    South East FRA Region Meeting

Jon does not live in Maidstone. He lives in Uptohisneckinit. A nice little town in the darkest depths of Kent. Where men are men and sheep are sh1t scared. Where hot water only comes out of a kettle. Where coal is picked up from the streets, Brass bands play the hovis tune where ever you walk and the internet is just an expression and not a fact/Thats where Jon lives. Ask him.

Now, I will not even try to describe where Geoff comes from but they havent even woke up for the past 1,000 years. A little village called Brigadoone and with such famous residence as Fred Astaire. Geoff, as a child had his own pet Dinosaur.

    Mike.

Jaymz (yes that is how he likes people to spell his name) and I will be there, we will be coming from West Kensington so if anyone is still in need of a lift there or back, post here or e-mail me.

Whats it like round your house Geoff - do we have to sweep the hay and chickens off the stone floor then sit in a cirle round the fire?

I never once thought that Mike had a cor blimey cockney accent. As I originate from Crawley with its own London dialect I might be harder to understand - however its been tamed by living in Brighton all these years and internationalised by having to make myself understood to unfortunate foreigners who dare to make conversation with me.
I aint been on the telly Andrew but youll recognise me from my FRA profile.

Ive had a mildly catastrophic loss of transport. If anyone is able to give me a lift if theyre coming anywhere near the Pulborough, West Sussex area, then that would be enormously sppreciated. If not, Im afraid Ill have to sit this one out. If you can help, gimme a bell on 07792839640. Cheers,

              Eddy

Hi all, I would like to say that last night was great fun. It was nice to be able to put faces to the names from the forum. I certainly hope that we can do this again in the near future. Perhaps we could meet on a Sunday afternoon, so that those with children could bring them along. The Saltdean Tavern was a great venue, very child friendly. They certainly didnt mind being invaded by our mob.

I had a great time last night- really enjoyed it. We must do it again some time soon. Great venue too (once we found it :-). Was good to meet some people for the first time- especially being able to put a face to Andrews Garrard, or at least a Tiddly Winks T-shirt. Had a great time with Joe and Jaymz too. And thanks to Andy Kane for coming aswell. Good to know progress is all good on the insurance front.

Such a big group and it was rude of me not to mingle so I didnt get to say hi to all you lot down the other end of the table(s).....

I have to say one thing though...Ian looked like crap and I was just waiting for him to slide under the table at any moment. Hope youre feeling better now

And another thing (didnt think I could stop at saying just one thing)
Next time you ask for a pint of Tetleys Mike Ill make sure you end up with a big pot of tea

Andrews Garrard? Im not a cluster bot, although if youre going off weight...

Good to see everyone (eventually - knew I shouldnt have said the A259 would make it easy to find the place). 160-ish miles from Debenham, and about 2 1/2 hours, plus a bit if you miss and go through Newhaven, should that information help anyone around Easter. Fortunately, it was only 70 miles back home, which makes Brighton very slightly further away from me than Cambridge (which is why Im hoping the East Anglian group will get their act together too).

Thanks for putting up with my newbie questions (including Mike embarrassing me with a novice error with the pivot point for a flipper - I actually *do* know better, but my first combat part failure seems to have been my brain). Interesting to get such a view of the politics in the roboteering community, too - most of its hidden on this site!

Still, thanks to everyone for a friendly welcome to the FRA. Next time we do this, Ill try to get there earlier and mingle with the other half of the table. :-) (And Karolines right - Ian, you didnt look well; speedy recovery!)

Now the question is whether Ill still be able to match names and faces *next* time... I was expecting a small local pub and six or seven people - not something that seats hundreds and four tables worth of roboteers! Ill know for next time. :-)

Looking forward to seeing many of you in action at Debenham (even though Im going to be restricted to the public bits of the event).

Finally, good to put a face to you too, Eddy! Karoline - oh, *that* posting (when you mentioned it, I was trying to connect the tattoo with the women-in-robotics thread). :-)

When shall we, er, about twenty, meet again?

It was certainly a good meet. We could really do with a pub with a backroom next time, especially if the numbers grow.

Looking forward to the next one.

My Uncle owns a pub in Brook (near Haslemere) which has a function room. It might be a bit North for some people tho. Thoughts? Its the Dog and Pheasant, Brook.

Hiya folks, thanks to everyone who turned up, it was a good evening. I think the final body count was 19, nnn..nnn...nnnn...19! (Gedditt??)

I would suggest end of April for the next meeting, a couple of weeks after Debenhams? Eddy, wheres Haslemere?

Looking forward to the next one
