from Dead Metal's grasp, and fires the flipper, sending Blue Hurricane overtop of Dead Metal and far back into the CPZ! May Tracks doesn't pursue it; rather it backs away from Dead Metal, who turns about to grasp Blue Hurricane again, but the spinner's found its correct direction and is away...only to be met by May Tracks from the side, collected onto the wedge, and thrown! However again May Tracks fails with its OOTA attempt, but managing to slide Blue Hurricane off the wall and back into the waiting pincers of Dead Metal! The sawblade sinks in again, but Dead Metal's attempts to cut through it are looking rather futile...seeing this, May Tracks does an about face and makes a gangway for the pit release button. Ironically, the house robot relinquishes its grip on the azure spinner just as May Tracks is about halfway across the arena, and May Tracks, having hit the button already and sent the pit plunging down, turns to spot a whirling dervish at the other end! As quickly as he can, Frank drives May Tracks in a linear path towards Samuel's ring spinner, but Sam manages to drive out of the way in time and May Tracks, trying to powerslide around to face Blue Hurricane, hits the wall sideways! Capitalizing on his opponent's slight driving error, Blue Hurricane veers off to May Tracks' side and tears in!

            CRASH!!!

            Now THAT'S a hit! And one that's twirled May Tracks about like a tornado itself, despite those tracks! The side seems okay though save for two meaty scratches, so Blue Hurricane has to get some more hits in here! And Frank doesn't plan on letting Samuel get any more in! May Tracks recovers from that upsetting affair and finds Blue Hurricane half-spun-up a few feet away and trying to get away in time, but it is inevitable! The May Tracks Has You, Blue Hurricane! It's scooped up onto the floor without even a scratch and is flung into an empty CPZ! Samuel can't even try to get away before May Tracks is on it again, and tries to get it out of the arena once AGAIN! ...AND IT DOES! Finally, Frank has performed his well-earned fling over the fence, and the Canadian spinner's ring unhappily creeps to a halt as May Tracks spins about, firing its flipper in celebrating the end of its OOTA drought!

            CEASE!

            Land ho, Blue Hurricane! Time for you to die down with the rest of the shipwrecks!

              Three full body spinners? Well, Minilith is designed to cope with spinners, so I will use that to my advantage. Just keep box rushing them and be annoying as possible. The armour should be able to deflect any attacks, so just keep ramming.

              The Unnamed Feeling vs. Killoteeny vs. Hazard vs. T-Minus

              Want to team up, Steve? I think I€™ll go for Hazard first. Keep the lifting arm low, get under it and lift it up. If I can flip it over, then do so. If I can€™t, just lifting it slightly might put if off balance and cause itself problems. I€™ll go for T-Minus next, if it€™s still active. Lift it up and push it around, hopefully into the pit.

              UberForce 2.0 vs. The Red Knight vs. Omega-Rex vs. The Judge

              I don€™t have any specific plan for this one. Just push the others around against the walls, into the hazards, into the CPZs, down the pit etc...

                PsycloniZer (15) vs. Panicking Still?

                From Shrewsbury in Shropshire, seeded number 15...PsycloniZer!
                Hardox top and bottom, much thicker Hardox ring...it must be a ring spinner! And indeed it is, invertible, decent drive power and top speed, but the true specialty is indeed that spinning ring. It slams 3 huge hammers into the opponent at 2500RPMs, so watch out for the whirlwind this bout!

                C&B3: Met a rather surprising end when, after being battered about the arena for more than 4 minutes, 6th seeds Killotine: EVO grappled them and dragged them down the pit in their Heat Final.

                Invertible compact box with skirts, tough armour and great drivetrain help it take on anybody! And with lifting forks that work either way up, how can you go wrong? One way is the exposed tires to overhead attacks, another would be reliability issues...so Martyn better not panic!

                PsycloniZer's off...but Panicking Still is off much quicker! It's already tackled the ring spinner before PsycloniZer even had a chance to get up to speed! And that could prove perilous for captain Andrew Jackson, now! In comes the...Panic Attack-inspired machine into Sir Killalot's corner patrol zone...and Killalot's got them by...one of the weapon supports! Panicking Still heads for the pit release button...ooh, out comes Killalot, and spinning...and going into a sort of spin that would make Michael Jackson surprised! Of course, no offense meant there...do believe Sir Killalot used to be a mean disco dancer in his part-time. Whatever the case, PsycloniZer's weapon cage has been bent now and it may effect his ability to - oh my goodness, something came off there...I think it was again part of Sir Killalot! Yes, the breastplate is separated again! Oh dear, our knight in gleaming armour...is gleaming a little less now! MacBeth, you will pay for your damage infliction, sir! Now here comes...Panicking Still again on the attack, having just opened the pit, but no PsycloniZer's away, and is able to spin up! The cage damage seems to superficial, but no! Panicking Still has reached in underneath the hammers with its forks, lessening the half-blow...and stopped it again! Lifting it up, it takes PsycloniZer again to Sir Killalot's CPZ...and thankfully for Panicking, Killalot is moving. And looking deadly! And clamping PsycloniZer's cage again in his jaws of death! Oooooh...that's some nasty frame bending right there...Andy is waiting for Killalot to drop his robot but...out we go for a spin again! Martyn is enjoying this; he loves his disco, he loves his parties, and right now he is in control of this party, Sir Killalot spinning PsycloniZer around - look at that! The cage has been crumpled! One of the hammers is bent lower now! Will that affect their spinning capabilities? And there they go, released from Killalot's clutches and bouncing away...to be collected onto Panicking's forks! Oh dear. Martyn knows he's won this by now...unless some sort of freak accident of course occurs, we HAVE see robots go out at this stage...but it seems very unlikely right now, and PsycloniZer is up against it here! They simply cannot get back into this match, Panicking Still has pushed it across the arena, and Hexadecimal is waiting...unlike Sir Killalot, Hex seem to be repaired a bit better, the blades are spinning...ahh...no, we'll not use the blades today. Panicking Still pushes the 15th seed up onto Hexadecimal, who lifts PsycloniZer up over top of Panicking Still...Martyn backs up, PsycloniZer piggybacking on top of his robot! And Panicking Still flies across the arena, right towards the Disc of Death!

                CRASH!!!

                The stranded PsycloniZer is buffeted by the spinning arena weapon, sporting a small scratch on the ring but nothing more! And off he goes, Panicking Still trying to catch up to it, nearly succeeding but Andy evades the charge...but I think he can do much, look, the weapon cannot gain enough momentum to spin up properly. Martyn has Sir Killalot to thank for that, and now Panicking Still is under the seeded spinner again and throwing it against the arena wall! He's just having some fun, now, Martyn, and Andy is not doing so at all...ahh...under the spinning ring again, lifting it up...and heading straight towards the pit now. A push, a shove, a futile wiggling of suspended wheels and a thrust later and Andy is defeated at the first hurtle for the second time this tournament.

                Really low 180 wedge with a front flipper and powerful pneumatic axe; rear prongs help stabilize it when it uses the axe. Fast, decently powerful, well-armoured in the front, but very hard to control at top speed and the weapon power will run out sooner or later.

                C&B1: Didn't compete.
                C&B2: (as Black Panther Queen) Ripped apart in Round 1 by Infusion.
                C&B3: Again fell at the first hurdle when Wedge Devolution flipped it over the fence.

                From Gainsborough...The 6isc!
                Bar-belled shaped, has a 26kg 2.5cm thick spinning disc in the middle with teeth carved into the disc so they don't break off, attached to a Hardox axle. It's as powerful too but not as fast, and with its awkward 6WD system it will scoff at flippers but be rather tricky to control.

                It's Get The 6isc! time! Or is it? Black Panther, cautious...so sleek, so low to the ground, I'm...well, I'm not exactly sure how the weaponry of The 6isc is going to be a factor here. In comes the Panther, trying to get to 6isc's wheel pod...ooh! Down comes the axe, barely missing said outer pod! Did you see that? It's made a huge dint in the arena floor! The weaponry is powerful on Black Panther, we know that now! The question is...can it be of any use on The 6isc's chassis, armour? Alex is hoping to test this out in the match...but The 6isc is turning so quickly, it has that huge width and turning advantage and Black Panther can't really get a real assault on the wheelpods now. Oh! The 6isc has turned far too much! That's the danger with having more manoeuvrability, trickier control! And Black Panther is after that side wheelpod now, slamming the axe down -

                CRASH!

                OOOHHHH!!! The 6isc's hit Black Panther here! The axe glanced off the wheelpod, turning Black Panther aside, and allowed The 6isc to come in on a side assault! And that has flipped Black Panther over, not really causing any damage but forcing Black Panther to self-right, which it does. So the weaponry isn't quite as small of a factor as we thought! Frank wastes no time and immediately brings in another hit, jolting Black Panther's side a bit more but no causing any more damage and Black Panther's in its face, trying to...push it but it can't gain too much purchase and it drives under The 6isc after a few tedious seconds...then back up under it! The weaponry of the 6isc isn't spinning still and it tries to spin around and shake the cat loose...Black Panther fires the axe, and the shaft hits the 6isc's main axle. Now Black Panther drives forward, and is able to drag the 6isc along with it! They go for a ride into the arena side wall, and both of them slam heavily against it! The 6isc actually bounces away but Black Panther remains stable and turns about, again trying to target those bulbous wheel pods but not having much luck there I'm afraid. A real game of wits here between the two, Alex cannot bring his weaponry properly into play, but at the same Frank's weaponry seems to be completely ineffective! Black Panther is relentless, oh it's trying so hard to get to those pods...and spins about to find itself facing that bludgeoning flywheel!

                CRASH!

                Only a deflecting blow, nothing more! It did hit the flipper but the flipper didn't appear to receive any damage and The 6isc is bounced away again! Black Panther looks to be the aggressor here as it chases the 6isc across the arena, catching it up and finally tackling one of the wheel pods! It brings down the axe and manages to dent one of the housings, but it isn't long before the 6isc manoeuvres out of the way and out of danger! But Black Panther is again after it, and by my reckoning ahead in this fight! The Gainsborough born bar-bell bot swings about, but trying to judge Black Panther's approach turns a little too far, exposing the side wheelpod again! Black Panther slams the axe down and creates another dent in the wheelpod, but can't make another as the 6isc turns violently and nearly whacks Black Panther aside with the other housing as it tries to get its weaponry into play! Black Panther backs off and tries to avoid the weaponry of Frank's creation, turning aside at jet speed and sending the 6isc flying past! Now it goes after the wheelpods yet again, but another swish of the bar-bell from Frank sends the mighty weaponry of The 6isc into Black Panther's...main body. Well, only a series of glancing blows, to be honest! I don't think The 6isc can effectively get a hit on anywhere in the front, it has to attack the sides and most definitely the rear, where it is quite vulnerable! Black Panther, it seems, isn't giving it that vast of a chance and it is quickly lining up its opponent...the panther is teething, it wants its bite felt! The 6isc's weaponry is still spinning, still working very well, but still largely impotent here, and Black Panther flies in again to test that disc!

                CRASH!

                But again it's just not gaining any decent grip on the armour of Black Panther to actually cause too damage - ooh hey, hold onto that thought! There's a rip in the front wedge of Black Panther! It's small, but it's still there, and it must have come from all that grinding! But at any rate, the progress of the 6isc's flywheel is halted and Black Panther can push it by the disc now! And the 6isc is pushing back! And the 6isc has gone overtop of Black Panther again! Alex can't really push the 6isc anywhere, its middle ground clearance is much, much too high to be be pushed around anywhere and the 6isc gets away quickly! Alex is after it once more, but it's really become a game of tag here - a hit, a miss, a hit, a miss, it's been like that almost all match, and Black Panther's slammed into the wheelpod! It's brought the axe down, and struck one of the top wheels! It got in-between the outer and inner housings, and managed to swipe it clean through, and now there's major puncture action! But that wheel currently isn't in action so the 6isc is still okay for now. But how much will it take for the 6isc to win now, should this go to a judges decision? They base the decision on straetgy. On style, control, damage - and aggression! And that's a good attack by Black Panther! Grinding the disc of the 6isc to a halt once again, but is the front wedge itself actually holding up? It appears to be, and now Black Panther is now pushing The 6isc by its weapon again, it's going too fast to be stopped now! It's entered Shunt's CPZ! It's SLAMMED The 6isc right into the house robot! The axe of Shunt comes down but it only strikes the axle and does nothing, but the 6isc is up against it now! They are pegged in the CPZ, Black Panther and Shunt are right in there on either side! Black Panther has it by one of the housings, and is just giving it a brutal beating now with the axe! THWACK THWACK THWACK goes the axe, look at the damage, dents and holes being blasted into it! Shunt isn't having as much luck, striking the body work at a bad angle and after several seconds allows it to go free...and The 6isc's weaponry is at full speed! Shunt ignored it and now Black Panther just might feel it and the 6isc turns about, freed from Shunt and placing itself right into the side of Black Panther!

                CRASH!

                And flips it over immediately! Oh dear!! Black Panther is stuck against the arena side wall, falling down but in a horrible position!! Again with the axe they're right propped up against there, desperately trying to get the axe to right it but it's only pushing them against the arena wall! The 6isc is nearby, this would be a huge upset if Black Panther fell now! They were in control a few seconds ago but Shunt let The 6isc free and that's what happened! The Watcher is coming in! Oh dear! Black Panther is at it again - and finally manages to self-right! But The 6isc is in there with it's own weaponry!

                CRASH!

                Catching it on the side corner and flipping it again! But this time Black Panther has righted itself quickly, taking another little scuff from the 6isc's...disc, before wheeling away! There is definitely damage done to the wedge part of the front...little rips and tears, but that was good aggression by the 6isc, getting in those numerous blows! And there's some padding in behind that wedge, can you see that? In behind those little rip the 6isc put in? That's 3 centimetres of titanium foam there, designed to take recoil damage from its own axe blows, and opponents' weaponry! And it's certainly done a good job here, Black Panther looks to be very mobile, as does the 6isc! Both robots seem on top of their game here, and we've come to blows again, Black Panther charging, The 6isc evading, Black Panther spinning around and chasing after the 6isc! Another evasion from the 6isc, another spin from Black Panther! It's cat and mouse out there, very tactical battle this is. They're near the flame pit, get away from there, that'll melt your mechanics, boys! Oh! Black Panther's caught its flipper on the flame pit! That's never happened before, but it's backed away - phew - before the 6isc could take advantage. That's what'll happen if you have too low of a lifting weapon, you'll catch it on an angle shingle or panel edge, like surrounding the flame pit there! But it won't seem to catch the 6isc, it's still just too quick and too bizarrely shaped to be given any sort of knock-out blow here, and Alex is looking mightily grim here. More dodging, turning...oh! The 6isc has turned too far again! And Black Panther has found its way into the wheelpod that's least damaged! Down comes the axe into it, putting a great slice into it! Oh! They're stuck! And you can see why! Part of the titanium armour that was bent and mulched by the axe has caught itself around the middle of the axe head, and has locked them together! Now this could go either way here, but it looks like Black Panther has the greater advantage in this department and starts dragging it forward across the arena! Oh my...Damocles is up ahead - no, they're free now! And Black Panther's up underneath The 6isc from the wheelpod -

                CRASH!

                And takes a blow to the top part of the wedge for it! Oh dear, that's ripped another little slice into the front, but Black Panther's trying to draaaaaag The 6isc by the other wheelpod...oh! The flipper comes into play here for the first time! It's up and caught between the wheelpods! So that means...that Black Panther has finally got control of the 6isc!

                10...9...8...7...

                But is it too late? Black Panther turns toward the pit release button, and heads towards it, slamming the 6isc into the opener but that releases the 6isc!

                6...5...4...

                Back under his own control now, The 6isc is getting aggressive now, it flies at Black Panther, who meets it head-on!

                CRASH!

                3...2...1...

                Sparks fly, and there's a giant tear in Black Panther's wedge now! OHH!!! Black Panther's pushing towards the pit!!! Can they get it in?!?

                CEASE!

                Ohhhh dear!!! A last minute push sends the 6isc into the pit...a little too late! So it goes to the judges decision!

                  From the United States...Ground Zero!
                  A revered full-bodied spinner that's taken the RFL lightweight title. Has a 7075 aircraft aluminium alloy shell with several attachable titanium teeth (S7 tipped) that run close to the floor, spinning at 1500RPM, and has Dewalts for drive. He's a lot more happening right-side-up, though, that srimech looks iffy.

                  From Glasgow, Scotland...Minigig!
                  Baed on HW brother Whirligig 4.5, it's a 2WD invertible ring spinner with a Hardox ring and Pussycat-style teeth attached and powered by a LEM130. It gets to 1800RPM right quick and can gut quite a few fishes. The drive is powered by 18v drill motors and some NiCads, but it suffers from quite a lack of control.

                  From Geddinton...Tiny Tengu
                  Scaled down version of Tengu VI. Has an anti-spinner ring to combat other horizontal spinners. The 3mm titanium shell spins at 1000rpm and can strike fear into the opponents' hearts as well as damage with the 2 2.5kg blades. It ain't a pusher though and the 24v windscreen wiper motors won't help that, but it can self-right if flipped.

                  From Shrewsbury in Shropshire...Minilith!
                  Against all these spinners is...a rammer. Oh well. It has 4mm Hardox monocoque as protection. Basically an angled box shape with an extension on its front wedge to get under bots and shove them around. 4WD, 2 24v S28-150 MagMotors and 3600mAh NiCad packs help with this. It's very small though, especially in comparison with Minigig.

                  House robots: Are guests! This time, we throw in a middleweight and heavyweight as Solstice 3.0 and Seung Mina VI play the housie roles here.

                  And the fastest start is indeed directly from Minilith! It's headed straight for Ground Zero! The #1-ranked American lightweight tries spinning up as fast as it can, but Minilith's already there! There's no crash as Ground Zero can't even get anything going, and an arena-long ram from Minilith sends Ground Zero flying into an empty and bouncing away like a pinball! Minigig and Tiny Tengu are spinning now, and they've already gotten to full speed, but Minilith sees Tiny Tengu as its next target and slams into it next, despite the 2.5kg blades having reached full speed!

                  CRASH!!

                  However, it makes little-to-no mark on the 4mm monocoque and Minilith takes the opportunity to get under it and deliver it to Solstice's CPZ! But Solstice shouldn't be too pleased! As they collide with the MW-turned-housebot, Solstice has done massive damage from that hit, but only to the anti-spinner ring! Rubber has been ripped right out of it and flacks of it jut out from the gash! Apparently the hit was so great that it wasn't able to turn the anti-spinning ring on contact, but just went through like a hot knife through butter! Now Minilith backs off to attack Minigig, but Ground Zero is back and spinning up quickly! Minigig moves aside from a deadly ram from Minilith as Tiny Tengu gets away from Solstice, looking slightly battered. Minilith goes after the pit release button and finds it; he nails it, and whoa...Minigig get away! Steve avoids the pit nearby as all three spinners are trying to close Minilith in! I had a feeling it might go that way right from the start...but Andy sees his chance! Quickly he rams into Minigig! The hit itself is not too big, and Minilith pushes it towards Ground Zero who looks to be the fiercer spinner in this contest! Samuel tries steering away but even with a 27kg ring spinner on his front Minilith is still able to catch up and bring Steve's robot into oblivion!

                  CRASH!!!

                  Ground Zero nails Minigig's ring and sends both of them flying, Minigig quite far! It lands near Seung Mina's CPZ, but Mina doesn't do anything yet. On top of that, Minigig seems to have taken the hit rather well. Minilith is rather focused on trying to get Ground Zero down the pit, but he can't turn and drive Ground Zero to pit, Ground Zero seems to slide off every time Minilith turns! Sensing an opportunity, the now-fully-spinning Tiny Tengu makes another appearance by surprise-attacking Minilith from the rear!

                  CRASH!!

                  The blow sends Minilith flying out from under Ground Zero, and Alex looks smug, feeling rather avenged for that trip to the CPZ, but back across the arena rampages a rather outraged Minilith! WHAM!! It slams into Tiny Tengu and sends it across the arena, actually bouncing it off the front rather than carrying it! Alex hurriedly stops the spinner as Tiny Tengu starts to become unstable, and it falls flat. Ground Zero is spun back up, though, and as Minilith is distracted, it slams into Minilith's side!

                  CRASH!!!

                  Minilith is sent flying again, but this time there's noticeable damage! A small dent and larger scratch have appeared on the side of Minilith as it tries to get his bearings back. Before he can even react, however, Minigig gives him a 'hello' slam!

                  CRASH!

                  However it's not nearly as effective as Ground Zero's hit and Minilith is relatively unharmed. It slides under Minigig and shoves it straight towards Ground Zero again! But Ground Zero manages to evade it this time, and Tiny Tengu pops in for a hit...but he hits Minigig by accident!

                  CRASH!!

                  The ring of Minigig seems fine and dandy but Tiny Tengu is now open for attack and Minilith attacks! He gets under the spinner and finally is in line with the pit! With all his power Minilith zooms over. Alex does all he can do to try and get off the wedge; he even tries firing the srimech a few times, but the bottom line is final; Tiny Tengu meets the bottom of the pit! Now, with 3 robots remaining and 1 to go, this battle's just gotten started! Minilith attacks Minigig again but Ground Zero gets in the way; Andy quickly swerves to avoid it but Minigig beans him from the side!

                  CRASH!

                  It's more effective than the other hits Minigig has dished out, but only just. There's another scratch on the side of Minilith but other than that he's finde and dandy. He gets in Minigig's face again, almost literally as the Mauler-esque face on the top continues to glare at the audience! Steve is unable to spin up again and Minilith wedges it! Ground Zero sees the plan already and moves away to hover near the pit as Minilith approaches...what's this?! Minigig is spinning on the wedge! Steve seems as surprised as Andy does, but unlike Andy he doesn't know what to do! Andy however knows exactly what he's going to do, and knowing that he can't go around the pit like that he resignedly dumps Minigig down the pit.

                  CEASE!

                  Tiny Tengu was about as effective as a small butter knife, while Minigig goes giggity giggity giggity! all the way home!

                    PsycloniZer vs. Black Panther

                    At 22mph, Black Panther is very quick. Possibly too quick for its own good, and I'm going to try and take advantage of this. My aim is to get round the back of Black Panther, where it is unprotected. If Black Panther rushes at PsycloniZer, hopefully I'll deflect off the front end. This will give me the chance to attack again. I also want to attack it head on, as I think the lifter at the front can be damaged and immobilised. The axe doesn't concern me much, that is what the bars are for - to stops axes from getting good attacks on the main body. Even if it does get a hit or two in, the Hardox lid should prevent much damage. Keep attacking the front and hopefully both robots will bounce off each other. I'm not going to damage the front end, but attacking it can lead to opportunities to attack the rear and/or internal shock damage.

                    Don't worry, I don't know what I'm going on about either. Good luck, Alex!

                      And in a flurry of movement they're both off; Black Panther with the ramming and PsycloniZer with the spinning! Unfortunately for Alex the spinning works quicker and Black Panther ends up eating a face full of spinning hammer!

                      CRASH!!

                      And 3 seconds into the fight we have experienced our first huge hit of the match, as the 15th seed flies starkers back across the arena, while Black Panther's been left without its 5mm polycarb panel on the front of its flipper, but the 7mm titanium underneath seems to be okay. As such, PsycloniZer has slowed down to a speed where the next buffet hardly fazes the Mechanical Noise runner-up and taking advantage of the stoppage, Black Panther meets the spinning ring directly and the fearsome axe strikes down directly on top of PsycloniZer's top armour! It doesn't do too much otherwise than mark up the lovely paintjob on PsycloniZer, but it is able to wedge the seeded machine, therefore taking all its traction off the ground, and thrust it across the arena towards Shunt's CPZ! Unfortunately for Shunt, the house robot eats some hammer too, directly into the scoop. Black Panther fires the axe but this time it's repelled by the cage. Shunt's axe comes down and hits PsycloniZer several times, but it's really looking ineffective; poor old Shunt! Black Panther backs up a bit, to try and get some leverage, but this causes PsycloniZer to escape off the side of Black Panther! As Andy gets away to spin up that ring, Alex is in hot pursuit, but a quick dodge from PsycloniZer and Black Panther ends up flying past, for lack of control. With a gleeful grin Andy attacks the rear of Black Panther!

                      CRASH!!!

                      Dear oh dear, that HDPE's not looking too good after such a cheap shot! Attacking while his back is turned?! How dare you Andy! Oh, but I love it! The same hit has spun Black Panther about like a frisbee, and allowed PsycloniZer free spin-up time, which it almost immediately achieves! When Black Panther ceases its uncontrolled rotation, it's almost literally face-to-face with a fully-spinning PsycloniZer, and the crowd roars, knowing they're in for a treat! There's naught Alex can do but charge it right down! PsycloniZer tries to get out of the way but this time Black Panther's superior speed proves telling!

                      CRASH!

                      It's largely a deflection but it still leaves a scratch on the 7mm titanium as PsycloniZer is flung back overtop of Black Panther, who immediately spins about, but overturns quite a bit due to the rather poor control. However he still makes a getaway; PsycloniZer was still spinning but is now unable to catch Black Panther's rear end. Black Panther scoots across the arena, looking for a place to commence an extreme running start, but PsycloniZer isn't giving him any room to do so! Foreseeing the inevitable, Alex turns Black Panther around to face his nemesis and finds the spinner mere feet away! One ram later...

                      CRASH!!!

                      It's another hit directly on the flipper, and the 7mm titanium's bent in a bit, as both robots go flying. PsycloniZer is flung more terminally and crashes bizarrely onto one of his hammers and then inverted. Black Panther is spun about again, but takes advantage as he did before and slams into the hammers quickly, going past them and into the main cylinder before bringing the axe down. This time, he gets in some multiple hits and PsycloniZer's Hardox armour atop is dented slightly. The fight's once more turned on its head as the MN1 runner-up brings the MN1 champ to Sgt. Bash's CPZ; the drilled sergeant clamps down on one of the bars on the cage...but is unable to snap it...or even deform it slightly?! Well then...what happened last fight? Was there...some sort of situation we weren't informed about? We weren't told anything. But in all honesty I could not have seen this coming after seeing Sir Killalot bend the framework as if it were cardboard! Perhaps Sgt. Bash forgot to take his vitamins, he does have loads of them in the pits you know. Black Panther might need them too because that axe isn't doing much more than the dent it caused previously. That's about 8 hits from the axe there...and finally PsycloniZer is away, Bash has released him and he's escaped off the side of Black Panther...and already getting up to a dangerous speed! Black Panther is fast to attack but PsycloniZer has its say!

                      CRASH!!!

                      The flipper now truly is dented up, but not so much that it should hinder its effectiveness...PsycloniZer's flung back again but so is Black Panther...PsycloniZer can't spin back up! It takes very little time for the cage, of sorts, to get back up to speed, but it is clearly not working anymore! To say Andy isn't happy about this would be an understatement of the highest proportions...now he guns for the pit release button in desperation! That might well fully help Black Panther in its duty, as he does hit it and the pit descends! Black Panther crashes into it again and gets right to the cylinder like before, and starts smacking away again! It's on a different angle of PsycloniZer, so now a small dent begins to appear, growing bigger with each hit where the axe comes down! Unfortunately PsycloniZer starts to push back, having a rather equal drive to Black Panther, so he ends up getting wedged, but falls off the side of Black Panther and across, past the saws, near the pit but past it and into the middle of the arena...and it's spinning!! Only a temporary problem, it seemed! A shellshocked Alex Holt blasts Black Panther across the arena to ram into PsycloniZer, but the clever spinner dodges aside again and Black Panther's tricky control makes it go a bit too far...plenty of space for the 15th seed to get in another devastating shot!

                      CRASH!!!

                      The previously carved up HDPE is warped further, but there's no breach because it's too thick. It has still sent Black Panther flying about and again given PsycloniZer ample opportunity to whirl its cage back up, and it does just that as Black Panther recovers quicker than last time and guns it towards his spinning fiend! He's coming in to quick for any evasive tactics, and PsycloniZer comes right at him in response!

                      CRASH!!!

                      Ouch! A very minor deflected blow to the front leading to a huge blow on the 'sails' that protect the axe mechanism and PsycloniZer's gone mental, looking rather unstable as it tries to slow down enough to get stable...but that's not needed for another assault by Black Panther! Alex makes a rough challenge and shunts PsycloniZer; PsycloniZer tries to turn past Black Panther and away from his side, but Black Panther keeps on him and eventually reaches the actual cylinder part of PsycloniZer again, wedging it and smacking it with the axe, grappling it! Now the plain objective is in sight, as Black Panther turns its attention towards the pit! Andy can only watch as PsycloniZer, devoid of any escape, is quickly thrusted across the arena and deposited in the pit after a well fought back-and-forth fight!

                      CEASE!

                      PsycloniZer wasn't a pushover by any means, but having 'Psy' in its name the 15th seed really should have seen this coming.

                          Psyclonizer is OUT???? Now I've seen everything. :shock:

                          I think this entirely depends on what setup Tornado will be using. If it's the scoop, then Tornado will win. Other than that, GBOD will prevail.

                            Now then, we were halfway through the heats, weren't we? Well we'll bypass that, by the end of this.

                            Tornado (16) vs. GBOD

                            From Sawtry in Cambridgeshire, seeded number 16...Tornado!
                            Very experienced machine, invertible box on a 4 wheel drive system with 7 peak horsepower and 10mph top speeds, titanium and polycarbonate armour and chassis, and the interchangeable weaponry; this one can easily blow all the others away.

                            C&B1: Didn't compete.
                            C&B2: Taken out in the 2nd round by champion Salamander III.
                            C&B3: Went a step further and Under Pressure halted its progress with a third straight pitting.

                            From Hoogvliet, Holland...Giant Bell of Death!
                            Otherwise known as GBOD! As much power as Tornado in a Hardox FBS package, spinning at 2000rpm and sure to cause pain. The srimech is the form of a pole atop the shell but it is a bit unreliable, and pushing contests aren't its forte.

                            Tornado will be going with the usual wedge set-up today.

                            Mr. Psycho. His mission: destruction. Shunt. His mission: quite the same, thank you very much.

                            So starts the second half of the Crash & Burn 4 heats! GBOD is spinning, and like many spinners we've seen so far in this series it has achieved a dangerous spinning speed right quick! And just about the same can be said for Tornado's drivetrain, it may be getting a maximum speed of 10mph but its acceleration is unprecedented, straight away across the arena! Leo van Miert's driving could very well have zero precedent as well, however! His machine has dodged out of the way of that frontal assault and is really revving up that shell! But will it find anything else than the front of Tornado, as the seeded machine whips about to face it? That's the one thing, you NEVER see the rear end of Tornado in a fight, at least not yet. And the front end is being seen, closer and closer as Tornado bears down upon GBOD and no agility or acceleration can save GBOD from it!

                            CRASH!!!

                            Which means we have our first epic collision of the match, ladies and gentlemen! And wouldn't you know it, there's hardly a nick on that damned Tornado wedge! There have been sparks aplenty, I must say, and GBOD finds itself against the wall after flinging itself off the wedge and away across the arena! Tornado is quick to capitalize and the highly and rightly feared rambot meets its opponent wedge to shell, crunching it further onto the wall and away along on it. No time is wasted in the assault as Tornado deposits GBOD off the wall into Shunt's CPZ, but the mighty bulldozing house robot is baffled to find its blow ineffective as the axe merely bounces off GBOD's shell without a mark! As if that wasn't enough, the cheeky Tornado boys further smush GBOD into the scoop of Shunt, and Shunt has a faceful of FBS! This doesn't exactly thrill our resident scooper, as Shunt utilizes his own power to thrust GBOD away and, to the consternation of Tornado, out of danger! Tornado's quick after it though, and Leo doesn't have long to spin up the shell before Tornado comes flying in again with another ram to the bodywork of GBOD, the slightly revved shell only serving to bounce GBOD away slightly! That's all the Robot Wars Series 6 champ needs to fly up to it and, to put it bluntly, completely under it! GBOD tries to drive off, but can't seem to find its way off before Tornado connects with its next target: the pit release button! The self-righting pole is the only thing that keeps GBOD upright as it nails the wall itself and bounces back. But that means it has virtually no time to rev the shell up again as Tornado crunches it against the wall! However, Tornado can't seem to get a hold on it this time, as it's rammed the spinner perpendicular to the wall and can't turn within contact of GBOD due to friction involved. Tornado thus backs off, and immediately Leo gets the shell spinning up; Team RCC are revving now! Tornado isn't that impressed and comes within range of the spinning shell...to find GBOD has merely sidestepped it like a matador! Quickly Leo capitalizes!

                            CRASH!!!

                            And that...has wholly torn the polycarbonate siding away, revealing the framework beneath...on top of whizzing Tornado away like a frisbee! Desperately Tornado tries to regain the control it had leading up to seconds before that damaging blast, and in the thick of things, GBOD has whipped up its shell to hurricane-force winds! Satisfied that its drivetrain hasn't been compromised by the recent buffeting, Tornado braves the suddenly fiercer storm!

                            CRASH!!!

                            Blimey, that sound nearly raised the roof, it did! But Leo's evasion tactic fails this time as the front scoop catches the whole of the collision and deflects it away, flinging GBOD away like a ping pong ball! Quickly after it, Tornado slides underneath and delivers GBOD to Mr. Psycho's CPZ, the pit too far away. They call him Psycho, but there's nothing really chaotic about the blow dealt to the exterior of GBOD; it just bounces off as easily as Shunt's axe did! Instead of going for a second hammer blow, Mr. Psycho lowers the dreaded claw! GBOD can't move anywhere to avoid it, the hellish Tornado back on top of its game as it's underneath GBOD, and seconds later Leo's spinner is dangling from the claw like a Christmas ornament, and a very distasteful one at that, Mr. Psycho thinks! Over to the flame pit we go! Tornado's nearby, not wanting to miss any of the entertainment, as GBOD is hung over the licking flames, seemingly more of an overly grown roasting chestnut than an ornament now! The Watcher seems to think that happy time is over now and bumps Mr. Psycho to get his message across. A sulking Mr. Psycho relinquishes its grip on GBOD who comes crashing down onto its side. And it ain't spinning! And it ain't moving! And it ain't gonna get prettier, either, as Tornado moves in for the kill! If it could still spin whether in 5, 10, 30 seconds, it can't now, as Tornado shoves it over to the pit and deposits it for the win!

                            CEASE!

                            GBOD lives up to its acronym namesake. Good battle on death(row), though, Leo. :wink:

                              with or without you will spin up, have the spinning half protected for as long as possible, and have the spinner come in when spun up...

                                Magnitude will flip either half out of the arena at the earliest opportunity, using its gadgets and its flipper...
