  • Re: How could I Improve pt 2

And on a lighter note, how's about helping me refurbish an old personal favorite? Luckily, I have done a bit of refurbishing already. I'm gonna rename it, and I could use help fixing it...

    Unnamed For Now
    Weight: 110kg
Shape: All Torque (Series 2) with a wedge at the front.
Colour: Chrome with 3 stripes: one red, one white, and one blue running down the middle.
    Dimensions: 90cm x 70cm x 20cm
Drive: 4 24v S28-400 Magmotors, powered by 5x NiCad Battlepacks
    Locomotion: 2 70cm x 10cm x 10cm titanium tank tracks.
    Armour: 6.5mm titanium/vanadium alloy
    Speed: 15mph
Ground Clearance: 0mm at the front due to wedge shape, and 5mm everywhere else.
    Turning Circle: 0mm
Weapons: A 1000psi rear-hinged flipper with 30 flips mounted on the front, powered by a 2.2kg nitrogen tank.
    Srimech: The flipper
    Strength: Resilient
    Weakness: Tracks Controversy
Bio: This robot was previously a newcomer in both Robot SMASH and AJWars. While it performed lacklusterly both times(being beaten by Liar 2 and Infusion respectively), I have decided to be possibly stupid and revive it, mostly due to me not properly exploiting the tracks weight advantage. I have made some modifications to it already. If you need to know, this robot was formerly Cyrilium 2.

This is Cyrilium 2. Only the original Cyrilium had that fictional armour, and it the stats of it I've found and kept, I replaced the Cyrilium with Titanium.

          Unnamed For Now

          1) I really don€™t have any idea what All Torque looks like. Once again, please provide a picture or a video of it. Better still - describe its shape like most other people manage to.

          2) There might be an issue with running two motors on each track. Not sure about that one, but I€™m sure our resident track expert will know.

          3) Your tracks are Titanium, fine. But how do you intend to grip the arena floor?

          4) 30 flips are mounted on the front? €¦Sorry

          5) How did you find the amount of flips you can produce? As you may have heard, Nitrogen €œpowers down€ quicker than CO2. I don€™t think you would get that many decent flips from a canister that size. Are you looking for a really powerful flipper that aims to get the job done quickly? Or something that rolls opponents over and lasts through a battle? In both of these cases, it might be better to switch to CO2.

          6) It might help the above if you could state some ram sizes.

          7) Does the flipper self-right you from every possible angle? What if you get stuck on your side?

I thought this vapourbot was quite good actually. I€™m glad you€™ve decided to bring it back. Don€™t take losing to Liar 2 and Infusion too badly - they are two very good robots. My only worry is that you seem to be producing quite a lot of vapourbots at the moment. How many do you currently have that you want to enter into a tournament?

          • Re: How could I Improve pt 2

So far, I have 11 bots(12 if you include this one). I'm actually trying to go for 16, because then I can mix it up a lot more in any Major line-ups. But for now, having 12 will suffice. I've also decided to name my old bot American Oil.

            American Oil (Testing)
            Weight: 110kg
Shape: All Torque (S2), which is a long box with a wedge on either side. However, the wedge at the front is extended all the way to the ground. The sides are also slanted 10 degrees inward, like a wedge, to prevent stranding.
Colour: Chrome with 3 stripes: one red, one white, and one blue running down the middle. The sides are black.
            Dimensions: 90cm x 70cm x 20cm
Drive: 4 24v S28-400 Magmotors, powered by 6x NiCad Battlepacks.
            Locomotion: 2 70cm x 10cm x 10cm rubber tank tracks.
            Armour: 6.5mm titanium/vanadium alloy
            Speed: 17mph
Ground Clearance: 0mm at the front due to extended wedge, and at the sides and back due to torsion-sprung 5mm titanium skirts. The springs are wrapped around a foam rod to prevent shock damage. Under the skirts, there is 5mm of ground clearance.
            Turning Circle: 0mm
Weapons: A 1000psi rear-hinged flipper with 20 flips mounted on the front, powered by a 2.5kg Co2 tank. The robot uses an 80mm bore 500mm stroke hydraulic ram to counter for the increased pressure.
Srimech: The flipper. Luckily, the slightly modified All Torque shape prevents it from being stranded on its side.
Strength: Tough, uses the 10kg track advantage wisely.
If you need to know, this robot was formerly Cyrilium 2.

And for the bots I do have that are active:

            Side Swipe 2.1
            El Camino
            Minesweeper 1.1
            Interstate
            Armoury
            Darkwing 1.1
            Me Name Is Death
            Wishbone 2
            Killophobic
            Bandwagon
            Tanked Up

Yes, I know it's a lot, and I know that most majors consist of people entering only 8, but Interstate, Side Swipe 2.1, and Armoury are all outdated. Therefore, I'm making new robots to replace them. Yes I would like to enter 8, and I think it might be a good idea to open up another Major AJWars(since forum activity is at an all time low, and stuff like EOTR 5, FFW5, and others are unfinished), due to the possibility of many entrants.

Simply, my problem is the reverse of the Germans at the end of WWII: They had planes, but no fuel to put in them, whereas I have bots, but no tournies to enter them into.

            • Re: How could I Improve pt 2

After having a talk with my friend Javier, he's decided to join the FanFic world. One hitch: His mom says he cannot get an account. And due to my extreme friendship, I have decided to give hm some updated versions of my bots for his team: Team Camba:

              Dalmatian (Formerly Roveress Evo)
              Weight: 100kg
Shape: Storm II, with Growler's upper jaw above the front wedge. The top of the robot slowly rises like a wedge to stop at the back of the Growler head.
              Colour: White with black spots.
              Dimensions: 90cm x 70cm x 25cm
Drive: 4x 24v S28-400 Magmotors, powered by 6x NiCad Battlepacks.
              Locomotion: 4 foam filled wheels.
              Armour: 5.5mm Titanium/Vanadium alloy.
              Speed: 20mph
Ground Clearance: 0mm at front due to wedge, and at sides and back due to 4mm titanium skirts. 5mm at sides and back without skirts.
              Turning Circle: 0m
Weapon: The front wedge has Mute-style barbs on it. Once a robot is stuck on the wedge, the Jaw, powered by a 2.5kg 750psi Co2 tank, comes down with about 2.5 tonnes of force. The weapon is designed to grab, not to crush.
Srimech: A pneumatic front-hinged lifting arm, built into wedged top of the robot, powered by a 1.5kg 750psi Co2 tank.
              Strengths: Powerful motors, revised srimech.
Weaknesses: Average armor, and limited Co2 for the srimech.
Bio: After my agreement with Javier, I said I would give him some of my old designs. The first one was Roveress Evo, who was mostly overhauled and became Dalmatian.

              Spanikophobia (Formerly Bubble Blaster)
              Weight: 100kg
Shape: Firestorm. The crusher is at the far rear of the robot.
Colour: Tan. The Crusher is silver, as usual.
              Dimensions: 80cm x 60cm x 30cm
Drive: 2x 24v S28-400 Magmotors, powered by 5x NiCad Battlepacks.
Locomotion: 2 solid Vulkanized rubber wheels.
              Armour: 6mm Titanium/Vanadium alloy
              Speed: 15mph
Ground Clearance: 0mm at front due to wedge, and at sides and back due to 4mm titanium skirts. 5mm without skirts.
              Turning Circle: 0m
Weapon: A rather unusual crusher. Instead of the shape being sharp, the shape is flat, wide, and blunt, very much like Leo Van Miert's Holepunch. Using a Vivoil pump powered by a 24v S28-400 Magmotor, it can come down with over 7 tonnes of force.
Srimech: The robot's shape causes it to roll onto the back/top of the crusher, which then retracts back and flips the robot right way up again.
Strengths: Tough armour. The crusher can help it dominate the match. Also very maneuverable.
Weaknesses: Slow self-righting and low top speeds.
Bio: Also a robot made for Javier, Bubble Blaster was totally overhauled with a new shape. The only thing even remotely familiar is the differently shaped crusher.

              Spambot (Formerly TVW)
              Weight: 100kg
              Shape: Storm II
Colour: White, with Spambot written on top in black.
              Dimensions: 85cm x 60cm x 20cm
Drive: 4x 24v S28-400 Magmotors, powered by 6x NiCad Battlepacks.
Locomotion: 4 internally mounted solid rubber wheels.
Armour: The skirts are 4mm titanium, while the body armour is 5.5mm titanium/vanadium alloy.
              Speed: 20mph
Ground Clearance: 0mm all around due to skirts, and 5mm without.
              Turning Circle: 0m
Weapon: A Hydra-shaped axe, powered by 4x 1kg Co2 tanks feeding Co2 to a 80mm bore 600mm stroke ram, which gives it over 750kgs of force. It has the ability to puncture 4mm titanium, and dent 6mm titanium.
Srimech: Due to the power of the axe, the robot can easily self-right.
Strengths: Fast axe to do a lot of damage in a short amount of time.
Weaknesses: Not tough enough to withstand a beating from a powerful spinner.
Bio: TVW was revised for Team Camba with a modified axe, slightly tougher armor, and a new, yet still original, name.

              Tenderizer's Revenge
              Weight: 100kg
Shape: Wedge of Doom (Battlebots series 4.0)
              Colour: Black.
              Dimensions:90cm x 70cm x 20cm
Drive: 6x S28-150 magmotrs, powered by 6x NiCad Battlepacks.
Locomotion: 6 externally solid rubber wheels with aluminum boron carbide hubs.
Armour: 5mm titanium, except the front wedge which is 8mm titanium,
              Speed: 25mph
Ground Clearance: 0mm at front, and 5mm at sides and back.
              Turning Circle: 0m
Weapons: A powerful axe, with a 3kg meat tenderizer for an axehead. The tenderizer's blades are diamond tipped, and it can hit an opponent and do damage when the axe springs back to its rested position. The axe itself is powered by a 2.2kg 750psi Co2 tank feeding gas to a 70mm bore 600mm stroke ram.
Srimech: The axe self-rights the robot. If itt gets stuck on its side, repeatedly firing the axe with cause it to land on its back or right way up.
Strengths: Powerful axe. Also very maneuverable.
Weaknesses: Exposed wheels and average armor.
Bio: The sequel to Tenderizer, Tenderizer's Revenge is a modification of the old Hell's Teeth-shaped design. The axe is still there tough, and it has been given to Javier and Team Camba.

I'll post more... When I feel like it...

Just got time for a quick comment.

I hate to disappoint you and/or your friend, Mark€¦ but I don€™t think your friend will be allowed to enter tournaments here until he gets an account of his own. You will suspected of cloning. That would be the case in my tournaments anyway, and I think I€™m speaking for the majority of others here too. Sorry.

                  I get it...

But then again, he never really wanted those robots at all... He said, Sure, but you can use them, since I don't care. He doesn't really care that much about those bots.

Anyways, are there any problems with those bots, including American Oil?

And now, a rather interesting machine... Negativity!!!

                    Negativity
                    Weight: 100kg
Shape: Right out of Robot Wars: Arenas of Destruction. A Flat Disc.
Colour: Dark blue, with silver lightning bolts on the top.
                    Dimensions: 70cm x 70cm x 15cm
Drive: 4 24v S28-150 Magmotors, powered by 6x NiCad Battlepacks.
Locomotion: 4 solid Vulkanized rubber wheels.
                    Armour: 7mm titanium/vanadium alloy monocoque
                    Speed: 18mph
                    Ground Clearance: 5mm all around.
                    Turning Circle: 0m
Weapon: The weapon is a 130cm-in-length 20kg Hardox spinning bar that spins at 1300RPM, powered by two 36v LEM170 motors. The bar is spun up to full speed in 3 seconds, but will cause damage in 1 second. The blade is mounted on top of the robot.
Srimech: The spinning weapon will self-right the robot if it manages to flip itself via a reverse mauler dance preformed numerous times by Tornado Mer and Killer Byte.
Strengths: Dangerous blade and tough armor.
Weaknesses: Not fast enough to chase most new robots.
Bio: This robot was designed after the retiring of my previous spinning blade robot Ninjoid Evo. The silver lightning bolts are a tribute to Team Lightning.

                    • Re: How could I Improve pt 2

And my first ever Superheavyweight: Tetris!!!

                      Tetris (IS A 2-PART CLUSTERBOT!!!)
Weight: 200kg combined, 100kg for each part.
Shape: (Each Part) Tornado (S7) with a scoop at the front.
Colour: One is pink, the other is green. The pink one has PART 1 written on it in black, while the green one has PART 2 written on it in white.
                      Dimensions: (Each Part) 90cm x 60cm x 20cm
Drive: (Each Part) 4 24v S28-400 Magmotors, powered by 6x NiCad Battlepacks.
Locomotion: (Each Part) 4 small Biohazard style rubber wheels.
                      Armour: (Each Part) 3.25mm hardox
                      Speed: (Each Part) 20mph
Ground Clearance: (Each Part) 0mm at front due to solid Hardox scoop, 5mm at ides and back.
                      Turning Circle: (Each Part) 0m
Weapons: (Each Part) a 20kg horizontal spinning disc in the scoop, powered by an LEM170 at 36v. The disc spins at 2000rpm, and is equipped with 8 0.5kg hardox teeth. The idea is, both robots will charge in at an opponent, and their discs will hit in a relatively straight line, which means that the middle of one bot's disc is lined up with the middle of the other one's disc. Newton's law states that for every force there is an equal and opposite reaction. The clusters' discs' inertial energy should collide in the center of the target, producing a powerful and violent physical reaction since they counteract eachother, thereby causing severe physical and shock damage to robots even if they have massive amounts of shockproofing.
                      Srimech: Both parts are invertible.
Strengths: Clusterbot, should be able to tear opponents twice as big up due to Newton's Law.
Weaknesses: A good flip and they should end up in Canada.
Bio: I've had this idea for some time now. If 2 discs hit a target in a near straight line, the resulting counteraction of forces should be enough to cause an inertial failure in the opposing target, causing massive physical and shock damage. Now I've finally built the robot to test my theory. Even if it doesn't work, it should still do quite a bit of physical damage.

There's quite a lot wrong with that...for starters superheavyweights generally weigh 154kg, and I'm not even going to go into the extremely ropey (and, I am reliably informed, utterly incorrect) physics of the 'weaponry' :P

superheavyweights usually weigh 150 kg mark, and am I right in thinking the 2 discs are meant to rip an opponent apart by hitting it in different rotational dimension? the physics you used to explain it are... complex at best, perhaps you can write it down in a more understandable way

                            How about now?

                            Tetris (IS A 2-PART CLUSTERBOT!!!)
Weight: 150kg combined, 75kg for each part.
Shape: (Each Part) Tornado (S7) with a scoop at the front.
Colour: One is pink, the other is green. The pink one has PART 1 written on it in black, while the green one has PART 2 written on it in white.
                            Dimensions: (Each Part) 75cm x 55cm x 15cm
Drive: (Each Part) 4 24v S28-150 Magmotors, powered by 5x NiCad Battlepacks.
Locomotion: (Each Part) 4 small Biohazard style rubber wheels.
                            Armour: (Each Part) 5mm Titanium
                            Speed: (Each Part) 15mph
Ground Clearance: (Each Part) 0mm at front due to solid Hardox scoop, 5mm at sides and back.
                            Turning Circle: (Each Part) 0m
Weapons: (Each Part) a 10kg horizontal clockwise-spinning disc in the scoop, powered by an LEM170 at 36v. The disc spins at 2000rpm, and is equipped with 8 0.5kg hardox teeth. To simply explain the physics: Both robot hit the opponent with their clockwise-spinning discs, the force of the hits combine in the middle of the target, and the counteraction of the forces causes serious shock damage to the target
                            Srimech: Both parts are invertible.
Strengths: Clusterbot, should be able to tear opponents twice as big up due to Newton's Law.
Weaknesses: A good flip and they should end up in Canada. Plus, if they're not aimed precisely, they could go flying across the arena.
Bio: I've had this idea for some time now. If 2 discs hit a target in a near straight line, the resulting counteraction of forces(Existing due to Newton's Law) should be enough to cause a small shockwave of counteracting forces in the opposing target, causing massive physical and shock damage. Now I've finally built the robot to test my theory. Even if it doesn't work, it should still do quite a bit of physical damage with the discs.

                              • Re: How could I Improve pt 2

And here's a battle to see how good/bad I am:

THE REVISED ROBOT WARS SERIES 1 FINAL:

Beast of Bodmin vs Pussycat vs Cassius II vs Chaos 2 vs S.H.A.R.O.N vs Griffon

Now, let's look at the robots to see how much different they are from Series 1:

Beast of Bodmin: Originally Roadblock, this robot was the winner last time around. With a new body shape and front lifting tusk, with the Beast rule again?

Pussycat: Originally Bodyhammer, it was the only other robot besides Roadblock to still be alive at the end. It lost the judges' decision, though. With its deadly cutting disc and full scale invertibility, with the cat keep its 9 lives?

Cassius II: Formerly Recyclopse and Cassius, they broke a drive chain in the final, and then lost the final the next year. With the anti-pit spike and ferocious flipper, Cassius II may finally win.

Chaos 2: Formerly Robot the Bruce and Chaos, they were stuck on their side in the final, and lost to Mace in the heat final next year. with the flipper that has flipped countless opponents OOTA, will Chaos win again?

S.H.A.R.O.N: Formerly T.R.A.C.I.E, they got wedged onto Cunning Plan previously, skipped Series 2, and didn't manage to qualify for Series 3. While the shape is the same, the weapons are 3 spikes on each side, and a drill at the rear. This time, will S.H.A.R.O.N bloom?

Griffon: Formerly Cunning Plan, they were stuck under T.R.A.C.I.E in the grand final, and next year went out in the gauntlet. However, it did win the Internet Insurrection grudge match. Will Griffon regain glory again?

                                3..2..1..Activate!!!

And in comes Chaos 2, immediately going after Griffon. Cassius just staying out of trouble, and the Beast of Bodmin going after Pussycat. S.H.A.R.O.N is now ramming Griffon with the rear end, as Cassius comes in with a little flip on Pussycat. That won't do anything, Rex. Pussycat's invertible. Griffon now tries to lift S.H.A.R.O.N, as Chaos 2 and the Beast of Bodmin have a little tussle, and oh! Chaos 2 has flipped the Beast of Bodmin over! And they're immobilized, the former students from Cornwall! Meanwhile, Cassius II is trying to flip Griffon, but Griffon getting under Cassius and lifting it over. That's okay. They can self-right, and doing so. Meanwhile, Pussycat scratching the Polycarbonate armor of Griffon, and S.H.A.R.O.N ramming Pussycat, and in comes Chaos 2, getting under Griffon, and flipping it over! Griffon tries valiantly to self-right. I don't think they can, and nether do they, and Griffon just sits there. Oliver looks quite irritated in the control pod, as S.H.A.R.O.N is flipped by Cassius II. Pussycat digging into Rex's machine, and causing some scratches on the polycarb. Chaos 2 getting under S.H.A.R.O.N and flipping it again, while Cassius II shoves Pussycat towards the pit of oblivion. Will the Cat go down? Do, as it barely manages to escape being pitted. Meanwhile, Chaos 2 has propped S.H.A.R.O.N on the arena wall, and I don't think they'll be getting down from there anytime soon. They're immobilized, as Cassius II fires the rear spike at Pussycat, and the spike pushes Pussycat into the previously unused Pit of Oblivion! Now Chaos 2 gets under the rear of Cassius II, and flipping it once, twice, and thrice. As the time ticks down, Cassius II bravely flips Chaos 2 over, just as CEASE is called.

The judges will have to decide. On the left is Sam Taylor: Pit reporter of VRW3 and a good friend of mine. In the middle, we have Sean Shope: My youth group teacher and another good friend. And on the right, we have Connor Meyer: A crazed ping-pong enthusiast and all around pain-in-the-asp. Now let's look at the highlights, shall we?

First off, Chaos 2, performing remarkably well, flipping and immobilizing the Beast of Bodmin. Cassius II flipping Pussycat. There we have Griffon lifting Cassius II over. Cassius II brilliantly self-righting. One of the real winners for me is there, where Chaos 2 flips Griffon over. Cassius II also did a good job, flipping S.H.A.R.O.N, and surviving battering from Pussycat, and eventually pitting the Cat.

Well, the judges... have made their decision. Based on style, control, damage, and aggression...
                                .
                                .
                                .
                                .
AND THEY'VE GONE FOR CHAOS 2!!! Chaos 2 and Cassius II, come up to the platform!

Me: Well, Rex. You at least got revenge on Pussycat.
Rex: Yeah. It finally felt good to pit Pussycat. Also, I didn't drive into the pit this time! *Chuckles*
Me: Well, weren't you worried about Chaos flipping you into the pit, or out of the arena?
Rex: Of course! We did some testing about 2 years ago, and Chaos flipped me numerous times.
Me: Well, you did a great job to get this far. ladies and Gentleman, let's give it up for Cassius II!!!
                                *Crowd Cheers*
Me: Now, George. Doesn't it feel good to be the winner of this rematch?
George: Of course it does. And Rex was right about the test fights.
Me: Well aren't you glad you got rid of Beast of Bodmin?
George: Of course. I mean, last time we were lucky to make it here, and now that we've won, especially against the previous champs, it feels quite better.
Me: Well, here's your trophy!!! *hands George Francis his trophy* *Crowd cheers like mad*
Me: Well, we brought them back,
                                And got an applause,
                                And we settled this match
                                On Robot Wars. Goodbye!
                                *Credits play*
