  • Robot SMASH!! Series 2: Recharged!

Alex...I know you tend to go for tactics like spin and hit, but I need to know if my offer of a team-up against Flick is going to be accepted.

Oh crud. This could turn ugly So much for my hope that Alex would be willing to take out Flick So much for the team-up

TIME FOR REVENGE UPON THE UNLOYAL DANTE!

Go on a full-out Dante hunt, and kill him. Plain and simple - if Flick gives me hell, cause a few holes, and try and avoid the pit.

Good luck Martijn and Alex...against me

I did actually write round 1, but the battles were short and of a poor quality so if no one minds waiting another day or two Im going to re-do them

Actually I was agreeing with you Paul, but Martijn posted while I was posting ... but as you are going for a Dante hunt now its time for a Rock hunt!

Its worth a lot. In addition, I proposed it first.

Tonight on Robot SMASH!! we will see the return of the number #12 seed Flick of the Wrist as he battles The Rock, Dante, No Objections, Crimson Thunder and Rupture for a place in the series semi-finals.
Flick of the Wrist (12) v The Rock v Dante
No Objections v Crimson Thunder v Rupture

                                Eliminator 1

Created and entered by Martijn M Benschop, seeded #12, Flick of the Wrist!
A six-wheeled Tornado with diamond tipped lifting spikes and B42-500s at 48v in the drive. The forks work both ways up and can go parallel to the ground in order to be used as classic ramming spikes. However, the wheels are exposed to crushers and axes from above and the 7mm titanium armour may cave in against the more powerful spinners.

In RS!!1: Everyone thought Dennis the Menace would drum up a victory in round 1, but Flicky lifted and pitted the spinner to advance to the second round, where it OOTAed the full body spinner Sakura with a little help from an arena spike. In the heat final however Seung Mina IV swapped her flipper plate for her flipper spikes and got right in underneath Flick to win the fight after a long and close tussle, eventually winning on a JD.

Created and entered by Paul Cuomo, The Rock!
This box wedge design is powered by 2 LEM-130s at 36v and uses a powerful axe powered by high pressure co2. The front wedge is angled so that it can attempt to overturn opponents and the hardox armour will protect it from most attacks.

                                In RS!!1: Didn€™t enter

Created and entered by Alex Holt, Dante!
This interesting design has almost no armour, but has two tungsten carbide tubes at the front to defend from other spinners. The weaponry to watch out for is the large vertical flywheel powered by a magmotor which is designed to bludgeon opponents instead of shred their armour.

                                In RS!!1: Didn€™t enter

                                Roboteers, standby!

                                Booth 1: Martijn M Benschop
Booth 2: Paul Cuomo, Alex Holt

                                5...
                                4...
                                3...
                                2...
                                1...
                                SMASH!!

Flick of the Wrist is the seeded robot in this heat and immediately shows its speed and power at the start of this bout as Martijn speeds off the mark and circles his opponents, eyeing his prey and trying to decide who€™s tastier. However his decision is made for him as The Rock comes straight at the powerful ramming machine at full speed, slamming into him side on and bringing the axe down, making a large dent and with the second blow which soon follows a hole on the top! But Flick is quick to turn the tables and pulls around to the side of The Rock, getting those diamond tipped spikes underneath to turn The Rock up and over onto its back! Paul self-rights, but Martijn gets under The Rock before its wheels hit the floor and rams it across the coliseum, slamming into the bottom wall, causing The Rock to tumble over sideways and land with its axe hanging over the wall! Without that weapon to right itself The Rock is helpless, and now Dante comes in after doing nothing so far to finish the job with a massive smack from that disc! CRASH! The Rock€™s base panel is removed entirely from the hit and Paul€™s axe robot flies over the barrier and out of the contest! That was all it took, 13 seconds between the time The Rock entered the arena and the time it left.

                                CEASE!

The Rock crumbles; Flick of the Wrist (12) and Dante head through to round 2!

I€™m here in the pits now with Paul.
Me: Did that go as you planned it?
                                Paul: No, not really!
                                Me: What was the plan?
Paul: To eliminate the seed, but Dante didn€™t team up with me and so Flick of the Wrist was able to shunt me around with no problems at all.
Me: Still a few chances left.
                                Paul: Yeah.
Me: Okaaaaaaaaaaaaaay, now let€™s head over to the coliseum for the second eliminator!

                                Eliminator 2

Created and entered by Joey McConnell, No Objections!
A low dome with a linear actuated lifting arm and a stationary hardox ring around the robot are the makings of this machine, and when it spins on the spot with this two wheels drive the outer ring can deliver a nasty smack. However, the 7mm all round clearance means flippers will have a field day.

In RS!!1: Easily flipped Bar-Red around in the eliminator, eventually confining it to the pit. But in the second round it met The May Tracks Has You and the tyres were spiked before No Objections was tossed over the wall and onto the camera tracks.

Created and entered by Danny Bailey, Crimson Thunder!
A 5mm hardox box with a wedge and an inverted wedge at the rear powered by LEM-130s at 36v. With one motor powering each wheel its likely they€™ll get that power down to the ground, but the inverted wedge at the rear could be a target for lifters and flippers although the sides won€™t be thanks to the hinged skirts.

                                In RS!!1: Didn€™t enter

Created and entered by Andrew Jackson, Rupture!
This simple design has an electric lifting arm that will almost certainly never stop going with the 300:1 gearing. It€™s powered by a magmotor and is designed to wear out other robots by turning them over and over again.

                                In RS!!1: Didn€™t enter

                                Roboteers, standby!

                                Booth 1: Joey McConnell
Booth 2: Danny Bailey, Alex Holt

                                5...
                                4...
                                3...
                                2...
                                1...
                                SMASH!!

Three robots, all baying for blood. Rupture is first off the mark, homing in on Crimson Thunder and trying to get around the rear to that inverted wedge, but Danny shoots off and turns to meet the oncoming challenge from Rupture, ramming into Andy and pushing the less powerful bot across the arena thanks to its higher HP as their ground clearances cancel each other out. No Objections hasn€™t done much yet, and just stays in the background waiting for an attacking opportunity to come its way. Now Rupture gets away from Crimson Thunder and gets the lifter under the rear inverted wedge and lifts Danny into the air, taking the wheels away from the ground. Crimson Thunder is helpless for a moment, but then it crashes back to the ground as it slips off Rupture€™s lifter. Now Crimson Thunder switches targets and rams into the spinning No Objections, hitting it into the wall so that a lot of the energy is dissipated into the wall and the 5mm hardox armour of Crimson Thunder is not even scratched, and now he gets right in underneath the 7mm ground clearance of No Objections and shoves Joey around the arena and passes him onto Rupture, who uses the lifting arm again and holds No Objections in the air before dragging it across the arena towards the pit! Crimson Thunder helpfully presses the pit release siren and Rupture holds No Objection s over the open pit for a few moments before lowering the lifter and allowing No Objections to slide off the wedge and into the pit of oblivion in a large puff of smoke! And after another surprisingly short match No Objections is dumped off the agenda and out of the contest.

                                CEASE!

No Objections can€™t object; Crimson Thunder and Rupture go thundering through!

I€™m here in the pits now with Joey.
Me: Did you expect that to go better?
Joey: Yes, I wanted a team-up on Rupture, but Danny didn€™t oblige.
Me: Unfortunate for you, but not for him.
Joey: Yes, and these two could go further in the heat anyway.
                                Me: We€™ll see, here€™s the round 2 line-up.

Flick of the Wrist (12) v Crimson Thunder
                                Rupture v Dante
