Hobbyking/eBay stuff arrived. Running the same components in both bots so less spares to carry.

Rough layout of parts. I will probably mill pockets into the frame to give wires somewhere to pass through. Disc is sorted, just need to pay for it.

To get it to not cut out constantly I had to remove the mixer in the robot, and go back to the tx mixing which limits throttle to 50% or so. That got the robot to actually drive. So its slower and less powerful, but still it's probably better as it will be more controllable now.

Remaking that 4wd beetle I had out of better materials and making it suck less. Frame before was 10mm chopping board and 5mm aluminium. This has been changed to 3mm steel and 12mm nylon. Its got much smaller overall and has better, more sensible sized batteries. The height of the frame has gone from 30mm to 25mm.

with all the bits its about 700g. Which means it sucks at pushing anything. With another 500g (the eggbeater) taped to the top of it, it can happily push around bricks and things so I'll need add a 4mm steel lid or something to bring the weight up.

Drives nicely, although the mixer or the esc's glitch out from time to time so everything is very delayed on the stick.
Named it Wodge. Will get on adding a wedge or scoop to it soon. Probably be 5mm aluminium.

Both looking frisky. What ground clearance did you originally have on the 4WD machine? You mentioned it kept getting stuck... that doesn't bode well for Anvil or Susan.

I had probably about 1.5mm on it before. I don't think it ever actually got grounded totally. I think you're fine with ground scraping fronts, but more clearance sides and back is a good idea. I now have about 4mm clearance all round but I will have a 0mm clerance wedge or scoop I think.

Aside from a kind of spinner, I don't know what Susan is? any details.

Susan is a miniature Binky. Yes, it will just as hard and be just as dangerous.

Its got 1 battery this time and its much easier to work on as most of it is welded so far fewer things to mess up on... you will pay for that with your robots life! Hahahaha!

Wodge is nearly there. Ellis was a proper gentleman and sorted me out with a load of cool stuff. One of these bits was a different esc which solved all the driving and derping out problems.

Made wheel guards and armour today. Chunky robot is chunky. Also got sillyscoop semi mounted.

Pretend-O'd some wheel guards out of 5mm alu. They were eggbeater's but they fit this nicely.

Like I said before, drives pretty nicely and should be better with the added weight of the steel. Still got about 350g to play with so I can add weight where I need it. Size wise it's 140mm long 150 wide. Obv much longer with the scoop of silliness.

Got some stuff to say about Attack of The Bigger Thing but I'll save that until I have some decent pictures.

wheels are ebay ones. Just searched 40mm foam wheels or something like that.

Plus a slot for hella legit frame strength.
