I would say that 2 for a tenner is definitely better than 1 for a tenner .

I really need to contact someone in the hydraulics know-how. I will do that today so I can get back to you ASAP . If they give me the all clear, you're on

Very small update just because I haven't done one in a while.

Eric Jr and Cicatrix will hopefully be appearing at a local charity event on Saturday, along with 2 of the Combat Penguin Antweight kits.

        Cicatrix:

Sources some bits for the drum pod but still on the hunt for a few things for it, hope to get it done before the next UK FW Champs, having a rambot is becoming a bit boring (even if I only have had 6 fights with it). Its running on an XL and XXL in each pod at the moment, pretty quick, pretty powerful but the electrics are stupidly complicated and strangely putting a spinner on will actually simplify it.

        Eric Jr:

Hasn't ever really worked very well, one of the motors is LOUD and it really needs new wheels. Also the battery has died so will need a new one. Looking to build an outer HDPE coat for him too, which will allow me to keep the polycarbonate shell for education projects as it lets people see into the internal workings of the bot.

So basically, after saturday i'll be taking it all apart to replace/repair the various problems it has and also removing the LED's from the front.

        Eric, Scar:

Haven't done a lot to them really, not had the time and won't have the ability to do anything until a few months time due to my ankle problem

        Daiske II:

Leaving that to me team now, will have to wait and see what happens there.

Thats pretty much everything I think as far as the robots are concerned, I will leave you with an ebay purchase I was quite chuffed to come across:

I realise that it currently looks nothing like Eric, but thats where the Robo-Coat comes in

I think it was a term Jamie coined, basically its a 6mm HDPE layer of armour that goes over the 10mm polycarb to make it a bit more spinner proof and can be easily removed to leave the polycarb for educational shows as it allows you to see inside at whats happening. I just need to get around a few problems with it, for example the door on the top right section that opens for putting the link in and turning the CO2 on/off, dump valve access etc. Obviously access is still needed to that section.

CO2! I want authentic Eric with hydraulics.

Eric might not even be hydraulic for much longer, haven't decided yet, I can't really do any work on any of them for the next 6 weeks anyway . Without the accumulator its gonna be a really slow lifter too.

Too heavy and expensive in a FW, the LP system has a good kick to it as it is, something like 120kg at the ram, and thats with no buffer tank. Will possibly add a long coil of tubing to act as a buffer tank instead as we'll be very close to the weight limit with this Robo-Coat as it is. 12.8kg just now I think.

Ah is that how Eric's flipper worked, it had an accumulator. I take it they're now banned.

Coil of piping, that's a neat alternative to a buffer tank.

They are banned yes. It would work without it, I haven't tried yet, but I imagine it would be very slow.

Cheers, can't remember who/what gave me that idea but I just don't have room for another tank so seems like the best solution

Theres a little problem with the coil of pipeing idea, it's that you will need about 2m worth of say 10mm pipe to act as an efective buffer, and you need to some how incorporate that in to your design, with out any sharp turns or corners, and it would be pretty hard to do that...
