Hi guys umm wats up umm i like to finished my vapours and as u all know im new so pls help here is my second incarnation of Ultimate killing machine 1
Name: Ultimate Killing Machine 1
Class: Heavyweight
Armour: 5mm titanium
Weight: 100lb
Top Speed: 15MPH
Batteries: 2600 NiMh
Drive Motors: 2x LEM130s driving titanium tracks at 48v
Weapon: Hydraulic crusher/lifter
Weapon Power Hydraulic (9tons for the crusher 2 ton for the lift
Strength: Powerful weapon good armour and speed
Weakness: Powerful spinner
2 incarnation of Ultimate killing machine
the design of my vapour is like from Storm (4 wheeled drive crusher/lifter robot) but mine is tank driven robot with the same weapon here is a link for u guys to see u will see storm so u get the idea wat my vapour looks like http://www.teamstorm.com/storm/events/newark2002/index.htmhttp://www.teamstorm.com/storm/event...2002/index.htm pls tell me wat u think on Ultimate killing machine
Armour: 5mm titanium Okay, perhaps a bit weak but alright.
Weight: 100lb Heavyweight robots are 100kgs, and according to Google 100lbs works out at 45.36kgs. Somewhat underweight :P
Batteries: 2600 NiMh This is under dispute, but for a first timer I dont think going into extreme detail about battery capacity is really needed. You have two LEM130s, so you might be better off with NiCads, six NiCad packs should do it - these weigh about 10kg I believe, could be worn but thats what Storm II uses.
Weapon: Hydraulic crusher/lifter This is a problem - with two LEMs, tracks, and Ti armour, so I dont think you can get a hydraulic crusher/lifter in the remaining weight - again, though, I could be wrong.
The main problem I see is that you appear to be taking the basic idea of real robots and modiffying things without appreciating the weight and size requirements - indeed, you havent actually specified a size. Id advise you to look at what Leo posted in the archives, and take his advice by designing something, putting it in the stats he listed, and then posting it here so we can get a better idea of things and give more constructive advice.
While youre at it, try coming up with some designs of your own too.
If you want example robots, look at the other robots on Kodys/Martis board - dont just steal them (:P) but you can see what sort of ideas weve used and draw inspiration from that.
If you want an example idea, just do a wedge shaped flipper - its fairly simple and its effective (look at Wedge Devolution, Seung Mina, GeForce, Die-Ceratops Re-Invertus, Liar, the list goes on :P)
I hope this stat is ok now
Name: Ultimate Killing Machine
Shape: Kinda like old storm with a crushing/lifting claw but tank driven and has 2 TI spikes on back
Color: Grey
Speed: 18mph
Weight: 220lbs (100kg)
Armour: 10mm TI.
Chassis: Titanium, box-section chassis
Drive: 2 LEM130s @ 36v
Power: 6 NiCad Battle Packs
Motivation: 2 titanium tracks with urethane-rubber coating for traction. Very hard to break, even the chain links.
Ground Clearance: 1mm around the front, 2mm around the sides,
Turning Circle: Zilch
Dimensions in CM (LxWxH): Unknown
Weaponry: A crushing lifting claw that can crush 9 ton and lift 2 tons powered by a modified chainsaw engine driving a hydraulic pump (Srimech: Invertible.
Strengths: Exceedingly powerful amount of force delivered by weapon, fast, powerful, well-armoured.
Weakness: Exposed tracks from the front and back
here my second vapour ill try to make my own joey
Name: Pain
Shape: Suicidal Tendencies
Color: Grey
Speed: 18MPH
Weight:220lb (100KG)
Armour: 10 Fortal Aluminum
Chassis: Titanium
Drive: 2 LEM130s
Power: 12 x 9.6-volt NiMh Radio Controlled Car Batteries, each weighing 12oz.
Motivation: 6 inner 6.5inch wheels
Turning Cirle: 0
Dimension in CM (LxWxH: Unknown
Weaponry: 2 crushing pincer (Vertical) with 14 ton pressure at the tip
Strenght: Powerful Crusher, good armour and speed
Weakness: Hates Spinners
Self-Righter: Invertible
Note: It is powered by an (1) M-Mac M40 Hydraulic Actuator running at 12v , which can give 14 tonnes of pressure. The actuator has already been used in Robotic Combat, so this robot is realistic. The crusher is custom made out of S7 tool steel and heat treated to give it maximum strength , so it can rip through Titanium easily. For the weapon to function properly, the robot contains 12 x 9.6-volt NiMh Radio Controlled Car Batteries, each weighing 12oz.
Pls tell me wat u think guys think on both of my vapours
I see nothing wrong here, except that you DO need to make the dimensions known to us all, and once again, 10 what of Fortal Aluminium...actually, I can guess its 10mm of Fortal Aluminium
And also, out of interest, what is Fortal Aluminium, as Ive never heard of it.
well paul fortal Aluminium is a type of metal thats stronger then steel its use for Industrial things and about the Dimensions umm well ineed a little help with that do u know a site that calculate dimension and stuff
Fortal is a brand name. The aluminum alloy in question is either 2024, 5086, 6081 or 7075. They are indeed stronger than steel (7075-T6 even stronger than stainless of the same thickness) but its also more brittle.
It makes for good armour and chassis building but its not easy to weld when you are at an event.
1: 10mm of armour is too heavy unless its something like HDPE - especially on robots with hydraulics, which are quite heavy. Go for at the most 7mm, or consider Hardox - its as heavy as steel, but 4mm should prtect you against most things for now.
2: You dont state what voltage the motors run at, which is imprtant if it comes down to pushing.
Other recommendations: you dont need a chainsaw engine to drive the hydraulics, you can get the same effect by using a Vivoil pump, for less weight. Also, tidy your stats up a bit - particuarly on Pain (which is a real robot from S2 by the way :P) youd be better off putting the info on the crusher in the weapons section rather than in notes. Dmensions would be good as well.
