Quick test of the axe as it stands ATM. It seems a lot faster and more responsive now that the chain set up is sorted, this is on about 2 3rds charge but i'll get a better video tomorrow on full charge. Ignore my spaz attack at one point my finger slipped off the stick http://s921.photobucket.com/user/mrs...d262c.mp4.html

I've given the axe a quick test today as I've fiddled with the chain tension, I seem to have got it just in the sweet spot, the axe now hits much harder so I'm a little more confident about it doing some damage

I see myself either driving into the pit or straight into nicks beater tbh my driving is terrible and electronize are crap, I doubt either of you have any reason to worry about getting hit by the axe

I must admit that arena hazards are my Kryptonite, so I plan to win as many fights as possible well before the pit opens.

You can spin up all you want, won't matter when you're in the pit
(This is coming from a completely inexperienced roboteer by the way!)

I will just spin up and stay in my corner while you decide who wants the first air time.

It's the perfect plan!
, it should be a good fight either way, hopefully i'll get a few whacks on his "ahem 3mm polycarb
top"

Spent today putting Hatchet fully back together and just generally checking everything is how i want it, all that's left to do now is make up a cradle of some sort, a top panel and knock up a couple of spare chains. Here it is just having a pre test charge...

What Dave said, tbh the front scoop is only to help get underneath other robots to help with pushing and to stop the front of the robot jumping when i fire the axe it provides very little in the way of 'armour', the ali at the back is just to brace the corners so a spinner couldn't get so much of a grip and pull the join out. The back and sides will be getting some 11mm polycarb as extra armour so hopefully Hatchet should stand up.

It's Ali at the back, only brackets holding on the HDPE plate. The front is only 2mm stainless (better than nothing). I should have made it from something thicker.
