Power Light
All Featherweights, Lightweights, Middleweights, Heavyweights and Super Heavy Weights, must have at
least one surface mounted non-filament power light that is illuminated when power is supplied to the robot
(i.e. when the link is in). The power light can be any colour but must be non-flashing and be in contrast with
it's surroundings.
I use a 24v LED from Technobots the same type in all my robots Heavy and feather so if one
breaks the spare I carry fits all.
If you keep it near the link it makes it easier to see during activation and easier to wire up.
Thanks, will that light be seen from out side the robot? or just when you look inside it to put the link in?
It's a safety light to warn arena marshals that the batteries are still connected to the motor circuits. So the first option - visible as far away as possible.
Where do you get a holder for the led bulb like in the photo above. I have 8mm led s but a holder like in the photo above is a great idea. I've checked techno bots but can't find any.
Thanks
Because lots of the bits are from the New Tron things are moving quite quickly at the moment
soon I have to build the new drive systems for the wheels this will slow me down a bit
but there is no rush as we have no events to go to for a while.
Some pictures of the drive unit for one of the wheels. The large belt pulley has the bearings fitted into it so the
stub axle will be fixed (just a bolt though it will be 12mm diameter so I don't expect it to bend!) also the wheel
retaining bolts will screw straight into it, so there is no need for a separate wheel hub thus saving weight.
the drive unit is the faithful Bosch 35w motor. this will be run at the standard 12v, the reduction ratio is
a little over 5:1
I am hoping it will prove a little more reliable than the expensive things that only lasted one fight!
