    Eye of Ran II vs. Gehenna

    hi Andy! *waves*

    As Kody has pointed out, due to my unceasing incompetence I am using EoR II here. My strategy is fairly simple, really just use the back wedge of the robot to keep Gehenna away until the blade is spun up, which should take about two seconds, and then hit it repeatedly until such a time as further hits become unnecessary or impossible.       Guess what? First Challenge Belt battle! Guess what else, sadly I am an impatient being and thus I have cleared Parassyte's place due to not only getting no robot but also not a name or location - THAT takes a piddle a bit too much And guess what else, another Challenge Belt space is open, but also the same number of All-Star places STILL available - come on guys, PLEASE!! :sad:

      The grandson of Ripper, here comes a machine continue the family tradition: kicking ro-butt! Here we have n interest wedge shape with slanted out sides to make getting underneath from the sides that little bit trickier than the standard wedge. The machine is also packing a punch, both with the 16mph speed coming from motors providing great push against it€™s competitors, and with the weaponry it possesses: here we have a front forward-hindged flipper used to push robots great distances across the floor in a beautiful flying arc that many rear-hindged flipper would be jealous of, as well as the drum at the rear, useful for deflecting opponents away with it€™s 5kj output. Finishing this robot off is 6mm thick Titanium/Vanadium alloy, making it hard to get into, but a 10mm rear clearance is open for any flippers strong enough to get underneath.

      Where does this robots name come from? I dunno, but if you see Eye Of Ran, you better start running! This T-shaped robot of doom is equipped with a deadly bar weapon: a deadly 30kg metre long spinning bar that blends Flywheel logic - by using weight reducing holes to make the outer edge of the blade heavier - with a bar€™s raw power to hit hard and fast - spinning at 2500rpm - and giving off 106kj per hit from those curved teeth shaped hammers at each end of bar! This robot has speed as well, being at 12mph and capable of fantastic acceleration away from it€™s predator, as well as towards it€™s prey, and the 2 wheel drive with both wheels mounted at the front make it easy to keep the blade pointed towards it€™s target! But even if it€™s caught, the 4mm Hardox shell with Polycarbonate overlayer over a Ti/V box section chassis make this a tough not to crack. Rear/side wedges serve as additional weapons to push with, and it€™s nearly impossible to attack this robot without being hit by the blade, but underneath the blade is a 5mm ground clearance and in a straight pushing match this robot could find itself staring defeat in the face.

      And the first Challenge Belt contest is underway€¦and AJ is straight out of the traps here, the drum spinning, driving in as Joey faces his rear wedge towards Gehenna 2, and powers on as the blade spins: they collide, but GEHENNA IS UNDER AS THE BLADE HITS THE FLOOR! And it€™s a beautiful sight, as Joey machine flies away across the arena as the blade makes sparks fly up from the arena floor! AJ€™s got off to a good start and aims to keep this up as he speeds off after the Challenger at slightly greater speed€¦but the blade is now fully spun up, making a doodlebug noise of doom! AJ charges as Joey turns around€¦BOOM! Oh my days!! The front flipper of Gehenna is nearly peeled straight off from that hit! This weapon on Eye Of Ran is mighty! Already into this battle the Challenge Belt holder - the mark of a warrior - is on the backfoot! But Aj isn€™t giving up as he goes in once more, this time attacking the side of panels€¦but this plan is hard for AJ to make work; Eye Of Ran€™s turning system is making it hard to get at the sides, as Joey constantly turns around - using the bar as a point to turn round - to keep AJ in front of him. It€™s now Joey€™s turn to attack, as he lunges at the side of Gehenna€¦but nothing as dramatic as the first hit, just a long deep cut forms in the side plate, but the nearly torn off front is still serious hurt caused here. AJ turns once more and comes on a brave - or foolish - headlong charge, but the bar is spinning at full speed once more€¦BANG! And there goes the front flipper plate, as well as AJ most effective tactic ploy; the armoury around the front is still there but all the mechanics on display through a great hole in the Ti/V front! But does this stop AJ, you bet it doesn€™t as he comes ramming back in, this time using the rear drum: and whilst it isn€™t quite the same weaponry power as the bar AJ is using it well on the sides of the T shaped machine, as he stratches away on the side wedges the way a cat scratches on a scratch pole. Not greatly terrifying, and AJ€™s more powerful robot can€™t seem to push Eye Of Ran; whenever AJ reverses in for a shove he just seems to ride up the side wedge a bit, taking away his traction€¦but AJ€™s losing control here, as he rams in, but rides up the wedge€¦HE€™S GONE ALL THE WAY UP IT! HE€™S STUCK! AND JOEY TURNS HIS BAR SPINNER AROUND TO THE EXPOSE UNDERBELLY€¦A sickening tear, and the rubber tread of a wheel flies off - it€™s urethane rubber, meaning it€™s been torn clean off the wheel hub of Gehenna€¦and now Gehenna is near weaponless, and already nearing the countdown! But Joey€™s not finished! He rams in on the rear! SMASH! Another clean cut in the rear panel, but in he comes again! SMASH! And now the plate is gone€¦but something€™s flown out with it - it looks quite small€¦it€™s the safety link!! And now the Challenge Belt holder has to already give it up, as the highly impressive Eye Of Ran powers down, eyed up by the audience€¦and the future challengers!

      Gehenna 2 needs another remodel!

        FYI, I believe that Parassyte is Mr. Nick Schuch of North Carolina.

        I think Eye of Ran II will hold on to the Challenge Belt against The Servant's Assistant.

            Throw V'Ger in Challenge Belt, Mobile Failure in the All-Stars. If you want it RIGHT full, throw SOTAR in too. ^^ (I think they both fit the qualifications as such, orz...)

              Hey Tracy, thank you! Sadly tho, it is one All Star replace per contestant. However, with the tournument structure currently in place, I can make it work with 9 robots as opposed to 12 - the latter made it sound that bit more exciting

              I'm guessing your stats are on the same board as mine (strickenone), so I'll look them up.

              btw, because you put Mobile Failure first, I'm gonna put that down as your All-Star Entry, if you have no complaints. And also, screw waiting for an extra 3 ppl, the All-Stars line-up will be posted AFTER Tracy has given me an indication that Mobile Failure is REALLY the All-Star she wants.

                Having read the latest fights after getting back from holidays, I have to point out that Metallic Doom actually won the annihilator based on the judge's decision :P

                Although the fight was really good, Axe To Fall's score actually adds up to 56, and he was scored incorrectly for aggression (4 x 4 equals 16, not 20), so Axe To Fall actually scores 52 next to Metallic Doom's 53

                Not trying to rain on anyone's parade, just pointing out a human mistake

                  Crap, you're right. If you think that's bad, two additonal points: I've got a B in GCSE Maths and also I should've notice my total judges scores are 105, and both the robots scores added to 110. x2

                        For structure, it is exactly the same as the version previously planned except instead of 3 x 4 way melees with 2 going through, it's 3 x 3 way melees with 2 going through.

                              I don't know Kody (in reference to your previous point), Gabriel's point could get underneath the front of Wedginator easily I think and the sides and rear are high off the ground, and the version of Envy that Wedginator X is based on had trouble with driving because the shape meant a lot of the weight was forward of the wheels, which screwed the turning up...

                              This is an awful fight to write tactics for because it involves two of my very best friends and awesome people, and Failure and Gabriel have their own moe-bot thing going on XD erm...my tactics are as follows:

                              1) Attack house robots with Failure and Wedginator. ^^

                              2) When the business of 1) is finished, it depends what's happening really. I'm open to being teamed up with but really don't want to be teamed up against, hehe...

                              IF THERE ARE NO TEAMINGS AT ALL: Flip, stay away from hazards, and concentrate on not going out and generally attack indiscriminately both Failure and Wedginator, avoiding their wedges and getting one or the other out ASAP.

                              IF THERE IS A TEAM UP INVOLVING ME: Go with that and go against the bot not involved in the teamup. ;P

                              IF THERE IS A TEAM UP AGAINST ME: Go for Wedginator - it is, objectively, the robot Gabriel has a better chance against as I might well be able to outmanoeuvre it and get to the sides (see first paragraph) and it's far easier for Gabriel to get under Wedginator than vice versa (Wedginator's side and rear ground clearance is appetising, metaphorically speaking, and the front blade will be easily got under by Gabriel's front point if the two meet at any angle due to surface area) and generally get it out of the fight, preferably down the pit rather than out of the arena. Failure's weapon shouldn't do much to the angled armour or thick ears but I'll try not to let it have a chance to.

                                That depends on a number of things. Surface area rule is indeed one of them, then there's how much weight is resting on that point (in fact you were the one who said Wedginator is front heavy) but do consider the possibility that NEITHER robot gets underneath the other. In such an event, only meeting Wedginator DIRECTLY will allow Gabriel to push it away (Gabriel having slightly higher voltage for its A40-300s [yeah, they're called that now :P]), otherwise, if the point meets my blade at any other way, Gabriel is going to be pushed aside, and I'll be able to get under the nosecone from the side.

                                Fair enough, but ground clearance doesn't truly determine the winner, even in a battle of flippers. Skirts aren't 100% reliable. And who says you'll even get to them anyway, checking both stats closely *I* seem to have the more controlled drive, if not being faster than yours, anyway.

                                ...I'm pretty sure there have been many 2WD robots (including vapours) with heavier fronts that have had little problems driving around. People who put ballasts in the front of their robots, for example (even if there's nothing for the ballast to balance out)
