  • The Crash & Burn Tournament: The Dual Duels

Well done to the pair of you. System Shock and Firefly have been the underdogs of the whole competition, and its here at the finals - and no accident.
In my personal opinion, I say that Operation Devestation are going to beat SpunOut here 9in a close final.

    Good luck to everyone

For my prediction, an upset would be awesome but I dont think its going to happen. SpunOut to take the win.

          Let€™s get to business!

From Team Operation Destruction: Firefly...and...System Shock!

Booth #1: Jamie McHarg, Liam Eliot

          €œFrom Team SpunOut: Infusion Alpha€¦and€¦GeForce 4.0!€

Booth #2: Aaron Knight, Andrew Jackson

          Roboteers, stand by€¦

Sergeant Bash, the flamer, the clawer, the mean streak of an army boot teams up with Double Whamlet for the exciting conclusion!

The Final is underway, and so is the pandemonium! Infusion Alpha rockets out, kinetically boosted, to butt heads with System Shock, as GeForce 4.0 is attacked by Firefly. Andy is delighted to see this, as it coincides with his own plans. The highly impressive flipper locks together with the scoop of a very surprisingly tough lifter, and they burn their rubber on the ground, trying to gain some purchase. But it€™s GeForce who takes charge, and strains forward with all its might, pushing Firefly back bit by bit! Firefly grinds its own motors, but the pressure of GeForce is simply too much and he is slowly forced in reverse, eventually slammed back against the rear wall! GeForce however isn€™t satisfied with holding his opponent there; he€™s gotta get him out! Sadly, neither can move because of this, those clearances, or lack thereof, are making it hard on Andy and Jamie right now, neither can get a clear advantage!

It€™s System Shock and Infusion Alpha however that are really having a battle, or appear to be more than their partners. System Shock was breached by Infusion€™s wedge, and the remaining Boost is enough to slam System Shock right up against the wall and send Liam€™s tracked rammer right across the floor! System Shock however instantly recovers and chases down Infusion as it gets its rim back up to speed! Liam doesn€™t want that wedge, it wants the rim, but Aaron€™s all about the ramming power for the Final, and he won€™t let Liam find any such opportunity because that wedge is completely in Liam€™s way! System Shock turns to go around the wedge, and Infusion€™s rim is back up to speed now, as the Kinetic Boost kicks in again and Infusion smacks into the side skirt of System Shock. It breaches it as easily as the scoop and the €˜fusion€™ carries Liam€™s bot to the wall! WHAM! Oh baby, what a hit. Ouch. System Shock pounded right off the wall and almost to the center of the arena!

Andy gets an idea, and GeForce activates its flipper. This lifts Firefly€™s own scoop up, and GeForce drives forward immediately, mashing Firefly along the wall and into an empty CPZ, which GeForce enters promptly. Firefly hurriedly gets the scoop down but barely fast enough as Andy€™s flipper flies in again and slams into it, noses meeting again and canceling out. By this time Sgt. Bash has entered that CPZ and GeForce backs off, not wanting to provoke the wrath of the house robot just yet. Firefly follows but gets a slight tickle from the lick of flame from the Sergeant as he attacks GeForce back. Neither bot has been able to outmanoeuvre the other and Jamie smirks slightly upon knowing this. Andy however isn€™t giving away the merest look of contemplation and drives GeForce straight into Firefly again€¦

€¦only to be interrupted by a ram from Infusion, carrying System Shock! Firefly gets a wedgeful of his partner and seems momentarily fazed by this, allowing Infusion to ram them both, smacking them into the wall together! The nearby Double Whamlet looks very perturbed and backs further into his CPZ, obviously nervous towards approaching one of these four bots! Firefly bounces along the wall, landing upside-down and facing the wall, and Andy€™s chance is given straight away. Jamie tries to get away, but GeForce eagerly jets towards the shaken, inverted lifter, getting under Firefly, and activating the flipper, sending the scoopy lifter right over the fence!

Liam groans, but he€™s not going to give up easily! System Shock once again heads for Infusion, who heads back at him in return! WHAM! This time, the Kinetic Boost fails to boost Infusion under that scoop, and now Infusion is being pushed across the arena, the rim disabled, and it goes straight into Double Whamlet€™s CPZ! Obviously Whamlet€™s gotten over his anxiety issues because he€™s smacking into Infusion€™s WHEEL! The tire has been hit! Dead on! Mobility issues are go! GeForce chases down System Shock, who€™s still near the CPZ, and gotten under the rear skirt, tossing him over Whamlet and further into the CPZ, as Sgt. Bash comes raging out of his own corner to aid his fellow house robot. Of course, The Watcher won€™t allow things to boil over, either, so off he goes.

GeForce is trying to get at System Shock€™s who€™s trapped in the CPZ, but Infusion and Whamlet are completely blocking the way, and finally in comes the Sergeant to see them off! He rams Infusion€™s side, grappling down on it, and hauling the spinner off to his own CPZ, giving the superbot a nice broiling to boot on top of that wrecked wheel. Whamlet turns its attentions to GeForce€¦who turns its own attentions to it! Without side skirts, Whamlet€™s prey to a flipping€¦FLIP! Yep, over it goes! Sgt. Bash drops the injured Infusion and returns to the CPZ€¦only for GeForce to spin around to greet it, slip under the side, and toss it over€¦not just over, but 4 feet in the air! Poor Sgt. Bash comes straight down on the flamethrower, busting it, and System Shock is free€¦to attack GeForce. GeForce however has the wedge back and pointing at it, and they collide.

It€™s System Shock, though, who gains the lower ground and GeForce is shoved back! Andy reverses his bot, as the wheels are still on the ground, but Liam is persistant€¦just about as persistant as Infusion is! Infusion ain€™t finished off yet, it might be moving questionably but there€™s no doubt that it€™s alive! Speaking of alive, Double Whamlet has self-righted and toppled Sgt. Bash back over, ah house robot kinship€¦ But Infusion€™s Kinetic Boost is back and he€™s moving fast along the arena at an angle, trying to line up System Shock, who€™s now pushing GeForce from the side! Infusion turns around and unleashes its spinning rim now, just about the only thing it can do now, as System Shock heads towards it.

Liam however sees the tactic quite clearly and pushes GeForce in the direction of the spinning rim€¦what Aaron was expecting. Infusion spins around lightning quick and GeForce goes onto the wedge, then it spins back around, driving the rim right into System Shock€™s side!

          CRASH!!!

28kg + 2500rpm = some kind of damage to System Shock, though it€™s unclear€¦except for that dent in the side! Liam isn€™t happy about that and moves in to attack Aaron€™s weakened robot when GeForce bursts in suddenly and slides under the side skirt, tossing System Shock towards the wall! Before it can react, GeForce slides under and tosses it again! System Shock bounces off the wall and GeForce rams into onto the arena saws! BZZT! The tracks aren€™t harmed, I don€™t think, but that will score points if this goes down to the judges decision, and it may very well do so if each of these robots shows the resilience they have boasted about so far for the rest of this match! Infusion€™s rim is getting back up to speed and it stumbles towards the center of the arena where System Shock is beginning to gain the upper hand again, and GeForce is rammed again from the side. System Shock pushes GeForce towards Infusion yet again, Liam surely keen on wanting AJ to feel the hurt, and this time Infusion runs off. System Shock continues pushing GeForce across the arena and right up against the wall€¦just what Aaron was intending! Infusion backs in with the rim, and System Shock can€™t turn properly because it€™s holding GeForce on the wall!

          CRASH!!!

And that has given System Shock one hell of a rattling as the rammer gets blasted across the arena! GeForce is released and both it and Infusion go to hunt down System Shock once more. System Shock attacks GeForce again, ignoring that deadly rim for the third time, knowing that since his partner€™s gone, an OOTA flip is much more lethal! But GeForce comes off luckier and the flipper finally gets underneath the scoop, and it€™s all GeForce from here on in, as it approaches the wall, and lets out an ungodly flip. Liam€™s eyes follow his robot as it soars straight over the wall, crashes into the polycarbonate covering, and lands with a dull crash, a dull finality to what was an epic final! Liam and Jamie clap respectively for their opponents, who have just won Crash & Burn: The Dual Duels!

However, it€™s not over yet! The house robots are angry for that earlier attack, and now they converge on GeForce! Infusion however isn€™t gonna let his buddy go it alone and weakly pushes forward€¦hah! It€™s wedged Sgt. Bash, who can€™t seem to move; one wheel€™s suspended over Infusion€™s wedge, and the other one€™s€¦not, but it ain€™t touching ground! GeForce smacks into the Darkzlayer, and easily gets underneath the side clearance, tossing it over! Then, with careful precision, he lets loose another huge flip, sending the 150kg house robot straight over the fence! Andy looking on espies a stranded Sgt. Bash on a friend€™s wedge and GeForce returns to Infusion€™s side. He effortlessly gets Sgt. Bash over with another flip, then tries to get him out€¦nope. Bash won€™t go out...yet, but GeForce tries again, and this time it€™s good, as Bash - HAAAAAAAHAHAHA!!! The flamethrower is suspended on the railing, it€™s hooked on, and Sgt. Bash is holding on to it for what appears to be dear life as the camera tracks loom below. Andy and Aaron roar with laughter and high-five. GeForce and Infusion spin around in victory, they are the champions!

          CEASE!

The fire of the Firefly has burnt out, and System Shock€™s shocking upset just didn€™t happen. All€™s well that ends well though, eh Jamie, Liam?

INFUSION ALPHA & GEFORCE 4.0 WIN CRASH & BURN: THE DUAL DUELS!!!!!!!

          Standings
          1st = Infusion Alpha & GeForce 4.0 (Team SpunOut)
2nd = Firefly & System Shock (Team Operation Devastation)
3rd = Dervish V & Dead Horse Beater (Team Dunno)

And there€™s really nothing more to say about this tournament, just a few quick words though€¦thanks to everyone who joined and for putting up with slightly more than half a hypo after Heat C, just couldn€™t handle it. It€™s finally over though, so thank goodness Congrats, Aaron and Andy!

Crash & Burn 3 fights will begin in the near future, folks, so stay tuned for them, and watch out for Team Zlayerz House Robot Rebellion 3, coming soon to a forum near you€¦

And€¦this is my 4000th post. w00t for having almost no life at all.

First of all, well done to Kody for pulling this thing off. It was a cool idea, and thumbs up for giving it a go, even if the majority was hypothetical. The parts that weren€™t hypothetical were great to read. Secondly, commiserations to Liam and Jamie. I think you were pretty much the underdogs for this battle, but I wasn€™t looking forward to fighting your two vapourbots. Cheers Aaron for the team up, as well. Finally, w00t! The win makes this tournament hypothetically even better.
