Vapourbot Vengeance Series 1
Cough..... ummm.... anyone fancy a Hypo?
Basically, university this year got intense. Loads of assignments, more lectures and more work, which has resulted in me having virtually no spare time whatsoever. So instead of leaving this to rot, I have decided that I am going to Hypo the whole series UP TO the Grand Final (final four robots). So, here goes nothing... hope you enjoy!
VAPOURBOT VENGEANCE - THE ROAD TO GLORY!
Heat A got underway in a blaze of glory, with super-spinner Vader and the pesky feline Pussycat proving to all that real robots really do have the most fun, but it was the vapourbot from Manchester, HOT SAUCE, that proved too hot for its opponents, flipping its way into the semi finals.
In Heat B, things were looking Grim for Barbaric Response and Big Nipper, as Flick of the Wrist pushed and pitted its way to the heat final. Sadly, it wasnt to be for the vapour from Holland, as GRIM REAPER reaped what it sowed, sending Flicky over the fence and out.
Heat C saw the rise and fall of The Stag and Hassocks Hog, but also saw our very first Judges Decision. Axetra was given the chop, as DANTOMKIA soared into the series semis!
Heat D proved to be unlucky for 13 Black and Herbinator, who were smashed, sliced and bewildered by the Aussie Orror, INFUSION, the second vapour to make it through to the semi finals!
In Heat E, Axe-o-Lotl didnt have a lotl lotl laughs, as it was thwacked over and over and over again by the barbers pole, Barberous 2 n a bit. It was reigning champion TORNADO who breezed into the semi finals, pitting Tetanus Booster to claim that coveted place.
Heat F saw spinners and flippers collide, as tenth seed X-Terminator slice and dice its way through the competition. It was no match for the colossus from Cardiff APOCALYPSE, who flipped X-Terminator over, and out!
It was all systems go in Heat G, as Atomic blazed its way through its melee, showing Cygnus X3 and Terror Turtle the outside of the arena. It met its match in the heat semi, however, in the form of WEDGAS REVENGE, who then flipped SMIDSY over the fence!
It was spin to win in Heat H, as the srimech-less DREAMCATCHER span its way into the series semi finals, proving to be a nightmare for Scraptosaur and Ceros!
There were eyes galore in Heat I, as Eye of Ran avenged the Steel Avenger and shredded Shredder Evolution in its opening melee. It then endangered the Rhino in the next round, before succombing to the eye of the STORM II, resulting in the Eye of Ran being pitted.
Heat J saw Thermidor II flip its way into the heat final, giving the claw to Mobot and 8654T 2 in its melee, before getting shredded by eventual heat winner DISCO 5 - the real lord of the dance!
Heat K saw Mantis grapple and claw its way past Jabber and Infernal Contraption in its opening melee, only to be send flying by Heyght in the second round. In the heat final, it was Heyght who lived up to its name, being tossed out of the arena by BULLDOG BREED after a fantastically flipping good battle!
Heat L proved that not only do your robots have to be in top nick, but also your driving! Corkscrew Two having one too many before the show, driving itself into the pit. Deja vu, anyone?
In the second round, Behemoth was outmanouvered and pitted by eventual heat winner SLAMMER, Judge Shred facing the same fate in the heat final.
It was Mmmmmmurder in Heat M, as Tough as Nails quickly dispatched of Disco-Inferno, and Spin Doctor was spun out. Panic Attack was then pitted unceremoniously in the second round, leaving Tough as Nails in the final against the unknown Scot-bot, and eventual heat winner, WEDGE DEVOLUTION, proving that no nail is too tough. Tough as Nails, flipped into Matildas CPZ and left for dead.
Heat N saw many old faces come back... and then very quickly leave! TopBot, ROCS, Neater Machine and Chip all falling foul in the opening melees. In the second round, Dutch entrant Eternia proved too good for the seeded Spawn Again, but superior driving by the RAGING KNIGHTMARE team led them into the series semi finals, Eternia hanging up its clogs!
In our penultimate heat, Canadian entrant Tira IV dished out from disc-usting disc-truction, slashing and slicing Xenomorph and Hammerhead 2 out of the competition. Bigger Brother then flipped Disconstrictor out of the arena, as Tira failed to blow the Typhoon off its deadly warpath. The heat final saw showers of sparks, before a lucky flip saw Typhoon go over on its back, BIGGER BROTHER scraping through to the series semis!
Our final heat, Heat P was double dutch, as Dutch entrants Bamm Bamm were bammed out of the competition, flipped over and then dumped into the pit within seconds of the melee starting! Another Dutch entrant, Flank Attack, squeezed its way past Ripper in the second round, before being out-classed by the veterans FIRESTORM in the heat final!
