      Hmmm...

      Tempest Evil-er-oution (14) vs. Wheely Big Cheese vs. Big Nipper: I guarantee that Wheely Big Chesse or Big Nipper will go out. Tempest Evolution is definitely going through.

      Back to Rock 2 vs. Disc-O-Inferno vs. GigaByte Evilution: I think Back to Rock will surely go through, and probably... Gigabyte is going out.

        Got tactics from Frank, Martijn, and Andy, and stuff for Big Nipper. Lets kick this heat off!

        Tempest Evil-er-oution (14) vs. Wheely Big Cheese vs. Big Nipper

        Tempest Evil-er-oution (14)
        is more of a hit than William Shakespeares comedy play. This invertible full-body-spinner deliberately bounces off of things it hits with the 6cm blades it will use today, attached to its 2000rpm spinning shell. 8mm titanium for the ring and an 10mm Aluminium top/bottom make up the armour, while S28-300 MagMotors make up the drive. Its wheels are exposed however they wont take too much damage thanks to being foam-filled, but it has lack of control.
        C&BT1: Won a controversial decision against ForcePower 5.0 and then lopped off Tengu VIIs wheels, but a toss from 6th seed Die-Ceratops Re-Invertus sent the 14th seed over the fence in the Heat G Final.

        Wheely Big Cheese is a big cheese of a robot. Its got a titanium flipper and wheels with spikes, and has performed the greatest flip in robot combat history: against Axe Awe in Series 5, launching it over the wall from the centre of the arena. However Hypno-Disc tore it apart easily in Extreme 1; will it suffer the same fate here against a more powerful spinner?
        C&BT1: Did not enter.

        Big Nipper is Complete Control and Kan-Opener at the same time. It can get under you, clamp you, push you around, and then some. Titanium armour and invertibility help it in its course, but despite it weighing the full 100kg, it can be flipped very easily: not a good thing against one of the most powerful flippers in Robot Wars, and it has a very boxy shape which can be taken advantage of by spinners.

        Its spinner against flipper against lifter/crusher, unique match-up for weapons here, and the 14th seed is the first to move, spinning up its blades. Big Nipper makes a beeline for him already, hoping to stop the shell in mid spin-up but its no good!
        CRASH!
        Mark Lumbs robot is sent for a loop, but so is Tempest, sliding away leaving it perfectly open to a flip, and WBC is already there...he slides under the 14th seed! FLIP! Oh, an ungodly flip given to Tempest, not unlike Die-Ceratops attempt last tournament, and the cylinder is launched across the arena, near the pit release. Frank shakes his head, hes definitely not going to make the same mistake again. As Tempest lands, he is tackled by an incoming Big Nipper with its side buckled. Tempest is smushed into the wall and lifted, but in comes the Cheese, with another giant flip, this time to Big Nipper! FLIP! The Nipper is sent spinning into the air, thoomping down onto its back, as Tempest gets away from the realies in an attempt to spin up. WBC isnt fooled and follows the cylinder, and sticks its snout in, only for Tempest to move to the side and smash its fully-spun-up shell into the side near the wheel!
        CRASH!!!
        Its Tempest who is knocked away, but hes not taken the worst of it, thankfully! Alex looks concerned now, espying the sizable gash made on the side of the flipper, but cant catch a breather, for Big Nippers after him! Dave smiles and lifts the Cheese into the air by the bottom of the flipper, however one of WBCs wheels stays on the ground and he manages to slip off and away. Big Nipper chases after him, but WBC has reached Tempest again, who moves away, but its Big Nipper who goes forward, right at WBCs wheel, and Tempest does an about face as the axlebot is slammed into the wall, the pincers lifting it into the air! Frank laughs, seeing his opponents fighting each other, but decides to add to the chaos by moving Tempest directly into the uplifted WBCs flipper!
        CRASH!!!
        WBC is pounded, the titanium dented badly, yet again Tempest tosses himself. Big Nipper decides to give up on WBC and chases after Tempest instead...however I think that Frank just gave Alex the death blow! No movement from the flipper! Big Nipper catches Tempest, who already has gotten to speed, and they meet.
        CRASH!!!
        Sparks fly, bots also fly! Tempest, at least, flies, right across the pit and into the wall! Big Nipper is sent in a pirouette, more titanium being mangled, but manages to pursue Tempest again. By this time The Watcher has gotten bored of the proceedings and starts to count WBC out.
        1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10!

        CEASE!

        Back to Rock 2 vs. Disc-O-Inferno vs. GigaByte Evilution

        Back to Rock 2
        is back and ready to rock. It has a big hydraulic lifter that can easily lift 200kg, and a Pussycat-style blade in the flipping plate, which lifts with the flipper, and can cut armour and tires. Its basically a 6mm titanium box with a slightly sloped front, and is powered by Etek motors @ 48v. Its quite nippy at 18mph, but the srimech may prove to be too slow. Will he truly rock you? Youll have to find that out yourself.
        C&BT1: Did not enter.

        Disc-O-Inferno is the Extreme 1 version fighting in this tournament, having won the Southern Annihilator. Its invertible and has a good horizontal spinning disc which runs at 3000rpm. It is not, however, a well-armoured bot, nor is it fast, and its edges could be smashed, grabbed, or flipped. Will Disc-O-Inferno flash his last groove?
        C&BT1: Current champion Salamander III destroyed it in Heat H Round 1.

        Gigabyte Evilution is another Tough As Nails clone. LEM130 Lynch motors power the two hardox wheels at the back, wrapped in vulkalon rubber. It also sports a 5mm hardox monocoque. Like TAN, it has a pair of pneumatic pincers, capable of giving 3.5 tonnes of pressure at the tip, and the ends are sharpened with titanium to slice into opposing robots armour. It works just as well the other side up, but it can be tossed easily despite this, and it definitely can be stacked...
        C&BT1: Went into the pit thanks to 2nd seed Clawdius Decimus Murderous in Heat D Round 1.

        Another set of unique weapons. However its Back to Rock who lunges towards Disc-O-Inferno, who doesnt seem to realize the fight has started yet.
        CRASH!
        His disc, however, has, and its made a nice dent in the front lifter of Back to Rock, however it hasnt stopped Martijns bot from its advance! Gigabyte moves forwards for the first time and rolls off towards the pair, as Martijns bot, heading for the wall, lifts the lifter, tilting Disc-O-Inferno up, and straight into the wall! WHAM! Chris shudders as Disc-O-Inferno bounces along the wall...and onto the wall! Its stuck! Gigabyte backs into the pit release nearby, activating it - oh, Back to Rock got hit by the arena saws! BZZT! Nice sparks, but that doesnt seem to have done anything to the underside, and Martijn breathes a sigh of relief. Andy drives forward and towards the stranded Disc-O-Inferno, and opens the pincers, but The Watcher shunts Gigabyte aside, wanting to make a countdown! Gigabyte isnt too happy about being shoved aside, and takes it out by grabbing the referee around the sides and turning towards the open pit! That triggers the house robots anger, and Tira and Exa-Gore-Ic immediately are released! Back to Rock collides with Exa-Gore-Ics front pincers, and tries to lift...no go. Tira however has a go at Gigabyte, who turns with the ref in his pincers - theres the red card! Let the ref go! Andy sulks, and Gigabyte opens the pincers, allowing The Watcher to go - straight into Tiras blade!
        CRASH!
        The Watcher is spun away by his own teammate! - DOWN INTO THE PIT! What a bit of comic relief this is! Gigabyte takes this opportunity to attack the green psychopath, and the claws find the ring...and are foiled by it. However Tira is pushed against the wall and held there. Exa-Gore-Ic is trying to throw Back to Rock off, but Martijn is rather pushy, and trying to push the 400kg bot to the pit...but still, no go. Disc-O-Inferno looks lonely, and without a refbot to count it out, it is still in the running. Gigabyte shoves Tira off the wall and makes a wide U-turn...slamming Tira into Exa-Gore-Ics other side! House robot sandwich, anyone? Martijn lifts again, and succeeds! A little, at least, as Exa-Gore-Ic is thrown up onto the edge of the top, and held there, and finally Back to Rock is able to push the house robot, as Gigabyte backs off. Tira actually pushes Back to Rock in the side without her blade functional, trying to free her teammate but Gigabyte tackles her again and pins her on the wall. And...right on top of the Watcher! Martijn spies Disc-O-Inferno along the wall, and travels over there. Chris frantically tries to work the controls, but Back to Rock expertly slides the arm under, and lifts...lifts...OUT! Disc-O-Inferno is finally out, of the arena, that is. Back to Rock turns to help Gigabyte finish off Tira, but...

        CEASE!

        Disc-O-Inferno should get a job at the nearest roller rink.
        Back to Rock 2 and Gigabyte Evilution advance to Round 2!

          Tempest Evil-er-oution (14) vs. Back to Rock 2: I believe here that Martijns armour is going to be resistant enough to combat the 14th seed and pit it. Goodbye Frank! :wink:

          Gigabyte Evilution vs. Big Nipper: The reason I believe Big Nipper is going to win here is that I saw a Roaming Robots competition in Folkestone in 2005. I saw a friendly battle between Big Nipper and Tough As Nails, which Big Nipper won by getting its claw around the wheels and keeping hold, before stacking it directly on its side, and I predict something similar will happen here. True GigaByte might have more power, but you can still outpush a 100hp robot () if you get all its traction off the ground. Go Big Nipper!

            Tempest Evil-er-oution VS Back to Rock: Hmm... this is hard to decide. Well, Disc-o-Inferno has got some nice dents on Back to Rock, so... I think that Tempest will win... but if Back to Rock gets under and chews Tempest up, Frank will take the train home! What I do know, is that this battle will be very close.

              I need to concentrate on dodging Back to Rocks first charge to make sure I get spun up. After that, hell find it very hard closing Tempest down before it can spin up enough to create distance. Lots of nice flat surfaces to aim at, so I should do some good damage here.

                Big Nipper won by getting its claw around the wheels and keeping hold, before stacking it directly on its side, and I predict something similar will happen here

                Now if only GigaBytes wheels were external, that plan might work again. The stacking thing doesnt bother me in the slightest, I can just fire the claws and bounce back down.

                The tactic here is very simple, get hold of that boxy shape and shove it where I please. I have more traction and I have more pushing power, so feeding it to the hazards should be no problem. My claws should also do some pretty nice damage to those nice flat Titanium side pannels. It can grip me and lift me all it likes. Those claws arent going through 5mm Hardox and Im invertible. Open the pit, grab it, out push it, pit it. Its as simple as that!

                    But surely AJ, having wheels on the inside of a FBC (Full-body crusher, hey - Ive come up with a new term ) will surely make GigaByte unbelievably cumbersome whn the claws are closed. Why even have them on the inside, as the wheels are indestructable?

                    Given that Big Nipper then has the more control and is much more dextrus, it still can outpush you if it raises all your traction off the ground. And also, because your armour weighs so much, you must have weigh-down holes - Big Nipper can get the claws into those holes and boss you around the ring.

                    PS. Yay for me inventing the term FBC!

                      The wheels are on the inside so that they can not be damaged by spinners. Why would this make GigaByte more cumbersome? Nothing in vapourbots is indestructable, certainly not wheels. I put them inside for two reasons - to protect them and to try and enable the drive to be closer to the thing I am pushing about to provide added control.

                      How have you worked out that Big Nipper has more control? Obviously, yes, if it lifts my wheels of the ground I wont be able to outpush it. But am I just going to let it pick me up and drive me around? Not likely.

                      And please, please, please stop this weight reducing holes fetish. There is no way what-so-ever GigaByte will have weight reducing holes in it. It is a specifically designed spinner killer, not a specifically designed crushing collinder! Therefore it cannot get its claws into my solid armour and boss me about the ring.

                        ripped Wheely Big Cheese to shreds, and giving Big Nipper a few battle scars in the process.

                        Back to Rock 2 stacked Disc-O-Inferno on the arena wall early, and then he lifted the discbot OOTA after some fun with the house robots.

                        Back to Rock flies across the ring, with hopes of taking out that spinning ring of Tempest at the start, but Frank is just able to slink away, and Back to Rock crashes into the wall behind: not good. Now Tempest is up to speed, and Martijn, turning Back to Rock to face Tempest, looks wary, deciding on the best place to hit Tempest...but thats pretty hard considering that Tempest is coming right at him!
                        CRASH!!!
                        Back to Rock is pounded, and Tempest blown backwards, and the damage report: Tempest shaken, and Back to Rock with the lifting plate badly dented! Tempest spins up again, and Back to Rock knows nothing better to pray to God, and box rush!
                        CRASH!!!
                        Its the sawblade that takes the hit this time, and bent off its axle, not able to function properly, yet it hardly moved Back to Rock at all, but again Tempest is flung away. Back to Rock travels over to where Tempest is just beginning to spin up and rams him. Tempest bounces away a little and tries to move back, but Back to Rock catches him! Up goes the lifter! And...WHAM! Tempest, held into the air, is rammed against the wall! And Tempest is held, slung onto the wall, and Back to Rock lowers the lifter...but Tempest slides off. Back to Rock turns and shunts Tempest back at the wall, but he forgot about the angle grinder being there. Tempest smashes against it, and lands on his back beside Martijns lifter. Immediately he turns tail and spins up. Back to Rock realizes his mistake and goes after Tempest, but too late: 2000rpm has been achieved by Tempest!
                        CRASH!!!
                        Both bots fly in opposite directions, but Back to Rock is looking worse for wear, the lifter now torn open a little, and Tempest has been given more breathing room to spin up again. Back to Rock isnt going to let this one get away and goes after the spinner again in another brave attempt, as Tempest now moves towards him as well.
                        CRASH!!!
                        Back to Rock is smashed away again, and now the lifting mechanism is torn right open, exposing the mechanics inside! Frank smiles a little, but Martijn is looking panicked at this point. Back to Rock spins around and exposes the rear end, and without another movement box rushes the full-speed Tempest once more!
                        CRASH!!!
                        The rear panel of the 6mm titanium box is ripped clean off by the brute force of the 14th seed! Back to Rock does not appear to be moving...at all! Frank notices this, and decides to spare Martijn by going over to the pit release button - OH! Tempest is nailed by the arena saws and is sent for a little ride! Mmm...sparksy... anyway Tempest reaches the pit release, poking it with one of the hooks, and guess what? The pit opens. WAIT! Back to Rock is moving again! Frank is indeed surprised, but not in any danger, as Back to Rock is not moving very quickly...Tempest is spinning up the shell again, and by the time Back to Rock has reached him, its back at full speed.
                        CRASH!!!
                        The hook catches the side of the front and tears it wide open, and out comes a battery! And yes, Back to Rock has stopped moving again! Hes right near the pit, however, and Tempest, coming back from his usual spin across the arena comes back nd tackles the rocker down the pit.

                        CEASE!

                        Back to Rock 2 is not rock solid at all!
                        Tempest Evil-er-oution (14) advances to the Heat J Final!!

                        let Back to Rock 2 do away with Disc-O-Inferno while he had a little, er, fun with Tira-san.

                        Big Nipper survived the match with Tempest Evil-er-oution when Wheely Big Cheese got shredded into biscuit toppings.

                        Taki-san and Asterix Heroicus are the house robots this time around. Nyah.

                        Both clampers go forward and right at each other. Theres no WHAM however, as Big Nipper has gotten under Gigabyte from the front, right between the jaws, and throws him into the wall! Theres the WHAM! Gigabyte clamps but its too late, as Big Nipper gets away. Gigabyte chases him, but meets the lifting pincers head-on and immediately closes his own pincers, catching the Titanium sides, as Big Nipper lifts. Big Nipper lifts itself, and Gigabytes pincers sink into the sides, piercing through the titanium and into the innards! Big Nipper suddenly tilts back, lifting Gigabyte off the ground, and Big Nipper goes for the pit release! WHAM! Gigabyte is slammed into the button and again the siren goes off as our evil hole appears. Big Nipper decides that it much rather wants those lovely tires and heads over to the arena saws. All of a sudden, Gigabyte does a tilt himself, lifting Big Nipper up, but the saws come up and BZZT! Ooh, major saw hit to Gigabyte! This also puts Big Nipper on the ground again and lifts Gigabyte back up, but Big Nipper lowers the clamps and back goes Gigabyte onto the saws! BZZT! Ooh, pretty sparks. Gigabyte pushes back but Big Nipper activates the lifter again and lifts himself allowing Gigabyte to smash it into the wall. WHAM! Ah! Gigabytes pincers come unstuck from the sides of Big Nipper! We have a good fight again! Big Nipper heads for Gigabytes left pincer and collides with it, lifting it up and pushing Gigabyte back onto the saws! BZZT! Uh oh! The rubber one of Gigabytes tires has been shredded, and traction will definitely be hindered! BZZT! Big Nipper goes over the saws this time, and more sparks! OOH!!! Big Nippers rear end, near the bottom, has been brutalized by the saws! What damage! Gigabyte comes back in and slams into Big Nipper, but unable to get around those lifters, which haul Gigabyte up, and Gigabytes own pincers, near the ground, actually hook under Big Nippers own sides, pinning them in that position, but its Big Nipper who pushes his fellow clamper towards Taki-sans CPZ! Taki charges under Gigabyte and into his claws, still snagged around Big Nippers underbelly, and throws the both of them away, freeing Gigabyte. Gigabyte wobbles back towards, Big Nipper, traction suffering, and successfully gets to the side, and the jaws clamp! However Big Nipper gets the lifter in the way, and lifts itself from the ground, right off of Gigabytes claws! This means that Gigabyte cant get a proper hold on the real robot, and Big Nipper hangs by one of the pincers. Gigabyte decides to feed him some wall anyway. WHAM! Big Nipper is mashed against it with force, but bounces away and out of the grasp of Gigabyte. Gigabyte follows him, still wobbling a little. Big Nipper outmanoeuvres Andys machine and sliding under one of the claws lifts him, only the same way he would have from the front! This results in Gigabyte again escaping, and then ramming Big Nipper from the side! Big Nipper lowers the lifter onto one of the incoming pincers and vaults over the other one clumsily, Gigabyte turning and feeding it to another wall. WHAM. Big Nipper however is now facing the side of Gigabyte and getting under that pincer pushes him into the wall! WHAM! The clamps lift! Gigabyte is gripped by the clampers now, taken backwards, and - BZZT! Oh, Big Nipper takes another blow from the arena saws! Gigabyte is dropped! BZZT! Gigabyte takes a hit now! Its all really been the saws that have inflicted the most damage here. Heres the lifter of Big Nipper again, towards Gigabytes front end, and they collide, Gigabyte actually overshooting and landing on top of Big Nipper, meaning the pincers can do absolutely nothing at all! Big Nipper charges, lifting up his trophy (not THAT trophy! ) and heading to the pit! Gigabytes wheels turn and find the edges of Big Nippers front, but Dave seeing whats about to happen turns to face the pit with the backside, sending Gigabyte tumbling...down! BOOM!

                        CEASE!

                          *phew* Something of a relief here, as I really didnt want to face up against Gigabyte!

                          I should be able to spin up to dangerous speeds before Big Nipper can get near, so Ill aim for those nice flat sides of Big Nipper, as I should be able to tear through and do some real damage there. Also, if I can hit the claws, they should be bent out of shape, so also do that if I get an opportunity.

                            Bah, lets get it over and done with.

                            got here through a beating on Wheely Big Cheese, and then a beating on Back to Rock 2.

                            Big Nipper got through by surviving the bout with Tempest, and then shoving Gigabyte Evilution in the pit.

                            Its on, as Big Nipper comes out fast to stop Tempests spin-up, but has as much luck as Back to Rock did, as Tempest smartly evades the initial charge, and reaches maximum destructive potential! Look, you cant even see the hooks, its spinning so fast. Anyway Big Nipper decides to lower the clamps and rush right into the maelstrom that is Tempest!
                            CRASH!!!
                            Bot tango! Both bots spin away, Tempest a bit further, and Big Nipper receiving a wide gash in the right side of the front as a result. Tempest hurriedly spins the shell up but Big Nipper heads towards him...and is again foiled as Tempest nimbly avoids that too. Frank brings Tempest back into action as the FBS attacks Big Nippers side. Big Nipper tries to pull away, but its way too late!
                            CRASH!!!
                            Another deadly blow, and again the competitors are sent away in another vicious twirl! Its now become clear who is currently is charge of the battle, as Big Nipper finds the titanium side ripped wide open thanks to those deadly hooks! Tempest is spinning up again, but Big Nipper heads instead for the pit release, possibly thinking of putting the 14th seed into the abyss. WHAM. You know the drill: button hit, pit goes down. Tempest is approaching Big Nipper now, so Big Nipper faces him with the rear, and throws his butt in Tempests path!
                            CRASH!!!
                            Some sparks were caused by that collision, receiving more whoops from the crowd, even more than the third occurrence of the flinging of bots across the arena. Big Nipper is looking very beat-to-crap now, the rear end with a ugly gash to match the ones on the front and side! Whats worse about this is that he seems to have lost some control! Tempest is again spinning up, and approaching Big Nipper, who races away, and crashes into the wall near the pit release. Tempest follows him, and avoids the arena saws that pop up beside him. Big Nipper tries to circle the pit AND NEARLY GOES IN! Tempest swings around the side and catches the berserk Big Nipper in the other side!
                            CRASH!!!
                            Big Nipper is sent flailing away again, as is Tempest, but not looking good at all, torn up from all sides, the side just hit battered really bad! Big Nipper is still quite functional though, and tries to ram Tempest but just misses, Tempest moving out of danger, and full spun up comes crashing into one of the sides again!

                            Ah, can you just taste the destruction? Internals ahoy! Big Nippers mechanics are strewn across the arena and its safe to say that this battle is pretty much done. The Watcher counts the remains of Big Nipper out as Tempests shell comes to a stop.

                                This is the fight everyone came to see.

                                Im pretty sure Ive got the advantage in the pushing department for this match. The real trouble is picking who to go for. Mousey has the bigger ground clearance, but Crash doesnt have any fur to clog up my spinning blade.
