Nah, even next year Drumroll will be my main entry. Doesn't feel right going to a full-combat event without a spinner, just wish it could be a 1 driver/2 robots policyOriginally posted by razerdave View PostMaybe next year Jamie....Axe attack melee anyone ?
But I'll be up for an axe meleƩ this year if others are game and there is time.

Nice work Sam, looks to be running pretty well. Loving the increase in axe robots in the champs this year, just wish I was running Onyx in the main event now!

Oh, go on with the tests. But there are 2 things you should fear.
A bicycle and a carboard box. We have seen both immobilizing heavies.

Sorry Mario i should have explained, i wasn't trying to turn it into a flipper i was just using it as a flipper robot shaped thing that the axe could hit

I think you're a few years to late.
The Rex Garrod challenge , a starter class mandated these kind of setups, powered with pressurised cokebottles @50 psi.
(of Cassius Fame, and together with Arfa, one of the elder gods of Robot Wars I worship.)

I think you've got a point there Mario, something to look at for the future, but for now i found an old foot pump and thought "hey that looks remotely flipper shaped let's see what happens!", apparently this happens

There is a reason Team RCC uses EC 3 and 5 connectors, or directly soldered connections.

Phew! crisis averted it was infact just a bad connection and the axe is now working perfectly again

I think it's just a duff connection to the speed controller i.e one of the bullet connectors obviously wasn't soldered on very well , i'll redo it and HOPEFULLY that will work

Try running the motor directly from the battery. If it runs, it could be a dead speedo. The electronize are relay based, that is the click you're hearing.
Or it may be as innocent as a loose lead somewhere.
You can also check the speedo for life by metering its outputs.
edit: then again if you got a buzz then it's more likely the motor, yes. Does it appear to try and rotate? Or no movement at all? Is it very hot/was their smoke?Last edited by Ellis; 28 March 2014, 13:39.
