      quote:

Hold everything Martijn...isnt that conflicting with what AJ said about Chaos 2, Tornado and Storm 2?

no it is not, ALL 3 turn on the spot, only Chaos 2 does so with less friction and therefor more smoothly, and quicker if all 3 would have the same motors and gearing

EDIT: as a matter of fact, both AJ AND me are completely right in their posts, all variants can turn on the spot, 2WD does so with more agility/quicker, 6WD does so more slowly and with lotsa friction

Provided the motors and gearing can conquer the friction of the wheels you can. What most 6wd robots do is make the middle pair of wheels a few mm larger so it eases the turning.

6WD are pushers most of the time, if your motors cant even conquer that friction it wouldnt be much of a pusher

but yes, youre right, but am I right in thinking that with larger wheels in the middle youre traction will decrease?

            Not really no.

You say it wouldnt be much of a pusher, but have you ever thought about the amount of battery power you waste just by trying to turn on a 6wd robot?

4wd should be a good compromise

              revised stats:

Shape: A Box with a flipper at the front
Colour: Red with a picture of a platypus on top facing the rear, the tail covers the flipper
              Speed: 15MPH
              Weight: 100KG
              Armour: 4MM Titanium

              Power: 6 NiCad Battlepacks @ 36V
Locomotion: 4 Wheels that just poke through the top and bottom of the robot
Ground Clearance: 3MM, 0 at the front of the flipper
              Turning Circle: 0
Weaponry: A rear-hinged flipper powered by a 80X100 ram at 750 PSI, powered by a 2.5KG Co2 tank, the flipper also has a built-in front-hinged flipper powered by an identical ram and runs off an identical Co2 tank , the first flipper is 40X30X1 and the other is 20X15X1 and is exactly in the middle of the other flipper
Srimech: Invertable and the flipper can right it
Strengths: Powerful flippers, Fast, Invertable, Unique weapon

Ben, is there much point in having 2 flipper systems on your machine?

I would scrap the forward hinged system and put the weight saved to better use (for example the 4mm titanium armour)

And 3mm ground clearance is too low

One flip and you will rip your own flipperarm off

Paul, I didnt want to say this in Kodys tournament but Nitrogen is not filled on weight but on pressure. So 2x 1,5kg Nitrogen makes no sense. Under FRA rules (and I hope you guys use those pneumatic rules because the RFL rules are lethal, Im amazed no one died there yet) the main bottles are only allowed a maximum of 1000psi.

CO2 is liquid inside the bottles, and therefore those are weighed since pressure is too variable.

I wasnt aware you weigh Nitrogen based on pressure. If so, its at 1000psi.

You still need to lower the pressure you can exert through, or elsequote:

The force of flips are now 1300kg at the tips.

                              I guess thats alright...

Leo, how many rams do some of the flippers nowadays (Iron Awe 5, Dantomkia, Bigger Brother) use? 1 or 2?
