    Wow, what a show !!! Unbelievable !!!

I didnt call him an idiot. Please read carefully ! The only way if I would be calling him an idiot, would be when he didnt understand what I was saying. But he DID ! Cause he saw that prolly stood for probably, hence he DID understand it, hence he goes for answer YES.
But Im sorry if I offended people, just my thoughts on spelling correction on forums.

      Wow, what a show !!! Unbelievable !!!

On the contrary, Im sorry I caused you offense WJ. Maybe I should have kept quiet, and certainly I should have taken more care about the way I said it. I expressed myself in a way that was open to misunderstanding.

My intention was not to reprimand you nor to make fun of you, but to inform you of a fact in a light-hearted fashion, and hopefully to invite you to share an awareness of humour possible in the situation.

The fact was: The usage prolly can lead to a sub-conscious misunderstanding, not of what you are saying, but of the kind of person you are. It can make you look childish. On this forum this could not happen to the creator of Gravity. On other forums people will without thinking take you less seriously, and weigh your words less than your words deserve.

The joke was: The idea that on THIS forum anybody could mistake the creator of Gravity for a child is ridiculous! *big grin*

(However, after all this the joke is dead, so let it pass, let it pass.)

My thoughts on spelling: (This is not a lesson, just an attempt to put my point of view across. Its just an opinion, other people are welcome to disagree!)

It isnt a matter of doing things by an unwritten rulebook, or of being sure people understand the meaning, but of presenting ourselves to others to the best of our ability. The more work a person does to understand us, the less value they put into what we are saying. A friend of mine is intelligent, capable, and worth listening to. Unfortunately he has a speach impediment that causes his voice to go silent at the beginning of words starting with vowels. He has got into the unfortunate habit of jump-starting his voice by inserting the word like. This is especially unfortunate as the people who normally insert redundant likes into sentences are people who cant think of any words to express themselves. People think less of him by that association.

Spelling and grammar have a similar importance. People judge us by the way we write, without thinking about it. Reading this post, people will assume that I am pompous, pedantic, literate and intelligent - - and opinionated - - and theyd be right! If I wrote in txt-speak, for instance, they would assume I am lazy, illiterate and possibly stupid - - but also opinionated. And theyd stop listening to what I was saying, however right or wrong I was.

It is annoying to be corrected in public, but the people who point out our mistakes are trying to be kind.

Once again, Im sorry I caused offense.

P.S. I, at least, did NOT think you were calling me stupid!

P.P.S. Can we stop this and get back on topic again?

I dont know how I am going to survive until the semi-final... Does Gravity triumph again? It deserves to! (That was a hypothetical question - No spoilers please!)

          Wow, what a show !!! Unbelievable !!!

*Sniffing nose* I was just being helpful you know. People never appreciate my efforts to help them. *Huffs* I could also tell Chris o and Mario to mind their spelling (out of here ? theres no need ? Oh dear...)
It is just that I hate having to puzzle when I want to read something interesting, and I know there are people out there who feel the same. So please do not use abbreviations, chat-speak, sms-speak and do use capital letters and interpunction where needed. That will make the world a better place for all !!! (Not to mention the kids who visit this forum and need a good example !)

Oh yes, back on topic... Richard, the semi-finals had me trying to tear off the canvas from the tubes of the camping chair I was sitting on. At several moments I nearly fainted. Please have appropriate medication on stand-by when you view them !

Oh dear. Maybe Id better get myself admitted to the heart clinic before I watch, as a precaution!

[ BTW, Ive not come across the word interpunction before. From the context I suspect you mean punctuation? ]

                  Wow, what a show !!! Unbelievable !!!

Well I thoroughly enjoyed myself in Heat D, even though Herbinator didnt last very long. I was just quietly grateful that we werent up against Gravity in Round 1.

Even though 13 Black took a big slice out of the back, and Lightning put us out of the competition with a very well aimed flick onto the side wall, and then Shunt put multiple holes all over the robot, we were still operational. One of Shunts blows brought us down from the sidewall, and we kept on fighting.

I now need a stronger robot, and have the plans to achieve it. It will be a flipper again.

Guess Im just adding my thoughts onto a long list here but well done, Gravity was impressive.

Wheely Big Cheese only ever seemed to get one big lift on people. Gravity just kept on going and going !!!! The Big Cheese guy could learn something from you guys.

                            Wow, what a show !!! Unbelievable !!!

I find it somewhat amasing that WBC actualy works. The way that cilinder is mounted, mind you ive only seen it on TV. It almost has no hight diverance when the flipper is closed so the force is aimed wrong for opening. Only when it is opend quite a bit is the force direction actualy in somewhat the rigt direction. Please correct me if im wrong, But how does it do it?

Ive always wondered that, the leverage is almost all wrong.

Roger did mention to me that the lid on WBC flexes quite a bit when it is flipping, it was that flexion that gave it the flick that tossed 100Kg of robot from the middle of the arena against the outer curtain last tie it appeared. That might allow something of a change of flipper geometry, so that the ram is angled more out of the same plane as the lid hinge axis.

Of course, this is pure speculation. It may just be that appearances are deceptive and the ram is angled sufficiently upwards to allow it to lift a robot once full gas pressure has been achieved.

There is a height difference, only not as much as with AIR or Chaos2 or Gravity. So the angle isnt optimal, but it is sufficient.
