  • The Killer Toad Tournament - The Final Assault

Location: After-tournament party for Fight against House Robots

Everybody is busy celebrating Paul€™s victory, apart from 2 people, 1 of which is sleeping on the floor having a bit too much to drink, and 1 mysterious person wearing a darken cloak, who nobody has noticed as slowly worked their way into the back-stage pits area, where they take a hammer out of the cloak and smash open the lock to the locked door to the secure out-of-bounds production office, being exiting 5 minutes later carrying a large black box containing some very important details and stuff. The mysterious person exits as mysterious as they entered.

Meanwhile at the party, nobody has noticed as Kody tips a bottle of champagne over Paul€™s head as everybody cheers and downs some more pints of various alcoholic drinks.

    *The next day*

Clearing up, one of the cleaners notices that the door to the production office has been damaged, and calls the production manager who after a quick scan notices that some very important documents are missing, more importantly that his lovely expensive large black box is missing, but there is a note on the table saying: €œIf you want to see your documents again, don€™t call the police, but call this number 07€¦€ of which the production manager does.

15 minutes later he exits the office looking a nervous wreck, and reads out the demands made by the kidnapper for the safe return of the very important documents, that 1 robot of the highest order will fight it out against 1 of the kidnappers own robots which is off the highest order in a location and date to be determined, however the kidnapper has also made it clear that the robot selected must have been selected after going though a series of tests and battles against other robots. The conditions for these tests and battles will be posted to the arena within the next couple days.

2 days later a large parcel is returned, showing pictures of the documents and some details, of which the production manager passes onto the writer who writes them out into a format which people would know

The next week a notice is printed out and sent to all active Roboteers which sums up the situation.

    What is needed
17 people to enter 3 vapourbots each. 51 robots might seem to be an odd number but it is what the kidnapper wanted

    Weight limits and the like
Wheeled machines are allowed 100kg, tracked machines are allowed 100kg, shufflers are allowed 100kg and walkers are allowed 100kg to play with.

Passive weapons are allowed, and clusterbots are allowed up-to 4 pieces, in which the 50% rule applies

    Format
48 machines will fight it out in a round of knockout to leave 10 machines (48 down to 24 down to 12), 3 machines which are seeded from the original series will be given byes until the 3rd round, and 3 lucky machines will be given

The 3rd round will be made up of 3 groups, each containing 5 robots each, where the 3rd round will be made up of each robot fighting each other robot in the group

The 4th round will be the 3-way play-off ties, where the runner-up of each group will fight each other to determine which will get the 4th spot in the semi-finals

The 5th round will be the winners of the 3 groups, plus the winner of round 4 fighting it out in a best of 3 knockouts, of which more details will be announced later. The winner of round 4 won€™t face the winner of the group they were in (Say the winner of round 4 came from group 2, the winner of group 2 and €œgroup 4€ won€™t fight it out against each other)

The 5th round will be the winners of the semi-finals fighting it out, at a neutral location.

The 6th round will be the fight against the winner and thus demanded as a robot of the highest order against the kidnapper€™s own robot, again in a neutral location.

    Seeds
1 - Frankie (For May Tracks Have You for double champion of KT)
2 - Martijn (For Flick of the Wrist for runner-up of KT3)
3 - Paul (For Nitro-Gene, champion of FAHR)

Those 3 can enter the same robots, or can elect a member of their team

    Other stuff worth mentioning
The arena for the rounds 1 to round 4 will be a bog-standard Robot Wars style arena, with no hazards, apart from the pit which is open all the time. Plus the walls are slightly higher and stronger.

(And before anybody asks, I do not know at this moment in time which robot the kidnapper will bring to the final fight, nor the details of what was in the documents of which the Production manager wants so much back.

So in recap, 17 people to enter 3 vapourbots each, with a link to where their stats are located. Stats can be in any format, as long as the basics are there I dont really care how detailed you wish to go, but if Im unsure I will ask questions.

    Any questions?

The Killer Toad Tournament - The Final Assault

      The May Tracks Has You

Shape: Like Comengetorix. It has a wedge extender to give it 0 mm at the front.

      Speed: 20 MPH.

      Dimensions(lwh A): 85CM X 45 CM X 24 CM

      Armour: 4.5 MM hardox.

GC: 0 mm at the front, 6 mm everywhere else, covered by skirts made of 3 mm Ti.

Weapon 1: Rear hinged flipper, powered by two pneumatic rams at 500 psi.

Weapon 2: Upward facing spikes on the wedge. A robot can go over them, but if it tries to reverse, say goodbye to your tyres. By wedging a robot then reversing suddenly, TMTHY can impale the tyres, then fire the flipper to do loads of damage. Even a robot with stuffed tyres will be limping after that.

Drive: Inner tracks, powered by Lem-130€™s at 24 volts.

      Srimech: The flipper.

Strengths: Weapon synergy. Once The May Tracks Has You, there is no escape.

Weaknesses: Axe/flipper combos could take the tracks out.

      The 6isc

Shape: Too complicated, apparently. See picture in the vapourbot images thread.

      Size: 60X110X60 CM (LWH)

      Weight: ~100 KGs

      Speed: 10 MPH.

Ground clearance: Under the wheel protectors, it€™s 5 mm.

Weapon: 26 KG spinning disc, powered by one LEM 130 Lynch motor and going at 2500 RPM. The disc is shaped with its own teeth rather than needing teeth surgically attached to it, so dentistry is quite impossible. The energy output is 36 KJ€™s which, while modest by vapour €˜bot standards should still be enough to make a mess of things.

Wheels: 6 wheels, but four wheel drive. This has three wheels on either side arranged in a triangular fashion, so it only runs on four at a time. The wheels are 1 CM solid Ti with soft compound rubber wrapped around them to provide shock resistance, and a layer of Vulcalon wrapped around that to provide traction.

Chassis: The main chassis consists of one solitary 1 CM thick 4 mm box section hardox bar. Slotted over that is a secondary axle, inside which are the batteries. There are also two other triangular chassis€™ supporting the wheels. These are made from 4 MM 1 CM box section Ti bars with weight reducing holes.

Armour: The true axle and chassis is a 4 MM hardox bar. The battery axle is 2 mm aluminium. The semi circular wheel protectors and side spikes are 5 mm Hardox. The disc itself is 14 MM of Hardox 500, and the outer axle is 4 mm grade 5 Ti.

Srimech: Totally invertible. Controls won€™t even have to be reversed after flipping, meaning it can just go straight back on the attack.

      Drive: 2 S28-400 Magmotors at 24 volts.

Strengths: The newest version of The 6isc does away with as many weaknesses in The Disc 5 as I could find.

Weaknesses: Weak armour in places. Can€™t use axe attacks.

      Masamune

Shape: Barrel shaped, with a 20 CM long wedge at the front, with a sword blade extender. More on this a little later.

      Speed: 15 MPH

      Size: 80x50x25 CMs (LWH)

GC: 3 CMs at the sides and rear, 0 at the front.

Armour: 6 mm Hardox all over except for a 5 mm Ali baseplate. With the exception of the wedge, the barrel is made out of one sheet of hardox so there are no plates that can just be torn off.

Weapon: Retractable sword lifter. The sword blade can be extended 15 CMs out from the wedge to allow it to get under any spinner safely, or it can be retracted to extend only a couple of CMs from the wedge to allow it to lift with more control. The actual moving part s the wedge, which is powered by two linear actuators and should be able to lift around 200 KGs. It can also be lowered slightly, causing the sword to dig into the floor slightly resulting in it being able to get under even 0 GC wedges and skirts. The actual sword blade is made from 5 mm grade 5 Ti.

Drive: 4 internal wheels with vulkanised tyres, powered by two S28-400 Magmotors at 24 volts.

Batteries: 4 packs of 24 volt NiCads.

Shrimech: The rollover barrel shape. If it gets stranded against a wall, it can use the sword to push itself away.

I still say The May Tracks Has You could be even better if it had something on the top of the machine to trap robots from driving up and over

Turning Circle: Zero, what does it look like?
Weapon 1: Static Scoop to deflect other spinners.
Weapon 2: In the middle of the scoop, there is a Tornado-esque drum thingy powered by S28-150, spinning at 3220RPM.

                    Dimensions: 95 X 95 X 27.
                    Drive: 2 X LEM-130€™s @ 36v powered by 3 X NiCad Batteries.
                    Top Speed: 13 mph.
Feet: 4 X Shuffling Pads with Asmaprene urethane rubber, and this prevents WDR from self-destruction.
Armour: 6mm Hardox for the ring spinner, and 4mm Grade 5 Titanium for top and bottom.
                    Ground Clearence: 5mm all around.

This brings out about 125kJ, and if the spinner fails, it can use its INSANE pushing power to ram other robots to death. Its also heavily shock-proofed as well.
                    Srimech: Invertible.
                    Strengfths: Deadly Weapon.
                    Weaknesses: Hates Flippers.

I still say that the spikes on May Tracks act like that. Since its a non-smooth surface, wheels cant get any proper traction to move more than a centimetre or so and very slowly. I only need them on the wedge for a second or two after all.
