  • The New and Improved Team Corsair RPG

    As we all know, there are numerous RPG universes. And as we also know, at one time there were rifts connecting these universes. Since the first Oddestsey wasn't finished, we have to make some assumptions for this RPG to work:

    Assumption 1: Professor Vengeance managed to close all but one rift.
    Assumption 2: Professor Vengeance teamed up with Lord Doomforall and took control of several universes, using the rift as an inter-dimensional portal.
    Assumption 3: Half of these RPGs never finished...
    Assumption 4: This takes place in a different universe.

    Now due to the assumptions made above, I've decided to make this RPG. You don't have to enter if you don't want to, but well, do you really want only 1 RPG going on(No offence to Lian)?

    Anyways: Here's what I want in a character:

    Name (Anything, but please: No swearing in the name)
    General Appearance (Explain what they look like, and whether they're elves, vampires, robots, humans, etc)
    Stats: (The things that actually matter :P , you get 40 points to divide how you want)
    Strength: (How strong your character is, how much they can carry, how much damage they can do with melee weapons)
    Knowledge/Intelligence: (Put it as a ratio this way: Knowledge:Intelligence. A higher knowledge value means you know a lot, while a higher intelligence value means you can learn easily)
    Speed: (Determines how fast you can go, a slower speed will make it harder to retreat or run away from a battle)
    Agility: (How maneuverable you are. The higher your agility, the more chance you have of dodging an attack. Plus it increases your accuracy with guns, bows, etc.)
    Weapons: (You get 1 melee weapon and 1 ranged weapon, please choose a weapon from 1500AD earlier. Melee weapons include swords, daggers, knives, etc, while ranged weapons include bows, crossbows, guns, lasers, and rocket launchers)
    Clothes: (Choose wisely. Certain clothes can give you bonuses and tougher defence.
    Strengths: (Essentially the strengths of your character)
    Weaknesses: (The weaknesses of your character)

    And that's pretty much it. Except for the storyline...

    As we know(due to the assumptions), Steve and Alex decided to team up and rule the universes. However, unexpectedly, both of them die approximately 100 years after they conquer all the universes. Since there is still 1 rift open, the residents of various different universes are fighting to control the rift. They realize that if they control the rift, they will have a striking point to attack and take over other universes. An alien species called the Knemnians achieved this feat, only to be conquered 2 years later by the Trocasians(Hey, I'm just randomly making these up).

    Meanwhile, a Hub World(Not the one where the original Oddestsey took place, but very similar) is rather worse for wear at the moment. The water is filled with ships, some fighting, some burning, and some sinking. The beaches are strewn with bloodied pieces of equipment(Due to the Trocasians creating a device on all planets that instantly disintegrates dead bodies into dust), as the hills are racked with gunfire. Now, a group of citizens(the entrants) of various universes must conquer the Hub World and close the rift, ending the inter-dimensional war.

    All I need are 4, maybe 5 entrants, and that's it. Come on, guys! This will not end up with me controlling everything, or with this not being finished.

    Name: jack €œterminator€ swartz

    General Appearance: tall and fit wearing a khaki jacket with the sleeves cut off, also wearing khaki trousers and black hiking boots, he also has a khaki backback always wears sunglasses due to a rare medical condition called anaridea (yes i have it) just means he€™s sensitive to light. Its a mix between me and a certain Arnie :P hes human, but full of robotic parts, for example his eye is robotic and can see through anything, he can also has night-vision and heat
    Strength: 15 points
    Knowledge/Intelligence: 6
    Speed: 10
    Agility: 9
    Weapons: a small dagger that he hides in a secret compartment in his right boot , and a rocket launcher that fires...rockets :P but has a toggle switch that can change between rapid fire and single fire modes, if no rocket is inserted it fires flames
    Clothes: same as in general appearance but has a baseball cap in his rucksack (khaki again :P). Under his khaki uniform he has a layer of inpenatrable body-armor.
    Strengths: packs heavy artilary
    Weaknesses: not the brightest

      Note: What I'll do is give you 1: A special ability, which will be something you mentioned in the stats, 2: the weight and amount of damage your weapon can put out, and 3: The speed that your weapon fires at.

      Characters:

      Jack Terminator Schwartz
      Strength: 15
      Knowledge/Intelligence: 3:3 (Jack, that means you both know quite a bit, and can learn easily)
      Speed: 10
      Agility: 9
      Weapon 1: Dagger (Weight: 3, Speed: Fast, Damage: 10-15)
      Weapon 2: Rocket Launcher (Weight: 10, Speed: Very Slow, Damage: 50-60)
      Armor: Customized desert military gear (Weight: 2, Defence: 4) over 5mm Titanium/Vanadium Alloy (Weight: 10, Defence: 10) (Total Weight: 12, Total Defence: 14)
      Free Weight: (Weight = Strength times 10 divided by 2) 50/75
      Special Ability: Night Vision (Allows you to see in the dark, letting you see hidden enemies)

        hey Mark, I have some questions about your RPG before I may enter

        how does The Oddeststey enter into this? you refer to it several times but it seems to be of no relevance whatsoever, you say its set in a different universe, and that it has a different hub world, to me it seems to have nothing at all in common with The Oddeststey, so I think you can better leave it out if this altogether to avoid confusion

        you say you dont want to control everything, yet you've already controlled characters that belong to Steve and Alex? why not create your own characters, they could easily fullfill the role of Doomforall and Vengeance without using someone else's character and thereby making their freedom within this RPG smaller, what if Steve and Alex decide to enter? their roles seem to be laid out for them already by you

        the story isnt bad Mark, and original as it is, I think I'll enter later on

          The reason the Oddestsey is at least partially relevant is because, since it wasn't finished, I have to make assumptions, and therefore I can guess, without anyone scolding me, what happened after the last post of Alex's in the thread. In this case, it was that Professor Vengeance and Lord Doomforall teamed up and closed all but one of the rifts, which Steve and Alex used as a portal to take over all known universes. Then(to make it to where they can enter if they want), they disappeared, while the one open rift was used by the Knemnians to conquer all the universes. They kept their power for 2 years, until the Trocasians defeated them and took over all the universes. Now, on this Hub World, you can gain access to the rift and gain access to other universes. If the rift leading to and from the Hub World is closed, then access to other universes via the rift will be closed as well.

          Therefore, unless I reference the Oddestsey, how can I properly work the one rift, multiple universes, and the Hub World into the storyline? By saying that the rift is one of Frank Goacher's plot holes gone wild? No one will believe that...

          I would create my own characters to fill their spots, but I can't create one or two people evil enough to do that. I'm too much on the good side to do it, per se. Also, I modified the above story to where, since Steve & Alex only disappeared, if they enter, I can work it into the storyline without much difficulty.

            ...what gives you the need to even use the storyline from the Oddestsey, or indeed link the Oddestsey into this or have anything to do with it at all? I'd have thought it would have been much easier to create your own story along the same lines rather than work on something you weren't involved in - as Marti says it does leave Alex with quite a quandrary if he decides to enter.

              hang on hang on hang on Mark, I really cant follow this, what is the link between this RPG and the Oddeststey at all? this isnt a sequel to the Oddeststey isnt it?
              its just an RPG about a world in which multiple universes excist, a past event created rifts between them, 2 evil beings closed all but 1 rift and used the remaining one to take over universes, and they were killed. The above sentence pretty much sums up this RPG without mentioning The Oddeststey or Doomforall or Vengeance, right? or is there vital information thats lost by leaving them out? if so, please explain it to me so I can adjust my character accordingly

                I guess you just summed the whole thing up back there, so the Oddestsey will not be mentioned, nor will any of the characters.

                The revised storyline:

                As we know there are various universes, however in one hub universe on a hub world there were several inter-dimensional rifts, as they were called, created due to someone developing an interuniversal generator. The device incinerated itself during its only use, but it created the rifts. A party of brave adventurers managed to close all but one of the rifts, at which point 2 of the smartest people of all the universes joined up and used the remaining rift to access connections to the other universes. Out of the population of that world, the other planets in that universe were conquered. Soon, the populace of that universe developed rift ships that were used to travel from one universe to the next. The 2 smartest people in all the universes used this army to gain control of the whole universe.

                At this point, it appeared that the 2 universal conquerors suddenly dropped out of all the universes, thereby creating a universal power vacuum. The power vacuum was filled when the Knemnians rediscovered the rift and used it to conquer all the universes. They retained control, until the Trocasians also discovered the rift, and used it to overthrow the Knemnians. Now, the inhabitants of the various universes have banded together into groups to protect themselves from the Trocasian invasion, and it is on one of the hub worlds that this story takes place.

                The objective for this group is to close the rift on the hub world. With it closed, due to it being the only way to travel from universe to universe, and that rift being the only remaining one, its closure will seal access to the rift and prevent another being, species, or beings to conquer the universes again.

                Also, I guess there's no way I can keep the mentioning of the Oddestsey, as I can only mention it if either Steve or Alex enters(which there is no chance I know of of that happening)

                  thanks Marc, the story lost none of its quality and Im totally going to enter a character later tonight, wanna see how this develops

                  am I right in thinking a hub world is a world thats connected to the rift, or is it something else?

                  btw, can you explain the intelligence/knowledge stat a bit more, do I have to give 2 numbers?
                  and do both weapons need to be pre-1500, if so, why the example of lasers and rocket launchers?

                    From what I could tell, a Hub World serves 2 purposes:

                    1: Many miscellaneous items such as Pistols, Jackets, Lizards, Rocks, etc. land on the Hub World, so it is essentially the universal garbage bin, although most items that appear there are in at least partial working condition.

                    2: The Hub World connects other universes to each other. The 2 smartest people in the universe developed a device allowing you to choose which universe you want to go to. They placed 1 of these devices on every planet in every universe. Using the device on another planet will take you from that universe to this Hub World to the universe you want to go to. However, the Universal Transporter System, as I call it, has been shut down following the Trocasian's invasion.

                        With intelligence/knowledge, you put in 2 numbers. Depending on which is higher, you'll either know more, or learn faster.

                        Rocket Launchers and Lasers are there only to give examples of ranged weapons. And from this point onward, the pre-1500s rule is dropped.

                          General Appearance: balding in a huge area around the scalp, semi-long gray hair where there still is hair, always looks annoyed but that€™s because of his old age and facial lines than anything else (ok, he€™s kinda grumpy, but not always). Wears small glasses and an otolaryngologist's mirror on his head. White coat under that, and black leather boots under that, and wears pink gloves. Talks with a German accent and has a medical background, although he has lots of basic knowledge in many fields.

                          Agility: 4
                          Weapons: Wolfgang is not the man you want to rely on in a fight but he does always carry an old (wood cutting) saw with him, and a set of darts when in need of a ranged weapon.
                          Clothes: Apart from the clothes described above Wolfgang has a backpack that contains medical equipment.
                          Strengths: Scientific expertise and especially medical expertise, and resourcefulness
                          Weaknesses: A somewhat fragile body
