would a speed adjuster with a servo be like a speed controller?

No. That little box just outputs what your Rx would if you where moving the sticks on your Tx, only you're twisting a little knob.

This does remind me though, has anyone ever used Passive Speed Controllers? Like you used to get in old RC cars?

in IKEA where they sell £1 chopping boards.
they also sell 10aa batteries for £1 good for powering a transmitter.
the chopping boards are really bendy, would they be ok with some steel over them?
(i know my robots wood but I'm planning for the future)

I think as was proved at the champs chopping boards are a good source of cheap plastic but if they hit a spinner the appear to shatter, however at most events they should be fine probably even without the steel

bare in mind those batteries are cheap for a reason, i would change the tx to run off a rechargable tx nimh battery easy to do

            Botbitz help needed.
i got my escheap85s yesterday but they came with no instructions.
i have used single channel speedos before with not much problem.
but they don't even tell you what are the motor or battery wires.
i take it the side with the red wire on is for battery's red=+ black=-
but i also need ti know will i need a failsafeing receiver?
i will be using a giant cod TX.
            thanks
and what's the board atatchment quotta?
that's what comes up when i try to send an attachment.
they're not much of questions but i don't want to blow it up that's all.
i will look over 360s build and check for the wiring.

the red and black wires are the battery power wires. the two black wires go to the motor. just swap them round if the motor goes the wrong way. Think you'll need a Rx with fail-safe (might be wrong though)
