    My tactics:

Surgeon General is essentially an invertible 2-wheeled Hypno-Disc with protected wheels, So I'll use the Tornado vs Hypno-Disc strategy on him. Consistantly push him from the side, and shove him into whatever CPZ is closest. Then eventually press the pit release button and shove him in. That disc should do nothing to my wedge, and I have the better drive.

Simply: Press the pit release button, and push him from the side into the pit.

It's been a while, and I apologize, but tactics time is over

      FEATHERWEIGHT FINAL

      From Portsmouth, in Hampshire, Flow!

Armed with a powerful Co2 powered flipper and showed no mercy in its first battle. Its 2WD, but the Co2 supply is limited.

From South Kestevan, in Lincolnshire, Overdrive!

A box on wheels with a front wedge and fast speeds of 15mph. Its made from Aluminium, so its strong, but the wheels are exposed.

      Roboteers, stand by!

      B1: Flow
      B2: Overdrive
House Robots: Dead Metal and Shunt

      3-2-1: Activate!

A new featherweight champion will be crowned after this. Overdrive straight out and sliding under Flow! Ramming them into the arena wall! Flow away and turns to get under, but flips itself over! Overdrive pushes it into a CPZ, where Shunt awaits. Flow self-rights and avoids a mighty axe blow! It escapes the CPZ and gets under Overdrive, FLIPPING them into the air! Overdrive crashes back down, but I don't think that has hurt them. They swing around to get at the back of Flow, perhaps to push them towards the flame pit or the angle grinder or a CPZ again? They do so, but Flow counters and tries to get under again, but misses! That's a waste of Co2. How much do they have left? Overdrive barges into them again and pushes them towards the wall. Flow against the angle grinder, but away. Doing well to stay in this, I think. Overdrive presses the pit release button. Down goes the pit. They'll need to avoid that as Flow once again flips Overdrive! That is a powerful flipper Flow has! Overdrive OK, and they swing around to get under Flow again. Flow backs off the wedge and gets under the side of Overdrive. FLIPPING it over! Overdrive, can avoid another flip? Yes, they're off and away towards the flame pit. Flow follows. They've both got good armour, so the flames won't do any damage. Overdrive spins around to face Flow and slides under again, pushing them back into Shunt! Flow...ha ha! They try to flip Shunt! Overdrive comes in again, just as Shunt brings his axe down and hits them instead of Flow! Flow escapes, but Shunt pushes Overdrive against the wall. They're in trouble here. Dead Metal approaches, but Overdrive escapes and is out of danger now. Flow crashes into them and FLIPS! OH! They've flipped themselves over again! That's how powerful their flipper is! Overdrive pushes them towards the wall, but Flow self-rights as they are shoved into an angle grinder. Its off again and tries to get under Overdrive once more. Overdrive is upside down from the earlier flip, and thus cannot push properly now as Flow slides under the wedge and THROWS them towards the bottom of the arena! Overdrive backs away, ALMOST into the pit! They had a lucky escape there, but Flow comes in again. Overdrive gets under and tries to turn them towards the pit, but Flow swerves! OH! Overdrive is on the edge and DOWN they go! They tried to push Flow in, but went down themselves! What bad driving! Flow is the winner!

      Cease!

      Overdrive goes into just that!
      Flow is the Featherweight Champion!

      Well done to Flow.

      Next time:

      Tornado VS Surgeon General

Another note, this time about the fight. I did not let Flow win simply because AJ did not post his tactics. You're probably tired of me going on about this, but to avoid future conflicts, I feel I must tell you. Read and review at your own leisure

        Welcome back!

        HEAT FINAL

From Miami, in the USA, Surgeon General!

From Huntingdon, in Cambridgeshire, the number 2 seed, Tornado!

        Roboteers, stand by!

        B1: Surgeon General
        B2: Tornado
House Robots: Mr Psycho and Matilda

        3-2-1: Activate!

The last place in the grand final up for grabs. Tornado has the wedge and SLAMS into Surgeon General straight away! Sparks fly from the disc, but Tornado isn't fazed and pushes Surgeon General towards the CPZ! Surgeon General however, counters this and swerves out of the way before they get there, so Tornado turns and goes on the attack again. Pushing from the side this time, but Surgeon General once again swings out of harms way. Good tactics from both sides! Tornado needs to keep Surgeon General from escaping if they are to win. They push into the side again and take Surgeon General into the pit release button! Down goes the pit. Surgeon General escapes, JUST avoiding going down! Tornado follows, but Surgeon General spins around and HITS them with the disc! Tornado is very strong, though and pushes Surgeon General once more towards the CPZ! Surgeon General tries to get away, but Mr Psycho is waiting and down comes the hammer...ONTO the top of Surgeon General! Tornado pushes them into Mr Psycho again, but Surgeon General escapes and the hammer falls again onto the arena floor! Tornado off and away, to push Surgeon General towards the flame pit. Surgeon General frees itself again and now Tornado goes for the sides. Pushing Surgeon General across the arena again and into the angle grinder! Surgeon General tries to escape, but Tornado rams them again! Is Surgeon General stuck against the wall? No, they get away, but Tornado is dogged in its pursuit here! Pushing Surgeon General again, this time into Matilda! OH! She hits Surgeon General with her flywheel and something came flying off! Was it one of the wheel guards? I think so! That leaves one of their wheels exposed! Tornado tries to push them again but ends up FLYING from Matilda's flywheel and ALMOST into the pit! Matilda showing no mercy in this battle! Tornado is still mobile, and pushes Surgeon General once more. Surgeon General swings round again and escapes, but Tornado is still in pursuit. This is a fantastic fight! Tornado barges into the side of Surgeon General and pushes them towards the pit! Surgeon General is able to free itself and hits Tornado once more with the disc. That doesn't stop the second seeds, though! The last ten seconds count down. Tornado pushes Surgeon General onto the flame pit. That won't harm them though. Its got good armour, Surgeon General. They shove free of Tornado, who turns to give chase.

        Cease!

An amazing fight. Both robots are still mobile, so it will go to the judges. You know the critera, style, control, damage and aggression.

        Surgeon General: S: 2 C: 2 D: 1 A: 3 Total: 8

        Tornado: S: 2 C: 3 D: 2 A: 3 Total: 10

The judges have made their decision!
Tornado goes through to the grand final!

Well done to Tornado. They take the last place in the grand final.

        So this is the lineup:

        Typhoon (Jack O)
        Macduff the 4th (Kody K)
        Firestorm (Andrew J)
        Tornado (Mark E)

The lineup will be later. Please read and review

OMG!!! I'm actually doing well in a tourney for once!!!

          My tactics:

If I face Firestorm: I'll use the ramming wedge to get under the the bevel back(I think that's what it's called), and ram it all across the arena. If I can trap it in a CPZ with a house robot for an extended period of time, I'll press the pit release button, get underneath the bevel back, and pit the sucker.

If I face Typhoon 2: I'll use a rather unique plan: I'll use the anti-crusher frame to hit Typhoon above the spinning teeth, thereby knocking him off balance. There's a good chance he'll flip himself over due to instability, and there's an average chance that he'll get caught in the frame, allowing me to press the pit release button, and shove him into the pit.

If I face Macduff the 4th: Use the wedge and my superior maneuverability to get around to the side, get under those spikes, trap it in a CPZ, press the pit release button, get under the side again, and pit it.

            • Re: A special Robot Wars Fan Fiction Anniversary

Alright, time for more in-depth tactics:

This time, I'll use the anti-crusher frame(minus that lawnmower blade, as I don't need it and it adds weight) not as something to block Typhoon's attacks, but as something to use as a weapon. My plan is to wait for him to fully spin up, then rush forward and hit him with the high-mounted frame. That should hit him somewhere above the teeth, but still on the spinning shell. The resulting gyroscopic forces should either flip him over or trap him in the frame. If he's flipped over, let the Refbot count him out, but if he's trapped in the frame, immediately press the pit release button and shove him into the pit. I cannot risk him damaging me, as that could be the end of my winning streak.

hmmm marks plan has some substance, however i can see some flaws, and will pick up on that.

i will drive off at activate, then spin up, dont let tornado get to the pit, theres not really a chance i can pit him cos of his frame...however, if i can break the frame, that shouldnt be a problem XD

to be honest, i doubt the gyroscopic forces will flip me over, and how would i get stuck in the frame??? even so, mabey be on the side of caution and not go o.t.t with speed

once up a respectable speed, let him come to me, im happy to sit and wait, homefully i should nock some stuff loose, or i should defo do something to the drive train. that was always tornados achiles heal XD

just keep smashin and bashin till somthing judders loose in him avoid the pit and other hazards

                good luck mark

At least Surgeon General lasted the fight.

                  Typhoon 2 vs. Tornado

I actually see Tornado winning this. If Surgeon General couldn't do it... :P

Firestorm V vs. Macduff the 4th

lol being the only non-realie left :P

Firestorm's a proven robot, so he'll be pretty tricky. I'll have the usual forks on for this fight. Simply put, they'll get under him no matter how he tries to come at them. He'll obviously run for the sides/rear, in which I'll keep turning to point the forks at him. If he gets under, drive off; his huge wedge is extremely flat so I should be able to easily do that, even at any angle. If I get under him, take to a house robot that can damage him. He has a high ground clearance which can help him drive away if I try and take him to the pit. If Matilda's in there, send him to her. Stay away from the pit, and prevent Firestorm from getting to the pit release button if possible. :P

Good luck whoever's controlling Firestorm. :P

One problem with your plan, Jack: You won't be able to hit me, because my frame will hit you at least 10cm above your teeth.

The reason it'll knock him over is because the force of him spinning will be tilted at an angle, and those teeth'll dig into the floor, pulling him across the arena and onto its head.

                      IIRC, that's never happened to a FBS/ring spinner. :P

If you could support your theory with a video of this or a really detailed description of the physics involves, then I'd be somewhat inclined to believe you. :P

                        I guess you're right...

But anyways, he still can't hit me, because his teeth won't hit the frame due to the frame being higher up then the teeth.

                          thats true but...

the teeth come out more than the lid, and due to the fact ud be hitting me ABOVE the teeth (the lid is gradualy receding to a point btw, it would take more time to hit the lid than hit the teeth) i should be able to hit u underneath your frame b4 u hit my lid, seeing as my teeth go under the frame i should be able to hit the robot and not the frame....if u get what i mean XD

Welcome to Robot Wars! It's the grand final, and four robots will be fighting to get their hands on the crown. But before that, lets see how our finalists got this far!

                              HEAT A

Typhoon II, the reigning champions, didn't do too well in their first battle against Terrorhurtz, narrowly scraping through after Terrorhurtz was immobolised. In the heat final, they showed no mercy against Liar II and went into the Grand Final once again!

                              HEAT B

X-Terminator, the number 3 seed, ripped Gravity apart in the first round, winning on a judges decision. But newcomer Macduff the 4th flipped them over in the heat final, where they were pitted by Growler. Macduff the 4th, considered to be the one to watch.

                              HEAT C

Number 4 seed Firestorm V blazed its way into the Grand Final by flipping Crooked Evo and Traffic Warden into submisson. They won the heat final, throwing Traffic Warden into the pit. Can Firestorm V get its hands on the title this time?

                              HEAT D

The final heat saw number 2 seed Tornado breeze past OID, pushing them into the pit before a tight battle with Surgeon General. The judges gave it to Tornado. This is their third time in a grand final. Can they win it again?

                              And here are the lineups

                              Typhoon II VS Tornado
Firestorm V VS Macduff the 4th

See you later for the first fight

Also, I still need advice on the use of Tornado's ACW. If no-one replies, I'll assume no-one has a problem with it and will continue the fight with Tornado using the ACW
