  • Robot SMASH!! Series 2: Recharged!

Eggheads? Isnt that a quiz show?

And I kind of thought it would end up that way...to be honest, Isolation was a bit useless overall, so it is being retired on grounds of sheer not good enoughness. (that, and I may nick the name for my feather :P)

    PREDICTIONS:
Super Gore is going to grapple and pit Wedga
Darkestar is going to forcefully remove Spin Dashs blade, then forcefully remove its skirts, and then forcefully remove it from the competition.

Good luck people, and w00ty fights as ever Liam.

Wedga is good...but I believe my invertibility can put up with that flipper. That...and SGEs rounded sides can withstand stacking. Nonetheless I shall avoid that weapon and go for the sides or rear...or the front if theres no way to avoid it. Grapple on as long as I can and drag to the pit ASAP!

              Ah, yes, I forgot.

Ill stick with the clamping ones. The piercing ones wont pierce Hardox armour.

I forgot to mention, awesome fights Liam, and Im not just saying that because I won.

              Indeed it is, Martijn.

I just need to point out Liam that during my fight you made 2 technical errors. One - Tri-Tainium has 165kj (each disc is 55kj each) and Im afraid you read the wrong piece of advice. One piece from Aaron Knight said that what I was doing would be correct, and I would hit with the 165kj I was aiming for. But it was a good fight, so well done.

SGE and Darkestar to make the Heat Final, the last ones a deffo, but the first ones tough...

In the Heat Final, Ill go for Alex to keep hitting the claws and battering SGE to win on points.

                Good luck everyone

Sorry about that Paul, but Im sure you agree that it wouldnt really have changed the outcome of the fight anyway.

Welcome back to Robot SMASH!! , where round 2 of the exciting Heat G is about to get underway. In round 1 the number #13 seed Super Gore Evo was teamed upon by Isolation and Darkestar, but still Isolation was pitted and the seed got through along with Darkestar. Then Metal Sonic Spin Dash improved on last series€™ performance by making it through round 1, shredding Tri-Tainium€™s tyres before it was flipped out of the arena by Wedga€™s Revenge. Now here€™s the line-up for round 2:
                  Super Gore Evo (13) v Wedga€™s Revenge
Metal Sonic Spin Dash v Darkestar

                  Heat Semi-Final 1

Ladies and Gentlemen, please implore the return of the number #13 seed Super Gore Evo and Wedga€™s Revenge.

                  Roboteers, standby!

                  Booth 1: Kody Kunz
                  Booth 2: Andrew Jackson

                  5...
                  4...
                  3...
                  2...
                  1...
                  SMASH!!

It really would be no surprise now if Wedga€™s Revenge were to defeat the number #13 seed, as for the past 4 heats seeds have bowed out in the second round, not even making it to the heat final. However, it seems Kody is pretty desperate to break the mould and charges at Wedga€™s Revenge with those clamping claws, slamming into the front of Andy€™s machine only to be flipped up and over before the claws can get a grip. Wedga€™s Revenge on the other hand quickly resets the flipper and charges in from behind, getting underneath the rear of Super Gore and sending it head over heels once more, but this time Kody charges straight back, getting underneath the flipper of Wedga€™s Revenge and grabbing hold of the sides, easily now slamming Andy right across the arena and into the opposite wall with a loud CRASH! The two robots struggle with each other, but Kody€™s tracks allow him more traction and he manages to swing Wedga in the direction of the pit release button, but Andy isn€™t giving up that easily and pulls the seeded machine onto the killsaws! BZZT! Super Gore loses its grip, but luckily for Kody I don€™t think the tracks are damaged. Wedga comes in on another attack, once again sending Super Gore toppling over and over again, all the while gaining points should this go to the judge€™s decision. But Kody isn€™t finished yet and quickly spins on the spot, turning Wedga around with him and grabbing hold from the side! The flipper arm is under one of the claws now, so Andy fires the flipper! But Kody holds on tight and so BOTH robots go up and over! With Wedga€™s Revenge upside down and in his clutches Kody makes for the pit release button, slamming his rear end into it hard! Now he turns and faces the pit, but Andy fires a master flip to self-right clean over Super Gore and out of its grip, now turning to ram Kody across the coliseum and with this flip send the number #13 seed cartwheeling sideways onto the killsaws again! BZZT! Super Gore is bounced off and lands back towards the centre of the arena, but Andy attacks again, getting in underneath and once again sending Super Gore Evo rocketing off skyward, this time with it coming crashing down with a real BUMP! But Kody isn€™t finished yet and comes back on the attack, battering Wedga€™s Revenge from the side, turning Andy over, but he self-rights and quickly overturns Super Gore Evo again! But still Kody goes on, grabbing hold of Wedga€™s Revenge again and once more making for the pit, and this time Wedga is pushed right backwards, but the careering pair miss the chasm by inches!

                  CEASE!

We now call time on this match for it to go to a judge€™s decision, but while they make that decision let€™s take a look at the highlights:

Wedga€™s Revenge on the other hand quickly resets the flipper and charges in from behind, getting underneath the rear of Super Gore and sending it head over heels once more

but this time Kody charges straight back, getting underneath the flipper of Wedga€™s Revenge and grabbing hold of the sides, easily now slamming Andy right across the arena and into the opposite wall with a loud CRASH!

Andy isn€™t giving up that easily and pulls the seeded machine onto the killsaws! BZZT!

once again sending Super Gore toppling over and over again

and this time Wedga is pushed right backwards, but the careering pair miss the chasm by inches!

                  Judge€™s Decision:
                  Damage:
                  Super Gore Evo- 6 x 4=24
                  Wedga€™s Revenge- 2 x 4= 8
                  Aggression:
                  Super Gore Evo- 6 x 3= 18
                  Wedga€™s Revenge- 8 x 3= 24
                  Control:
                  Super Gore Evo- 7 x 2= 14
                  Wedga€™s Revenge- 8 x 2= 16
                  Dominance:
                  Super Gore Evo- 4 x 1= 4
                  Wedga€™s Revenge- 8 x 1= 8
                  Overall:
                  Super Gore Evo- 24 + 18 + 14 + 4= 60pts
                  Wedga€™s Revenge- 8 + 24 + 16 + 8= 56pts

By a margin of 4 points the unseeded Wedga€™s Revenge is eliminated as experience counts for the rank #13 Super Gore Evo, who becomes the first seed in 4 heats to make it past round 2.

I€™m here in the pits now with Andy.
Me: I€™m surprised, Kody himself predicted Wedga to win the heat.
Andy: Well, there are lot of good robots here and this was just a tough draw, and really it was one of those fight s that really could go either way.
Me: Maybe there€™ll be a chance for a rematch next series?
Andy: I hope so, Wedga is fired up to kick some Super Gore REVO butt!
Me: Okaaaaaaaaaaaaaay, now let€™s head over to the coliseum for the second of our Heat G semi-finals!

                  Heat Semi-Final 2

Ladies and Gentlemen, please applaud the return to the coliseum of Metal Sonic Spin Dash and Darkestar!

                  Roboteers, standby!

                  Booth 1: Steven McGregor
                  Booth 2: Alex Holt

                  5...
                  4...
                  3...
                  2...
                  1...
                  SMASH!!

Both of these two impressive machines start spinning up their weapons as this fight gets underway, with Darkestar seeming the slightly more aggressive at the beginning of the fight, moving in quite slowly, but then pulling around fast to attack the side of MSSD with that triangular blade, but Steven is too quick and turns to meet Darkestar, ploughing straight into the 110kg tracked bot! They meet, with MSSD slightly to the left of Darkestar, but Alex drives up the wedge and Steven slides that vertical 4 clawed pussycat-style blade into the workings of Darkestar! The crowd gasp, and Darkestar€™s blade just manages to rip off some barbs on the top of MSSD, and that could help Darkestar later on, but suddenly the weapon comes to an abrupt halt, as it seems Steven€™s blade has sliced through Darkestar€™s weapon belt, rendering that blade completely motionless, not to mention useless! This really is Alex€™s worst nightmare, and now MSSD brings out that blade, pulling with it the belt from inside Darkestar. Alex looks dismayed and tries to push MSSD into the pit release button, but Steven reverses into it anyway before going on the attack of Darkestar and getting in underneath those tracks, trying to do more damage with that dangerous saw! But the real idea was to trap Darkestar on the barbs, and that hasn€™t happened since Alex was able to rip off the starting few, and this now allows Darkestar to drive up, but then turn and get off the side of MSSD, and now he tries to push Steven towards the pit from the side! But it doesn€™t work that well and MSSD reverses a little before driving back in underneath Darkestar, now easily shoving Alex towards the pit and in.

                  CEASE!

A pretty quick match, Darkestar has no weapon and now no place in Robot SMASH!! Series 2: Recharged other than a nametag on MSSD€™s list of victims.

I€™m here in the pits now with Alex.
Me: Did that go as you planned?
Alex: Not really, the one type of weapon that can take out Darkestar€™s weaponry is a vertical saw blade like that and that€™s just what MSSD had.
Me: Is it time for Darkestar to go back to the drawing board?
Alex: Not quite yet. It did well here in round 1, and has already reached the finals of Joey€™s Chevron Championship, and if it does well there it€™s definitely not going anywhere quite yet.
Me: Okaaaaaaaaaaaaay, now let€™s take a look at the heat final.

                  Heat G Final:
Super Gore Evo (13) v Metal Sonic Spin Dash
Tactics, predictions and a boo for this heat, because it has been fun to write, but now there is only 1 battle left.

Wow, maybe I should just stop giving tactics altogether if I do as well as this.

                          HEAT G
                          ROUND 3
METAL SONIC SPIN DASH VS Super Gore EVO (13)

Those spike skirts could be tricky to penetrate. Avoid the jaws and charge the sides to try and nibble through to the titanium tracks. If the spike skirts prove too tricky to beat, aim for the rear and attack the tracks there. If all else fails, of course, simply ram Kodys krusher into submission.

Also, can I just confirm with Daniel what version of Monsoon this is? MEGA Monsoon was entered in series 1, so that is what I planned to use, but for a reason I cant remember Ive said Manic Monsoon in the line-ups, which I dont have stats for.

Oh boy. This does not look good, as those sloped sides are difficult to grab on to. I think I shall switch for the piercing claws here, as they have a better chance if they can pierce into the armour, and the clamping claws will just slide off. Its 3.75mm Hardox which is very hard to pierce, but I shall have to try. If at all I can grasp hold of him, PIT!!!

Oh, and see if I can wreck that sawblade of his by bashing it up with the front scoop.

                              Awesme work Liam.

                              • Robot SMASH!! Series 2: Recharged!

Welcome back, ladies and gentlemen, to Robot SMASH!! , where Heat G is drawing to a close. We have our two heat finalists, the number #13 seed Super Gore Evo and Metal Sonic Spin Dash, so let€™s see how they got this far:
Super Gore Evo (13) was teamed upon by Isolation and Darkestar, but fought back strongly and pitted them both to go through along with Darkestar, who was the second robot to hit the pit.
Metal Sonic Spin Dash immediately showed it intended to improve on a round 1 defeat, which is what happened last series. However, this time around Steven used the saw blade to good effect and chewed up Tri-Tainium€™s tyre, and then Paul€™s interesting three-disc design was OOTAed by Wedga€™s Revenge.
In the first heat semi-final Super Gore Evo (13) was flipped around by Wedga€™s Revenge, but came back strongly with some good grabs and slams to prevail by a 4 point margin with a 60-56 decision.
In the second heat semi-final Metal Sonic Spin Dash got a far easier passage through, with the first onslaught cutting through Darkestar€™s weapon belt and the shoves that followed left Alex in the pit.

Now I€™m here in the pits with both teams before we head into the coliseum.
Me: Right then Kody, you€™re the first seeded robot to make it passed round 2 since Heat B, do you think you can imitate Wedge Devolution (1) and Supreme Glory Omega (3) and make it through to the semi-finals?
Kody: I certainly hope so. My spike-skirts will help in keeping MSSD away from my tracks, and I€™m swapping the clamping claws for the piercing ones, as I may have a small chance against his 3.75mm hardox armouring.
Me: He can€™t get under the front either, can he?
Kody: Absolutely not, as I have a scoop to stop him doing just that, but it€™s unlikely I€™ll be getting under his front wedge either.
Me: What about your rear end?
Kody: He can easily get under there, but like most bots I have 0 turning circle so Steven will have to pull off some master driving skills to get back there.
                                Me: What if he does?
Kody: Then my tracks could be more sliced up than Tri-Tainium€™s tyres were.
                                Me: Good luck.
                                Kody: Thank you.

Me: Okey-dokey Steve, the number #13 seed wants a piece of you.
Steven: Not as much as I want a piece of him.
                                Me: Really?
Steven: Yes, my saw should go through his tracks rather nicely, just like they went through Darkestar€™s weapon belt.
Me: You already have Wedge Devolution (1) into the semi-finals, but Whirligig 4.5 (7), Pussycat and All Scoop (11) have crashed out of the competition.
Steven: Maybe so, but I have E Clawdius Unum, Turbo Tails and Killotine: EVO waiting in the wings.
Me: The only change to your squad this series was to replace The Botles Reunited and put in Pussycat instead, obviously because of the realie rule, but how come your line-up has stayed so close to the last one?
Steven: Most of the bots did well last time around, and the ones that didn€™t had tough line-ups, so I feel the squad can do well again.
Me: It certainly seems so, Pussycat (the realie) has been your only round 1 failure so far.
Steven: Let€™s hope it stays that way.
Me: Indeed. Good luck in there.
                                Steven: Thanks.

Now we go up to Eggheads Corner, where Mr. Einstein and Professor NMK (Not Male Kram) are having a heated discussion on tonight€™s heat final.
Mr.: I€™m backing the seed here. There€™s a good chance the claws will pierce MSSD€™s armour and then pit the robot.
Prof.: Not a chance, Metal Sonic Spin Dash has that saw blade, and that€™s what€™ll be doing the damage.
Mr.: Super Gore certainly has the better track record in RS!! , last season MSSD fell out of the first round, but SGE made it to the heat final.
Prof.: Yes, but MSSD had Mina in the first round, and she ended up finishing 5th overall.
Mr.: ... You seem to forget that Kody Kunz (the vapourboteer behind Seung Mina IV) also created Super Gore Evo.
Prof.: Let them settle this in the coliseum now.
Me: Okaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay, odd as it was no one stole my catchphrase so let€™s return to the coliseum!

                                Heat Final

Ladies and Gentlemen, please give a thunderous applause to the number #13 seed Super Gore Evo and Metal Sonic Spin Dash.

                                Booth 2: Steven McGregor

                                SMASH!!

And we€™re off! As we kick off into this heat final both robots head off across the arena and meet each head on, there are no secrets or strange tactics being kept here, they both mean business! Kody immediately gets to grips with MSSD, but the claws don€™t go through the armour this time and so the bots just struggle against each other, SGE€™s tracks giving it the traction it needs to push Steven backwards across the arena and into the pit release button! But now Steven escapes and comes around on a side attack, but this time MSSD fails to get past those spike skirts on SGE and Steven drives up the side, allowing Kody to turn and push him into the killsaws! BZZT! MSSD is thrown way, but comes back on the attack and pushes the seed from behind, ramming Kody up against the arena side wall and getting in underneath with that saw! And suddenly the left track is coming off as MSSD has cut clean through it from underneath it, a real shame for Kody as now his movement will be greatly impaired! Despite this SGE makes it away and attacks Steven from behind, grabbing hold with those claws and beginning to drag Steven backwards, and suddenly the claws gain purchase and sink into the side armour! We weren€™t expecting that, but now Steven kicks MSSD€™s equally powerful drive into action, and without further ado Steven pulls Kody towards the pit, where Kody had intended on going, but with him pushing MSSD where he wanted it to go, not the other way around! As soon as he realises he€™s going down Kody quickly tries to pull the claws free of MSSD€™s bodywork, but they€™re stuck in good and proper and Steven easily now pulls Super Gore Evo around, then reverses to dump it into the pit of oblivion in a puff of smoke as yet another seed bites the dust!

                                CEASE!

The heat comes to an end, and the number #13 seed Super Gore Evo bites the dust as Metal Sonic Spin Dash heads through to the series semi-finals, improving greatly from last season€™s round 1 loss.
Coming next time on Robot SMASH!! , Heat H and the return of another Kody robot, the number #15 seed Wedginator Devilution.
