What about Laser 2? (forum username 'Laser')
Ben didn't get signed up before the places got filled but he posted a video featuring some of its upgrades recently and was gutted that he missed out on a spot at the champs. It's a nicely made robot and would be good to see it again.

Ellis - your going to get it on CoD now! haha.

All of the reserves list was taken up when we moved to 48 robot's. However, as there is a space now available, if anyone want's to enter please post on here or get intouch with James or I and we can get that space filled up. Don't force me to have to get PloughBot working!

Well we have absolutely no reason to believe it might be problematic as in terms of safety (failsafing etc) we have never had an issue. We passed check at MMM without them batting an eyelid too, so we're happy with its safety.

Also, it's about time I say it, we're going to have to pull out Grabbererer. We just don't have the assets this time. We can make a much better bot if we leave it for next time.

We're happy to leave the 5 quid for someone to fill the gap. What happens with our spot, guys? I'm sure there were people who were simply too late for the signups and have a bot that can compete, I'd love to see someone in that situation get their chance.

    Sorry for any inconvenience.

Tormenta 2 will be entered as planned.

Moving when not under power is fine in regards to what your saying Ellis as it would be easy to untrap a hand - but it won't trap it with a locking bar :P

There's some common sense really when it comes to locking bar's. If there's any possible way that your weapon may be able to harm anyone then put one on just incase. Usually slow moving weapons won't need one as it's mainly for robot's with weapons like flipper's etc for when arming up etc.

Is Tormenta 2's weapon likely to come under scrutiny then? The weapon can technically move without power but to do so you've got to go backwards through about 100:1, it's very hard and we avoid doing it.

Would have thought being able to move without power would be a good thing anyway, if a weapon were to trap someone's hand the bot can be turned off and the arm lifted out of the way, which wouldn't be possible if it could only move under power?

Then you'll be fine without a locking bar.

With the power off, is the lifter able to be forced open/closed by hand or will it only move under power? This was discussed at lengths years ago and robot's like that didn't need them.

just scanned the tech check sheet just to make sure I'd covered everything and the only bit i'm dubious is weather scruffys lifter needs to be restrained when in the pits as its not very quick and it stops moving when there's no signal

i know people have said its not really been an issue but just want to make sure

Drumroll doesn't cut. Cutting is neat and precise. Drumroll grabs you by the robotic cahonies and throws you kicking and screaming around the arena

Not gonna give my predictions for every fight as things always go so differently in the arena compared to what we imagine. Plus there are too many close battles to call this year! So I'll just stick to Drumroll and Carcinus.

    Drumroll:
Ironconkers v Massacre v Drumroll 2 - Massacre is new, Ironconkers is semi-new and normally new bots have teething troubles. With this being its 4th champs, I'm hoping that most of Drumroll's teething troubles have been ironed out and it will go in my favour. If not, then at least it's a three-way spinner fest

No Toy v Drumroll 2 v Cobalt - No Toy's a newcomer but well built, Cobalt is Drumroll's mortal enemy
Have made modifications to try and limit damage from Cobalt and to stop riding up its wedge so easily, but if it grabs either of us, the pit beckons. Too close to call.

Conker 2 v Drumroll 2 v Night Fury - Another newcomer in Night Fury, but built like the proverbial outhouse. Conker 2 is a big threat here but if my wedge can get under its skirts (ooh-err!) then they'll offer up a nice catching point. Quietly confident.

    Carcinus:
MMM v LH2 v Carcinus - In the pit, possibly upside down.
Carcinus v Grabberer v LS4 - In the pit, possibly having had entire claw mechanism extracted.
Explosion v MMM v Carcinus - In the pit, possibly out the arena.

The predictions for my bots on here and Facebook have big plastic box Cicatrix more likely to qualify rather than welded titanium/Hardox FP Eric Jr, my cousin will be pleased
