      Robot SMASH!! Series 2: Recharged!

Wedge Devolution open the pit and box-rush its brains out. I think The Curse has the lowest pushing power in the match, so I might focus my attention on it. Either dodge the blade or stop it altogether, get under and then either dump it in the pit or dump it out the arena. Whichevers closest.

Okay, change of tactics (Liam, you listening? :winkSince Wedge Devolution is coming for me, dodge out of the way of the champ initial charge and go behind SHA2 to let my blade spin up, and avoid it until Sheer Heart Attack 2 moves in, and then help SHA2 once Wedge Devo is attacking it.

Oh, and back into the pit release button, too, and then try as hard as I can to stay in the middle of the arena and/or away from Wedge Devo until SHA2s attacking, then move in.

uhhhm, Kody, small reminder, SHA2 TOO has a weapon that needs time to spin up :P

Liam, Im sooooooooooo not gonna act like a human (I mean robot) wall, Im gonna avoid my opponents too until my weapons spun up, like The Curse

I suggest Kody that whoever has his weapon up to speed first attack Wedge Devo first

            Robot SMASH!! Series 2: Recharged!

Not going to be posting tactics or anything in this tourney - got exams and stuff to revise for. So I will accept any team ups or generally go for the weaker of the two opponents.

Here€™s who I think will win each Heat:

            Heat A: Sheer Heart Attack.
            Heat B: Axe-o-Lotl.
            Heat C: Storm II.
            Heat D: Whirligig.
            Heat E: SOR X.
Heat F: Either Scoop or Tengu, more inclined to say Tengu.
Heat G: If Super Gore Revo was used, I would say that, but I think MSSD to clinch the heat final.
            Heat H: Axeon hands down.
Heat I: Symmetry - it€™s a really underestimated vapour and should sail through this heat (unless those batteries run out!!!)
Heat J: Any of them could win. I€™ll hedge a bet on PsycloniZer tho.
Heat K: Flick of the Wrist.
Heat L: I feel confident in this heat - Dennis to drum up a victory.
            Heat M: Holepunch.
            Heat N: Gravity.
Heat O: I€™ll go out on a limb here and say the clusterbot to sneak through the heat.
            Heat P: Nidhogg, I guess.

My guess for the top 4:

            1st - Tengu
            2nd - Symmetry
3rd - Flick of the Wrist
            4th - Axeon

              Robot SMASH!! Series 2: Recharged!

              Random tactics from me:

Scaramanga v Monolith v Turbo Shredder: I€™ll probably go for Turbo Shredder here, and team up with Alex if he agrees. Turbo Shredder€™s weapon isn€™t going to cause my shell any problems, so first of all I€™ll charge in and get the disc stalled. Then I€™ll try and push it around into the hazards. We€™ve got similar amount of power, but I win in terms of traction. Plus, I have the wedge shape to help get under it.

Back to Rock III v SOR X v Pussycat: I€™m thinking of a team up between me and Martijn here. Either way, I will be going for Pussycat. My rim should cause plenty of damage to the cat, and those wheels would be nice to rip off, which basically renders it useless. The blade isn€™t going to cause me any problems, so hopefully this should be quite short.

Metal Sonic Spin Dash v Wedgas Revenge v Tri-Tainium: Hmmm, two similar opponents here. I guess I should go with Steve for old times sake. Tri-Tainium has that nice 10mm ground clearance for me to exploit, so I may as well do so. Get under it, push it towards the arena wall, and throw it out of the arena. Both opponents need to get under me to cause any sort of damage, and with my skirting that should be quite hard. Once Tri-Tainium is flipped, its weapons are out of play, but I€™m hoping just the one flip will do it.

Wedginator Devilution (15) v Lethal Injection v Axeon 3.0: I€™ll agree to the team up with Wedginator Devilution. Attempt to box rush Lethal Injection around the arena. Maybe try for a lucky hit with the axe onto one of those wheels. Or, I could try and get it trapped between the axe and my wedge and then pit it.

Gabriel II (14) v PyscloniZer v Baldur: Sounds like Joey wants to take out Baldur, so I may as well join in. Spin up to full speed and then go crazy. 5mm of Kevlar and Titanium sounds like a wonderful meal! However the front scoop should probably be avoided. Although I might as well have a go at tearing that off as well.

No Objections v Crimson Thunder v Rupture: A weak link, eh? Oh well, for what its worth, my tactics are as follows. Go for Crimson Thunder first. That overhanging wedge should be nice to get a grip on to lift Crimson Thunder off the ground. Then, some careful manoeuvring should mean I can roll it onto its side, where it seemingly cannot self right. Or, I could go for No Objections, which has its 7mm ground clearance to get under. Then I can try and stack it against an arena wall or something.

Dennis the Menace v Exertion v Revenge of Black Death: I want to team up with Revenge of Black Death because it reminds me of SOR. Try and roll Dennis over and see if I can stall the chainsaw motors and eliminate the weaponry. Then push it around - Sinclair C5€™s vs. S28-400 Mags? This should be interesting!

Turbo Tails v Gravity v Phoenix Down: Flip them OOTA. End.

Who I reckon will win the heats:

Heat A: Wedge Devo or Sheer Heart Attack
              Heat B: Supreme Glory Omega
              Heat C: Cyclone Force 3
              Heat D: Whirligig 4.5
Heat E: Die-Ceratops Re-Invertus or Back to Rock III
              Heat F: Tengu
              Heat G: Super Gore Evo
              Heat H: Wedginator Devilution
Heat I: Achilles or Manic Monsoon
              Heat J: Gabriel II
Heat K: Flick of the Wrist
              Heat L: E Clawdius Unum
Heat M: Black Panther or Holepunch
              Heat N: Phoenix Down
Heat O: Very tough heat€¦ I reckon Nitro-Gene can do it
              Heat P: Hmmm€¦ Envy

Oh, and if I run into any of Daniels bots in the second round, Ill make him pay for not predicting one of my bots to win a heat.

                    Robot SMASH!! Series 2: Recharged!

Good draws for me and for the rest, and it looks like a killer competition. I may as well post somes predictions:

                    Heat A
Wedge Devolution (1) v Sheer Heart Attack 2 v The Curse

Given the history of people teaming-up against current Champions, Ill say Wedge will win no problem, and maybe The Curse shall go out...of the arena.

                    Y4 v Splinter v Body Hammer

This doesnt need a prediction - just the fact that Bodyhammer wont have a body left

Heat Winner: Ill say that Wedge Devolution is the Champ and the Champ will win.

                    Heat B
                    Chaos 2 v Axe-o-Lotl v Knyfe

This is quite a good match-up for me, as both of these two have quite thin armours, and this is why Ill chose...

6: A 5mm Hardox front plate with 8 rows of 6 spikes on them, making Knyfe into a useful and dangerous rammer, as the spikes are each 8.4cm long, 2.2cm in diameter, and diamond tipped. And a 100kg robot hitting you at 20mph with diamond-tipped spikes is going to hurt thin-ish and thick-ish armours.

The plan with this is to ram into either of these two and attach myself to themlike a blood-sucker, and push them around. Target Chaos 2, as I might pierce the Plexiglass rear and disable something. If Chris wishes to help me - OK.

Supreme Glory Omega (3) v Shrederator v GBOD

Ill go for a surprise upset and say the seed will be ripped up by the 2 uber-spinners.

Heat Winner: GBOD, or me, or SGO if he doesnt go out

                    Heat C
                    Storm II (5) v Obsidian v Cyclone Force 3

Sorry Leo, but Im going to target you and put you on your back, as Obsidian cant self-right. Flip Obsidian with the lifter and win through - good plan, and its simple

Scaramanga II v Monolith v Turbo Shredder

Turbo Shredder out - its a bit out of its depth here.

Heat Winner: Monolith, or Cyclone Force, or me - in order of likeiness.

                    Heat D
                    Whirligig 4.5 (7) v Eternia v Nightmare

Mightmare shall have a nightmare thats lying in a borken heap out of the arena

                    Macduff the 3rd v Orka MK4 v Stealth

Stealth shall be seen in a smoking heap that the bottom of the pit.

Heat Winner: Whirligig is a tough nut, but it shall be crunched by Orka or Eternia.

                    Heat E
                    WORCK-ER (9) v Die-Ceratops Re-Invertus v QE2

I accept for team-up proposal Joey - Attack Die-Ceratopss from the rear and sides, push to the edge and toss it out. I should have enough power to do so, and my wedge should be low enough.

Back to Rock III v SoR X v Pussycat

Pussycat to land on its feet, which will no longer be there.

Heat Winner: Q.E.2 is tough, and so is Back To Rock III, and so am I, but Joey may win here.

                    Heat F
Mantis v Walk Dont Run 3 v Pure Evil: ROTD

Pure Evil to self-destruct after 1 hit .

                    ASANSMSADB (11) v Tengu v Sithis

The seed out, and it wont be a pleasent sight to behold, especially for Steven .

Heat Winner: Probably Tengu, maybe Sithis.

                    Heat G
Super Gore Evo (13) v Isolation v Darkestar

Super Gore Evo may be threatened here, but not as much I believe Isolation is. Darkestar through for sure.

Metal Sonic Spin Dash v Wedgas Revenge v Tri-Tainium

So AJ is after me - Ill just go for Steve MSSD has that self-righter, and also some skirts that would be nice to tear out with my 3 discs. In addition, the need to self-right for both of these work in my favour - If I get either of these two onto their back, I can disc their base-panels when they self-right. Ill try and avoid Wedga like the plauge to end all plagues that have been begun by other plagues

Heat Winner: Wedgas Revenge is the top choice, with Darkestar as the second choice.

                    Heat H
                    Wedginator Devilution (15) v Lethal Injection v Axeon 3.0

An axe, a flipper and a spinner - all we need is a fight to make this perfect . Lethal Injection might last if its disc can hit something, but if not...

Mega Masher 2 v Hannibal v Axe to Fall

Bye Hannibal - youll be outpushed and pitted..

Heat Winner: Axeon? Axe To Fall? No - Ill go for Wedginator to reclaim glory!

                    Heat I
Shadow Zone Returns (16) v Symmetry v Paralyzation

Paralyzation wont last long, but if it lasts longer than Symmetry, Leo will be out.

Achilles v Manic Monsoon v Death Threat 0.2

                    Bye Death Threat.

Heat Winner: Achilles or Manic Monsoon, mostly Manic Monsoon.

                    Heat J
                    Gabriel II (14) v PsycloniZer v Baldur

Ohhhhhhhhhh...Gabriel is seeded, and is through possibly, but it all depends on who Baldur goes for. If it goes for PsycloniZer, AJ will be out. If it goes for Gabriel, Alex will go out.

Death Wish 2 v Biohazard v Axes of Evil

Biohazard deffo through...dunno who will join him...maybe Axes Of Evil.

Winner: Ill go for Gabriel II to win through.

                    Heat K
Flick of the Wrist (12) v Dante v The Rock

This going to be a tough battle, but its going to be far from my toughest battle. Dante isnt going to do a great deal to my bodywork, and my insides are protected by 4cm of Vulkanised rubber, so Dantes weapon wont be much good, and in addition, I think I can take out Flick: In the Dual Duels, The Rock was able to put some dents and holes into 7mm Titanium, which is also the armour used on Flick Of The Wrist. Try and hammer him at the front to bust the lifters, but also try and get him over the flipping spikes, so I can target the base and bust the electrics. Its a tough plan, but it might work - if it doesnt try and hammer Dante or shove it down the pit.

No Objections v Crimson Thunder v Rupture

Crimson Thunder stands the best chance in this battle, bbut Ill go for a shock and say that No Objections to go.

Heat Winner: Maybe Crimson Thunder, myabe me, but itll be Flick if I fail to dispatch him.

                    Heat L
                    Killobite 5.0 (10) v Paramagnetic LOX Box v E Clawdius Unum

                    Farewell, Mr. Clawdius of Rome

Dennis the Menace v Exertion v Revenge of Black Death

I believe Dennis The Menace might go, but Exertion is certainately through this round.

                    Winner: Dennis the Menace...

                    Heat M
                    Razer ( v Weapon Synergy v Holepunch

Razer through, probably...Holepunch to possibly join him.

Black Panther v Blue Sparks v D.V.D: The Sequel

The addition of that reversible wedge is a treat for this match-up. Team-up with Danny and batter the Black Panther like a fish! Go for the rear and sides and try to kill it quickly.

Winner: I might do well here, but Ill mainly go for Blue Sparks.

                    Heat N
                    Liar 2 (6) v Cat with Wheels v MeCannibal 2.0

Haha, Liar and MeCannibal again. I think MeCannibal will again go out. Can I point out Kody, MeCannibal beat Liar before, according to your C&B: Extreme thread And now given its Wheely Big Cheese like sahpe with exposed wheels, Liar will be my target, and Ill rip BOTH of those beautiful wheels, and ignore Cat With Wheels - maybe even team-up with Danny

Turbo Tails v Gravity v Phoenix Down

Gravity to have its rear smashed into bits by Turbo Tails and its blade.

Winner: Cat With Wheels or Phoenix Down

                    Heat O
With or Without You v Tough as Nails v Nitro-Gene 4.0

My plan is to make sure that both of these robots know that I mean business. With my 36hp (TWICE that of Storm 2s hp rating, and I also have more traction than Storm), I will drive into Tough As Nails claws, and just push him into Without You. This should either break off Tough As Nails wheels or shock-kill the cluster. Keep on ramming Tough As Nails into the spinner until one of them dies. Failing that, toss Tough As Nails or With you OOTA.

Seung Mina IV (4) v Killotine: EVO v Dervish /

Given that Kody is after Killtoine, its a match between those two to see who goes. Dervish may go if Killotine turns its back on fighting Seung, but Killotine might not leave the arena alive, but it might leave the arena

Heat Winner: Nitro-Gene may do well in this heat, but Seung Mina IV is the head of the pack, so either me or Kody to see the semis.

                    Heat P
Nidhogg (2) v Leprosy Infection v Under Pressure

Depends on Martijns stats before I can make a proper prediction.

Drum Boy v Envy v Sonic Boom

Sonic Boom and Drum Boy are very simillar - which is why Envy is already through...and will go through with Sonic Boom.

Heat Winner: Nidhogg should do it, or Envy if that fails.

Good luck everyone, especially Liam, althuogh to write a brilliant tourney isnt going to take much effort from you.

                      Robot SMASH!! Series 2: Recharged!

Welcome everybody, to the second series of Robot SMASH!! .
Last season, 64 robots did battle to be crowned RS!! Champion, but only 1 Wedge Devolution survived to beat Nidhogg in the final and take the trophy. I€™m your host, Liam Eliot, and this is Robot SMASH!! Series 2: Recharged!

And opening the tournament we have the first round eliminators from Heat A, let€™s take a look at the draw.
Wedge Devolution (1) v Sheer Heart Attack 2 v The Curse
                      Y4 v Splinter v Bodyhammer

                      Eliminator 1

Created and entered by Steven McGregor, the number #1 seed, Wedge Devolution!
This classic wedge and flipper design is often underestimated, at its opponents cost! This wedge on wheels has a powerful rear hinged flipper with the plate bent upwards at the front, like that of Bigger Brother, to aid in getting underneath the opposition. Also, with 2 x LEM-130s at 36v powering the drive it€™s no pushover either.

In RS!!1: Took minor damage from Woodpecker in round one, but eventually dispatched the box wedge to meet Wedginator 6.0 in round two, whom it threw OOTA. In the heat final Steven came up against Razer, who went the same way as the previous two. In the finals Wedge Devo was drawn up against Liar 2, who managed to get a side spike stuck in under the flipper! But Steven recovered and threw Liar 2 out of the competition. In the semi-finals it met ISDSFA, and threw Frank Goacher out of the running to go onto the final, where Nidhogg couldn€™t self-right when flipped against the wall with the spines damaged. To finish the match off in style Wedge Devolution flipped Joey McConnell€™s finalist clean out of the arena.

Created and entered by Martijn M Benschop, Sheer Heart Attack 2!
A very intuitive drum in between the tracks design, this robot also has wedges at the back of the tracks. There€™s not much you can attack, but there€™s a lot of weight in the drum so Sheer Heart Attack could get a heart attack if it gets flipped.

In RS!!1: Became locked in a deadly embrace with Turbo Tails in the first round, and won on a judge€™s decision after slicing up some fur. Round 2 looked to be a better day and Sheer Heart Attack 2 started very well against WORCK, but was then thrown out of the arena and out of the competition!

Created and entered by Kody Kunz, The Curse!
Less conventional than Wedge Devolution, this spinning blade robot is the successor to The Grand Disillusion. The front kinetic energy weapon is powered by 4 S28-400 magmotors, and the wheels are driven by two. The weapon is powerful, dishing out 64Kj per hit, but there€™s not much HP in the drive and that could be Mr. Kunz€™s downfall here.

In RS!!1: Looked promising, but the tyres were exposed to Nidhogg€™s crusher from above and The Curse was cursed in the first round.

                      Roboteers, standby!

                      Booth 1: Steven McGregor

                      SMASH!!

The two spinners are quick to spin up, and Wedge Devolution isn€™t what you€™d call slow, driving off the start and heading straight for The Curse! Kody however, dodges the move and then slams into Wedge Devo€™s rear with that long blade, sending Steven spinning away into SHA2, who drives up the front wedge, scratching the armour quite badly before Steven hits the flipper button and sends SHA2 flying across the arena and crashing down just inside the walls! But he€™s not safe from this deadly duo yet as The Curse comes in from the side again, thwacking Steven with that powerful blade! And this time we see the side panel almost being ripped off completely, one side has come loose and if either spinner gets another hit on that Steven€™s in real trouble! But for now he attacks The Curse, getting underneath and flipping Kody€™s machine head over heels so it comes bouncing down on its head, pulling chunks out of the arena floor! And before SHA2 can attack with the deadly drum Steven speeds off and hits the pit release button before turning to attack The Curse again, who is coming on another onslaught to the front of Wedge Devo!
                      CRASH!
Both robots spin away, but Wedge quickly recovers and turns around to get under Kody, ramming him into the arena wall! SHA2 comes in from behind now though and scrams Wedge Devo€™s rear end, but Steven flips The Curse, and almost gets it out, but Kody hits the barrier and comes crashing back down, only to get rammed from the side again and pushed across the arena towards the pit! Kody looks on helplessly while Martijn tries to help him by getting SHA2 to go as fast as it can, but it€™s too slow for Wedge Devo, who finally reaches the chasm and dumps The Curse into the pit! Wedge Devolution celebrates, but in comes SHA2 from the side and smashes into the damaged panel!
                      CRASH!
The side panel flies away across the arena, the hit making Wedge Devolution follow The Curse into the pit! It€™s through anyway, as is SHA2, so Martijn just shrugs and says
                      What the heck?
                      Before plunging in after them!

                      CEASE!

Wedge Devolution (1) stands up and defeats a deadly alliance to move onto round 2 with Sheer Heart Attack 2 while The Curse is sent out in round 1 again!

We now go to the pits, where a disheartened Kody Kunz is wheeling The Curse back to its table, where his seven other bots are waiting.
Me: Sorry to see The Curse get cursed yet again Kody.
Kody: Meh, 7 more chances to get to the semis.
Me: That€™s the spirit Kody, will we see The Curse back again in RS!!3?
                      Kody: Who knows?
                      Me: You do.
Kody: Not yet I don€™t, maybe a new Curse will curse you all or maybe The Curse has been cursed by RS!! For the last time...
Me: Okaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay, now back to the coliseum for the second eliminator of the promising Heat A!

                      Eliminator 2

Created and entered by Christopher Mason, Y4!
Inspired by T-Minus, this powerful flipper is also invertible so it can€™t flip itself out of the arena, but that leaves the tyres exposed to axes and crushers from the top. Will this newcomer make the cut or GET cut?

                      In RS!!1: Didn€™t enter.

Owned and entered by Leo Van Miert, Splinter!
This scoop, axe and arms combination makes for an excellent weapon synergy, and Splinter is a veteran of Robot Wars, reaching the semi-finals of series 4. Since then Team RCC bought it and now Splinter is a Dutch machine, but that won€™t affect its killer instincts in the arena!

                      In RS!!1: Didn€™t enter

Built by Team Kat, entered by Alex Holt, Bodyhammer!
Another RW veteran, this one of series 1 and 2! It reached the grand finale of series 1 and came second, losing to Roadblock, but in series 2 it lost in the gauntlet. Its opponent Splinter doesn€™t have a reliable srimech, but this robot doesn€™t have one at all...

                      In RS!!1: Didn€™t enter

                      Roboteers, standby!

Booth 1: Christopher Mason, Leo Van Miert
                      Booth 2: Alex Holt

                      5...
                      4...
                      3...
                      2...
                      1...
                      SMASH!!

Y4 is quick off the mark, heading into the centre of the arena to line up an attack on Bodyhammer, but Splinter gets there first, grabbing Alex from the side and clubbing it with the axe while Leo pushes it across the arena and into the pit release button! This looks like it€™ll all be over in a matter of seconds now, but just for laughs in comes Y4 and rescues Bodyhammer by pushing Alex out of Leo€™s grip, then turns and sends Splinter up and over onto its back! Leo tries to self-right, but the axe flops down uselessly, though in comes Y4 again and throws Splinter back onto its wheels before attacking Bodyhammer, ramming Alex across the arena and then slipping the flipper in underneath to throw Bodyhammer skyward! The RW1 runner-up soars through the air, and then lands on its side, right next to the pit! Leo comes in with an evil glint in his eye and finishes Alex€™s realie off with an easy little nudge!

                      CEASE!

A very short bout there and Bodyhammer is flipped and pitted, Y4 and Splinter, they go through to round 2!

We now return to the pits where Alex is heaving Bodyhammer back to the table.
Me: What went wrong there Mr. Holt?
Alex: Nothing actually, I lasted far longer than I expected. It€™s a realie, and a series 1 realie at that, but it was still working at the end!
Me: Perhaps choosing a realie with a srimech would have been a better option?
                      Alex: S€™pose so!

                      The Heat A Semi-final line-up:
                      Wedge Devolution (1) v Splinter
                      Y4 v Sheer Heart Attack 2
                      Tactics, predictions and pie please!

But after our ad break, the flipper frenzy!
5 ferocious flippers and Stealth take to the arena to prove who has the best flipper in a fun flipping frenzy!

Stealth did have a flipper it just wasnt very fast, or powerful, or good...and the entire robot was held together rather dubiously...

Wooty fights Liam though, looking forward to the rest of the tournament
