:| ... You asked for the height of the robot... It's invertable... So the highest point is the top of the Tyres... Which is 80mm from the ground. It has 5mm ground clearance top and bottom.
I wouldn't sniff at 2.2kg for a spinning weapon! Drum or not, that's gunna hurt!
Also have any of your seen 540 in action? It could have a sponge on the front and it would kick arse! If it lasted 3 minutes without destroying itself that is................
not done an update in ages, not really done much...
got a plate of D2 tool steel and milled it down to 25mm thick at robochallenge HQ;
then droped it of to draftek (http://www.draftek.co.uk/) who are based down the road from me who water jet the beater out, as per the cad i sent them... it turned out like this;
...next to the bot;
hopefully poping to ed's tomorow to put the bearings into the bearing blocks, then back to robochallenge to turn the beater edges down to a round profile to fit in... not long until it should be spinning.
Im upgrading the drive from dewalts to speed 900, mainly for reliability reasons... and because i want it to be faster then it currently is in low gear... so with the help of Dennis Martens this has been drawn up, and the parts ordered;
prototype gearbox plate machined on Dennis's home made cnc;
...they should mate up with the original mount for the dewalts, so will be totaly interchangeable.
its stacked away, needs some work doing... a lot of the threads have stripped in the disc mount, needs new brass gears for the drive also...ill re-build it, but it will probably only be used in white boards/demos etc... ill use 540 for competitions now.
