      He means that although hell be using the lifter set-up, he wont actually be using the lifter itself. Like Storm 2 didnt always use the lifter in their fights.

          OK forget the lifter...Ill use the now fixed Disc set-up. Ill take a jab where-ever and when-ever I can.

              The Disc 5 vs. Cyclone Force 2


              In round 1, Cyclone Force 2 flipped Ram-Rod into the pit with a little help from Mute, when The Disc 5 took an easy day when Razer pitted Slammer 5. In round 2, Frank€™s evil machine placed Mute onto the camera tracks, when Cyclone Force 2 caused an upset after being pretty well destroyed, pitted Razer.

              Who will come out on top, but full marks for Chris for working throughout the night to repair Cyclone Force and for everybody else in the pits to help, Cyclone Force 2€™s disc is back working and in place for this fight.

              Cyclone Force 2 gets the early start, being driven by a couple of Lem 130 motors gives it some nice acceleration, as Chris gets the front disc up to speed to attack The Disc, which is sitting still, the rear wheels on the arena wall, so it can€™t be pushed backwards, spinning the disc up to speed. Cyclone Force 2 rams into The Disc 5, as disc meets disc and Cyclone Force is flipped onto it€™s back. Frank moves forward and hits into the polycarbonate rear and rips away some of the panels. Typical, you mend it and now Frank breaks it.

              Chris runs away before The Disc can remove another part of Cyclone Force 2, as Chris opens the pit release. The Disc 5 starts to roll, getting up to speed, as Cyclone Force 2 takes the long route around the strange machine of Frank, but The Disc 5 turns to make sure that Cyclone Force 2 can€™t get around the rear where it might do something. Both robots are going in a circle, the radius increasing and decreasing at random, as Cyclone Force 2 makes a break for it. The Disc 5 turns, the spike fires, sending The Disc 5 into a hopping frenzy. Cyclone Force 2 rams into The Disc 5 with it€™s disc at full speed.

              Both robots are thrown away, as the front disc of Cyclone Force 2 looks to have taken the damage, but it spins back up to speed, and comes back onto the attack. Another running 25mph drive from Cyclone Force 2 and both robots are thrown away, as the spike fires again, sending The Disc 5 onto it€™s back. The front disc of Cyclone Force 2 lands far away from Cyclone Force 2 itself, as the front is completely wrecked by the last couple of impacts. The Disc 5€™s disc has started to make a strange noise, coming from deep inside the body. Cyclone Force 2 comes back onto the attack in a doggy style way, slamming into The Disc 5 at full speed. Once more, both robots are thrown, as the front end of Cyclone Force 2 looks completely destroyed with the chain hanging loose and the motor starting to come away.

              The Disc 5 meanwhile is having trouble keeping the disc at low speed and has to go to full speed, as another attack from Cyclone Force 2 comes straight at The Disc, Chris dodges and hits The Disc 5 to the right of the disc, not being thrown away Cyclone Force 2 puts on the power, as The Disc 5 is being pushed backwards, Frank is trying to do anything he can, but the hammer comes down onto The Disc 5€™s top, bouncing away, and the hammer fires again, into a semi-spun up disc, and bounces away from the tough titanium bodywork, as Cyclone Force 2 spins away with some force that something flies out of the front, it€™s not the motor, it€™s the gearing for the motor to chain, as it comes down, is life over for Cyclone Force 2, as The Disc 5 starts to spin it€™s disc up again, the noise returns.

              Cyclone Force 2 comes storming into play, and straight into The Disc 5€™s disc. Both robots are spun away, as the hammer comes down onto The Disc 5, and the disc rips away the hammer from the holdings. Cyclone Force 2 lands, the front has gone, as the weapon motor for a 2nd fight has been destroyed, as the front wheels are holding onto the chassis for dear life, as Cyclone Force 2 comes onto the attack once more, you can€™t give anything for Chris€™s aggression, even if it means being destroyed, but is all this attacking hurting The Disc 5 at all?

              For the 5th time, both robots are flown away from each other, as Cyclone Force 2 lands, one of the wheels roll away, as The Disc 5 starts to turn, something is wrong with the disc itself, as it€™s shaking badly at low speeds, settling down when the disc passes 1000 rpm. Frank is looking worried, as some funny readings are being sent to his hand held €œDisc Protection System€ (Patent Pending), as Cyclone Force 2 comes back onto the attack once more, even with 5 wheels on the robot, Cyclone Force 2 can still get up to speed as it ploughs into The Disc 5. Once more Cyclone Force 2 is thrown away, as The Disc 5 spins around, as the disc shakes again at low revs before getting back up to speed. Cyclone Force 2 isn€™t moving, it€™s armour is broken all the way around, as there are drive chains hanging out of the broken front chassis.

              Ref starts to move, as Cyclone Force 2 kicks into action and manages to get around the rear end of The Disc 5 and stopping the disc with it€™s front end, starts to push The Disc 5 towards the arena pit, The wheels on The Disc are spinning as it tries to get away on holiday, but suddenly Cyclone Force 2 cuts out, a few feet away from the pit edge, as smoke starts to pour from inside it. The Disc 5 comes away; the disc isn€™t spinning at all, as Cyclone Force 2 goes up in some fire baby.

              Cease

              Ref comes over with the fire hose and puts out the flames with the co2, as The Disc 5 goes into shutdown mode.

              Cyclone Force 2, destroyed, wrecked, there is nothing left after the fire inside from the short-circuited batteries. The Disc 5 moves into the semi finals, but after future inspection to the insides as Frank tries to work out the nature of the shakes, he finds that the friction bearing has been wormed down and needs to be replaced; also a wire has come away from the motor.

              Frank works long into the night, helped along by Chris.

                    Its been a well written first half, Dave - keep it up! Ringwraith will go for Gravity and strike it on the side to flip it and get those wheels. It will also attack Aquarius side on unless Aquarius has a powerful spinner or something.

                          Avoid Gravity, I dont wanna be flipped out. Ill go for Ringwraith and constantly ram him around everywhere. Eventually, Ill see if I can get into position where my bck is aginst the wall and hes under my front. Ill flip him, and he should go flying out.

                                Gravity 4.5 (5) vs. Aquarius vs. Ringwraith

                                From Scotland, Essex and Holland, the 5th seed, Gravity 4 and a half. Entered by Martyn, this kinda old version of Gravity is the same used in the stars-all in series 8, where it proved itself to get the silver medal. Aimed with titanium armour, a double flipper (which is very large), and a low front scoop to get underneath those annoying robots to send them sky high with a flipper similar to the one which got the silver flipper last time. Will the improved armour, drive be enough to take it the 3 steps closer to the championship?
                                In FAR 8: (As Gravity 3), rolled with it though the heats after throwing out Maximum Velocity, Asimov 1.5, Ram-Rod, before throwing out Firestorm in round 4. However it came unstuck against Tempest Eviloution and Tsunami 2, but it came 6th overall.

                                From New York City, in the USA, Aquarius. Tony€™s wedge with lifter has a 340 degree lifting arm powered by a couple of heavily geared electric motors to give it control. The armour is tough and bullet proof, but the bolts holding it on might come away from the titanium frame. The drive is powerful with 2 WD with the most common vapourbot motor around, you guessed it, the Lem 130.
                                In FAR 8: How on earth could Tony enter, he didn€™t know of the FRA forum when Far 8 started

                                From England, Ringwraith. Entered by Richard, this inverted spinning cylinder with lots of lovely power enters the arena today. The weapon is powerful and the robot itself can turn on the spot to prevent robots getting around the rear, where the force of nature could send Ringwraith into the pit or out of the arena. Richard is on the look-out for any flippers or horizontal spinners which can hit the exposed wheels.
                                In FAR 8: Nope, didn€™t enter.

                                Ringwraith holds back, as the other two robots start to go forward, as Martyn is heading for Aquarius, as Tony turns looking for Ringwraith. Richard is sitting, the back wheels against the wall, with the drum spinning in the middle. As Aquarius starts to drive in towards Ringwraith, ramming it€™s front, but getting thrown away with the impact, as Aquarius is flipped high into the sky, hitting the dodgy patch on the wall where Lint destroyed it, before coming back down, as Gravity 4.5 is on it€™s back.

                                A quick self-right from the Dutch flipper, and a ram from Gravity 4.5 into the front of Ringwraith, as it is flipped up, spinning, as Aquarius gets underneath the rear end of Gravity 4.5 and lifts it up, as Ringwraith slams into the side of Gravity 4.5 before Tony can move it. Martyn self-rights Gravity 4.5 quickly, as Ringwraith has flipped over Aquarius. Tony rams into Ringwraith, and manages to get underneath and starts to lift it up, the drum stalls, as Ringwraith is up in the air, the wheels spinning madly, trying to get traction on the floor.

                                Aquarius is taking Ringwraith across the arena, as Gravity 4.5 opens the pit, as Martyn is holding back. Aquarius is taking Ringwraith towards the hazards of the spike, as the spike fires, sending Ringwraith over. Richard gets away from trouble, as Aquarius gives chase. Gravity 4.5 comes slamming in from the side of Aquarius, pushing Tony€™s wedge sideways, the flipper fires, as Aquarius exits the arena via the sloping side walls.

                                Aquarius, flipped out of the arena, Ringwraith and Gravity 4.5, the 5th seed moves into round 2.

                                Hacked off Ha-ka (2 vs. Tazbot vs. Hector

                                From England, and the 28th seed. Hacked of Ha-ka. Entered by Matt F, this 45 degree box-wedge has a powerful axe, powered by co2, on ramming mode, the wedge can flip robots up, but even with a titanium strip, it might find life hard work getting underneath others. The armour is tough enough to restand most spinners, but limited co2 could prove it€™s downfall.
                                In Far 8: (As Terrorducktyl?) beat Phoenix from the Flame (well if it lost, it would have been crapper than crap), before being tossed into the fire by Bulldog Breed in round 2.

                                From the USA, Tazbot. Devon€™s real robot, replaced by Medibot driving. This American 2 wheel drive, lifter/spinner has a powerful looking lifter with spikes, on a 360 degree turning thingie could prove to be good in melees, but the wheels are exposed to spinners and crushers, and it takes time to self-right.
                                In Far 8: Didn€™t enter

                                From England, Hector. Entered by Alex, this crushing thing, with hydraulic claws, and spikes it loves to fight full bodied spinners, and it is very hard to attack because it€™s a slippery customer. The armour is tough enough to restand axes and crushers, but in a melee where it can get ganged up on, the rear end is opened to attack.

                                Hacked off Ha-ka sets off, at a speeding pace, as Hector is holding back before coming straight onto Tazbot, as the lifting arm turns to defend itself, the axe comes down onto the top of it, once, twice, three times, each time making a lovely hole in the top. Hector comes in with the claws and gets a good grip in it€™s hugging position. Does Hector love Tazbot is the question, as Alex crushes the claws down, as the axe on Hacked off Ha-ka is coming back and forward with ease, Matt is whistling, wondering if he can finish and have time to watch some random crap on the telly.

                                The claws are in, as Tazbot is off the ground, the top has broken, after all the impacts, as the claws crush a little bit more, and the right hand side wheel is off the robot, as Tazbot hits the ground hard, as Hector losses grip. Hacked off Ha-ka has reversed, so has Hector, as Tazbot is turning in a tight circle, with no wheel to help turning, could the real robot in this melee be going home?

                                Ref starts to come over, to count out Tazbot. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, and there goes the funky red card.

                                Cease

                                Tazbot, losses a wheel, losses the way, and losses the melee. Hacked off Ha-ka and Hector moves into round 2.
