quote of paul that is a high seeding position for Martyn
I am going to ignore that
Disco 5 (3) (me) V Shovearound 2
Ok this will be a tough fight. I shall start with my disc facing shovearound so i wont have to turn to face it straight away. I am gonna aim to bash the disc into its lifting forks as although it might not do significant damage there is a chance i can damage them. But more importantly it will knock shovearound away from me meaning it cant get close enough to push me. Hopfuly enough bashes from the disc will damage something inside. If not just keep going untill shovearound dies lol.
Disco 5 spins up its disc like spinners are keen to do, and Shovearound wastes no time ad heads towards Disco like a speeding bullet! Disco goes in reverse, keeping its disc towards Shovearound while avoiding any contact. Shovearound is just too fast and tackles Disco at its front-corner, just outside the reach of that lethal disc! Towards the wall Shovearound goes!
CLANG!
Shovearound slams Disco against the wall fiercely, but in the meantime comes in contact with that vertical disc!
CRASH!
Shovearound€™s front is hit and the entire body of Tony€™s rambot moves upwards and onto its back! Tony€™s marvellous machine works just as good when inverted though, and the damage done is close to non-existent. Disco quickly heads to the shaken Shovearound and attacks its rear€¦
RATTLE RATTLE RATTLE!!!
Disco€™s flywheel hits massive Hardox rear-skirt and knocks it upwards, forming a highly creative rattle in the process. Shovearound accelerates forward, its rear-skirt SLIGHTLY dented. The rambot makes a U-turn to face Martyn€™s mighty spinner again, which eagerly awaits that rambot with its flywheel spinning aggressively. Shovearound comes in, steers, and heads towards Disco€™s side. Martyn turns but Shovearound is quicker right there. Shovearound forks try to penetrate Disco€™s side, but Disco has some nice sprung skirts there! Shovearound fails but still pushes Disco sideways! Disco responds with a quick turn around and its disc hits Shovearounds forks!
CRASH!
Shovearound is swept backward slightly, but those forks receive a good hitting! Disco accelerates forwards€¦
CRASH!
Shovearound hardly recovered from one attack and there€™s the next one already! Disco wants to have another go but Shovearound is slightly quicker to recover this time. The FFW-champ quickly moves backwards and seemingly out of danger. Disco comes in, but so does Shovearound right now. As a matter of fact, Shovearound succeeds in hitting Disco€™s front corner€¦ and gets underneath the skirt right there! Tony accelerates his machine and activates the forks. Nothing happens!
CLANG!
Nothing happens until the arena-wall is reached, that is! Still, Shovearound€™s forks are out of action, a great bummer for Tony. Disco ends up at Shovearound€™s side after being slammed against the wall, and comes in from there!
CRASH!
Shovearound€™s side-skirt receives a hit, paint€™s scratched off, and Shovearound is inverted!
One awesome battle it was, even the judges seem to agree with that.
Damage: Disco 5 (3) ((7 out of 10)*2=14)
Shovearound 2 ((4 out of 10)*2= Aggression: Disco 5 (3) ((7 out of 10)*1.5=10.5)
Shovearound 2 ((7 out of 10)*1.5=10.5) Control: Disco 5 (3) ((6 out of 10)*1=6)
Shovearound 2 ((7 out of 10)*1=7) Style: Disco 5 (3) ((6 out of 10)*0.5=3)
Shovearound 2 ((7 out of 10)*0.5=3.5)
Disco 5 (3): 14+10.5+6+3=33.5
Shovearound 2: 8+10.5+7+3.5=29
Shovearound 2 couldn€™t impress the judges Disco 5 (3) goes through to the semi-finals!
Coming next: Heat C
Flank Attack: DT (5) vs SOR 5.5 vs Snakebite IV
Tempest Evileroution vs Metal Sonic Spin Dash vs Star 69
Gimme your predictions, gimme your tactics, gimme your thoughts
Interesting draw for this fantastic heat! The robot Im actually not looking forward to facing in this match is Snakebite. That low clearance and decent armour is not something Im going to try and crack. Fortunately for me the seeded robot in this match is just the sort of thing SOR can have some fun with. So Ill be targeting the seeded robot in this round and try to boot it out right away. First things first, those wheels! Ill be aiming to take the rubber off those wheels with my spinner as much as possible, and without any traction Flank Attack is almost rendered useless. Next, have some fun with the flipper. You dont get 50mm ground clearance to play with very often, so Im gonna make the most of it and flip this thing around all over the place. Then in terms of defence, it can grab me all it likes! It actually has no motors so Ill just presume Bosch 750s just in case. In which case, if it wants to grab me thats fine because I can shove it around all day long. Tactics? I suggest me and Snakebite target those exposed wheels with our spinners and once the tractions gone, flip it around and if I get bored get it OOTA.
For the other melee in the Heat of Death I can see maybe Star 69 going out first. This heat should be good fun to see.
HEAT C
ROUND 1 METAL SONIC SPIN DASH VS Star 69 VS Tempest Evil-er-oution
Boooooo.
Getting in a shoving match with Star 69 probably wont achieve much, so Im going to go nuts and go for Tempest. With the greater top speed, I should be able to keep up with the slippery spinner as it dances around trying to kill me. The plan is to ram Tempest rear-first to stop the blades (and stop my saw flying off). As it starts spinning up again, Ill twirl around and drive underneath. From there, smash it into walls, Martyns machine or the pit.
Oh and avoid Star 69 if I can avoid it. Which I probably cant. In which case, try the same thing on it.
Hmm, this looks to be a difficult bout. Well, if SOR wants some of me, he can have it :P
From what I remember of SOR, I feel that the best option would be to keep my arms facing it at all times. I dont want to give him any shots at my wheels. His back should give some nice area to grip, and could pincer down; maybe even crushing some armor into his wheels (maybe, I need to see some stats first so I can update these tactics a little)
If he comes at me with the disc, use my differential turning to face him and keep my back to the wall. If he comes at me with the wedge, then go at him full speed. My plan here is that (with my back against the wall) I will go up and over SORs body and land behind him while he comes crashing into the wall. (My acceleration and velocity would be fast enough to go over him before his flipper fires, I believe. If not, it would only flip me away from the wall do to my direction). I will then turn around immediatly and put my pincers to work, crumpling his backside. Hopefully.
And, if Snakebite would like to team up with me to take down this piece of work, all the better
Ill team up with Andy for this one, if thats OK with him - Ill stick to the spinning bar, aiming for the wheels, and let Andy have his fun with the flipper!

Hmm, I do believe my crushers should get through to his back wheels, or at the very least do some damage. Im no expert on this so its pretty much writers discretion :P
I would also like to mention that his backside should fit very nicely in my plow, despite his spinner, should he choose to come at me from that angle. My plow has taken worse damage from other spinners, so Im sure it would stand up to his.
Im a bit dismayed that I have forgotten what kind of motors to put on Flank Attack, but then its one of my older robots when I had a little less detail :P If Martijn would be so kind, I would like to make my own choice for motors. If not, however, the ones Andy chose would be fine, even if he did probably choose them specifically to have less torque than his ones :P
