Re: Robo Challenge Open Day & FRA FW Awards 2012
Its on!!
Im very pleased to announce the Robo Challenge open day(s) and Awards will be on December 8th & 9th! The format has changed slightly to allow some full combat action (we will need some help setting up and taking down ) and the fee will be £10 per head to cover the costs of putting the event on.
So on Saturday we will have our seminars/talks during the day and awards in the evening. Sunday will be some whiteboard action in the arena and things like CO2 training and tech check advice etc.
Each seminar will be hosted by a successful veteran roboteer and will cover important topics to really spread knowledge through the community. They will not be weight class specific and we will be working closely with each presenter to help them give everything they need to get the most knowledge from them. Each seminar will be roughly 30 mins long and between the sessions there will be time to implement or take note of the points that you feel would best help your team back in our make shift pits area.
As previously announced our first workshop will be held by Sam Smith (Current FW UK Champion). An extraordinary engineer who creates machines that appear to have been formed at NASA. His engineering and design knowhow I feel is the best in our sport, and his ability to create a machine that hits hard yet keeps on going is mesmerising. Sam will be delving into the depths of his designs and creations to really pinpoint what has made his machine successful and reliable. Im certainly looking forward to him giving away his secrets!
As mentioned our workshop is tight on space so please be aware when you arrive. As we will have to scrape together chairs and tables if you have your own that you can bring that would be a big help. Camping chairs are great.
We will provide tea and coffee for all and a few snacks. Please bring a packed lunch for lunch alternatively at star city you can get all sorts to eat and its about 1 mile away.
Lots more details regarding times, seminars etc will be announced soon and sign ups.
Re: Robo Challenge Open Day & FRA FW Awards 2012
We should have enough space for things like that - however we haven't been contacted about anything like that as of yet. We would need to look into it a lot first as there are a number of things to consider, such as the arena spec and build, operating the arena and all the usual safety things that go with it.
I expect there will be some time for testing in the main Arena on the Saturday after the talks, however we are still working on the exact timescales we have to work with.
Oh, and no goodie bag - I think weeks of organisation, the use of the arena, plenty of knowledge and the expected costs of arena repairs is about as much as we can stretch to for £10 per head
